As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Bismillah, alhamdulillah, wa salatu wa salamu ala rasulillah,
'ah.
Wa alina al-baatila baatilana wa razuqna ijtinaabah.
Wa adkhilna bi rahmatika fi ibadika as-salihin.
Ameen, ya Rabb al-alameen.
Welcome everybody for our Fiqh of Salah lecture.
And last time, we were talking about sifat
as-salah, right?
Sifatu as-salah, the description of as-salah.
And we reached halfway through the lecture, through
the description.
So we are here right now, the description
of the prayer.
Alhamdulillah, we've covered the ruling of the prayer,
the iqam and the adhan, the conditions, the
shurut of the salah.
We're, inshallah, hoping to finish the description and
maybe get into the pillars, the arkan and
the wajibat.
And these are the topics, inshallah, we're hoping
to cover, bi-idhnillah, in the future.
Always, we start with the muraj'ah.
So we make sure that what we learned
last week is not gone.
So the first question is, what are some
sunnahs before the beginning of the prayer?
We mentioned some of the sunnahs before the
beginning of the prayer.
Anybody remember some of the sunnahs that we
mentioned?
What are some of the sunnahs before you
start the prayer?
What are some of the sunnahs that you
can do?
The cookies are not for free.
You have to give me some answers.
What are some of the sunnahs?
Before you came to Maghreb, you just came,
nothing?
You didn't do anything special?
Did you make wudu at home?
So wudu at home is one of the
sunnahs.
And we said, what's the recommended dua?
Allahumma ja'al fee qalbi noora, wa'an
yameeni noora.
The dua when you come for salah.
What else?
Other sunnahs?
You get water for free, man.
It was recorded, man.
So those are some of the sunnahs.
The next one is, what is the first
thing that is done to begin the salah?
How do you begin the salah?
Takbeerat al-ihram.
Takbeerat al-ihram is the takbeera that makes
a lot of things that were halal, now
it makes it haram.
So al-kalaam now is haram.
Speaking is haram now.
Eating is now haram.
And all the other things that were.
So this is called takbeerat al-ihram.
So you begin the salah with that one.
And this is important to understand why.
If you came late for Maghreb, for example,
and you joined, and you didn't do takbeerat
al-ihram, did you actually join the salah?
You didn't join the salah.
So it's important to say takbeerat al-ihram.
Takbeerat al-ihram, it's the actual saying.
Allahu Akbar, with the niyah of takbeerat al
-ihram.
The raising of the hands is what?
Is it something that you have to do?
It's a sunnah.
You don't have to raise your hand.
If someone didn't raise their hand, don't go
tell them, hey, your salah is not valid.
It's a sunnah.
We're going to see that later, inshallah.
Because like we said before, it's important to
know the conditions of salah.
We covered them.
It's important to know the arkan of salah.
They're covered right now, but we're going to
cover them in detail, which are 14 of
them.
And it's important to know the wajibat of
the salah.
And everything else will be sunnah.
Everything else will be sunnah.
And some things will be surprising.
Oh, I didn't know that was a sunnah.
Why is this important to know?
Because if you leave it by mistake, you
need to know what to do.
Where should the person be looking during salah?
To the sky?
Salim is the one answering all the questions
today.
MashaAllah.
Masjidahu.
The place where he's going to do sujood.
And that's better for him, inshallah, for focus
as well.
It's not wajib.
If you didn't do it, it's not like...
Do we say the isti'adah every rak
'ah?
Every time we get up, we say, what
do you think?
You just say it once.
In the first rak'ah.
You forgot it in the first rak'ah.
Do you say it in the second rak
'ah?
You should.
So if you forgot it in the first
rak'ah, say, Allah tells us, if you're
going to read the Quran, then do the
isti'adah, which is, I seek refuge in
Allah from al-shaytan al-rajeem.
Khamsah.
Does the follower have to...
Does the follower have to say the fatiha
when the imam recites it loud?
When I recite the fatiha.
Did you have to recite it as well?
No.
In the madhab, you don't have to say
that.
It's enough for you.
In the third rak'ah, when I didn't
say it, should you say it?
You should say it.
You should say it in the third rak
'ah, because the imam is saying it for
himself, and you should say it for yourself.
That's better.
Which prayers are we supposed to read out
loud?
Ah, which prayers?
Which ones?
Al-Fajr?
Maghrib?
Al-Isha?
What else?
There's other ones.
Al-Eid?
Al-Jum'ah?
Al-Qusuf?
Yes.
Do you have to read it out loud?
Do you have to?
Huh?
It's okay.
It's not wajib for you to read it
out loud.
Okay?
It's not wajib.
Yes?
Yes?
The imam, if he doesn't pray in a
loud voice, it's not going to ruin the
prayer.
But you're going to hear a lot of
Tasbihat from the followers, right?
Like in Maghrib, if I didn't read it
out loud, everybody's going to say, SubhanAllah, SubhanAllah,
right?
Just to remind the imam.
Then you should read it out loud, because
that's the sunnah.
But we're saying, if he doesn't, Salah batilan
or Salah batilan?
InshaAllah.
He said batilan.
That's why it's important to know the fiqh,
right?
Because you want to know if Salah is
valid or not valid.
But what are the seven body parts that
must touch the floor?
In sujood.
I'm going to do sujood.
Seven must touch.
Umirtu.
Right?
The Prophet ﷺ said, I was commanded to
do sujood to seven bodies.
Which ones?
Easy, easy.
Bismillah.
Huh?
So the two feet, the two knees.
Huh?
Hands and this part.
This part.
And it's enough if you just do this
one.
But if you can do both of them,
inshaAllah.
MashaAllah.
Okay, we all passed.
Alhamdulillah.
It's interesting how much, just a quick review,
how much information you get back from just
a simple review like that.
And inshaAllah, it went from 5% to
maybe 50-60%.
So that's why it's important to do muraji
'ah.
But unfortunately, we don't really do it.
Okay.
So we were talking about, we just finished,
we stopped at the person now doing a
full raka'ah.
Right?
A full raka'ah.
So he finished a full raka'ah.
From takbir al-ihram, to sujood, ah, sorry,
to ruku'ah, getting up from ruku'ah,
saying Allahumma hamidah, Rabbana wa laka alhamd, and
then the dua'.
Then he went down to sujood.
Right?
Subhana rabbi al-a'la.
Right?
How far from perfection is Allah.
Okay?
The most high, al-a'la.
Right?
And then we did the sitting between the
two sujoods.
Right?
And what do we say in that one?
Rabbighfirli, Rabbighfirli, Rabbighfirli.
Tamam?
And what position we said you put your
feet in?
There's a name of it.
Huh?
Huh?
What's the name of the position, of the
way you put your feet?
Hmm?
Al-iftirash.
Al-iftirash.
Right?
We said al-iftirash, inshallah, after I finish
the description, I'm going to go here and
do all of it, inshallah, on camera so
everybody can see it.
But al-iftirash, we said that, you put
the left foot, my left foot, yours is
going to be the other way, my left
foot, okay, under, you're behind, and then the
right foot is like facing the qiblah like
that.
If you put it down, okay, it's okay,
not much if it hurts you, but that's
called al-iftirash.
And al-iftirash can be done in the
first tashahud.
