We've reached this Mubarak 19th night of Ramadan.
Allah make it easy.
If the
you know, if you've been out of it,
now it's time to jump back in the
game.
No time like the present. If you've been
in it and you're wearing thin,
you're getting threadbare, you're tired,
you're sleepy,
perhaps a little bit irritable, maybe hostile,
you know, just stay in it. It's not
that much longer.
Stay in it. It's not it's not that
much longer.
It's a few days and then afterward,
when Allah's father has decreed,
the sweet and fragrant effects of it stay
with you for the rest of your life,
and then they live for with you forever
in Jannah where there are a lot of
other nice and sweet and fragrant things.
Give it to us all by his.
So we read today from the
entry on the conquest
of Dumat al Jandal.
Said Khalib bin Wudid radiahu ta'ala Anhu moved
from toward Dumat al Jandal in order to
assist
Riad bin Granim to conquer it. While the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was alive, he had
sent Khaled bin Walid to do what Al
Jandal to capture,
Okedar bin Abdul,
Malik. Khad
who had captured him on a moonlit night
and presented him to the messenger of Allah
sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
That's pretty awesome
to be able to nab a dude in
the desert in his
turf.
You have to be, like, real smart, real
agile, real fit. There's, like, a lot of
skills that come together in order to be
able to do that.
That's, you know so
you can tell from all of this that
perhaps,
righteousness,
you know,
it includes tarawi and zikr and stuff for
sure.
Maybe we should pick up the kettlebell a
little bit more often as well. Jump up
onto them plyometric
boxes
and, I don't know,
do some functional stuff because.
Who
captured him on a moon that night and
presented him before the messenger of Allah sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam.
The messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
spared his life
and entered into an agreement with him in
return for jizya and then sent him back
to his town.
Again, you keep your stuff,
you're exempted from one tax, you pay another
one. For rich people, actually, the the
jizya is far lower than what they would
have made anyway. This has actually become a
problem in the Ottoman Empire
in the later period of it. The government
wants to abolish the jizya and give a
uniform tax code because the rich Armenian businessmen,
like, amassed huge hoards of wealth that were
not subjected to tax or anything,
and nor were there was there a column,
like, subject to any sort of, like, military,
obligations
or whatever.
And so what all what is all of
this? You know, the modern liberal mind
other than, like, you know,
imagining new genders by the minute,
and new pronouns by the minute. It will
say, well, why why if he was such
a great guy, why did he nab him
and make him pay the jizya?
Why?
Because the order of,
the Lord has supremacy
more than your order of, like, if it
feels good, do it.
Ironically ironically, if it feels good, do it.
System ends up making a lot of people
feel really bad.
So bad that they don't wanna have children
anymore. So bad that, like, you know, crimes
and deaths of despair
skyrocket.
So so bad that, like, you know, Portland
is and Seattle are filled with
Fentanyl addicts on the street side. I feel
bad for them. What do they have to
live for? Nobody else is gonna help them
either. At least in Republican states, they're not
that much of a bunch of.
They just say we don't care about you,
like, upfront.
Whereas they fake like they care about you
in those places, but they don't. A person
who, you know, like,
there's a difference between a death of despair
and suicide.
Suicide, you just, like, kill yourself. Right? Deaths
of despair are what? People are depressed.
They resort to, like, drug use that gets
progressively worse and worse even though they know
that this is probably gonna end in their
death.
It pushes people to consumption patterns.
Like, why do you think everyone in America
is obese? It's not like America is the
only place in the world where food is.
Food is available in other places. There are
people starving in other places, but there are
many places where this obesity epidemic is not
there, where they have access to modern,
you know, modern means of manufacturing food and
whatnot.
And, what is it? It's just people's consumption
patterns. This is the only thing they have
left to live for. There's no more meaning
left in their lives.
So they'll either their consumption patterns will become
more and more an elf unhealthy or for
example, they become more and more risky, their
behavior.
People will say, you know, TikTok normal person
will be like, I wanna buy a motorcycle
or something. It's just stupid like that. Like,
okay. If you have a motorcycle
for some reason, go ahead. It's not haram
or whatever. Or you really like it, you're
really, really into it. But you have, like,
some father who is, like, has children
and a family and this and that. People
have these stupid, like, thoughts to do risky
things, the reward of which is very little.
What does it indicate?
