Faraz Rabbani – The Rawha #109 Love Unites Consequence of Love in the Hereafter Night Worship
AI: Summary ©
The importance of strong connections with loved ones and experiencing the physical and spiritual connections is emphasized in public. The physical world is related to communication between the creator and creator, and expressing love for one particular aspect of the physical world is crucial. The importance of seeking forgiveness and following the path of night worship is emphasized, along with avoiding sinful behavior at night and donations as a means to achieve dreams.

You're listening to the Roha, daily guidance for
seekers with Sheikh Rasra Benny.
In our daily
in which we look
at some of the guidance of the prophet
and some counsel for seekers of knowledge,
we
are continuing in our look at 40 hadiths
on
love for Allah.
Loving
Allah himself
and loving
all that is beloved to Allah
for Allah's sake.
And we have reached hadith number
29.
Hadith number 29.
The messenger of Allah
said, whoever loves the people, Allah will resurrect
them
in their presence.
And this is a confirmation of
what has come in the other hadiths
that
whoever
you need
and a person will be
with those they love. And Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala tells us that both the people of
Jannah and the people of Jahannam
are
resurrected
and
taken
to heaven and taken to * in
Zumarah,
right, in
groups
gathered together.
Right? So b in
the zumrah,
right, in
the gathering of the righteous.
And the sign
of loving a people
is that one gathers with them,
Right? Regularly.
Right? They say it is not sufficient love
that say, well, you know, I love
whatever I love the so I attend an
annual conference.
So what do you do the rest of
the year?
I'm busy.
Right? But I can I can follow the
Leafs without missing a single playoff game,
but one of the comes to town, I
can't go there?
Right?
So that you know, so one has to
you know, love requires
taking oneself to account.
A beautiful example of that is the second
chapter of
the of.
You want to know how intense love should
be?
Look at the first chapter of the.
Right?
How
how intense
the emotion of love should be.
But then if you do love, you must
ask yourself.
As one of the poet says,
On what basis do I say
that I love the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam. Right? It must have its expression.
And from that is gathering regularly
with
the people,
the kinds of people one loves.
Right? And they're found
in place
in places of worship,
in places of learning, in places of remembrance,
in places of service.
Right?
The messenger of Allah
said, whoever loves another for the sake of
Allah and says to them,
I love you
for
Allah.
They will enter paradise together,
and the one who loves, meaning who expressed
their love,
will be higher in station
than the, than the other.
Right? And they will be and they'll be
together because
they loved for the sake of Allah.
Right? And how that works in paradise, we
that you can be with people,
but yet at the same
time, some people can be higher than you,
yet you are with them.
Right? The dimensionality
of paradise,
right, is not
flat.
Right? Like, we live on the flat earth,
paradise is greater
than this world in every way including in
its dimensionality.
That's one of the ways the Ullama explained
how can
you be with someone yet they'd be higher
than you.
Because the way dimensions work in paradise is
distinct
from
this world.
It's related by Ma'am Al Bazar with a
sound chain of transmission.
Say, the messenger of Allah
said,
no two people love one another for the
sake of Allah except
that the one of them who is more
beloved to Allah is the one who loves
the other more intensely.
And this is that
repeated theme.
That's not just about saying you love someone
for the sake of Allah, but that you
genuinely feel it
intensely.
Right? That the degree to which you have
the capacity
to love others for the sake of Allah
intensely,
to that extent will Allah
love you.
And this this is related by
and it's a it's chain of transmission is
relates to the messenger of Allah
said that truly
in paradise,
there are rooms
whose
outside can be seen from their inside and
whose inside can be seen from the from
their outside.
That they're translucent
somehow.
Right?
Allah has prepared
these
for those who love one another
for him
and those who spend on one another for
him.
There are these marvelous
homes,
right,
that Allah has prepared
for those who love each other for his
sake and who spend on each other for
his sake.
And of course, we know that Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala tells us
You will not attain righteousness
until you spend
of what you love.
So sign of loving another
is that you that
you spend on them
of the things you would have loved for
yourself.
So you got something, you liked it, but
you give it to someone else
out of, you know, out of an ex
expression
to Allah
of loving them for the sake of Allah.
Hadith number 33.
The messenger of Allah said,
those who love one another for the sake
of Allah will be
on
chairs
of Yakut. What is Yakut?
Yeah. On emerald
chairs
around the throne. Right?
And that is
the pinnacle of creation. Right? They'll be in
the highest of places.
