Bismillah al Rahman al Rahim al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil alameen wa salatu wa he was Salam O Allah and OB hidden Karim. Allah He of Donal Salah to atoma tasleem rubbish. ahi Sabri way silly Emery wahoo la could attend melissani of gahoo Kohli, my brothers and my sisters a center where they come or not Allahu Akbar cattle, I hope that you're all doing well in sha Allah to Allah. It is Friday, June the 18th 2020. And we continue on our journey of learning about the etiquettes of
the sun.
Right, the etiquettes within Islam, that we found that we find something of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Today, we're starting a new chapter, the devil achill worship. So we are going through the chapter of
the etiquettes of eating and drinking, okay, how to eat and you know, what? To eat, what not to eat, and so on and so forth.
And so we'll look at some things. First, before we get right into
different subtopics within the chapter, the first thing that we're going to look at in sha Allah data when we talk about you know, etiquette of
eating was short and drinking
is that we have to look at the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and see if there's any examples that we find there in about the importance of eating and drinking the etiquette is related to it. So if we look at surah two, one verse 51, Allah subhanho wa Taala says, are under the Lahaina shaitan his regime? Yeah.
Johan masuku me, pa ye
kurumi
pa ye Bertie, where a man who saw the hand in knee be mad
at him.
Johann Russell kurumi nobody but Allah subhana wa tada says all messengers eat from what is good, right Kudo may not buggy but eat from what is good.
And waffle what is permitted. HS Li Indeed, I fully know what you do. So Allah subhana wa tada tells us as believers right he tells the messengers of a lion of course the messengers of Allah are teaching us as human beings and therefore we follow the messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Muhammad was the last and final messenger to be sent by Allah subhanho wa Taala to us as human beings. And he says to the messengers kulu me not for you that
eat from what is good, and what is lawful. What a good as in, you know, is that our pure, good, permissible and so on and so forth. But also what is permitted within Islam. So don't just eat good food but eat halal food, okay, what is considered to be permissible for us now, of course, we look at what's permissible in Islam, we're not going to look at what was permissible. It's to the previous nations and the previous prophets and messengers, we're going to look at what is permitted for us based on the shitty of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
And I don't know if some of you are experiencing what I'm experiencing, but I'm up in my room, and the windows are open but it's super hot and humid and there's no breeze whatsoever and I'm just like, under the spotlights, roasting here. I feel like my job is just sticking to me everywhere to kind of live so Allah Subhana Allah says, Yeah, you heard also caminata you that were alemu I know. And no
sorry. Why mailloux before Allah subhana wa tada says no. Right lamelo
salejaw and do good deeds, right do righteous deeds. Don't just
be someone who encourages others to do righteous deeds and don't do it yourself. Okay, eat from that which is good, pure lawful, do good deeds right and act righteously.
Indeed, I fully know what you do. Allah subhana wa tada is fully aware. We also look at the example in Surah Al Baqarah, verse number 60, Karuna wash Raja Bumi riskin, Hema terrorismo Phil RBD. In eat and drink have almost provisions and do not go about spreading corruption in the land, eat and drink from what Allah subhanaw taala has made permissible but aligned with Allah has allowed us to consume
And do not eruption within the land. So Allah Subhana, which has provided so many things for us here on earth that we can consume. And there are certain things that he's provided human beings consume, but are not permissible within our Deen within our city. And that's for whatever reason, Allah subhana wa Tada, first of all, you know, encourages us to eat only things that are pure and good. He also encourages us when we look at it from a scientific and scientific perspective, that some of the meats and some of the foods that are out there are not good for human beings, they have a negative effect on the human body, and therefore a loss penalty data has kept us away from those types of
animals, for example, eating, you know, pig.
The pork meat is actually really dangerous. I remember some doctors, friend of mine back in the day, his mother was a biologist and Pamela she was saying, the bacteria that's found within the meat is very harmful and there are worms and there are so many things that you know, affect the human body.
So Allah Subhana Allah says, eat and drink of Allah's provisions, right and do not go about spreading corruption and let don't go about doing what is evil what is wrong and spreading bad throughout the land. Also, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says, Yeah, hulan semilla
he says to armour, even Abu Salah
or the Aloha robiola. He says to him all young boy, see Bismillah right some Mila say Bismillah This is when you're about to eat.