You tell them don't do this. It's not
worth it. But them and the other side
of the other tarazu and the other,
scale pan of, you know, of the balance,
there's nothing really left for them to live
for all that much. So they go and
do these types of behaviors,
that are more and more risky. Why? Because
it's just despair.
So, yes, we're Muslims. We're proud to say
that we don't approve of that message.
And,
God bless the prophet
and his companions.
What did they do? They nabbed him. They
could have had him for everything he had.
They could have made
a leather jacket out of his hide.
But they said, listen.
This is a Sharia. It's good for people.
You know? The first commandments of the Sharia
are, like, include things like wash yourself after
using the bathroom
instead of getting into fist fights over, like,
the last roll of toilet paper in COVID.
It's good for you. It's a good thing.
Once you do it, you'll like it. You
won't go back.
Just pay a little money. You're exempted from
from all the rest of it if you're
not into it, and just let this let
this system work. Everyone will benefit.
And what did they do after that? They
didn't take his stuff. They just let him
go.
When Abu Bakr ascended
to the caliphate,
He sent Riyadh bin Khanam to conquer Iraq,
starting with the upper northern regions of the
Arabian Peninsula.
On the outskirts of Doumat Al Jandal, a
a hoard of Christian Arabs rallied against him.
So he wrote a letter to father
for assistance.
The letter reached him when he was at
and he maneuvered, such that Dumatul Jandal would
be sandwiched between him and Iyab, Jodi who
ruled over Dumatul Jandal
with Orqueda went out to,
attack
Khaldr and also sent another squadron to
fight Riyadh. So
one one army is on
one side, and I'm assuming on the west
side and on the east side is.
So they split their army in 2 to
fight them both at the same time,
including who
had made a agreement with the prophet
after getting nabbed on the moonlit night and
getting to keep his jacket.
And now look what he did.
Both commanders were overwhelmed
and the fortress of Dumut Al Jandal was
opened by force with Khad Radhiwa Ta'ala Anhu
remaining there. As for al Qaeda, he parted
ways ways with Judy because
he refused to listen to him when he
was advised not to fight Khaled.
Khaled sent someone in his tracks to capture
him and slay him because he had broken
the promise he made to the messenger of
Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam to play Jizya.
You know, some people
some stuff for stuffers just don't ever learn
any. You know, they just don't wanna they
don't learn.
They could have done things the easy way.
Could have been Sahabi. We would have been.
Okay. If you didn't want to, if you
like eating pork and drinking alcohol and like
worshiping 3 gods that much
or god knows how many. Right? You could
have done it, lived and died in obscurity
instead of having the of generation after generation
that you are the one who is completely
benefit proof. There are some people that are
like that in your lives.
Given that none of you run a sovereign
like polity,
you're not really allowed to nab them on
a moonlit night or like send the army
after him to kill them. But, do remember
that the hook them of that person, their
also stays the same. So someone shows, like,
this nastiness like this once, twice, 3 they
they show that they're not only not getting
the memo, but they're not interesting interested in
it. You can make a note to self
and just put them on the on the
blacklist, whichever thing that allows you to do.
Obviously, if you're not,
again, like, if you're not, like, whatever on
Chaco Willink's, like, email list or something like
that, then leave those things aside for a
second.
But, you know, maybe it's not worth your
time
wasting your time with them too much.
Hanafis.
Hanafis f one.
I thought I'm like, did they misspell Hanafis?
It was Hanafis.
The Arab of the jazeera were greatly agitated
after the Arab of Ein al Tamar were
killed, and they wrote to the Persian asking
them to send help. What is the jazeera?
The jazeera is not what they call the
jazeera nowadays is the the Arabian Peninsula.
That's not that's not what's usually referred to
in the old books.
Unless you say jazeera
explicitly. Right? The jazeera is a region which
is bounded by the the the Tigris and
the Euphrates.
So it's as if it's an island. It's
surrounded by 2 rivers, but it's not like
in the ocean or anything. So it's as
if it's an island.
If I'm not mistaken, parts of it are
in Turkey, parts of it in our Syria,
and most of it is in Iraq.
So the Jazari is the when they say
Jazari
in the old days, it oftentimes refers to
that that region. Like, Diyarbakir
in
in Turkey is a Diar of
Bakr. I mean, there are Arab tribes that
live there. And there are places in the
central,
south central, and eastern parts of Turkey that
are that are actually inhabited by, like, native
Arab speakers. They're actually really traditionally part of
Sham or part of the Jazira.
