our daily in which you look at some
of the Hadith of our beloved messenger.
And we also share some councils related to
seeking knowledge.
This is this daily is also podcast from
seekershub.org/podcast.
And we've been covering a selection
of 40 sets of 40 hadiths of the
prophet
by the great,
20th century scholar,
Sheikh Yousaf Al Nabihani
And we were we are at the final
part
of the 5th collection of these 40 hadith,
which is 40 hadith on the virtues of
remembering Allah most high.
So what we're going to do
to open tonight's session is to read the
final few hadiths from that because it's a,
because it's auspicious to cover
a text,
and it is and
the the hadith that we're covering
suit what we're covering in,
you know, of when, you know, what what
we do Friday nights of gathering to remember
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So at hadith number
38.
And is or
so
say Namr ibn Ambas
relates that he heard the messenger of Allah
say
that
referring to
the hereafter,
to the right of the all merciful
and both
hands of the divine are right.
Right? That's not referring
to hands.
This these are hands that are not
limbs.
Right?
Will be
people
to the right of the all merciful and
both
the divine hands are right, meaning that this
is not referring to a a limb in
any way whatsoever,
will be people.
And rijal
is not
a matter of gender.
Right? It's not men.
Right? When rijal is used to is those
who are perfected in their qualities.
Right? It's used in the sense of though
the accomplished ones. Right? Worthy
individuals.
They're not prophets
nor martyrs.
The
the the radiance
of their faces
would
would dazzle
any who would look towards them. The radiance
of their faces
would dazzle any who would look
towards them. And, of course, the term used
for radiance is bayab.
Right? But bayab
does not refer to whiteness
as
racial color.
Right? And this is hadith is an evident
of that. It's not that they're so white
that they're beautiful. Right? But refers to radiance.
Right?
Right?
Again, such as darkness there is not like
we don't have a continuum of
color white is good, color black is bad.
Let's talk about radiance
and darkness.
Right? In a spiritual
sense above all.
Right?
So to to the these accomplished ones who
are neither prophets nor martyrs,
the radiance of their faces would dazzle
any who looks towards them.
The prophets and martyrs themselves
will be envious of them
with respect
to
their station and closeness
to Allah mighty and majestic. So
it was asked, who are they or
who are they, oh messenger of Allah? And
the messenger
said,
they are
a
mixed
group of people
from different
distant tribes.
K?
Meaning they're different people. They gathered
from different tribes. So what gathered them was
not
family
or tribe
nor they gathered because of status.
They're just a mixture of people of all
kinds statuses and backgrounds from many different tribes.
They gather
to remember Allah most high.
Right? They gather to remember Allah.
And then some people wonder why did people
author all these, you know, all kinds of
different works
of praise of Allah and praise of the
prophet? Isn't the Quran and the Sunnah just
enough?
But the Quran and Sunnah point
to
finding ways of expressing
the praise of Allah and his messenger. And
this is one of many hadith like that.
They the prophet,
peace and blessings be upon him, himself said,
They
choose
the best of speech
to
remember Allah with.
They choose
the best of speech
to remember Allah with just as the one
who eats dates
tries to select
the the best dates to eat.
Right?
And this is part of it that if
you consider,
you know, the the beauty of of the
divine,
the perfection of the divine, you want to
express that
in some way.
Right? And this is praiseworthy.
And likewise, with respect to the praise of
the prophet
And this hadith is related by imam at
Tabarani and the of the scholars of hadith
said, it's it's a
sound hadith.
Hadith number 39.
And
and others related it too.
The messenger of
Allah said
that
no people
gather
in any gathering in which they don't remember
Allah
in it and don't send
blessings upon
his prophet
in it, except that it will be a
source of regret
for them.
Then
if Allah wills, He will punish them.
And if He wills, He will forgive them.
Right?
Because what what underlies
remembering Allah?
Gratitude.
I what underlies remembering Allah is gratitude.
And it is only remembrance
that
results in the consciousness
that enables you to be actively grateful.
And all harms
arise
from failing to remember Allah, from failing to
be grateful, from failing to be conscious.
Right? So the prophet
said, no people gather in any gathering in
which they don't remember Allah and don't send
blessings upon
their prophet
because every good you have came to you
through the messenger of Allah
Every significant good, which is the good that
last beyond this life.
And if he wills, if Allah wills, he'll
forgive them, and if he wills, he'll punish
them. Right? So and this again, a sound
hadith. Meaning
that
the best of gatherings you could willfully choose
are the gatherings in which Allah and his
messenger is remembered.
Right? And we took in in in this
collection of 40 hadith, we took numerous hadith
on the tremendous merits
of gathering to remember Allah for his sake.
But also that anytime you gather with people,
infuse that gathering with something of remembering Allah
and something of remembering the prophet
Firstly, personally.
Right?
That whether it's a family gathering or a
social gathering or at work or a meeting
or wherever,
just make it a personal commitment, never be
in a gathering. We don't engage in some
remembrance of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Right? That's why in some cultures they refer
to the as the as
the reminder.
Right?
Because you have it in your hand, what
are you gonna do with it?
Right?
So
remember Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. But also,
choose the gatherings that are more likely to
facilitate for you to remember Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala. And where possible, where appropriate,
infuse your regular gatherings with something
of remembering Allah and his messenger's
lives. Family gatherings,
gatherings of with relatives,
friends, etcetera. Not all the gathering and all
the time,
but a little bit. Right? A little bit.
