The Goals Of Hajj

Hajj

should be looked at within the context

of Islam as a whole.

Though I've been asked to speak about hedge,

and many if not most of you are contemplating making hedge.

It is important that we understand hedge within the context of Islam as a totality.

Because Hajj is not a separate entity from the rest of Islam. It is the fifth of the five pillars of Islam. Prophet Muhammad, mega peace and blessings be upon him, informed us that Islam was built on five pillars and Hajj was the fifth which he identified. Now, to understand Hajj

within this context,

we have to understand fundamentally the the goals of the pillars of Islam because have only one of five

and it will share the same goals as all of the other Pillars of Islam

share.

We know fundamentally that whatever a law has prescribed for us,

he has not done so out of any need.

That he has,

that we can fulfill for him.

When Allah has prescribed for us, these fillers is prescribed them for us out of a need which we have for the spirit.

So this is why it is fundamentally important to understand Hajj within the context of the pillars of Islam, and the goal. The fundamental goals of these pillars