But,
you
know, because of the way stuff went down
after World War 1 or whatever, they opted
to stay with Turkey
rather than rather than, join join various
denominations
of Arab Republic.
So the Arabs of the jazeera were agitated.
They wrote to Persians for help.
2 Persian generals left for Ambar and reached,
Hossein and Hanafis, which were near Ambar.
Who's deputy,
in Hera in Hera,
heard about this and dispatched 2 detachments to
act as a barrier between,
Hussein and Hanafis,
and the countryside.
And so Kaqa is a very talented and
able commander.
So he tried to intercept them before they
got to where they can came make mischief.
A large number of Persians were killed including
both their commanders,
and the Muslims obtained,
all,
that Hussein had as a war treasure.
The remainder,
fled to Hanafis where,
Mahboudan,
the Persian chief was stationed.
Abu Leila went in pursuit of them until
Mahboudan,
went to, Musayak met Musayak Hafun,
and there were some Arabs of the Jazira
there. Then father
who wrote to Kaqah and Abu Layla asking
them to meet him at Musayah
at a certain time, to fight the Arab
of the jazeera.
He
reached Musayah with his army
and met,
the other 2,
inflicting a terrible defeat on them. Khad
then headed for Rabiya bin Bujair at Tahlabi,
who's gathering troops,
at Seni,
again, attacking them by night and delivering them
a defeat so crushing that not a single
one of them could escape.
The point is is what they were proactive.
Like, once people had made their intentions clear,
they dealt with people before waiting for them
to crash up on their head and, like,
you know, you know, like, but has not
done them to, like, death.
They they
once people made their intentions clear what it
is that they want to do, they dealt
with them, in a in a proactive way.
Khaled bin Walid radiya ala ta'ala who continued
to Firad, which was on the borders of
Sham, Iraq, and the Jazira.
The heat was intense,
as it was the month of Ramadan in
12th year of Hijri,
and the Muslims
broke their fast there. So there you go,
Masha'Allah.
The army went out in the path of
Allah Ta'ala and,
you know, they were fasting, although they're not
not required to. Oftentimes, what happens is the
commanders would say, like, you don't have to
fast if you don't want to and people
just elect to fast, Then he would chastise
them and then they would be like, well,
did you break your fast? And you say
no. And that's kinda how that is. That's
the thing that happens to this day.
Or sometimes the army goes out and there's
nothing to eat.
This is one of the things, Alana Khalid
Sheikh Amin, one of his he
mentioned he says, like, the the
Athaar document everything to such a great amount
of detail. Like, they don't leave things out.
So one of the bizarre things is that
you never see
any talk about how the the arrangement for
food
was for the armies,
indicating that most of the people would bring
their provisions with them from home.
There is I can remember the hadith about
the the hoot the hoot
that they had, like they were given a
sack of dates,
and that's basically it.
But, like, you know, they would bring stuff
with them from home, and they would, go
out in the path of Allah on their
own spending. Literally, like the Quran says, expending
their own
mal and their own nafs.
But at any rate, so they you know,
this happened often also that they fasted because
really there's nothing to eat anyway.
A huge assembly of Persians, Romans, and Arab
had gathered, to take on the Muslims, and
they crossed the Euphrates to face
They put up a severe fight but were
defeated.
They are Satan's party and the party of
Satan certainly are bound to lose.
Right?
Right? We read it in Tawawi,
Justice Night. Khad
then issued a command to return to Hila
while he remained behind, to be at the
back of the army. It is said that
he had,
went to perform
the Hajj and then rejoined the the the
rear of the army,
before they could make it back to Hara.
Although some of the historians say that this
is far fetched because the extreme distance is
involved.
Allah knows
best. Khad
is sent to Sham. It's at this time
that Abu Bakr
directed
Khad away from the war in Iraq
and to Sham in order to assist the
Muslim armies over there.
Instead, he had appointed Muthanna bin Harith al
Sheibani
over the army in Iraq.
Muthanna had
stayed in Hilla,
and laid down arms and sent out spies.
After Khalid
whose departure from Shahar Baraz,
departure of Afon, Shahar Baraz bin Azdashir had
ascended to the Persian throne. He dispatched a
huge army toward Muthunna under the command of
the general Hormuz,
Babil,
Babylon.