Okay?
And between the two sujoods, and in the
last tashahud as well.
Like this, it's a sunnah to do this
one.
We're going to talk about two other positions,
where al-tawarruq is going to come up,
al-tawarruq is what you do in the
end, in all the salawat, except the one
that has two.
Right, so, he does the second position the
same as the first one.
Jameel.
So now we're getting up from the first
rakah, we're getting up from the first rakah,
we said we can get up using your
knees to get up, no problem.
Okay?
And also, if you can't, you can use
the ground.
Okay?
Jameel.
And we said that in the second rakah,
we do everything the same, except what?
You don't have to renew your niyyah.
Right?
And we said you don't have to do
takbir al-ihram, you've already done that.
And you don't have to do dua al
-istiftah.
Yes, subhanakallah, wa alhamdulillah.
And you don't have to do al-isti
'adah, a'udhu billah.
So these are the four things you don't
have to redo in the second rakah.
Tamam?
Taba'an, second rakah in all the salawat,
because all the salawat have at least minimum
second rakah.
Tayyib.
He says then he sits in the iftirash
position, which we just mentioned for the first
tashahhud.
Right?
The first tashahhud is wajib.
Okay?
The first tashahhud is wajib.
We're gonna talk about it later, but wajib
means that if you forget it, you don't
have to redo it, but you have to
do sajdah al-sahu.
Okay?
We said the difference between wajib and rukun
is that al-wajib, if you forget it,
naseet al-wajib.
Let's say you forgot the first tashahhud.
jalast hala fil maghrib, jalast.
You sat down and you didn't say the
first tashahhud and you just got up.
Okay?
This is something wajib you have to do,
but you don't have to make it up.
All you have to do is to do
sahu for it.
Okay?
Lakin al-rukun, al-rukun, if you forgot
it, you have to do it.
You have to do it.
With the sahu.
So the first tashahhud is wajib.
You will see that the second tashahhud is
rukun.
So the first tashahhud is wajib.
Okay?
And I'll have the actual tashahhud inshallah so
we can look at it and its meaning.
Hands are placed on the thigh.
Tamam?
Okay?
They shouldn't be like this or they shouldn't
be like that.
You put them on the thighs.
That is the sunnah.
Raise your right index finger.
Now, when you do the tashahhud, so in
the madhhab, what you're supposed to do, you're
supposed to raise, he says here, SubhanAllah, I
forgot to read the text.
So he says here, okay?
Let's read the Arabic.
Just because we said we're going to read
the Arabic, let's read the Arabic.
Yeah, so he says here, thumma yarfa mukabbiran
wa ajlisu muftarishan.
We just said that.
He says in iftirash, wa yuqoor bighfili thalathan.
We finished that one.
Yeah, thumma ajlisu muftarishan wa sunna wad'u
yadayhi ala fakhidayhi.
We said he puts his hand.
It's a sunnah to put his hands on
his fakhidayhi, on his thighs.
Okay?
wa qabdu al khinsari wal binsar mina al
yumna.
Al khinsari wal binsar.
Okay, maybe some biology here.
So in Arabic, all the fingers have a
name.
In English, do they have a name?
Do we have a name for each one?
We do, right?
Yeah, tayyib.
Okay, so we have, the Arabs here know
what the names of the fingers are.
So we have al khinsar, wal binsar, wal
wasta.
And what's this one called?
Sababa, right?
It's called sababa.
So, it's when you do sabwa.
Tayyib.
And then this is al ibha.
Faye says here, wa qabdu al khinsar wal
binsar.
Okay, mina al yumna.
So, qabd, like this.
wa tahliq.
Al halq is like a ring, right?
Wa tahliq.
He says, wa tahliq.
Al ibhaam, this is ibhaam.
Ma al wasta, the middle one.
Wa tahliq, so like this.
Okay?
This is like tahliq.
Okay?
Ma al wasta.
Wa isharatuhu bisababatiha.
Al ishara is to like, put it up,
with the sababa.
This is the sababa.
Okay?
This is the sababa.
Okay?
Fee tashahudin, wa dua'in, inda dhikri Allahi,
mutlaqan, wa bastu al yusra.
Tayyib, let's explain what he's saying here.
So, taban, this is one way.
There's other ways.
You can do it like this.
Okay?
No big deal.
There's different narrations.
So, no big deal.
You can do it like this.
Tamam?
Or like this.
Okay?
And then he's saying here, wa isharatuhu bisababatiha,
fee tashahudin, wa dua'in.
So, he's saying that whenever you say the
name Allah, you raise your finger.
Tamam?
So, in the tashahud, we're going to see,
like we say, al tahiyyatu lillah.
Okay?
Al tahiyyatu lillah, wa salawat, al tahiyyatu lillah,
wa salawat, wa tayyibat.
Okay?
As salamu alayka, ayyuha nabiyyu rahmatullahi.
So, you raise your finger.
Wa barakatuhu.
As salamu alayna, wa ala ibadillah.
You raise it.
Okay?
As salihin.
Ash hadu an la ilaha illallah, wa ash
hadu an muhammadan abduhu rasuluh.
Allahumma sal, and then you raise.
So, every time, they're saying, every time you
say, this is masnun, you don't have to.
Okay?
It's a sunnah.
To raise your hand every time the remembrance
of Allah is mentioned.
And this is even in dua.
Right?
And even the imam, the khateeb, in the
khutbah, ya'ni, this is something that is
recommended to do.
Okay?
Mutlaqad ya'ni, wa bastu al yusra.
Ya'ni, the yusra is there.
It's open, and it's on your, what's in
your thigh.
Okay?
So, he says here, then if this is
iftirash, the first tashahud al wajib, hatch plays
on the thigh, raise your right hand, as
we said.
Okay?
And the left hand remains on the thigh.
He says the tashahud, it is sunnah to
do it silently.
Okay?
So you should do it silently.
Why?
So you don't bother the people next to
you.
Okay?
Then he gets up again with takbeer without
raising the hand.
This is just a waqfah here.
It says here, then he gets up again
with takbeer without raising the hand.
And when we finish from the first tashahud,
do we raise the hands or not?
There's actually another narration that says, yes, you
do raise it.
Okay?
The muallif here, the author did not mention
it.
And it's another riwayah in the madhhab that
you do raise it.
Okay?
So you can raise it or not raise
it.
It's up to you.
So after the first tashahud, okay, you can
get up and say Allah, but you have
to say this is wajib.
But do you have to raise your hands?
It's sunnah.
It's sunnah to raise it.
Okay?
If you don't raise it, there's no problem.
Okay?
He's saying here without raising the hands, but
that's one riwayah.
And another riwayah, you raise your hands.
Then he says, the first tashahud.
So let's just go through it.
So at-tahiyyatu lillahi wa-s-salawatu wa
-t-tayyibatu.
And it's, a lot of us, we pray
a salah, we don't know what we're saying
in the tahiyyat, right?
So what's at-tahiyyat in Arabic?
At-tahiyyah.
Tahiyyatu wa-fiha salam.
Allah says.
It's salutation, greeting.
Okay?
So you're saying at-tahiyyatu lillahi.
All the greetings and salutations to Allah.
Belong to Allah.
At-tahiyyatu lillahi.
And all the prayers.
