Fariq Naik – Learn Taekwondo without Hitting the Face

			My question is the brother's name is

			from India, and he is an engineer by
		

			profession. The question is, does participating
		

			in taekwondo,
		

			is participating taekwondo haram or halal as it
		

			involves
		

			scoring points
		

			by kicking the opponent on the head or
		

			the face?
		

			Abloud prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said
		

			that we should not strike or hit the
		

			face of an individual.
		

			So it is haram to hit the face
		

			of our brother.
		

			So taking part in any sport
		

			or in any martial art that involves in
		

			hitting the face, this should be avoided
		

			as far as hitting the face is concerned.
		

			So for example, if a person is taking
		

			part in Taekwondo or in mixed martial arts
		

			and he's taking part in a tournament which
		

			involves hitting the face, this should not be
		

			done. He should not take part in such
		

			tournaments.
		

			But if a person wants to learn martial
		

			arts or Taekwondo or karate or any other
		

			sport or mixed martial art, there is no
		

			problem in learning it in order to make
		

			himself strong and for self defense. Ablail prophet
		

			Muhammad peace be upon him said.
		

			The strong believer is more loved to Allah
		

			subhanahu wa ta'ala than the weak believer.
		

			So for self defense, there is no problem.
		

			And when a person is learning Taekwondo or
		

			karate or any mixed martial art, it is
		

			good to learn it. But you should see
		

			to that to avoid hitting the face. This
		

			is against the teachings of Islam. I hope