Well, could be I mean, and eat with your right, eat with your right hand. Okay, as Muslims we eat with our right hand. And I know some of you are watching, probably saying, but that's your left hand. No, it's my right hand. And they probably saying no, but it has to be your left hand because you're wearing a watch and watches are worn on left hands. Well, no, I wear my watch on my right hand. Right? I cannot wear it on my left hand for some reason. So I know due to the camera angles, a lot of the time when I'm explaining things to people, you know, sometimes I even pick up a glass and I drink some water or something. You know, people messaged me afterwards and tell me, dude, you
should know better than to be drinking with your left hand, especially when you're live streaming. And I don't drink with my left hand. It's just because the camera angle is flipped. It's the opposite on some of the live streams, not all of them. Right? So if you're watching on YouTube, it should be you know, fairly accurate on
what's his Instagram, and that Instagram, it's usually flipped the opposite. So this is my right hand. So Allah Subhana Allah, Allah tells Ahmed, even Abu sent him out with Yamaha. And he says, oh, young boy, some Mila, say Bismillah when you're about to eat, what could it be? I mean, ik and eat with your right hand.
Well call me Malik, and eat what is next to you. So in the etiquettes of eating, we see and we're not getting into it yet. This is just you know, a precursor to what we're about to get into insha Allah to Allah,
you know, an introduction to what we're getting into the Prophet sallallahu, I think it was Sunday tells him say Bismillah eat with your right hand and eat that which is next to you. Okay, so don't go and reach towards the other side of the plate. I wish I brought a plate with me. But I don't have one, you know. So if you're eating and you have a plate in front of you don't reach to the far end of the plate eat from the side of the plate that is nearest to you. And this is usually because at the time of this a habit of the law where I'm home, and we see in certain cultures today, people sit and eat together as a family together, it brings people together, it's actually better to do that
you use less dishes, there's less waste, and people eat together. Now of course, with germs and you know, nowadays with COVID-19 and stuff like that we're obviously being very careful. But as a family, within families, you know, at the early stages of COVID I know some people were very scared, they would go do groceries and they would not sit with their family they would not touch their family they would not. I remember some brothers saying I haven't touched my children in over a month and I was like Subhanallah because they were going to work every day and coming back. And I remember brothers in the masjid telling me It's been weeks it's been months since I've touched my children
because they were scared that they may transmit something to them. Whereas we see that in the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The common manner and method of eating was for multiple people to eat from one side to eat from one plate. And if you go for Hajj or Ramadan, you go to Mecca and Medina you'll see that even if you go to certain restaurants nowadays and you order rice and chicken or you order rice and camel, or whatever it is that you're ordering, they'll bring it to an a large plate, right where 678 910 people will sit around and eat out of.
So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam tells or I'm going to send him out of the Allah
Want to eat from what is nearest to you eat from the closest part of the plate to you.
So now let's get into some of the etiquettes. Okay, that was just an introduction to the chapter looking at some examples of how there are morals and values and etiquettes that are found within Islam within the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that deal with eating and drinking. So let's get into some of the etiquettes the first etiquette that we're going to look at in sha Allah Allah is with regards to the types of dishes or utensils that we eat from the types of dishes and utensils that we use in order to eat our food out of
a nanny or any achill worship fee, Ernie at the head wall football, how it is not permitted. It is disliked, discouraged within Islam,
and even forbidden to eat and drink out of dishes and utensils that are made out of gold and silver.
In a hadith of Hargeisa, I'll do more and he says Samaritan lobbyists on the LaGuardia us alumni Oh cool. This is heard the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
Latin vessel harir well a deep, he says do not wear silk and brocade,
nor eat or drink from utiles made of gold
and silver. These are meant for them in this world and for you in the hereafter. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says
as they follow the narrator, he says I heard the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say
do not wear silk and brocade brocade which is very freely you you'll see back in the day, you know traditional
style movies and stuff like that would show kings or people of nobility, right different status in society they would wear clothing made of silver, sorry, not silver of silk, but they would also have these very large frills and big embroidered, you know, edges and borders and stuff like that. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade that do not wear soakin brocade, nor eat or drink from utensils made of gold and silver, so we're not allowed to wear silk as men. Okay, this is specifically for the men. Men are not allowed within Islam to wear silk, nor eat or drink from utensils made of gold and silver.
