Our beloved messenger
gave us some
gave us
amazing
advice
about
every
particular
of our lives.
And one of
the really comprehensive
reminders and cautions that our beloved Messenger
gave
was regarding
2 blessings
that we often
or almost invariably
neglect.
2 blessings
that we almost invariably
neglect
in a Sahih Hadith
that is related by Imam Bukhari from
Abdullah ibn Abbas
The beloved messenger
said
in this hadith
related by Ibn Abbas,
there are 2 blessings
that
most people
lose out on
health
and free time.
And one of the interesting things and one
should pay attention
to the way
the ulema present things.
So one of the great collections of hadith,
is a unique book in hadith.
So this is one of the very rare
books where the student wrote a book and
his teacher
wrote a commentary
on the student's book. And this book was
called Mishkat Al Masabi. And this is a
one of the
comprehensive
mid sized
works in hadith.
So this book used has been taught from
the time of the author to this time
and has been taught and
commented
across the Muslim lands.
In the book of the things that soften
the heart,
the raka'ikh,
the book of spiritual reminders,
Imam Tabrizi begins with this hadith.
So often and that's not just accidental. Well,
he didn't find any other hadith to begin
it with. Right. But that
that the beginning
of one's spiritual change
towards having a heart that is sound,
to having
a heart that is Salim,
is to avail oneself of 2
foundational
blessings of Allah
which are health and well-being.
And the prophet
cautioned
2 blessings
that
most people lose out on.
Is
to lose out in trade
because
your life is a trade.
Your life is a series of choices
and these
are you are trading
on the basis
of your health
and your time.
As if your capital
is
your health
and your free time
And either you profit with this in this
life
or you lose out.
And the the
And the worst of loss is when you
get bankrupt such that you can no longer
arrive at profit.
So we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala that
He not make us lose out.
The understanding of health
in the guidance of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam
is vast.
And
its beginning
is
the health of the heart with Allah Subhana
Wa Ta'la, which is why Imam Tabrizi mentions
it,
this hadith in the context of the things
that soften
and heal the heart.
So there's the wellness of the heart
The best of people are those whose lives
are long and whose actions are good.
And free time.
And Nahum
walked because of the delusions that affect people
is that they imagine that they don't have
time.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has granted us
168 hours in the week.
Okay.
168
hours.
So we have to look how we spend
these 168
hours that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has blessed
us with and to consider have we directed
some of this time
towards what truly benefits
us?
Right. Have we directed
at least some of the time
towards what truly benefits us? Right. And that's
something to reflect upon.
But it's an amazing opportunity because while you're
alive,
while you're alive, you have the opportunity
of
attaining profit.
One of the things
that the righteous
saw as a tremendous opportunity
of making the most of one's free time
was looking at how one can be of
benefit
to others.
Right. According to the guidance of the messenger
whose concern was his ummah.
Is to make
extensive dua
for
the community of the prophet
And the examples of that and the encouragements
to that in the Quran and the sunnah
are numerous beyond count.
The fatiha itself,
So that we encompass all Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala's servants.
And the early Musa
Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And the early Muslims
had great emphasis and concern and encouragement
to make a lot of dua for the
Ummah of the beloved Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
It's related in one narration
that Maruf Al Kerki said that whoever says,
oh Allah have mercy on the Ummah of
Muhammad.
Every day Allah will write them amongst his
most elect
of
Awliya
the Abdul.
Right.
And this is sort of the dispensation
that daily make dua for all the Ummah.
And this is one of the way to
become of the encompassing
Awliya.
Though
the more famous wording of this narration from
Maroof Al Kerhi is and this is the
wording of Hilyat Al Awliya,
Whoever says each day 10 times.
They would be written amongst
the elect saints of Allah
Right?
Because this
Muslim because the believer needs this, needs to
have great concern for the well-being of others.
