Harith al Muhasibi's treatise for seekers of guidance,
Risada al Musar Shideen.
And there are some
really beautiful
lessons
from
the niche
of niches,
the niche of prophethood,
from the wisdom of our beloved Messenger Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam.
Imam Al Muhasibi
says,
This is a guarantee
in the Quran
and in the teachings of our Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam.
That know well
that whoever makes their concern
the hereafter,
Allah Most High,
will be their sufficiency
with respect
to their worldly
concerns.
As is mentioned in the hadith that is
related.
And the reason he puts it in this
way because there are
some stronger Hadith that put this more briefly
but this wording which is not quite so
strong but it details it out more fully.
Right? From our beloved Messenger salallahu
alayhi
wa
sallam.
Relieve yourself
of worldly concerns
as much as you can.
So relieve yourselves
to the extent
that you can
from worldly concern because
whoever makes
worldly matters
the greatest of their concern,
Allah will
scatter
for them
their worldly
aspirations.
And will place
poverty
before their eyes. Place the fear of poverty
before their eyes.
These are the words of our prophet
And whoever makes
the hereafter
the closeness
to Allah,
the good pleasure of Allah, the love of
Allah,
the eternal
contentment
and joy
found in Paradise,
The greatest of their concerns,
Jama' Allahu Allahu Amra. Allah will gather for
them their affairs.
And will place their wealth
in their heart,
which is where it belongs.
So if you make
the
worldly matters the greatest of your concerns,
you will never find satisfaction
because what you're seeking for
will
remain scattered.
You will remain unsatisfied.
You will have the fear of poverty
in front of you at all times.
Whereas if you make your con if you
make the hereafter,
if you make Allah and the Hereafter
your greatest concern,
then Allah will gather for you your affairs.
Why? Even at a practical level because then
you will have the right priorities.
Be avid for all that will benefit you.
From the excellence of a person in Islam
is to leave those things that are not
of concern to them, those things that don't
benefit them in this life and the next.
The Prophet taught us priorities,
you don't need
those new shoes, you want those new shoes.
You don't have to have
the new laptop,
You want
the new laptop.
So if
you make your priorities,
the priorities that Allah and His Messenger have
given us, then you will find contentment.
So then
how do you make Allah the greatest of
your concerns? The prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam explains.
And no servant turns
with their heart, meaning
completely
to Allah
mighty and majestic.
Except that Allah will make the hearts
of the believers
turn to them
with mercy and love.
Right? With
And of course the verse, you know, Ayatul
Shadi and many of you have been attending
many a Shadi,
and many a Shady Shadi would seem, right?
Many a wedding,
right? When Allah says,
and he has placed between you love and
mercy.
This is not
between the 2 spouses.
Right?
If you read the verse and we won't
go into it,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says from the beginning,
from Allah's science is created for you,
the addressed are all humanity.
From yourselves, spouses.
And Allah Subhanahu wa
Ta'ala you may find serenity there and etcetera.
And He has placed between you,
it's not between the 2 spouses, love and
mercy, that is true with respect to the
2 spouses. But between all creation,
what is
the thing that is between all creation
are two
potential
meanings
of good that Allah has placed between all
creation,
through all humanity.
Wajaalabeinakum
He has created for you,
It goes back to the same
reality which is
all humanity.
He's placed between you,
potentially
caring love
and deep mercy.
But it is our loss of priority when
we no longer look at creation with the
eye
of concern for Allah,
that we squander the possibility
of love,
the possibility of mercy, the possibility of care,
concern and consideration.
So we squander the potential good that Allah
has placed between us and everything in his
creation.
Right? But if you prioritize Allah,
our beloved Messenger
says, because then you will look at every
interaction whether it be with other people, whether
you look at
even what you buy and you see this
thing has all this packaging on it.
Would buying something like that be pleasing to
Allah? Then you wouldn't.
You've created a relationship of good between you
and unknown
things to you around creation.
