There's a question, where does a believer find
their joy?
There are many ways to find joy.
Right? There's many ways to find joy.
Allah tells us in the Quran
Say in the favor of Allah
and in his mercy.
In that, let them rejoice. It is far
better what than what they themselves
amass.
So
we can rejoice
in general rejoicing is of 3 levels. This
is explained by Ibn Atta'illah, a secondary in
his rasa'il
or his which
come typically
after the hikm.
So one level of rejoicing is in the
gift,
insofar as the gift makes you happy. So
the gift that Allah sends you,
the the good things of this life, the
pleasing things of this life, rejoicing in the
gift itself.
And that is from the rejoicing of the
worldly, whether believers or disbelievers.
But the believer
rejoices in the gift,
and we should learn
to see
the gifts and the mercy of Allah around
us. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala tells us.
You do not have any blessing
except that it is from Allah.
So we reflect
on Allah's blessings and his mercy.
Right?
And we by reflection
on Allah's
gifts
in life,
we should
have gratitude
and joy.
Gratitude and joy. In the gift itself, we
appreciate
the gift.
So we have joy.
And that's the general believer. The key to
finding joy is reflection
reflection
and looking at things with the eye of
recognition
that
say it is all from Allah. Appreciation,
right,
through reflection.
And thirdly,
by
committing
to respond
with with gratitude.
Respond
with gratitude.
There's a higher level of rejoicing, which is
rejoicing in the giving
of Allah.
Rejoicing
in
the giving
of Allah. And that's a higher rejoicing.
So we don't rejoice just in the gifts,
but in the fact that it is from
Allah.
It is from
Allah
So we rejoice.
That's a higher level of rejoicing.
That
say it is all from Allah.
Allah
is the creator of all things. So we
rejoice
not just in the gift
but in it being from the giving
of
Allah
and that's a higher level
of rejoicing.
K. That's a higher level
of rejoicing for us as believers
that we rejoice in
not the gift, but in the giving.
That's
a level of the conscious believer.
So whatever comes to us,
the good, but also the the bad.
The things that we don't like,
but we behold them as gifts
from
Allah
so we rejoice.
Right? You get sick.
Who made you sick?
The adab is we don't say Allah made
me sick. Right? But we know it. We
know it's from Allah so we accept it.
We accept it
and we rejoice
because there is good in it for the
believer.
Where is the good in it? In the
way we respond to it. The prophet
told us that in so many hadiths that
how strange are the affairs of the believer
for all their affairs are for their good,
and that is only
for the believer and for no one else.
If pleasing things happen,
they are grateful, they have gratitude, and that's
better for them. If displeasing things happen, they
are
steadfastly patient, and that too
is best for them, and that too
is best for them.
So we should be of that kind of
believer. We should be of that kind of
believer who has
appreciation
of both the pleasing
and the displeasing things
in life.
And that's the second level of iman,
right, when it comes to rejoicing.
1st is rejoicing in the gift,
then in the giver
through gratitude or steadfastness. And we feel happiness.
This is all a means of
seeking and finding the pleasure of Allah
Higher than that
is rejoicing
in
not the not so in the gift, the
giving, then the giver itself.
Then the in rejoicing in the giver himself
to be with Allah
to be with Allah.
And to be in a state of devotion
to Allah as though you behold him. Whatever
he sends you is secondary because I'm not
so concerned about the gift.
I'm concerned about nor the giving.
I'm concerned about the giver.
Leila
doesn't love
Majnoon because he gave her a flower.
And there's the the flower that is given,
it's not about the rose
nor the meaning that is given by the
rose.
Who do you look at when the rose
is given to you?
The rose
or
the one who gave it?
God is greater than his gifts.
God is greater than his gifts.
So that's a little bit about the rejoicing
of the believer from what the say, and
this requires cultivating our faith. That re this
requires
cultivating our faith and striving to rise in
the degrees of faith.