Why? The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says these are meant for them in this world and for you in the hereafter as in those types of dishes and utensils are meant for the non Muslims of the dunya. Right in the dunya. In this world, Muslims do not consume or do not eat their food or drink whatever they're drinking out of gold and silver plates and cups and glasses. Nor do we use golden silver cutlery. Okay, utensils like spoons and forks and knives. And I know for some of you, you might say, but we have a set made out of gold, or we have a set of pure silver. What should we do with it? Well, you can sell it. Technically, if it's pure gold or pure silver, that amount, that
amount. Now I'm pretty sure it's not pure gold, it must be for sure gold plated, right. But that amount is probably especially if it's solid silver, over the minimum amount that you need to pay zakat on. So that's just something to keep in mind. Some people don't realize that there are things in their homes that are of value. And they would therefore have to pays cow ohms which is like a donation given from the savings, the wealth that we have in our savings, okay.
So keep that in mind because it's not permissible for us to use. So some people will say, but I use them. And I don't have to pay zakat on what I use. You're not allowed to use them. islamically so you're not allowed to eat from plates dipped in gold, or cups made of golden silver, or plates of golden silver or forks and knives and spoons of golden silver. Therefore, we can't say that oh, I use these utensils so I can't or I'm exempt from things that count on them. That isn't the case.
Because you're not allowed to use them in the first place, right? We're not allowed to eat using those utensils. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says, that is these are meant for them, as in the non believers, non Muslims, they will buy these types of items, they will use them in their lives, and they will have it here in this dunya. But the people of Paradise will have different luxuries that we don't necessarily experience of this world. And so golden silver utensils, these are things that we will have in the Hereafter, and it will be of a different caliber of gold, a different caliber of silver. It will be very high class, a golden silver that we can't even imagine.
We don't know really what it looks like. We don't we can't envision it within our minds. And we leave that to Allah subhanho wa Taala.
Also, in a Hadeeth, of
whom selama, the wife of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam or the lower earner on selama says that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Those who drink
from
gold and silver cups.
Verily, they fill their belly with the Hellfire, right, this is what she says if we translate it literally. So she says, The Prophet sallallahu I need to send them the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Those who drink of gold and silver, you know utensils, cutlery, spoons, sorry, cups,
vessels, whatever it is that we use are consumed to eat or drink out of those who drink out of cups of gold and silver.
Verily, they fill their bellies with the Hellfire
your gems button Woohoo. See button the heat 90 john them. They're filling their stomachs with the fire of john. Loss of how to or whatever Allah protect us all. And all of the scholars agree. It's not like a difference of opinion where someone's gonna say, oh, but I'm kinda iffy. Or I'm Chef II and I'm Maliki's an exempt from this. No.
Well, edge Matt Alaina arella and the whole AIG was a sort of goofy her behalf. The scholars unanimously agree, right, the mother had the different schools of jurisprudence unanimously agreed that it is not permissible to drink or eat from gold and silver plates and dishes and cups. Okay.
The next thing that we'll look at, in short, local to Ireland, this is the last part of what we'll take for today.
Because of marketing, of course, and it's Friday, and we want to finish a little bit before my time for drought and also time to get to the masjid because I know a lot of brothers say, you know, the live sessions are great, but we have an issue attending the live session and then making it to the masjid. And so I'll try to finish it up giving ample time to make it to the masjid and I know that in sha Allah Allah they should be able to make it to the masjid because I will be doing the same thing I will be driving to the masjid and leading Salatin level in sha Allah to Allah. So the next part that we'll look at in terms of the etiquettes of food and drink within Islam is a nephew I
didn't kill with Turkey and
how it is disliked within Islam, or prohibited right even to the extent where it is prohibited
to
eat while leaning back.
okay to eat while leaning back. And I will give some examples. I'll try to balance on my chair and give some examples of how this is done. Okay.