Wa-s-salawatu.
And all the good things.
Wa-t-tayyibat.
So at-tahiyyatu.
Wa-s-salawatu.
Wa-t-tayyibat.
All belong to Allah.
Okay?
So you're kind of praising Allah.
At-tahiyyatu lillahi.
Wa-s-salawatu.
Wa-t-tayyibatu.
And then you're saying, you're sending salam.
As-salamu alayka ayyuhan nabi.
You're sending salam now.
Peace.
Okay?
Dua.
Upon the Nabi salallahu alayhi wa sallam.
As-salamu alayka ayyuhan nabi.
It's like you're speaking to him.
Ayyuhan nabi.
Wa-rahmatullahi.
And also the rahma of Allah.
The mercy of Allah.
And his barakat.
Wa-barakatuh.
Right?
And his blessings.
So you're sending the peace, and the prayers,
and the blessings upon the Prophet salallahu alayhi
wa sallam.
And look at this one.
This is very beautiful.
As-salamu alayna.
Okay?
So you're saying, as-salamu alayna.
You're making dua for yourself.
As-salamu alayna.
And you know what's interesting about tajahud?
You're making dua for everybody.
If you didn't know that.
As-salamu alayna.
Well, not everybody actually.
You're sending, you're making dua for who?
Ibadillah as-salihin.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us
from.
Ibadillah as-salihin.
That's one of the nice things.
If you always try to be from the
righteous people, then you get this dua.
Everybody who's making, everybody who's doing tajahud right
now on earth.
Okay?
If you're from Ibadillah as-salihin, they're making
dua to you.
Subhanallah.
So, if there was a reason why you
should try to be from the righteous servants
of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, then this
is one of the reasons.
The author, he says here, as-salih.
He's giving the definition of as-salih.
Someone who is righteous.
He says, as-salih al-qa'im bi
-hukooqillah.
The one who gives the rights of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala wa hukooqi ibadih.
And he gives the rights to his slaves.
Aw al-ikthar bina al-amal as-salih
bi-haythu la yu'araf minhu ghayruh.
Okay?
Wa yadkhul fihi an-nisaa and the children.
Tamam.
So, the one who gives the rights of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the rights
of the other people.
You give them their rights, their salam, their,
you know, all the rights that they have.
Right?
And the one who tries to do as
many good deeds as possible.
Insha'Allah, may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
make us from ibadillah salihin.
And then you say, ash-hadu.
That's why it's called a-tashahud.
You're bearing witness, right?
Yeah, that I testify.
Ash-hadu an-la ilaha illallah.
This is the kalima.
Ash-hadu an-la ilaha illallah.
I bear witness that there is no god
worthy of worship except Allah.
Wa an-na muhammadan abduhu wasuluh.
And that Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is
his slave and his messenger.
So this is at-tashahud al-ula.
And he said that this is what?
This is wajib.
And you have to do it.
If you forget it, you don't have to
make it up.
But you have to do sahoo for it.
So then he says, then he prays.
So, yeah.
Thumma yatashahad.
Fayakool.
At-tahiyyatu lillahi wassalawatu wa tayyibatu.
As-salamu alayka ayyuhu nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa
barakatuhu.
As-salamu alayna wa ala ibadillah al-salihin.
Ash-hadu an-la ilaha illallah wa ash
-hadu an-na muhammadan abduhu wasuluh.
Thumma yanhadhu fee maghribin wa ruba'iyyah mukabbiran.
Yanhadhu.
He gets up, right?
In a salah of four or maghrib.
Which one he doesn't get up in?
Which salah he doesn't get up in now?
Fajr.
If you're praying Fajr, you're not going to
get up, obviously.
You're going to do the second tajahud, right?
Wa yusalli al-baqi kadhalik sarran muqtasiran ala
al-fatihah.
So now he says, okay, now, if we're
done maghrib now, two rak'ahs, we're going
to get up now.
Okay, we said you can raise your hand,
you don't have to raise your hand.
And now you're going to read al-fatihah
only.
This is the sunnah, is to read al
-fatihah only.
So in maghrib you read, you have one
more rak'ah, you're going to read al
-fatihah.
Okay, and you read it to yourself.
wa yusalli kadhalik sarran muqtasiran al-fatihah muqtasiran
al-fatihah meaning he only reads al-fatihah
thumma yajasu mutawarrikan.
So now he says, if the last rak
'ah after the first tajahud, then he sits
in tawarruk position.
So now, the first one was iftirash, right,
iftirash, this one is down.
At tawarruk, what happens, at tawarruk is when
this foot goes under, okay, this foot goes
under, and you're sitting on your left behind.
Okay, I did it in the salah just
to show you how it is.
It's easier to do, I don't know, with
the thawb it's a bit hard, but with
the, I think usually with pants it's much
easier to do.
And this is the sunnah, the Prophet shallallahu
alaihi wa sallam would do this in the
last rak'ah.
Okay, in the last rak'ah.
Okay, so if it's the last rak'ah
after the first tashahud, then he sits in
tawarruk position.
If only two rak'ah prayer, then you
only do iftirash, the first one that we
talked about.
So these are all sunnah, these are all
sunnah.
If you can do it, no problem.
If it's painful, you don't have to do
it, okay.
Then he said the salawat on the top,
so now we're in the tashahud al-akhirah.
We're now in the last tashahud.
Okay, so it says here, He sits in
the tawarruk position.
I'm going to show it in a bit,
inshallah.
So he comes with the first tashahud that
we mentioned, at-tahiyyatu lillah, okay.
So now he says the salawat.
There's multiple narrations of this.
There's multiple narrations of this.
This is the narration of Mas'ud, one
of the most popular ones, okay.
And so, the salawat on the Prophet shallallahu
alaihi wasallam, the minimum you have to say,
Allahumma salli ala Muhammad.
If you don't do the whole thing, the
minimum you have to come up with is,
Allahumma salli ala Muhammad shallallahu alaihi wasallam.
This is the minimum that you can do.
Okay, if someone says, what is the minimum?
That is the minimum.
If someone just accepted Islam, you tell them
this is the minimum.
You say Allahumma salli ala Muhammad, then this
is enough.
And this is a rukun.
What does rukun mean?
If you miss it, and you don't do
it again, then your raka'ah, your one
raka'ah, doesn't count.
So you have to, if you forget it,
you have to do it.
You have to do that salawat, okay.
The rest of the salawat is sunnah, right,
the whole, the long one that I just
mentioned, is sunnah.
And then it says here, wasunnah, yeah.
To seek refuge, in four things, okay.
Wasunnah and itta'awwad, in these things, right.
The dua is known, after the tashahhud, okay.
Innaka hameedun majeed.
He says, actually I have the hadith here,
so let's do it.
I want to mention something here.
The muallif says something here that we need
to discuss.
He says here, wa tabtulu, okay, wa tabtulu
bidu'a'in bi'amrid dunya.
Okay, and this is a big masala, there's
a big discussion about it.
Because they say here that, the hanabilah, they
see, well actually all the madhab, they see
that, talking extra talk, other than salah, ruins
the salah, tubtulus salah, okay.
Invalidates the salah.
If you're praying, and then you start singing
a song or something, or just saying random
stuff, okay, Muhammad come here, or something like
that, that invalidates the salah.
