My name is Muhammad Shiraz. I'm from Pakistan will turn in a
medical student, one of my friend applied tattoo on a part of his
body and now he's ashamed of it.
As we are aware that removing it is really painful, so can he
continue without removing this tattoo or should it be removed?
First, let us understand or know the ruling regarding tattoos. Our
Beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said it's mentioned in
Sahih Bukhari Hadith number 5937. Line Allahu wa sila while Mostoles
sila, while ye Shima will most Toshima Abdullah of Muhammad peace
be upon him said that Allah subhanaw taala curses has caused
the woman who lent them his her hair artificially or has her hair
lended when Allah subhanaw taala curses, the woman who applies
tattoos, or gets herself tattooed. In another Hadith our beloved
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said and this hadith is mentioned
same to 40 as well, that Abdullah Prophet Muhammad peace be upon
him, He prohibited al Washington, which refers to tattooing from
these two Hadees our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon we
understand that applying tattoos is haram and this refers to
permanent tattoos. If a person wants to apply henna, there is no
problem but applying tattoos, permanent tattoos that is
prohibited, it is haram in Islam. Now, there are many non Muslims,
they have applied a lot of tattoos, some of them have like
tattoos on their face, on their hands on their chest, on their
back. And after they embrace Islam, but not really realize what
they had done. While they were non Muslims, it is wrong. As we know
that when a person embraced Islam, all of his previous sins are
forgiven, as long as he truly believes in Allah subhanaw taala
so if a person embraced Islam, all of his previous sins are forgiven.
Now, when a person embraces Islam, and this person had applied
tattoos previously, so, now, what should you do in this situation,
and we find certain Muslims as well, they apply tattoos and later
on realize what they have done is wrong. If a person can remove
these tattoos, he should see to it that he removed these tattoos and
sometimes it is easy, some tattoo companies they charge 10 to $25
per inch of tattoo in order to remove a tattoo for tattoo
removal, certain companies charge $50 $70 $100 depends upon the kind
of tattoo and but naturally depends upon the size and the
depth and how old the tattoo is and the kind of ink that is used.
If a person has the financial capability and it is not damaging
to his health, then he should see too that he removes his these
tattoos, but many times it is difficult and certain times it
could be painful as well, but now because of technology, it can be
removed in many situations, but if it is difficult and if a person
does not have the financial capability, then inshallah Allah
subhanaw taala will forgive him, sometimes it is very expensive, it
goes up to $450 per session and the total treatment it could go up
to $2,000 $3,000 $4,000 Certain people they may not be able to
spend this amount of money, but if a person has the capability, he
should see too that he removes his tattoos and many times these
tattoos, they cannot be removed completely. Many times even though
the laser treatment is done, yet the tattoos are part of it it
remains and many times it can only be lightened and it cannot be
completely removed. So looking at the pros and cons a person should
judge it as per his capability. And if a person cannot then
inshallah Allah subhanaw taala will forgive him, but if a person
yet has tattoos, so you should see to that he should try to cover it
as much as possible. For example, if a person has tattoo on his
lower arm, he should see too that he covers his lower arm, but
generally if it is a small tattoo inshallah it should be easy to
remove this tattoo. I hope that answers your question.