O Allah,
rectify the state
of the Ummah of your Prophet Muhammad. O
Allah
grant
facilitation
and openings for the Ummah of your prophet
Muhammad. Oh Allah have mercy on the Ummah
of your prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
10 times a day. Right. And Maruf Al
Kerhi and this dua we we have a
translation of it on on the seekers hub
website if you look for Maruf if you
write
on the seekers hub site you'll find the
link and inshallah we'll we'll post it as
well.
This is something, this one way of making
extensive dua because the Quran Sunnah encourage us
to make a lot of dua for others.
How do we make that a reality?
This is one practical way of doing
so.
Right, this is one of the keys but
this is also reflective of the concern that
the believer has, right. Because if you're
making dua for something for others because that's
what you want for them.
So a believer should be thinking in the
actively, what can I do that will be
a means of making things better
for the Prophetic community?
What can I do that will grant
openings?
Right, for the ummah of the prophet Muhammad
And
Faraj
is
right, an opening is from
constraint, from hardship. Now what can I be
doing in life that would make things better
for people? Islah.
What will give tafrij?
Right? That will
give openings to those in distress? Allahummar ham,
umat and Muhammad. Or what can I do
that'll be a means of mercy, of good,
of comfort, of care?
For the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad
The
community of the Prophet
as we know is a community of those
who answered his call
and also
the community
that he was that
are the that are addressed by his call.
And the community
of those who have answered his call and
the community addressed
by his call, which is all creation.
Right.
All creation. Even
inanimate objects are from the Ummah of the
prophet
Why?
Because
the Prophet was sent to them as well
as mercy.
He was sent to them as well.
Their mercy to all creation which is why
they say one of the signs of the
Abdul,
one of the signs of the Abdul of
the elect servants of Allah is,
you know, that there are those who are
ever bowing and prostrate
of those who are ever respectful
of the elderly,
and the young,
and of those who are
caring
of Allah
of of animals.
Right? Of animals. Because if you can be
caring of animals,
then the expectation is you'll be caring
for human beings a fortiori. May Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala make us of those who have
these qualities, of who those who are always
praying for the ummah of the beloved messenger
for all
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's creation.
And Allah Ma'asleh, Ummat Sayidina Muhammad Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam.
And if you can recite this 10 times,
Maruf Al Kerhi whose biography you can find
in the Risay al Kushari and elsewhere was
amazing. Imam al Zahabi
in his amazing book, Seer Alem al Nubala,
in in his biography of the notables
of Islamic history right up till this time
in 9th century.
Imam al Zahabi
was a great great
scholar based on Muhadith
and
he's sort of right of center when it
comes to being conservative
on many things.
When he talks about Maruf Al Kerhi, he
says,
Right. He says, His grave in Baghdad
is a proven elixir.
It's a proven cure. If you have difficulty
and hardship, go make dua there and it's
mujarab. It is tried, tested, and true that
dua is answered there. Right? And this imam
Zahabi is
you know,
is,
you know,
very,
you know, very conservative in these matters.
Just to remind ourselves, you know,
Let's resolve to make frequent dua for the
ummah, but not out of.
The basis of dua
is that it arise out of certitude,
not
out
of feeling unease.
Okay.
The Prophet said, call upon Allah
while certain
of his response. Right. That is the state.
The Halal mummin to be certain.
Right.
We have no worry about the Ummah of
the Messenger
in our hearts. This is the Ummah of
his beloved.
And why would Allah honor the Messenger as
he honored them
and ruin his Ummah? That's not the case.
Right. The prophet said,
This is the Ummah that is the object
of divine mercy.
Right. The prophet
used to pray at night and weep
for the Ummah of the prophet
and
so much so that finally Allah sent Jibreel
and told the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
that we will truly
make you content
regarding your Ummah.
And this is one of the meanings of
Allah's words in the Quran, walasofa
yawatika rabbuka fatardah,
and then your Lord will surely grant you
till you're content.
Right. And the Prophet
said, Shafa'atili
ahlil kabairimin Umati. My intercession
is even for those who have committed enormities
in my Ummah.
May Allah
make us of those who have complete certainty.