Tubtulus salah, okay.
Everybody, that make sense?
So the hanabi now, they're saying well, the
dua, they say the dua should only be
the dua for the akhira, okay.
And dua, and they're flexible, doesn't have to
be from the sunnah, the dua that the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned.
They say no.
And here they're talking about after the shahood,
and in sujood, okay.
But they're saying here, that the salah, is
invalidated if someone makes dua for dunya.
If someone make dua in dunya.
So you finish the shahood, they say oh
Allah, give me a nice car.
Oh Allah, give me a house.
Oh Allah, this, this, okay.
So they're saying this, we consider it as
speech.
They're saying we consider it speech, so because
we consider it as speech, okay, then this,
tubtulus salah.
Another way in the madhhab is that it
doesn't, okay.
And what makes sense is that it doesn't.
And that's why I want to stop here,
okay.
Why?
Because, and Nabi Salah Salaam, in another hadith,
he mentioned that when the person finished the
shahood, and he says the dua we're gonna
go through now, that oh Allah, I seek
protection in you.
Then he says, he makes dua for whatever
he wants.
This is a hadith Nabi Salah Salaam mentioned,
that the person after he does that, he
seeks protection from those four things, then he
makes dua for whoever he wants.
So this kind of contradicts the fact that
the person shouldn't make dua for the dunya.
And even in the dua, it says that
I seek refuge in you from al-maghram,
al-maghram aish, duyoon ya'ni, from debt.
And that's something dunya way as well, tamam?
It seems like this opinion is a bit
strict, and it seems like the stronger opinion
is that the second riwayah of the madhhab
is that you can make dua.
You can make dua after you do the
ista'awwad and even in sujood, even in
sujood.
What you shouldn't do in sujood is read
Qur'an in sujood.
What you shouldn't do in sujood, we have
ahadith mentioning that you shouldn't read Qur'an
in sujood, tamam?
But you're allowed to make dua.
Does that make sense?
Everybody okay with that one?
Atfadad?
Yeah, this is where there's a khilaf as
well, right?
Don't read the ayah, just make the dua.
That should be fine inshallah.
Ya'ni I know some ayat have a
dua in them, but you can say the
dua.
That's fine.
But you don't read the ayah.
Just to, ya'ni, khuruj min khilaf.
Because khuruj min khilaf, ya'ni, doing something
that avoids the other opinions, it's recommended to
do that if you can, right?
Some of the ulama, they say, khuruj min
khilaf, do your dua for the dunya after
the salah, okay?
Lakin subhanAllah, there's no real strong dalil to
make it, ya'ni, because here the Hanabal
are saying, if you make dua for the
dunya, your salah is gone.
It's a very strong opinion and you need
very strong dalil for that.
And so they saw that making dua for
dunya is speech, right?
So you see where they're coming from.
Tayyib.
Taba'an, making this dua is from the
sunnah.
Tayyib.
Let's read the second tajahud.
So allahumma salli ala muhammadin wa ala aali
muhammad kama sallayta ala ibrahim wa ala aali
muhammad.
So here you're making dua, you're sending salam
upon the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, and
also upon Ibrahim Alayhi Salam, okay, so you're
saying, oh, allahumma salli ala muhammad, oh allah
praise the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and
his family, wa ala aali muhammad kama sallayta
ala ibrahim, okay, as you praise Ibrahim and
the family of Ibrahim, wa ala aali ibrahim,
okay, innaka hamidun majid, okay, you're full of
glory, tamam, full of praise, hamidun majid, ya
'ni, hamid from hamd, right, you are full
of praise, and majd is glory, and full
of glory, wa baraka ala muhammad wa ala
aali muhammad kama barakta ala ibrahim wa ala
aali ibrahim, innaka hamidun majid, there's another narration,
fil alameena innaka hamidun majid, no problem, both
narrations are fine, so this is the second
tashahud, and this is the one that we
said is what, okay, we said this is
the one that is rukun, right, you have
to do it, the dua after the tashahud,
allahumma inni ya'udhu bika min adhabil qabr,
this is a sunnah, and it's a good
dua to do, okay, because this is a
dua that will protect you from the punishment
of al qabr, right, and we know that
the punishment of al qabr is an intense
punishment, allahumma inni ya'udhu bika min adhabil
qabr, and by the way, this is a
dalil for those people who say there's no
adhab in the qabr, if there was no
adhab in the qabr, would it make sense
that you seek protection from it, because there's
a group of people that say what, there's
no adhab in the qabr, okay, but why
would the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam tell
us to seek protection from something that doesn't
exist, ya'ni, it's very wadih, ya'ni,
but it's an opinion that spread a lot,
especially in the Arab countries, that there's no
such thing as adhab al qabr, but that's
something that is very clear in the sunnah
and in the quran, okay, in the quran,
what's the dalil, anybody know?
We have at least two ayahs.
So because in the surah ghafir, it says,
Allah's talking about fir'aun and his people,
okay, they're being punished right now, okay, and
then he says, and when the day of
judgment comes, then enter, okay, the family of
fir'aun, or the people of fir'aun,
in the most intense punishment, so he's saying,
so where is this punishment, of course it's
talking about the punishment of the grave, and
there's another dalil in surah as-sajdah, the
ayah is not coming to me, but it's
in surah as-sajdah, for adhab al qabr,
so, number one, punishment of the grave, the
biggest fitnah that is going to happen for
everybody is what, fitnah masih al dajjal, and
this is a fitnah that every nabi, the
prophet s.a.w. told us that every
nabi warned about fitnah masih al dajjal, and
you can imagine, why is it such a
great fitnah?
