The prophet
mentioned
that
Allah made three things
beloved to him in this life,
and that
the joy
of his heart
He
said that
the joy
of my eyes,
meaning
my full
joy,
my complete joy,
has been made in the prayer.
Right?
And he did not say that
prayer is my joy.
Right? But that
the joy my complete joy has been placed
within
the prayer.
And we witnessed the amazing worship of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
which
when Sayna Ali bin Nabi Talib, Karamallahu Aja,
was asked
to describe the day worship of the prophet
SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam, he said none of you
can
None of you can do that.
Because pointing as Ulamas say that the reality
of the prayer of the prophet SallAllahu Alaihi
Wasallam was not
simply what he did.
Though what he did was so beautiful. I
say the Aisha
was asked to describe the night worship of
the prophet
and she she described that he would pray
2 rakas
and then she mentioned
he would lengthen his recitation. And don't ask
me how beautiful his recitation was.
And then he described his
and don't describe don't ask me to describe
how beautiful his was.
Right? That's just a form
that is so
amazingly beautiful
of the outward worship of the prophet
But
the
inward
beauty of
the prophet
worship,
right, which is beyond our imagination.
But what is it?
It's to be present
with Allah
To be present
with Allah
That he is with
the one he loves
in the highest
of states
of closeness
and intimacy,
of devotion.
Whereas the Prophet was
conscious of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala as we
know
even while asleep.
Even while asleep. It's from the unique qualities
of the Prophet
that his wudu
as we read in the Sahih did not
break from going to sleep lying down.
Even though he's
taught us that wudu breaks when you go
to sleep lying down.
But he got up one day after
being asleep
and was headed to pray. And he was
asked You Rasulullah, but
they asked him that
You taught us that You have to make
Puru. He said,
I am not as You are.
Right?
My
eyes may sleep,
yet my heart does not sleep.
Why? This is that relationship
with Allah
Now the beautiful
form of the sunnah,
which is the the most beautiful possible way
you can do anything,
is to strive to make it accord
to the sunnah of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam. You want to eat beautifully,
you want to drink beautifully, you want to
talk beautifully,
you want to walk beautifully,
you want to deal beautifully
with
your husband, your wife,
your parents, your children, your friend, your neighbor
at work.
Strive
to mirror something
of the prophetic beauty.
But there's an outward element to it but
it's inward reality. What is it? It's presence
of heart with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Right?
To cultivate
that
in the sunnah because you cannot find the
presence of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in other than the
sunnah. As one of the poets said addressing
the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
You are truly the door to Allah.
So anyone
who tries to come to Allah but other
than your door won't enter,
won't be admitted.
But this essence of the sunnah, right, that
we
revive our concern to uphold
those sunnas of
our prayer,
of night worship.
But why?
Because we want
the joy of presence with Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
Because that is the joy of the Prophet
SAW.
The joy of my eyes has been placed
within the prayer.
And the examples of that from the life
of the Prophet
are so many. He was a victor for
Allah.
That's how he entered Mecca.
Not
as someone who who won,
but as the servant of Allah bowed
against
the back of his camel, the neck of
his camel in prostration with his forehead almost
touching
the neck of the camel.
And throughout,
this
is the one that we try to
reflect something of his beauty. May Allah
grant us
to experience
that
beauty,
and that we give all that we have
to attain that.
Because
as one of the poets put it,
okay.
He said,
Upon their own self let cry, one who
has wasted
their life
and who does not have
of this meaning
of
knowing Allah,
of the joy
of being present with Allah, who doesn't have
of this
some share or some portion.
So may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala realize us
in that and grant us the renewed resolve
to see
that every sunnah of the Prophet
is a means
of presence
with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Wa Sallallahu Wa
Ta'ala Sayyidina wa Muhammad.
