qad aflaha man aslam qad aflaha man aslam
wa kaana rizquhu kafafan wa qannaahu allahu bima
atah an Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasallam he tells
us that qad aflaha that indeed he is
successful who is successful?
he is successful the one who has submitted
himself to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and
he is provided with sustenance that is kafi
that is enough for him and Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala has made him content with
what Allah has given him qad aflaha man
aslam wa kaana rizquhu kafafan wa qannaahu allahu
bima atah today inshallah in the few minutes
that we have we want to talk about
one of the noble adab and akhlaq and
ibadat of our deen which is al-qanaa
contentment wa maa adhraka malqanaa what will make
you understand what al-qanaa is a woman
is married to a man he treats her
well he is righteous, he does his faraid
he provides her with what she needs he
has an income he provides her shelter but
she wants a divorce why?
because she cannot live the luxury life the
high end life that she really wants that
she has always dreamt of al-qanaa a
brother goes and asks for or is looking
for marriage and he finds a righteous girl
she is educated, she is well mannered she
has good deen he is ok with her,
the way she looks and she is ok
but he refuses to go for the family
because she is not the most beautiful girl
al-qanaa a husband drops off his wife
to a wedding and he buys her a
dress according to his income and she is
going there excited, happy he comes to pick
her up and she is upset why?
because the other girls had more nice and
more expensive dresses than her al-qanaa what
is al-qanaa?
al-qanaa is ar-rida bima ataaka Allah
to be content with what Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala has given you without needing to
look at what others have to be happy
with what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has
given you fannabi sallallahu wasallam is telling us
that indeed he is successful, the one who
submits himself to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
and he has been given what is enough
for him and he is content with that
subhanallah you find a family living in a
small house they are just paycheck to paycheck
but they have what they need and they
are happy why?
because they have al-qanaa you find another
family living in a big house making $20
,000 a month but they are always looking
at what other people have always looking at
what they don't have and they live a
very miserable life al-qanaa, subhanallah fal-qanaa
is to be content with what you have
and al-qanaa is a type of richness
that money can't buy al-qanaa is a
type of richness that money can't buy walidalik
annabi sallallahu wasallam he says man asbaha minkum
mu'afan, whoever of you wakes up and
he has good health, mu'afan fi jasadihi
aaminan fi sirbihi he has a safe place
to stay indahu qoota yawmihi he has enough
food for just that day most of us
have enough food for the month has enough
food for that day faka annama heezat lahod
dunya as if the dunya was made for
him subhanallah have we thought about that?
now we see people who don't even have
that, subhanallah and then we have so much
and there's no qanaa brothers if you can
move forward as much as you can to
your left, make some space barakallahu fikum and
so we have so much subhanallah but many
of us, we are not content we are
not content when Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam he
told us that al ghina is ghina al
nafs al ghina is ghina al nafs richness
is not about what you own what kind
of car you have how big your house
is what position you have in your company
but real richness is contentment in the heart
because that's what brings happiness to people wal
lidalik Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says from
the benefits of being content of having al
qanaa Allah says whoever does righteous deed male
or female and has iman he says we
will give him we will definitely give him
a hayatan tayyiba translation a good life Ibn
Abbas radiallahu anhu he says why?
because when you have qanaa when you have
contentment you will be happy with whatever you
have guaranteed so it doesn't depend on what
you own or how much you own it
depends on what's inside here fal hayatan tayyiba
is the hayat where the person is content
with what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has
written for him al qanaa from the benefits
we said that the person will be successful
because an Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam athbat
that whoever has qanaa will be successful in
this dunya and in the akhirah in this
dunya he will be happy he will live
a happy life he will live a hayatan
tayyiba wa fil akhirah Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala says and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
will give them a reward in the akhirah
for that the one who has qanaa is
the one who is really rich as we
mentioned because an Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
he says richness is not about
the quantity or possessions that you have but
richness is the richness in one's heart al
qanaa a man came to the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam and he asked him he
said show me an action if I do
it Allah will love me and an action
an action that will make people love me
ya salam good question so the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam said to him don't go
chasing after this dunya don't have love for
this dunya and Allah will love you and
don't go wanting what other people have and
people will love you right many problems between
people is because of jealousy hasad right they
are always competing right people trying to take
what others have people will love you if
you are not trying to you know take
their stuff you know or put them down
and so subhanallah you do the first one
Allah will love you ok and you do
the second one and the people will love
you ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for
forgiveness to
conclude how can we be people who have
qana'a because it's not so easy especially
now with social media if a person is
spending just a few minutes on social media
always looking at what others have and people
on the other side are always posting what
they don't really have most of them right
you know because many people are living on
debts subhanallah they are showing that they are
living a good life good life meaning but
they are really in debt many people and
we don't realize that and when we spend
so much time looking at what others have
what we don't have right we don't realize
that qana'a goes down and down and
down and we become dissatisfied and we live
miserable lives and we think that a promotion
will make that better and we think that
a house will make that better and we
think that a vacation will make that better
but it doesn't because something is wrong in
the foundation so how can we become people
of al qana'a number one we need
to understand that Allah is ar-razaq and
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has decreed your
rizq and your rizq you will get it
no matter what if the whole universe got
together to decrease what Allah has written for
you they can't subhanallah and if everybody got
together everybody to increase to give you more
than what Allah has written for you you
will never get more this is part of
the aqeedah of the Muslim he understands that
and Allah told us وما من دابة في
الأرض إلا على الله رزقها there is no
living creature or being on this earth except
its rizq is upon Allah Allah is taking
care of everything so there is nothing for
the person to worry about
وما توعدون your rizq is promised it's in
the heavens with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
Allah is telling
you is swearing and telling you that you
will get your rizq another thing we have
to understand dear brothers and sisters that out
of Allah Allah is Al-Hakeem he is
not just Al-Razzaq he is Al-Hakeem
so out of his hikmah he gives to
some and he withholds from others ولذلك he
says وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ الْأَرْضِ he has
placed you successors on this earth وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَكُمْ
فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ and he has given some of
you more than others he has elevated some
of you in status and in possession more
مَا آتَاكُمْ it's ibtila' this is a test
it's a test for the one who doesn't
have and it's the one for the test
who has both are being tested and number
three is to look at those who have
less than us in the dunya see if
you want to live a happy life look
at those who are better than you in
your deen and then look at those who
have less than you in your worldly possessions
in your dunya and you will live a
فَوْقَكُمْ look at those who have less than
you look at those who don't even have
enough food for the day look at those
who don't have a shelter look at those
who are still looking for a job and
then you will be more thankful you will
have more qana'ah you will say alhamdulillah
right but when we do the opposite our
phones and our social media it pushes us
to do the opposite to look at those
who have more to look at those who
have more and us worrying about the things
that we don't have فَالقَنَاعَةَ is to be
content with what you have it does not
oppose you wanting more let's not have a
misunderstanding here as a Muslim you should but
you are happy with whatever if you are
a millionaire today and Allah decreed that you
lose it you will still have qana'ah
tomorrow after you lose all of it that
is a qana'ah to be content with
whatever Allah has given you and at the
same time you work hard to always improve
your situation and the last thing and this
was mentioned in the verse and I'll finish
with this Allah told us
طَيِّبًا so one of the means of having
that good life that life of qana'ah
is to do good deeds is to do
righteous deeds and stay away from sin and
when you do that that will increase your
rida and your qana'ah in your heart
ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make
us of those who are qani'een with