Because this guy is going to come, and
he's going to do things that only god
can do, and Allah will give him permission,
it will be a drought, and he'll tell
them, I'm going to make the clouds come
and rain, so this is something ajeeb, and
so people are going to be like, this
is god, so it's a big fitnah, and
the prophet s.a.w. told us, if
he comes your way, go the opposite way,
and people are supposed to go in Mecca
and Medina, and this is from the alamat
al sa'a, و أعوذ بك من فتنة
المسيح الدجال و أعوذ بك من فتنة المحيى
والممات and I seek protection from the fitnah
of life and the fitnah of death, right,
any fitnah in life, it's a beautiful dua,
and the fitnah of death, because in death
you don't know what's going to happen to
you, are you going to die on Islam,
not Islam, right, the dua of Yusuf, توفني
مسلماً و أدخلني الصالحين, may Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala return us to him as Muslims,
ameen inshallah, ameen ya rabbal alameen, طيب فتنة
المحيى و اللهم إني أعوذ بك من المأثمين,
this is another narration, some people, there's one
narration that only has those, another narration has,
اللهم إني أعوذ بك من المأثم والمغرم, right,
and I seek refuge with you from the
sins, المأثم and from being in debt, and
it's a beautiful dua, it's mentioned that the
sahaba, they asked him, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, why are you saying, why do you
seek a lot of protection in, المغرم, like
in debt, right, and he said Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, because debt causes a person to lie
and break promises, right, and you see the
person who has a lot of debt, may
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protect us from
debt, first of all, it's a lot of
stress, subhanAllah, debt is something that, and probably,
there's a lot more debt than ever before
now, because now we live in a time
of debt, debt is being sold everywhere, the
most powerful nation on earth, like 60%
of its size, it's debt, and the average
person now has multiple credit cards, all of
it debt, subhanAllah, it's a big fitna, it's
a big fitna, so may Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala protect us, so this is a
dua you say every time, and some people
they'll say, ask how do I, you know,
get rid of my debt, say this dua,
say this dua inshallah, with the proper niya,
and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will get
you out of debt, because it's a serious
thing, and we have a hadith where the
prophet, a person died, and he had debt,
he died with debt, okay, the prophet said
who will pay for his, for this, for
their brother, and I believe it was Abu
Darda radiallahu anhu said I will pay it,
and so the prophet saw him the next
day, he said did you pay his debt,
he said no, and then the prophet reminded
him, and then he saw him the next
day, he said did you pay his debt,
he said yes, and the prophet said now
his punishment stopped, and the punishment in the
grave, they're very related here, so a debt
is very dangerous, very, and you have to
be very careful, someone might say oh I'll
pay it off, how do you know you're
not gonna die, and how do you know
that someone's gonna pay your debt, subhanAllah, what
if it's a big amount, I mean some
of us have huge debts, so we have
to be very careful from from debt, so
that's the dua it's recommended to say after
the tashahud, the second tashahud, so then he
says, then he ends with the taslim, okay,
let's explain what that means, so he says,
then he says, the turning, you don't have
to do it, that's something that's recommended, it's
a sunnah, okay, but assalam, it's, you have
to do it, and he says here, okay,
you have to do it in order, okay,
you don't say, in the same order, okay,
so don't say salamun, okay, say assalamu, assalamu
alaikum warahmatullah, and you don't add wabarakatuh, you
don't add, that's not part of the saying,
okay, so you say twice is rukun, so
saying it is a rukun, meaning if you
leave it out, your rakah doesn't count, you
have to say assalamu alaikum warahmatullah, must be
said in order, should not add wabarakatuh, should
not stretch it, okay, they're just saying do
it properly, in the madhhab too, salamu alaikum
warahmatullah, I know in the Maliki madhhab it's
different, when I was in Algeria, they would
do that, salamu alaikum warahmatullah, yeah, yeah, sahih,
in the Ahmadiyya madhhab, they say two is,
and if you want to just, it must
be in the ma'rifah, not in the
nakirah, nakirah means it's indefinite, salamu alaikum warahmatullah,
you say assalamu alaikum warahmatullah, if you're a
follower, then you must wait until the imam
finishes both taslims, so because the imam was
put there for you to follow him, so
don't just say before him, right, and as
he's saying, and then you run, let him
finish, salamu alaikum warahmatullah, and then you say
your salam right after him, okay, moving the
right, moving the head to the right and
left during taslim is sunnah, okay, so that
is sunnah, and then now he talks about
the woman, so now, because everything is the
same, he says, and the woman, her salah
is just like the man, except he's going
to mention a few things, okay, however, what
does it mean, remember we said when she's
doing sujood, the man can kind of open,
he can kind of have some space between
his arms and his waist, but he says,
for the woman, she closes those areas, it's
astar for her, it's more protective for her,
right, he says in ruku and sujood, and
then he says, okay, so
for the woman, and even actually for the
man, but for the woman, she can sit
in english, what's the word for that, cross,
feet crossed, cross feet, something like that, okay,
where you cross your feet, how would you
sit normally, sit, sit, like cross your feet,
yeah, like that, so that's, so the woman,
and even the man, by the way, you
can sit like that, like in the sunnah
for the man is to sit, we said,
okay, and all of them except the last
one, and I'm going to show it all
right now inshallah, but for the woman, she
can sit like that, she sits the way
we were sitting like the man, okay, but
she puts both her feet to the right
side, okay, like that, okay, imam ahmed says
this is afdal, okay, we have a narration
from ibn umar that says that one is
afdal, both of them are fine, both of
them are fine for her, and it says
here, yeah, so the woman prays just like
a man except she gathers her limbs together
and does not leave spaces, yeah, referring to
between her arms and sides and her thighs
and stomach, right, like we were saying when
we do sujood or ruku, she sits cross
-legged, right, like that, or like tawarruk, but
she spreads, right, both her legs to the
right, okay, of one side, okay, and they
said, yeah, this is what the author says,
the latter one where she puts both her
feet right behind, I'm going to show inshallah,
it's better because it resembles that of a
man, but whichever one is fine, whichever one
is fine, by the will of Allah, okay,
what is the disliked things in the prayer,
right, so this is a hukum, something disliked,
if you avoid it, you get ajr, if
you do it, are you sinful, no, you're
not sinful if you do it, if you
do it intentionally, you might be sinful actually,
intentionally, I mean, you're doing something that is
makrooh, it might fall into sin, moving the
head left or right without need, you're praying
and you just start doing it, okay, so
this is something that is makrooh in salah,
when is it okay to do it, if
there's a need, okay, so he says, bila
haja, okay, so what's a haja, like for
example, mother has a baby and he's about
to fall down or something or she's worried
he's going to fall down, so she can
look, no problem, and there's no karaha there,
it's okay for her, so if you have
a haja or you're scared, I don't know,
you're scared something's going to fall or something's
going to hit you or you heard something,
that's fine, okay, but without a need, it's
makrooh to do that, can it break your
salah, it can break your salah if you
do it multiple times with no need, you're
just going like this, right, people do that
sometimes, they're just going like this or they're
turning, and they say if you turn your
whole body with no need, then khalas, your
salah is batil, your salah doesn't count anymore,
tamam, so it says here, if done a
lot, then it will invalidate the prayer, what's
a lot, they say ghorfan, what's a lot,
the best judgment I've seen, the best hukum
I've seen is, a lot is, if someone
saw you, you'd be like, this guy's not
praying, if someone saw you moving a lot,
and you're like, this guy, is he praying
or he's not praying, that would be considered
a lot, so more than three times, someone
going like this, okay, he's moving, checking his
hat, whatever, so that would be a lot,
what's a need to kind of turn or
move, for example, a phone, is it a
need, yeah, if you go to the ghaleej,
the biggest one, what is it, anybody know,
they have to just, you know, and then
they go like this, and then, right, and
then they're like, you know, it's like they
have a mirror in front of them, and
they have to, you know, but this is
something that is, you shouldn't do it, and
so he says, it's moving the head left
to right without need, to sit, let's talk
about this one, okay, so, there's a big
discussion about al-iqa'a, anybody know what
iqa'a means, because the hadith came about
this, okay, the prophet, he said that you
shouldn't do this, and the problem came because
there's two opinions about what it is, they
said one opinion is al-iqa'a is
when, you know, when you sit down, and
you lift both your feet, and your back
is on your heels, right, you've seen people
sit like that, so this is al-iqa
'a, before you tell me if this is
okay or not, this is al-iqa'a,
I'm going to show you now, so when
both your feet are like this, right, and
then your behind is on your heels, okay,
they say, one opinion said this is al
-iqa'a, the second opinion said al-iqa
'a, no, is when your both feet are
spread out, are split, and your behind is
on the floor, both, your full behind, okay,
is on your, they say, because this is
like the dog, okay, the dog sits like
that, you shouldn't sit like that, now, there's
a narration where Ibn Abbas was sitting with
his back on his heel, okay, and they
asked him, what are you doing, he said,
this is the sunnah, it's a sunnah to
do this, and one of the sunnahs is
to do that between the sajdatain, between the
sajdatain, so from that, some of the ulama
said, well, okay, then the real al-iqa
'a is when your feet are split like
that, okay, and your behind is on the
floor, okay, and some children sit like that,
and I think there's a, it's not healthy
to do that, to the best of my
knowledge, once I show you, you'll understand what
I'm talking about, even doctors will tell your
children not to do it, why, what does
it do, yeah, yeah, and it causes knee
problems and things like that, and I think
females are more prone to do it, but
it's something that, alhamdulillah, the sunnah, you know,
if you follow the sunnah, you'll be protected,
inshallah, I'll show it to you now, what
al-iqa'a is, so, so it's disliked
to sit that way, okay, like this, and
your behind is on the, is in between
them, touching the floor, okay, so this is
something makrooh, you shouldn't do, lakin, the other
one is fine, the other one where you,
where you're on your heel, that one's fine,
what's also disliked, placing forearms and elbows on
the ground while in sujood, okay, so he
says here, waftirashu dhira'aihi, okay, dhira' is
what, this is dhira', waftirashu dhira'aihi, sajidan,
okay, why, because this is also like the
dog, you know, when you're doing sujood, this
should not be touching the floor, because they
say this is how the dog sits, this
is, you know, to honor the son of
Adam, you shouldn't sit like the dog, sajidan,
says, wa'abath, okay, and he's just playing
around, just, you know, someone has a rock,
or whatever, or he's playing with, or he's,
you know, cracking, or, you know, just fixing,
just playing around, checking, and pockets, okay, you
shouldn't do that, too much of that, then
someone sees this guy praying, then khalas, your
salah is batil, right, he's just playing around
with sand, hands, clothes, etc., al-abath, and
he's just wasting time and doing random things,
al-takhassur, what's al-takhassur, al-khasr is
your, al-khasr is your side, it's disliked
to do that, it's like, you should do
this in salah, right, it's disliked to do
that in salah, does it ruin your salah?