So first off
Abu hanifa
B says, couldn't do renderosity Rasulullah
sallallahu sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, I was in company of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and Along came a man. Right and a man said to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam this man was with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to this man, I do not eat my meals while leaning back profits
Allahu alayhi wa sallam said, I do not eat my meals while leaning, meaning now what does it mean to mean? Okay with Turkey, and what does it mean to lean? So the scholars say they differ Now, some of them say any kind of leaning. So to lean back on the chair, no, we shouldn't do that. Right, lean forward on the chair. In fact, the etiquette of eating when seated at a table, if you look at the non Muslim etiquettes, or we could say, like the European etiquettes, of sitting at a table and eating is that you do not lean back when the food is served, you lean back when there's no food in front of you. And when the waiter or waitress is bringing the food and putting it down in front of
you, right, because that's how nobility eats. And then when the food is served, then you sit upright, you lean off the back of your chair, and you lean forward over the plate with your back straight and your head straight and you take the utensils and you eat this way without leaning back. When you're done eating, you can lean back, right? So that's in the etiquette of the non Muslims, we could say, when sitting at a table, using a chair sitting down and eating. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he says to this man, I do not eat my meals leaning. So some of the scholars say any kind of Leaning, leaning on anything in any way. Okay? Whatever it is that you consider to be
leaning, don't mean don't mean back. Okay, don't mean against something,
then some of the scholars say,
what is meant by this is leaning on one side to actually be on your side, and to eat food, right to be leaning on your side, and eating food on either side, okay, and you're eating your food, okay, so you might be laying down in bed and eating, we should not do that, okay, we should not lean on the side or lay on our sides and eat food.
And then some of the scholars say leaning back on the left hand, why specifically, the left hand will because technically the Muslim is supposed to be eating with their right hand. So if they're eating with their right hand, they only have one hand left to lean on. And that is the left hand. So they'd sit back like this and mean on their left hand, right.
I wish I was doing this on the floor, it would be much easier for me to to show you
what exactly we're referring to here or if we're in the mustard room and a lot better. So to basically be leaning back on your left arm, right leaning back like this, and just eating your fruit. right because you have nothing behind you. You have no wall behind you. So some people will lean back on their left head.
Why is that not permitted? Well, from one of the ways that it is disliked to sit in Islam is to sit leaning back on the palms of your hands, because that is one of the positions of punishment in Jannah. One of the positions of punishment is that you will be leaning back on your hands and a punishment will be dealt to the front of the person. Okay, not you. Not you, not me, not us shout Allahu taala ask Allah Subhana Allah to save us all and protect us. But one of the methods of sitting to receive a punishment in jahannam is to be reclining, and leaning on the palms of one's hand or on the palm of the left hand in particular, why the left hand? Well, it's because of eating,
eating, people will be eating with the right hand and leaning on their left hand. Okay.
So that's one of the reasons why the scholars some scholars say that it's not permissible to lean on your left hand, because you'll be eating food with your right hand anyways, and if someone's leaning on the right hand and eating with their left hand then it's like a double wrong. Right, it's a double wrong because you're supposed to be eating with your right hand labtech kulu Mishima the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says do not eat with your left hand for initiate Vanya call for initiated by a call to be Sheila verily shape on eats with his left, right so don't eat with your left to eat with your right.
So to recap, the profits on a longer it will send them says I do not eat with my
Sorry, I do not eat my meals while leaning and some of the scholars say any kind of leaning. Others say meaning on one side, like laying down right on either side. And then some of the other scholars say leaning on the left hand. Again, put it all together. Basically, don't lean back while eating your meals. If you're sitting down
and you're just having like, you know, a snack, something small, having some MCI having some gy You know, that's okay. We're talking about eating a meal. You're eating your meal you're eating constantly putting food in your mouth. That's what
What we're referring to here, okay?
Why?
Why is it disliked? Why is it not permitted islamically to sit and lean back while eating?
