Fariq Naik – Is It Allowed to Follow Celebrities on Social Media Platforms

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh I'm from Pakistan. My

name is Mahmoud Fatima. Is it okay to follow celebrities on Instagram

or on other social media platforms just following them, not liking or

sharing their posts, but just merely following them. As far as

following celebrities is concerned, it can be divided into

three categories. The first is whose profession it involves in

things that are haram. For example, we have the Bollywood

stars, the Hollywood stars, and unfortunately many Muslims, they

are in the Bollywood industry in Mumbai, and they are famous and

they run behind and they are concerned about fame and the

compromise and the religion of Islam. Many of these celebrities,

they are involved in intermingling touching of the opposite gender,

many unfortunately even though there are Muslims for the purpose

of acting, they even do shake they will do certain actions wherein

they worship idols. So, we realize that unfortunately many Muslims

because of film they do things that are haram following such

celebrities, it is not right. And this should totally be avoided.

Because these celebrities their main thing, what they do is haram.

Many of them they are involved in music, for example, a celebrity

who's a musician or a celebrity who's a dancer, a female dancer,

this is totally haram in Islam, female dancer, but natural she's

breaking the rules of hijab. So her profession is haram. So how

can we follow such a person, the second category of celebrities are

those who are indirectly involved in Haram. For example, a person

who is a football or basketball player, they may be playing

football and football per se, it is not haram, but they are

indirectly involved in haram for example, they may be wearing

shorts or their lifestyle is such that they may be in Haram

relationships, etc, many of them they drink alcohol. So, this also

following them, it is macro or it can even be haram. So, this also

should be avoided, but if we are merely following them for their

particular sport, for example, a footballer or a basketball player

and it is only limited to this than inshallah this should not be

a problem best is but natural to white, but this it should not be a

problem. But unfortunately, many times when a person follows a

sports star or football or basketball player or any other

sports stars, this increases and a person starts reviewing this

person, a person starts considering this footballer or

this basketball player as a role model and starts following his

lifestyle, his hairstyle, the way he dresses, all of this, it should

totally be avoided, merely watching them as far as the sport

is concerned. There is no problem. But these people should not be a

role model. They are involved in things that are haram. And

unfortunately, we find many of the youth today. They look up to these

football players. For example, a person if he's a massive fan, or

if he's a Ronaldo fan. He will know the number of goals that

Ronaldo has scored. He will know for which clubs Ronaldo and Messi

have played. He will know how many times Messi has won the FIFA World

Player of the Year he will know all of these things. These details

but when you ask the same youngster regarding the lifestyle

of our beloved Prophet Muhammad may peace and blessings be upon

him. Regarding the Sierra formula Prophet Muhammad may peace and

blessings be upon him. When did the Battle of battle take place?

And other questions related to the life of the Sahaba the qualifier

Are these sports stars are role models? Or is our role model our

beloved Prophet Muhammad may peace and blessings be upon him? Allah

show, a person is asked the host that is Amitabh Bachchan, he asked

questions to the participant and the more answers that you give

correctly the

More than human. So this person he gives answers regarding worldly

aspects regarding the Hindu scriptures as well regard and he

answers all these answers correctly. And then later on

Amitabh Bachchan asked this Muslim, a question out of these

four individuals who is not a prophet of Almighty God, who's not

a prophet in Islam, Adam Musa, Mohammed, Angie, Brian, what was

the response of this Muslim? Can you believe it? This Muslim? He

said he wants to flip the question. What does it mean? It

means that he does not want to respond to this question as he is

unsure of the answer, or he does not know the answer. So the

question is flipped, but Amitabh Bachchan asked this person this

Muslim, that if you would have answered this question, what would

your answer have been? What did this Muslim say? He said, The

person who is not a prophet of God, the person who is not a

prophet in slab is Musa, can you believe it? He knows things

regarding the Hindu scriptures and he does not know regarding the

prophets of God, the Prophets in Islam. It is such a pity. A person

should be aware regarding the religion of Islam, and we Muslims

we should give priority to the religion of Islam. It is very

important that we as believers know the importance of our deen.