No, I guess if it's makrooh, it doesn't
ruin your salah, but it's disliked, we have
a hadith from Aisha, that al-takhassur is
something that you shouldn't, um, yeah, and, and
this is, um, this is a good, uh,
kind of, uh, reminder about, um, the importance
of usul al-fiqh, here naha, nahi, the
default is a nahi, and nahi is usually
what, tahreem, kharam, if the Prophet said naha,
he prohibited it, okay, but here the ulama,
they said what?
Disliked, okay, and so this is where the
alim, this is the difficult job of alim,
is he has to see all the daleels,
okay, and if nahi has something showing that
it's, it doesn't, it doesn't ruin your salah,
then they would say that, right, so that's
why it's not enough to just read the
hadith, okay, and then you say, oh, this
is kharam, right, because we have a lot
of things that the Prophet said naha, okay,
and, uh, it doesn't mean that it, it,
uh, it invalidates, uh, the salah, okay, and
then he says, uh, so muqtasiran, nahm, and
then he says, wa farqa'at asabi' wa
tashbikaha, al-asabi', your fingers, cracking, this is
very common in the khaleej, right, they just,
I don't know why, here, alhamdulillah, it's not
very common, but over there, like, all the
teenagers, just like, cracking your knuckles, okay, neck,
the back, the whole, the whole thing, but
this is something that is makrooh, and all
the things that we're saying here, makrooh, if
you do it too much, it's gonna what?
Invalidate your salah, tamam, it's gonna invalidate your
salah, so if someone did like this, okay,
for a bit, and then put it down,
no problem, because what happens, someone is sitting
praying, then he wants to what?
He wants to stretch, you know, like that
or something, okay, so this is something makrooh,
okay, but if he does it for the
whole time, what's gonna happen?
Khalas, his salah is invalidated, right, this is
what we understand, if you do it too
much, and then he says, yeah, and tashbik,
this, tashbik al-asabi', this is also something
that is makrooh, someone does like this, or
whatever else, how else you can do it,
so cracking the fingers, yeah, interlocking the fingers,
the one who's holding his, okay, yeah, his
urine, or number two, so the one who's
holding that, yeah, and he needs to go
to the bathroom, and he still goes to
pray, he's like, you know, I don't wanna
lose my wudu, I'm too lazy to make
wudu, this is something that is makrooh, why?
Because you cannot focus, and you're praying quickly,
tamam, and you're like, hurry up, if you
need to go to the bathroom, go to
the bathroom and make wudu, you might say,
well, what if I'm gonna miss half the
jama'a, what's better, what do you guys
think?
Well, I'll drink some water, anybody disagree?
Make wudu is better?
Yeah, make wudu, go, use the bathroom, okay,
and make wudu, what's the problem?
Yeah, okay, yeah, so you pray jama'a,
and it's akmal, and it's better, because it's
salah with khushu'a, okay, even if you
reach half of it, it's akmal, tab'an,
al-akmal is you do it before the
jama'a, but I'm saying in the scenario
where, mathalan, you go and you're like, oh
my god, I have to go, should I,
okay, no, go, go do it, okay, that's
awla, that's better, because you're going to pray,
you're going to stand in front of Allah
Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la, you want
to be able to focus, tamam, so anything
that, so also someone who, okay, someone who's
craving food, you're craving food, or you're thinking
about something else, or the person wants to
be with his wife, okay, they say if
you can do that before, do it, okay,
do it, if you can do it before,
you can eat, you can drink, so don't
go to the salah starving, okay, or hungry,
except for Ramadan, Ramadan, you're not going to
go eat, hadith, they told us you have
to eat, tamam, so dinner is presented, okay,
and it's isha, what do you do first?
We have a hadith, about al-asha, qabla
al-asha, everybody memorized that hadith, right, so
yeah, if a food is served, okay, and
you're hungry, okay, and there's jama'a, you're
allowed to eat your food, okay, tamam, and
then go to jama'a, and even some
ulama said, and you eat until you're satisfied,
and it's not like you take a bite,
you go, no, because here, the hadith is
that you go to salah, hudu, khushu, and
make sure you tell your wife, do it
before, or you plan, that's better, like if
it happens, right, you do that, jameel, some
important points, what time is the adhan?
The question is, does it break your salah?
I think that's the most important question, is
it okay?
You shouldn't, we said you should follow the
imam, you should follow the imam, does it
break your salah?
I don't know if it does break your
salah, I don't think there's, but it's not
something recommended, you should wait until the imam
says his taslim, right, just like you have
to, you do your salah after he does
his salah, the same thing with the one
who came late, the one who comes to
continuous salah, he comes late, then he should
wait, because even sometimes he might be a
musafir, he might say something, and sometimes the
imam, he might say something, or he might,
what if he does sahoo, you don't know,
what if he does sahoo?