Well, it was a form of arrogance. And it was an arrogant way of sitting by some of the kings or the noble people of the past. And it encourages eating more. So when you sit back, your belly is actually sticking out. Right sitting back, you're leaning back, you're making space you are, you know, giving your stomach space to grow and expand. So you fill it with more food. When you lean forward, you're kind of crunching your stomach and therefore making it a little bit smaller and you will eat less you will control the amount that you eat. Now, what are some of the
what are some of the positions that we should sit in while eating food?
Now if you look at the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wasallam. We don't find them sitting at tables and chairs because it just wasn't common. It wasn't it wasn't the norm for them. It was something that was around at their time. But it was not something common for the Arabs. They would sit on the floor, whether they were Muslim or even non Muslim, the machete cone right the courage they would sit on the floor.
They did have benches they did have seats that they would recline on, but generally they would sit on the floor to eat. Now.
We see in some narrations, multiple different methods of sitting while eating. Okay, multiple different methods of sitting while eating.
In one Hadeeth Anissa bin Malika are the young man says he saw the profits on Allahu Allahu wa sallam right in Libya. sallallahu alayhi wa sallam squatting yet called Tama. He was squatting and he was eating Tama. In fact, ignore Canyon Rahim Allah He says that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his method of sitting and eating was to squat on his feet, right?
To sit on his knees with the bottoms of his feet on the ground. And then he mentions to put his left over the bottom of the left foot over the top of the right foot. And I know some of you are like, Ah, what is that? So let me try and do this. See if this works.
I don't want to fall off my chair.
Let's see if I can get some space here. Okay.
Let me try and
change the angle of this a little bit.
Let's see how this goes.
Okay.
All right. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam when sitting, one of the methods is to sit in the tashahhud position. Okay to sit like, on your knees to show it like you're praying solo. Okay. Another method is to, like I said, squat on your feet. So put your feet down, right? And just do this to eat like this.
Okay, and then ignore grandma hold on says the profits along it was someone would put his left foot over the right foot like this. Right? So you take your left foot and this is why the kind of fees they'll teach you right now this is weird. I'm like on camera standing up. So the teach you to put your foot over, you can't see that. You put it over and then you just squat down like this, the reason why you put your foot over why Hana fees will teach you this. How to fees will teach you the reason why you do that is because this type of sitting
is very similar to squatting when using the bathroom on one of those Eastern style toilets, right? And you're squatting using the bathroom on one of those Eastern style toilets where you know, you go to Mecca and Medina and you're squatting down on the ground.
So this method of sitting,
usually, if people are going to use a bathroom, their feet are not going to be close to each other, the feet are going to be open so that they can relieve themselves. Alright, I know it's really weird, but this is this is like how we learned we have to be very open and free to be able to say these things to each other. So you're gonna open your legs because when you want to relieve yourself, right, you want to go pee and poo, you're going to let it go. You don't want it to go on your feet. So in order to differentiate between using the bathroom and
eating
the sitting
Position of eating, you put your feet together,
put your feet together, this is a sign of respect as well that you are closing concealing this area, right? concealing it, in case anyone is in front of you, in case anyone is sitting in front of you, they will not see through remember, they didn't used to wear pants like you and I, right? They would wear an ease out and Lida, right, they would wear a,
you know, sometimes a gallon on top, but the bottom part, usually at that time was like a monkey or a sarong, right? He's off. So they would just tie it around them like a bedsheet. And so anyone who's sitting in front, if you're squatting like this, well, I can see your private parts, right. So that's why they used to conceal this area, by pulling their gown down, but also putting their feet over in order to create more of, you know, a closed seated position. I hope that's clear. Another method as well, is to sit, you know, with your leg up. So the same way we were mentioning before,
you know, when you're squatting, and what's happening there is that you're pushing against your stomach, so you're eating less food. And you'll notice the panel if we start to do these things within our lives, and we you know, get rid of the table sit on the floor, and we start to sit in these ways, not only our eat less, because it's very hard for us to sit in that position for a long time. And we say you know what, whatever I can eat while I'm sitting this way, is what I'm gonna eat. And that's it. Also, you're sitting with your legs pressing against your stomach, right.