And sometimes we have to be ambassadors
for these meanings.
So for example, and from the remembrance of
eyes,
the prayer.
Right? That, you know, establish
prayer together.
And where appropriate,
maybe say just mention that one of the
sunnahs of the prophet
is that when people are gathered to remember
Allah most high.
And say, so we're going to recite the
Just say 11
times
together. And sometimes you don't give anyone chance
to object to say
You repeat it and you keep it really
brief 11 times.
By the time no one will even have
the chance to object, it'll be done.
But
one of the ways for someone to accept
something is to is to taste it.
K? So they taste, oh, wow. That's that's
beautiful.
And maybe they'll taste it again another time.
K? So keep it one of the ways
to facilitate it is
make it easy for people. Right? Rather than
going to big theoretical discussion, who could say
that remembering Allah together is wrong? Like, how?
It's it's a rationally, it's an absurd thing
to say, and we saw there's
dozens of hadiths on it. So that's hadith
number 39. Hadith number 40
So this is a beautiful hadith.
Say the Anas
relates
that
and say
where where did he pass away?
At at
the commemoration of which was just a few
days ago, Right? The anniversary of the great
battle of Mu'tah. He was one of the
3 commanders
appointed by the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
The first command he appointed the first commander
and the second commander and the third commander.
And Sayyidina Abu Luh bin Rawaha
amongst his many other virtues
was that he was one of the designated
poets of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
Right? Amongst many great virtues.
So Sayyidina Nas is talking about him in
the past tense.
Why? Because he passed away.
At that
Ab Abdullah ibn Roaha used to when he
whenever he when he met
a man, you know, a person from the
a man from the companions of the messenger
of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, he used
to say to him,
come, let's believe
in our lord for a few moments.
What did he mean?
That let us remember our Lord together.
Right?
Let's renew our faith because the prophet said,
Renew your faith. You know, refresh
your faith.
And he was asked how do you remember
refresh our faith?
By remembrance of Allah.
So this was a frequent practice. The prophet
encouraged coming together to remember Allah, prays in
the Quran. Right?
In so many verses,
in the plural.
So one day,
Abu Lahab Ra has said it to a
man
that, come, let us believe for a few
moments in our Lord. So this man got
upset
and he went to the prophet
and he said, oh messenger of Allah,
have you noticed
He turns away from your faith
to believing just for a few moments?
Because he thought he meant that you don't
have to believe except for a few moments.
He misunderstood.
Right? We said, let's come together and believe
a few moments. Let's really let's live that
belief. Let's experience that faith. But this man
took it literally. He was always literalists.
Right?
You know?
But he was a sincere literalist.
Right? So he went to the messenger. Say,
you Rasoolullah,
have you noticed Abdulla Abi Rahi, he he
turns away from your faith, right, which is
constant
faith
to believing for a few moments.
So the prophet
and look at how beautifully he corrected him.
He didn't say you got it wrong. Don't
you didn't you get it? What's wrong with
you? He just said,
May Allah have mercy on Ibn Rawaha.
And may Allah have mercy
on because he
loves the gatherings
that the angels
pride each other over.
The angels are avid to gather in
in gatherings where Allah is remembered. And this
hadith is related by ma'am Ahmed with the
same sound chain of transmission.
So this is the 40th of the hadith,
in the collection of 40 hadith of Sheikh
Yusuf and Abbehani. And, of course, the hadith
on the
merits of remembrance are countless
are countless.
And the most important lessons that we've seen
in the in this collection,
firstly,
is that the greatest and
easiest of actions is to remember Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
Right?
Nothing
purifies the heart,
illuminates the heart,
transforms
one state,
facilitates
the good,
prevents
from harm,
brings serenity
and contentment,
and the good pleasure and closeness
to Allah and the love of Allah like
remembrance of Allah. And we saw numerous hadiths
on that. Right.
We also saw that the prophet
said that given that, keep your tongue moist
with the remembrance of Allah.
That wherever you are, whatever you're doing,
remain on remembrance.
We also saw the tremendous merit
of gathering to remember Allah
That no people gather
in any house of the houses of Allah.
Remembering Allah therein, except
that that serenity descends upon them. Mercy
envelops them. The angels surround them and Allah
mentions them in the highest of company.
And the hadith from the merit of gathering
for remembrance indicate that they they remember Allah
together.
Right?
And there's numerous
authentic hadiths
on that. So that's something that should be
a practice.
And
another lesson is
avoid
in any gathering that you're in,
strive
at least on your own to be in
remembrance.
And if you can facilitate for others to
remember Allah, do so.
And from remembering Allah is reminding others of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala directly
or indirectly.
Right? So we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
to be of those who
are of the people of remembrance.
Right? Because Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
Right? Those who remember Allah much whether male
or female. Allah has prepared for them forgiveness
and tremendous reward.
And that's an amazing thing. And finally, Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
so remember me and I will remember you.
And if the Lord and sustainer
of all existence remembers you,
then you are in all good. So we
ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to uphold the
sunnah of the messenger
who remembered Allah in all his states so
intensely that he said that I am not
like you.
My eyes may sleep, yet my heart is
awake.
Awake
conscious
of his Lord even in his sleep.