Because they are realities of the unseen.
When you pray in the countryside
and you call the Adhan, we know from
the Prophet
that even the stones
and the plants pray for you.
So
if you,
in anything, if you think about what
you know, you prioritize what
action will be pleasing to Allah,
the realities of love and mercy will arise
all around you, which is why people
connected with prophetic guidance, our beloved messenger salallahu
alaihi wa sallam mentions in the Sahih hadith,
that the person who teaches people good,
the birds in the sky, and the fish
in the ocean,
seek forgiveness
for the one who teaches people good.
Why? Because such a person is a source
of good, of love and good, for all
existed things.
Right? The song that they sang, these are
lessons in love, but lessons in goodness.
What was the the chorus?
Can you say it in the mic?
O Allah send your blessings upon the prophet
who came to us with the message. Taha
Muhammadu Ali.
Taha
Muhammad and his folk.
The one the gazelle talked to, and this
is a real incident in the life of
the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam, he had so
much love and concern
for every living thing
that he was
on an expedition with his companions,
and a gazelle walked up to the Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
and spoke to the Prophet,
knowing that he would care.
Now
right? We are not like him, but
the prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam's concern was at
a level that he could understand the gazelle,
and he spoke to it.
And he understood from the gazelle that it
had been captured
and separated from its children.
And all it wanted was to go back
to take care of its infants
until they reached an age where they could
take care of themselves.
So our beloved Prophet
while busy, you could say
I'm busy right now,
he went
and interceded on behalf of the gazelle.
To the man who captured, it's his right
to capture it, he needs to eat, he
needs to do his things.
Let the gazelle go until it takes care
of the children, and he became a guarantor,
he became a kafil.
He guaranteed
that if the gazelle doesn't come back, come
to me
and I will compensate
you. Sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu
alaihi wa sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu alaihi wa
sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu alaihi
wa sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu alaihi wa sallallahu
alaihi wa s
the love of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
for animals and animals his love for the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Even inanimate objects yearned for him, why?
Because he was a source of tremendous good
for everything.
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. So
when you make your concern the good pleasure
of Allah, then the question in every
interaction is
what choice
will
be beloved to Allah? The food will pray
for you when you don't waste it, because
the food has a purpose,
right? The food has a purpose.
So if you go
to one of these joints that give you
an amount of rice that's impossible to eat,
and you just take half the portion,
why? Out of concern that this will be
more pleasing to Allah, so this way I
won't throw it away, or I won't defer
throwing it away by putting in the fridge
and then throwing it away.
Then this is beloved to Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, but also
that rice and all those resources that don't
get wasted,
All of them will be witnesses for you.
Right? So may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala grant
us this prioritization of of concern.
And he warns us that part of our
concern for good, and we'll close with this,
is that it is against the Sunnah to
to argue about religion.
So we'll just mention it. He says, wahdari
akhih al miraafil Quran.
Beware,
my dear friend, my dear brother, of disputing
with respect to the Quran.
And arguments about religion.
The religion are truths that the prophet came
with. It's not up
for just arguing,
especially when it's just for the sake of?
Just
just having a conversation. It removes respect for
religion. People start talking about moon fighting, it's
much better to talk about
whether when Ronaldo will score a goal or
not. Right?
Because at least it's not a harmful discussion.
Right?
Although those who paid the transfer fees may
be wondering,
and dispute in religion.
Or to try to
define the reality of God.
And be of those whom Allah said regarding
That when the ignorant
address them, they say peace.
And the ignorant can refer to or when
the foolish, and the foolish are those who
speak
without purpose or without principle.
Those who speak without purpose or principle, they
say peace, meaning they don't enter into disputation
with them.
If they pass by folly, they pass by
nobly.
May Allah grant us
insight into
the beautiful teachings of our beloved messenger
may he beautify
our lives,
and our conduct, and our character,
and our households, and our families, and our
communities, and all creation with that beauty.