He's going to do sahoo, you're already up,
now you have to do sahoo for that,
now you have to do sahoo for getting
up without finishing with the imam, but that's
where you have to be careful, you just
wait until he finishes, he's done, okay, he's
not doing anything else, then you do it,
but some important points, he says, if something,
he makes a mistake, or if something erroneous
happens, like a mistake, the man will say
subhanallah, the imam does something wrong, or he
makes a mistake, you say subhanallah, he missed
the rak'ah, he missed the, say subhanallah,
and the woman, okay, we have a hadith
that she will make like a sound, right,
and so,
button on this one, she just makes a
sound, okay, if it's a woman, if it's
just a woman, or she's with a woman,
but usually if the man says it, that's
enough, okay, so that's what happens if he
makes a sound, yeah, this is,
there's a whole section on the imam, inshallah
we're going to get there, it's going to
discuss it, but yeah, this is something problematic,
okay, if you say something and the imam
doesn't fix it, or doesn't recognize, then the
only thing, we have to follow the imam,
okay, what are you going to do, Abu
Abdullah, you tell him after, you can tell
him after, and then maybe you will do
like a sajjad sahoo, or something like that,
if it's a rukun, you will get up
and make up a rak'ah, you'll have
to make it up, okay, we'll talk about
the arkan, like he forgot a whole rak
'ah, that's a whole bunch of rukuns there,
they have to make it up after together,
they'll make it up together, he'll lead it,
and then they'll do like a sahoo, you
correct him, you don't say subhanallah, you correct
him, is it in everything, this is where
it gets a bit, do you correct him
for talqala, tanween, idgham, do you correct him
for the tajweed rules, okay, if you're going
to do that, then nobody's going to finish
the salah, because the majority of people, they
don't have itqal of ahkam al-tajweed, right,
al-ikhfaa, wal-idhhaar, lakin, in the letters,
and the harakat, wajib, it's wajib on us
to correct him, because it can change the
meaning, it can change the meaning, remember they
said about the fatiha, they even counted the
tashdeedat, 11 tashdeedat, if he misses one, then
his salah might be, his rak'ah might
be batin, right, so it's very important that,
then he talks about now, okay, what if
there's some like spit, or some ukis, okay,
so you see, وَيَزِيلُ بُسَاقًا وَنَحْوَهُ بِثَوْبِهِ طبعًا
if you come and there's like some, you
know, there's spit, or there's some ukis, or
something like that, remove it before you pray,
right, not because it's najis, but because it's
something that's going to ruin your salah, remember
we said before, it's not really najis, we
never said, we said spit, and all those
things are not najis, okay, but to remove
it, but what if you're in salah, and
you need to like spit, or you need
to like, I don't know, just spit something,
or whatever from your mouth, can you spit
like in the masjid, or, so he says
here that if you're outside the masjid, okay,
you can spit, but not in front of
you, or on your right, we have hadith
about that, but you spit where, on your
left side, okay, you spit on your left,
if you're outside praying, and you're praying in
the park, you were playing soccer, and then
you're praying, and then you have to spit,
you have to spit, not just for fun,
you just want to spit, but you have
to spit, okay, huh, yeah, yeah, that's the
problem, if you're by yourself, yeah, if you're
next to someone, that's what he says, then
you use a mandeel, or on your clothes,
clothes, and you have like, some people have
like this, and maybe they blow their nose
with it, some, some people do, and you
have a or something, or a headscarf, and
so sometimes they'll blow their nose with it,
or spit in it, if they need to
spit, the most common thing is when you
have a cold, you need to blow your
nose, you can take your mandeel, or high,
and just blow your nose, okay, especially if
it's going to distract you in the salah,
okay, you do that, the imam just finished,
what does he do, can he stand facing
the qibla, okay, he shouldn't, and he shouldn't
stand facing the qibla the whole time, he
should turn around and, and face the, the
followers, he should face, okay, the followers, it's
makrooh for him to just stand there, and
just face the qibla, to do that, it
says here, after the prayer, so the tasbihat,
okay, now, so now, in the madhhab, the
tasbihat, okay, you say subhanallah, right, alhamdulillah, wallahu
akbar, in the madhhab, they say, you say
them together, right, subhanallah, alhamdulillah, wallahu akbar, subhanallah,
alhamdulillah, 33 times, but you have the choice,
it's not like something that you have to
do, but in the madhhab, I'm just telling
you that, they do them together, like subhanallah,
alhamdulillah, wallahu akbar, subhanallah, alhamdulillah, wallahu akbar,
subhanallah, alhamdulillah, 33 times, and the other adhkar,
maybe we can cover another day, right, what
do you say after salah, let's go through
some that we do together, first thing you
do, astaghfirullah,
Astaghfirullah,
Astaghfirullah, Astaghfirullah, Astaghfirullah, Astaghfirullah, Astaghfirullah,
He says don't leave any Salah except that
you say Allahumma inni ala dhikrika wa shukrika
wa husni ibadatika O Allah help me remember
you Someone might say how do I become
a better, better at remembering Allah?
Say this du'a, Allahumma inni ala dhikrika
Someone might say how do I become a
more grateful person?
Hayya, wa inni ala shukrika, okay Wa husni
ibadatika, the best deeds, to do the deeds
properly Wa husni ibadatika He says here if
he moves on to another phase or position
of the prayer he should not go back
Even if he skipped the sunnah, okay It
is disliked to do that Taib, jameel The
next part that we have is Arkan and
the wajibat of Salah What I want to
do now before the Adhan in the next
five minutes Is I want to just do
it here, inshallah Everything we did, okay And
maybe I'll ask you guys to help me
do it, inshallah So now this is Sifat
al-Salah What we'll do next week, inshallah,
is we're going to go through the Arkan
and the wajibat And then we're going to
pray with just those Just so you see
what does a bare minimum Salah look like
So now we're going to do the one
with the sunnah, okay But next week, inshallah,
I'll have to practice it because we're not
used to that But to show you what
a bare minimum Salah next week What does
it mean bare minimum?
You're doing the Arkan and the wajibat Does
that make sense?
Because in our Salah we do sunnah as
well, right?
So it's good to know which one is
the high So I'll do that one, inshallah
So the first thing, he makes wudu' at
home If he doesn't, he does it here
So he faces the shurut We make sure
we have tahara The time has entered We're
facing the Qibla Right now I'm not facing
the Qibla But let's assume I'm facing the
Qibla So I'm facing the Qibla, what else?
We said tahara There's no najasa, we make
sure there's no najasa Cover the awrah and
the niyyah So I made the niyyah right
now I want to pray isha So in
my heart, niyyah that I'm praying isha We
said, one of the ways of sunnah is
to do it here This is mankab, right?
So we say allahu akbar Then we said
that he can do it here, like this
He can do it like this, or like
this The hanabilah, they say it's not recommended
to do it We don't really have much
evidence But we have plenty of evidence like
this And plenty of evidence like this So
now he's started What do I say first
now?
Du'a al-istiftah, right?
Subhanahu wa ta'ala Muhammad Yeah, what else?
So we say the du'a al-istiftah
Now I say what?
A'udhu billahi minash shaitanir rajim Bismillahir rahmanir
rahim Al-Fatiha Alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen So now
we're at the beginning of the salah I
need to finish al-Fatiha and then what?
What's the sunnah?
To read another surah In isha we said
it's okay to read from The length of
anything from Anybody remember what was the surahs?
Anything from mursalat up to?
Up to where?
I think we said, did we say al
-mulk?
Something in the middle Not too long, like
The long surahs like qaf, right?