Muthanna let Hera
Hera Afon, not Hera. Hera is the cave
in Makkumukhara. Hera is the the
the the castle and the fortification of the
Persianized Arabs. Muthana left Hera and headed toward
the army of Hormuzentel.
He reached Babel,
an old city, to the west of the
Euphrates River.
The the guys at the our local kebab
Iraqi kebab store are from Babel.
I asked I asked Moana
where is the where, you know,
where is,
Babylon?
No. So I asked where Akkad is and
he his theory is that Akkad is under
the modern city above that.
So
anyway,
so the the
they went to meet at Babil,
and he stationed himself there. It's here that
Hummus and the Persian army faced him. The
Muslim army fought an intense battle against Hummus
until he was defeated.
Shahrbaraz, the king of Persia, died after this
defeat, and many internal conflicts broke out,
in the Persian Empire, which preoccupied them and
stopped them from thinking about the Muslims.
So they knocked them so hard that it
the the the beat traveled through time and
space and, like, literally killed the king.
Meanwhile, these things happen, by the way. I'm
not siding. I don't know. Maybe it did
happen, maybe it didn't, but these things do
happen. I wouldn't be surprised
if something happened because there ain't no Persian
empire no more.
Meanwhile,
the news from Abu Bakr
who was slow to reach.
So he had appointed the Bashir
bin Khasasiya over his army and headed to
Medina in order to obtain permission, from Abu
Bakr
to start enlisting those apostates who had sincerely
repented
because they were on the cusp of something
big. They needed they needed some backup. On
reaching Medina Munawarra, he found Abu Bakr
ill. He summoned,
Umar ibn Khattab and said to him,
I have a feeling that I'm going to
die today.
If I pass away,
do not take a single step without sending
men with mufanna.
Let no difficulty prevent you from fulfilling the
demands of Islam
and the order of your lord. I remember
what I did at the time of the
passing of the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam despite the people never having been
afflicted by such a great calamity. If Allah
gives victory over the people of Sham,
return,
the people of Iraq to their country
because they are its inhabitants and its rulers,
and they have power over the people.
This was as far as things went, in
Persia during the reign of Abu Bakr as
Siddir.
The reach of Persian power had diminished in
all of the fertile lands to the west
of the Euphrates River known as Reef and
Iraq, and the boundary of the empire was
now at that river.
So
tomorrow we can read a little bit about,
the engagement of the companions
with the Romans.
Allah
give help to the
the prophet
People now are arguing about
stupid things.
I don't care if they get a rainbow
bright purple,
rainbow sprinkle
flavored heifer that brings,
you know, Haman and Firaun and and Dajjal
and, like, their best friend Bob with them
back. They're killing children in front of you
on TV already. What more calamity do you
need to know? People should firm up their
resolve and see the score. And, you know,
if you can't be there to do something
directly, at least from here, do what you
can, say what you can.
There are a lot of people who are
can help you with that, including myself if
you need some ideas. But you can start
by, you know, at least altering your your
your consumption patterns when it comes to buying
things and selling things and what you let
into your ears and into your
eyes. Allah
give us all that we don't fill our
hearts with to the point that we're numb
to these things. The children were asking, is
it true that they're gonna slaughter
a a red cow and then the jaw
is gonna come? I go, I don't know.
Maybe, maybe not. I don't know.
But I'll tell you one thing. A, there's
you know, it's not something for sure. You
can't do something that forces
the, the father to happen in a particular
way. And, b, the punishment Allah gives to
people who are ignorant
and who remain deliberately ignorant of the deen
is that they will fear everything.
And the reward Allah gives a person who
takes out the time to understand this deen
is you'll fear nothing but Allah.
And the fear of Allah ta'ala is different
than other fears. Just like Allah is different
than all of his creation, the difference of
Allah the fear of Allah is different fear.
It's it's sweet.
There's a sweetness in it. That the more
someone fears Allah, the more Allah loves them.
Whereas every other fear is completely bitter. It's
just a spiral, a a downward spiral. You
get deeper and deeper and deeper in it
and it just becomes more and more bitter.
May Allah make us from those who fear
Allah fear nothing but him and save us
from such a curse of ignorance that makes
us afraid of everything.