So my stomach is against my eyes. So I can't eat as much food my stomach isn't out, as opposed to the previous manner of sitting.
Sorry, I'm doing all of this on a swivel chair.
On the computer chair, interesting, humble I didn't fall. So let me just just readjust this.
So as I was saying the previous method that
we were talking about that is not permitted is to lean back. And the reason why we said is you mean back, your stomach is just sticking out and you're basically encouraging, eating more food. So when you have your legs pressed up against your stomach, you eat less food.
I hope that makes sense.
This is why I like teaching in the mustard in person so that we can do these things. I could stand on the table and do it for you instead of balancing on my chair here in my room in front of a bunch of screens and devices and spotlights that are really hot.
The last narration that we'll look at last Hadeeth that we'll look at is
I gave where we were we were were we a muthoni if I now have to live in Boston. So I'm gonna live in Boston. rhodiola han says about eight and Nabhi No.
I gave the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam a gift of a sheep. He says I gave the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam a gift of a sheep. And the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sat on his feet to eat. So he sat on his feet is basically squatted down to eat a bed when men said, What is this type of sitting? Like how are you sitting? You're not sitting like leaning back. You're not reclining. You're squatting on your feet. How is this type of sitting? The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Allah made me humble, and a generous slave, and has not made me arrogant and stubborn. Okay, Allah has made me
humble and a generous servant, and has not made me arrogant and stubborn. And so he is showing this bedwin men that I'm sitting in a humble, simplified manner to eat the food that is a gift from Allah subhanho wa Taala. And
you know, I'm not doing this out of arrogance, and there's no arrogance within me. I don't need a chair. I don't need a bench. I don't need to recline. I don't need to be served. And you'll notice when you look at like, you know, movies, you have people sitting back and they're like, bring the food and they bring it in, they take in, take a bite out of it and throw that piece away. And then it takes something else in and take a bite out of it and throw it away. And just like such arrogance, right, that's not the way of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So that's that in terms of what we're going to cover for today in sha Allah to Allah
We'll open it up for some questions. I saw some questions there. I'll take that in a second. Let me just okay, that's where we left off. Okay.
So
yes, you could be my camera person next time. And I could do a demo on the floor. It's just very hard with all these cameras all the time. So there was a question here that says, does it actually happen that people have golden silver plates nowadays? Yes, it does. People still have gold and silver plated.
You know, cutlery and stuff like that I know, that we live in, in a day and age where everything should be disposable, right? where it's like, oh, I don't want to just I just want to throw everything in the garbage when I'm done hosting people. And you know, have that simplicity of life. But there still are many people who live in a certain way as in they have standards for themselves and standards in how they welcome their guests into their homes. And you know, very well we've been to people's houses where the cutlery was gold or silver, and we just didn't use it, right. Just didn't use it. We use something else something simple.
From the law, so yes, people still do that. And nowadays, you'll find that it's more golden silver plated. But even though it's golden silver plated, we should still avoid using it because it is still gold and silver wrapped around it.
Because it please explain why it is permissible to pray a shot in the mosque at 10:30pm. Even though the time for a shot, it doesn't start until around 1054.
So you will come run, we pray a shot at 11pm.
In the masjid, we don't pray 1030.
So, I know some people were saying, hey, the timing was 1030. Now he said timing is 11 o'clock. So hamdulillah we don't have that issue. Not to worry. Everything's taken care of. We pray once a time mentors handed in hamdulillah.
hope that's okay. By extension, is it permissible to do
the same when praying any shot at home I pray or shot slightly earlier? No. So what we should do is look
at so
the best is always to be safe, right? do what's right according to Allah subhanho wa Taala and play it safe.
Now,
during the month of Ramadan, when Ramadan is in the summer months, many massages, including ours will have a shot earlier. Because a shot is so late, the days are so long, the nights are so short, and it's very challenging for us to have the prayer a shot plus the Torah We are late
and still be able to have some sort of normalcy and sleep and stuff like that. So
the time is brought back due to an exception. Okay. And that, of course still falls within some of the parameters of what is permitted what could be permitted exception, especially during the time of an exception, okay.