And al-dhariyat, and tur Those ones in
fajr And the equivalent of them Right now
in isha we'll read something from the middle
Maybe al-mursalat, al-insan Something that length
Like a page and a half, two pages
So we're gonna read that surah I'm done
with that What am I gonna do now?
So I'm gonna say Allahu Akbar And I'm
gonna do ruku' We have to do the
actual Allahu Akbar This is something that is
recommended So I'm gonna do ruku' now And
we said that it's recommended to Try to
make it flat Try to make your If
you can't, no problem Hands are here So
I'm doing ruku' here What do I say
in ruku'?
Subhana rabbiyal adheem The minimum is one Wa
al-akmal We said thalatha And we said
the imam can do up to ten Now
what do I say?
Samee'allahu liman hamida I'm raising my hand
So technically there's only four times You raise
your hand Takbeerat al-ihram When I go
to sujood When I get up from sujood
Samee'allahu liman hamida And then when I
get up after the First tashahud Technically there's
four In your salah Samee'allahu liman hamida
Who says this?
The imam or the one who's by himself?
Samee'allahu liman hamida Rabbana wa lakal hamd
You can put these down Or put them
here No problem Rabbana wa lakal hamd Who
says this?
The imam and the follower And the one
who's by himself Rabbana wa lakal hamd All
three of them say it The imam, the
follower And the one who if he prays
by himself Rabbana wa lakal hamd And you
can say And there's multiple narrations So now
I'm done with that Now what do I
do?
Now I'm going to sujood So we said
when we go to sujood now The Hanabali
they say You go with your feet first
And then I'm gonna go And what he
was saying about spaces Is here So it's
okay to have space These should be here
around this area And we said don't close
this area You open it a bit Your
feet, they should be separated So subhana rabbiyal
a'la One time minimum Three is akmal
You can make dua in your sujood No
problem Now you go to This is the
jalsa between the sajdatain Now this is where
you can do You can do iftiraash This
is iftiraash Where the one foot is standing
like this And the other one is under
You can also leave it like this If
it hurts This is iftiraash This is sunnah
And this is the other one that we
said that Some said it's makrooh But the
strongest opinion Seems that this is allowed as
well And you can do this between Between
as-sajdatain Okay You can do this between
as-sajdatain That's fine We have the narration
of Ibn Abbas Okay so this one is
allowed to do So here we're saying Okay
So now we're gonna go back to sujood
We're gonna go back to sujood Subhana rabbiyal
a'la At least once Okay up to
three If you're by yourself you can do
more You're just praising Allah SWT There's no
problem So now We're gonna get up And
do everything the same We said when we
get up here Are we raising our hands?
No there's no raising hands So we're gonna
get up and do everything the same And
then we're gonna come back down Now in
the first tashahhud So you can sit in
the iftiraash like this First tashahhud Okay We're
gonna say attahiyat So when we say attahiyat
Okay The first tashahhud So we said we
can Both fingers like this We can do
this one like this Or we can do
it like this Okay And we said that
we raise our finger Okay When we mention
the name of Allah So attahiyatulillahi And the
And we have some narrations that you look
at the finger You look at the finger
We said all the time you look at
where you pray Except when you do the
tashahhud Okay You're looking at At your finger
So you're saying that attahiyatulillah Okay you raise
it So about three times I think in
the first tashahhud You'll be raising your finger
Tamam And now you're done the first tashahhud
What are you gonna do?
Now we're gonna We're gonna stand Sahh And
we said here You can raise your hand
Or you don't have to raise your hand
But you have to say allahu akbar You
have to say allahu akbar This is something
that is wajib So you're gonna say allahu
akbar Okay If this is isha We're gonna
pray now another two rak'ahs Now the
second two rak'ahs Are we gonna read
anything after fatiha?
We're not gonna read anything after fatiha So
we're gonna say al-fatiha Everyone's gonna read
it silently If we're jama'a If you're
by yourself Silently as well Tamam We're gonna
pray the two rak'ahs Okay And now
we're gonna end up in the In the
tashahhud The final tashahhud So now in the
final tashahhud The tawarruk is like this Tawarruk
Is where This one goes under So You
can see it sticking out It's under And
you sit like this This is a tawarruk
And Ya'ni it's If you do it
properly It is comfortable Ya'ni it's It's
a comfortable position And I'm sure there's some
Health benefits for this one But this is
a tawarruk Do you have to do it?
No This is done in the final Okay
This is done Okay In the final Sajdah
Okay In the final jalsa ya'ni Okay
Except fajr Okay Except fajr you don't do
that You can do this one Or you
can do The normal Iftirash The one that's
not That's makrooh That we mentioned before Is
this one Even I don't know how to
do it Some Some people do it Okay
Like someone who says like this This is
what's What's makrooh Okay You shouldn't do that
It hurts I don't even know how people
do it Okay What about this position?
What do you guys think?
This one A lot of people do this
one Ah So some ulama Said it's fine
If someone This is the way they do
it But we said We want to do
al-akmal Which is sunnah If you don't
have any pain Then either do this one
Okay All the time That's fine Between the
two sajdahs You can do this one No
problem Okay And that's it Okay So now
we're in the final one We can Al
tahiyyatu lillah Okay And then we're going to
say The second tashahud Allahumma salli ala muhammad
wa ala muhammad kama sallit ala ibrahim Okay
Until the end Innaka hamidun majeed And then
we're going to say the dua Okay You
seek protection from Adhab al-qabr Yeah Wa
Fitnat al-mahya mamat wa fitnat al-maseeh
al-dajjal Right Okay And you can actually
do some dua here as well If you
want If you like You can make dua
Tamam And then once you're done Okay As
-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah As-salamu alaykum wa
rahmatullah And that's it And this is We've
done it with all the sunan And the
wajibat And the arkan InshaAllah next week When
we cover the arkan And the wajibat 14
and 8 We have 14 arkan And 8
wajibat InshaAllah we'll try to do A salah
With just that Without any sunan And what's
the bare minimum salah That you have to
do Bi-idhnillah We'll cover that Next week
Yes Ma'al intiqal we said We said
You do Allahu akbar Ma'al intiqal Not
before or after If you want to say
Go to sujood You do it ma'al
intiqal You're saying here Say Allahu akbar Okay
So this is ma'al intiqal With while
you're doing the So you don't say Allahu
akbar You shouldn't do that You should say
And you shouldn't do You shouldn't do this
Allahu akbar You shouldn't do that No Ma
'al intiqal They say You do it while
you're While in the moon Yes Ask me
in 10 years There's
some Contemporary issues One of the contemporary issues
Is the mic So some people want to
Say it in the mic And then go
down You have to be careful I think
What's awla Is that people can hear you
You're worried about people Going ahead of you
You're going to be doing The ruku' That's
not your problem That's the problem of the
Of the ma'moom The follower So when you're
saying Even like when the imam Was to
say ameen We should wait for him Wait
for him to say it as well Wait
for him to say it as well So
you shouldn't Go ahead of the imam In
all things That's the responsibility Of the ma'moom
The imam shouldn't Change his salah Because the
ma'moom Just wants to finish Any other questions?
Barakallahu feekum Next week inshallah We'll cover the
arkan And the wajibat Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