So in this hadith
related by Ma'am Al Beihaki and his work
Shaul Iman,
the messenger of Allah
said, should I not
direct you towards
the
key to this matter
by which you will attain
both the good of this life and the
good of the next.
Should I not guide you to what all
of this matter, meaning all of religion
what is the key to all of this
religion? The key by which you will
attain both the good of this life and
the good of the next.
Hold fast to the gatherings of the people
of remembrance.
Hold fast to them. Don't don't miss them.
The second council is, and when you're alone,
move your tongue
as much as you're able in remembrance of
Allah.
3rd,
and love for Allah and hate for Allah.
And then he said,
have you ever felt
the meaning that experienced
the reality that when a man when a
person
goes out from their house
to visit
Another,
to visit their literally their brother.
They are accompanied.
Is
who
is those who are with you, which is
why you have shia,
which is the party of someone.
Right?
And that's why you have
you accompany
the funeral.
They are accompanied by 70,000
angels. All of them
praying for them
and saying,
oh lord, they
they
can they made this connection for for your
sake.
They maintain this connection for your sake. So
connect them
to you.
So he
so the prophet
said,
and
So
if you can
engage
your body in this, then do so
in visiting people for the sake of Allah.
And this is of the neglected sunnahs in
our times.
To go out of one's way to visit
people
for the
sake
of Allah
We'll look at one more hadith.
So the messenger of Allah said
that truly in paradise,
there are
pillars
of
Rubies. Rubies of Yakut.
Upon them are rooms of zabarjed,
which is another precious
stone
that that which have open
doors
that
and these rooms radiated
as
the the radiant stars
radiate.
So Sahaba asked, oh messenger of Allah, who
dwells in them?
The messenger of Allah
said, those who love one another for Allah
and those who sit with one another for
Allah and those who meet with one another
for Allah.
So these are the Hadith
that we
that we looked at
today and
tomorrow
we'll complete the remaining hadith on
the 40 hadith on
loving
for the sake of Allah
But one of the central lessons that we'd
like to emphasize is that love
for love to be true, it must be
expressed.
And by expressing love,
one nurtures
love.
Right? So the
so love,
right,
is for it to be true, it must
be expressed.
But it is by expressing love that one
nurtures
and
perfects love.
And loving for the sake of Allah
is
a key means to
the love of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. To
the extent that you love creation for the
sake of Allah,
it is to that extent that Allah will
love you. Why?
Because
what is creation but
the creating of Allah.
Right? So this is from
you're loving for Allah
is
from Right? It's from beholding
the oneness
of Allah's actions.
Right?
This is the creating
of Allah.
These are
the servants
of Allah.
These
are
and as these are the dependence
of Allah.
Creation are the dependence of Allah.
And the most beloved of them to Allah
are those best of them to his dependence.
So we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
realize us in these meanings.
We also look
in each of the at
something of
the
council of Imam Al Ghazali
to
one of his
dear students called Aiyu Alwaled,
and these are councils on the importance of
acting on one's knowledge. And that is the,
you know, the the sunnah of the prophet
what is it? It is a it is
a path that is followed.
Knowledge
tells you about the path of the prophet
But the the only purpose of that path
is that it be
followed.
So we reached
Imam Al Ghazali's
council on the
importance of night worship.
So Imam Al Ghazali says,
my dear child,
Allah's words
and from the
night perform
night
vigil worship
perform night vigil
devotion
in it.
This is a command
which is why
some of the early Muslims held that it
was obligatory.
But there are many texts that would
indicate that it's not an obligation.
But the least that it can be and
some held that it was obligatory for the
prophet
to perform night worship.
By the very least,
this is
a test
of one being true in striving to follow
the sunnah of the prophet
whether one performs night worship. Right?
And a group of the people who are
with you.
Right? So this is something that we should
we must all
strive
to uphold, to spend at least something of
the night
in worship
of Allah
Whether in prayer
or in
or in Dua
or
with that
with that worship,
seeking of knowledge
in in the depths of the night is
also
from
night worship because seeking of knowledge with sincere
intention
would
and with the commitment to act accordingly
is
from worship.
But
one should not just get up and engage
in
seeking knowledge alone. 1 should one needs to
have
a modicum
of
devotion
to purify one's heart,
and to protect one from the blameworthy qualities
that the the acquiring of knowledge
can have.
So this is a command.
And in
the depths of the night,
they seek forgiveness.
This is gratitude.
It's a description
of the righteous servants of Allah
Right?
And in the depths of the night,
they
seek forgiveness.
