Faraz Rabbani – Weekly Q&A Why Do Women Pray behind Men

			Bismillahir Rahmanimhin there's a question, why do women
		

			pray behind men?
		

			Because the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
		

			told us
		

			how we arrange
		

			the roles in prayer. Right. The prophet Sallallahu
		

			Alaihi Wasallam said Yusuf
		

			that
		

			you know
		

			first the men stand then the children then
		

			the women.
		

			So we follow the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
		

			in that and there's a practical reason, right,
		

			that the nature of the postures of prayer
		

			etcetera
		

			lend themselves to
		

			given the the modesty and dignity of women
		

			and then
		

			and
		

			the reality
		

			of that the human being has both
		

			a
		

			an angelic
		

			spiritual
		

			dimension, but also an animal
		

			self with its desires and its lusts.
		

			It's not dignified for,
		

			you know, women to be be
		

			bowed, you know, with men
		

			standing behind them or women in prostration position.
		

			At least some men would
		

			be distracted
		

			and it's unbecoming the dignity and honor of
		

			women so they
		

			so that's why
		

			but we ultimately follow the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
		

			wasallam in such matters.
		

			Some people can appreciate the obvious dimensions of
		

			modesty entail in it. And others we just
		

			say we follow,
		

			you know, a Muslim is one who believes
		

			in Allah
		

			and follows the messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi
		

			salam. And this is what has been taught
		

			to us by our messenger.