You'll see that the different methods of calculation vary from place to place because of the angles that we are at on earth and angles that the sun rises and sets. Also because of you know, geographical location and altitude and stuff like that.
Taking all of that into consideration, we now see that there are multiple different methods to figure out the timing for a shell. But what is the best way to figure it out is to go into look and the timing for a shout begins when the sky is completely black. And there are there's no more light from the sun. In the sky as in you don't see any whiteness and the sky is is not still like
you know gray, it's not just lit up a little bit. It's dark black in this visible that's when a shot time has entered. So the best is to pray when the time of Russia enters.
If in certain areas certain massaged calculated differently and you want to follow your Masjid on that and hamdulillah right. They are making that decision for you that you memes they're making that decision for you. And I always encourage Look, if you're going to pray in the masjid. You don't have
choice when the gym and it takes place. So pray according to the gym, that's there. And if you're going to pray at home, then you do have a choice to pray on the timing that you have at home.
So, is there more reward eating a meal with bare hands than with a spoon and fork? In terms of more rewards Allah knows best. But do we see that in the time or during the time of the Prophet sallallahu? I'd even sent him to use to use utensils. Yes, in fact, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself had something that looked like a spork. Something that looked like a spork. Right. It was a spoon with teeth on the end.
And not only is it something that is some people say, Oh, that's just speculation. No, it isn't. It's not speculation, because
first of all, we actually do have the documented item. in Medina. I remember seeing it myself, right. spork that was used by the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
Also, in a narration, that mentions the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam would cut or dig into the meat when the meat was cooked, right, he would
like dig into it and pull pieces off, right. And then he would take it and eat it with his hands, as in the profits, and along that I didn't was selling would not take big pieces, like a burger, for example, you take a burger.
That's not the way the prophet SAW longer and even some of us to eat, he would have something and he would break small pieces off of it and then eat it. And that's where the use of the hand comes into play. So using the spork was something to carve and to cut the piece out bigger piece and not take the whole thing and
eat it like a popsicle right now the profits that along with it he was selling them would then have the bigger piece. And he would break small piece and bite sized pieces off and put it in his mouth sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and eat because he didn't consider it proper to
do this, right? Remember the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his teeth would only be seen sometimes when he would smile. Right when he would smile. And so
he would take the food and put it in his mouth and eat some Allahu Allah he was.
So as for it being more rewarding, Allah, how do we tell it knows best? I don't know of any narration.
I'll look into it. But I don't know of any narration that mentioned specifically that is more rewarding to eat with your fingers as opposed to eating with utensils.
So what about sitting on the couch as a family, or I need to be
watching something and you're eating snacks, etc, you would be leaning at that point, this would be sinful. So like I said, there's a difference between eating a meal and eating some snacks. Okay, if you have like some tea or something, and you know, you're just sitting back, you're just sick. Just taking a sip, you're not eating a meal, okay? Or you just take some nuts and eat it or a few chips and you eat it. Okay, that's different than actually eating a full meal when you're talking about eating a full meal. Now remember, what's also mentioned in the Hadeeth is that, you know, it was seen the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was seen eating dates.
And he wouldn't be reclining.
But a dates was a full meal.
Okay. What's always best though, is to not sit and have a full meal while leaning back and reclining. Because remember, it's an arrogant way of sitting. So if a person is doing out of out of arrogance, then yes, that is sinful, okay, not allowed. And also, you're sitting in a position where you just keep eating and eating and eating and eating and eating, and you just don't have an end to it. And that's where we need to be very careful of doing okay.
Every dining chairs back to the night.
Yeah, so that's why I was saying from the etiquettes, of eating at the table, even within the European etiquettes of dining at a table is that you don't sit back, leaning back while you're eating. You've been back waiting for the food. When the plate of food has come is served to you and put in front of you then you mean forward with your back straight and you eat without meaning. You're not supposed to lean back. That's from the etiquettes of eating at the table, according to non Muslims.
All right, that's all the time that we have need to make it to the masjid for mostly just like human level hate on barakallahu li Khan
or sallallahu or send them all about
Get out of you know Mohammed or Allah and he was talking he was tell him was sent him when he come to LA he will work