This is gratitude. How is it gratitude?
It is gratitude because
it is only the grateful
who truly seek forgiveness.
For someone who is truly grateful to Allah,
who really sees
everything that Allah has blessed them with,
they recognize
that Allah deserves
gratitude
and that whatever
gratitude you express,
Allah deserves better
so they so you seek forgiveness
for your remissness in gratitude
and seek
through the seeking of forgiveness for Allah to
complete for you
what gratitude entails.
But this is a call, be of those
who seek forgiveness
in that time.
And those who seek forgiveness
in the depths of the night, this is
mentioned.
Meaning that Allah
mentions
those servants
with honor.
Right?
There are
it is related,
although there's weakness in this hadith.
There are 3 voices that are beloved to
Allah most high.
The
the the the the voice of the rooster.
And the voice of the one who recites
the Quran.
And the voice of those who seek forgiveness
in the depths of the night.
The rooster because it wakes people up
for dawn.
And, you know, the
and, you know, the one who recites the
Quran and the one seeking forgiveness in the
depths of the night, it's obvious.
Sufyan al Thawri is one of the great
early imams of Islam,
who's one of the Mujtihid imams and is
a great imam of Hadith.
He said, truly Allah most high
has created
a wind,
a breeze
that blows
due at the time of the sahar,
the depths of the night
that carries
with it
the acts of remembrance
and the acts of seeking forgiveness
to
the over to the overpowering
king,
meaning straight
to the divine presence.
Right?
And
So Sofia Nathode also said,
at the beginning of the night, a caller
calls out
from
below the divine throne.
Truly,
let the devotees
stand up. So they stand and worship
what Allah facilitates for them.
The then a caller calls out in the
middle of the night,
truly
let's stand those who are
penitent.
The
is the penitent.
So they stand and pray
to into the depths of the night,
And then they rest before fajr.
Then when it when when
when the Sahar time comes, the last part
of the night,
a caller calls out,
truly
let
those seeking forgiveness
stand up.
So they stand and they seek forgiveness.
Then when Fajr enters,
this caller calls out, truly let the heedless
get up.
So they stand
from their beds as if dead
resurrected from their graves.
Of course, this is a caller
calling to
closeness to Allah
Right?
So
those who don't stand the night, they're heedless
not in an absolute sense
because they're still a believer,
they still worship Allah, but they're heedless
of the opportunity of seeking closeness.
So it's a relative
warning.
And they stand as if dead
dead to this opportunity
of night worship.
They missed out.
So Imam Al Ghazali here is the point
is
is clear.
Right? Do not yet for your for you
to have a living heart, you must
engage in worship
at night.
And the key to that is the sunnah
of the prophet
of avoiding
unnecessary
worldly activity at night.
The messenger of Allah
forbid Samar, staying up
at night. And the olamah explained, unless that
is in clear benefit.
Religious or worldly?
But that clear benefit must be done in
a way that does not prevent one
at the level of obligation
from
the Fajr prayer
and the level of recommendation
from
the sunnah is related to
night worship
and the sunnah is related to Fajr worship.
Right?
And there's an element of caution in that
prohibition against staying up unless you know, without
clear benefit at night. That night is a
time
Allah has created the human soul
with a yearning for
fulfillment.
That's just how the human being was created
by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. And night is
a time when your worldly needs are taken
care of. Most you finished your work,
now you seek
the fulfillment
of your desires.
But the spiritual desire of the human being
is fulfilled
by turning to Allah
and by turning
towards the means to Allah
knowledge, remembrance, etcetera.
Or even
worldly benefit, one visits family, etcetera.
That's and that's good because some especially in
winter months for example,
in more northerly countries,
the only opportunity you might get during the
week to visit somebody
maybe at nighttime.
However, as long as it's done in a
manner that does not lead to,
it's obligatory not to do so in a
manner that leads that endangers
your obligation,
just Fajr.
And the recommendation is not in a manner
that endangers
the related sunnahs.
Sunnahs
around Fajr and the sunnahs of night worship.
So
and if one is not careful about that
night time, it is very easy to incline
towards
sinful desires at night.
It's easier.
1, spiritually,
because of this
inclination
for fulfillment that Allah has created the human
being with.
And also practically,
there's less people around.
Yeah. Said were it not for society,
most men would be animals
as one author put it.
Weren't if people weren't around, people would commit
a lot more sin.
It's just much harder to commit sin when
there's so many people around.
We ask Allah
for that we be of those who heed
this council and be of the people who
establish
night worship.
