AI: Summary ©
We are living in the greatest blessed days
of the entire year.
The first days, 10 days of the Hijjah
that culminate, that peaks
at the 2 days of Arafah
and then Eid al Abha.
And it is important, brothers and sisters, not
to let an occasion like this,
a season like this.
To pass us by
without
doing the right deeds and the righteous deeds
during these days. And also reflecting
and understanding
on what these days mean.
What this Eid means.
What does Yom Arafah means
to us?
This aid is known as Eid al Abha.
And that means the day of the sacrifice.
And when we reflect on that we always
think of the
ram that was slaughtered, that was sacrificed
for
Isma'il alaihi salaam.
But the meaning is much bigger than that.
Eid al Adha,
it's That is what Why it is one
of the greatest aids of Islam if not
the greatest aid. We have only 2 of
them.
And this Eid is called Al Eid Al
Kabir. It's the biggest Eid. It's the big
Eid.
Because the meaning of sacrifice brothers and sisters
is essential in our religion. With that sacrifice,
Islam could not have been spread.
With that sacrifice,
Islam
could not have reached us.
With that sacrifice,
we can now reach Jannah.
We have to sacrifice in this dunya
to attain the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
So the concept, the idea of sacrifice,
not only need to be celebrated
but lived
and understood.
And know that nothing comes for free.
And especially when it comes to Jannah,
it's never free.
It's actually
an expensive thing to buy. An expensive thing
to get.
The goods that Allah is offering us is
expensive, is precious.
It has a lot of value and that
is the Jannah. And without the idea of
sacrifice,
brothers and sisters, we cannot reach there.
When we reflect on Ibrahim, why is the
Hajj is so linked to Ibrahim alayhis salaam?
When we do
the sai, we are walking in the footsteps
of Hajar, the wife of Ibrahim alaihis salam.
When we are Dua the Rami,
we are mimicking and emulating
what Nabiullah Ibrahim alayhis salatu wa sallam has
done.
Why is the hajj is so linked to
Ibrahim?
We we make tawaf around the the house
that he built along with Ishmael.
Because Ibrahim
symbolizes
the concept of sacrifice.
Ibrahim
is the role model
of what you would sacrifice
and how would you sacrifice it.
Ibrahim alaihis salam started off with sacrificing his
own self
when he was thrown in the fire for
the sake of La ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah.
Ibrahim alaihis salam
sacrificed his watan, his dwelling, his home home
city, hometown, homeland.
He sacrificed all of that, left it all
behind, and made hijrah,
and moved from where he was in Iraq
to Palestine.
Ibrahim alaihis salam sacrificed
his wife and infant child when he was
ordered by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to leave them in a valley that has
no cultivation, that has no fruit, that has
no nothing that will grow in it.
And he did.
He did without questioning.
And when Hajar
wanted to question this act that that seems
to be on its hour, so harsh, uncalled
for.
What's the purpose of it?
And she asked him, Yeah Ibrahim, where are
you leaving us?
And she called on him 3 times, and
then he's not replying. He didn't even turn
around so his heart doesn't break.
And then she said,
Is it Allah that ordered you and joined
upon you, commanded you to do this? And
he said,
yes, And she said, with the iman, with
the sabr, with the yaqeen, with the certainty
of the believer,
then Allah
will not let us go astray.
And then the ultimate
story of sacrifice, the one that we
celebrate every year,
is when Ibrahim alaihi salam was ordered and
given a command through a dream
to sacrifice
to slaughter his own son
for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And Ibrahim alaihis salam, when he was given
those clear signs repeatedly
in his malam, in his sleep,
he didn't question
what is the wisdom of this?
What what can I get out of killing
my own son?
He did never question that. And the reason
I'm mentioning that, brothers and sisters, is a
lot of times when we hear a command
from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to do this
or to do that, many people ask, well,
what is the wisdom of it?
The wisdom of it is Allah commanded
it. The wisdom of it is this is
the will of Allah,
and we are the people that say
We are the people that say we hear
and we obey.
We don't question
the orders and the commands. Once we know,
once we are certain that it came from
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and his messenger, Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, we don't say why.
We don't ask why.
And we shouldn't ask why. If anyone should
have asked why, it would be Ibrahim when
he was told to kill his own son.
And he never did. And when Isma'il alaihis
salam
heard about this, he didn't say, oh, my
father, Abra'atuh
Alam, you know, this dream may be just,
you know,
a a weird thing. You shouldn't he didn't
say that.
He didn't say, my father, you're getting old,
and I'm afraid you may be getting confused
about what you want.
He never questioned at all the will of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Instead, he said,
Oh, my father, do what you are commanded
to do.
Sacrifice.
Sacrifice
is
the ultimate thing that we do in this
in this Eid, brothers and sisters.
The companions of Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallam
followed his example. The example not only of
Ibrahim,
but of our Messenger, Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam, who sacrificed
everything in this world
for La ilaha illallah, and for this call,
for this dawah to reach us,
for us to be Muslims.
And the sahaba understood that.
And there was nothing dear to them. Nothing
was too much to give for the sake
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Starting with their lives,
with their property,
with their homes, with everything they owned. We
know
many stories, and I can mention just touch
on some of them. Because we cannot mention
all the sacrifices that the sahaba made, that
the companions of Rasulullah
made.
Abdulrahman ibn Affwan 1 was one of the
richest people in Quraish. And for the sake
of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala left everything behind,
and he took only 5 dinars with him
when he made hijrah.
So Haybuk Nusinan
Radhiallahu
an, when he was about to leave Mecca,
he was stopped. And they said, You suhayb,
you came to us with nothing,
and now you want to leave with your
money, and your wealth, and everything you gained
right here in Makkah, and follow Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. And he said, how
about if I give you everything I have?
He didn't negotiate. He said, I'll give you
20%,
50%.
Let's just see what would they will settle
on. He said, I will immediately, he said,
I will give it all to you. Is
that what you're following me for?
I will give you everything.
And he did, and they let him go.
And when rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam saw
him, he said,
Your trade has is profitable.
What you sacrificed
is nothing
compared what you what you what you are
gonna get.
Musa'ab ibn Umayr
He was
the most
I would say I wouldn't say spoiled, but
most
purse people in Quraysh, most of the young
people of Quraysh that had such a good
life, a luxurious life, a life that is
so filled with so much gift.
He was from a rich family. He was
a handsome
person with charisma,
And he would be known from how well
he's dressed in Quraysh.
You know, we have fashion and trendsetters.
And Musa'ib Nur Umair, people will look at
him and just see how well he's dressed
and how nice he smelled.
And then when he became a Muslim, he
left all of that behind,
and his family disowned him.
And he went to Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa
sallam with nothing, and then he was martyred
on the day of Uhud.
And then when he was martyred, they looked
at everything he owned, and he had only
one garment. And they went and tried to
make that one garment his.
If they cover his head, his feet will
show. And if they cover his feet, his
head will show.
That was the richest
young man in Quraish
who sacrificed everything. And that made tears come
to the eyes of Rasoolullah salallahu alaihi wa
sallam. And he said, wallahi, I saw you
when you were in that nina. When you
were in that station. And now I see
you like this.
But that is the bay that is the
trade that we make with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala. Every Sahabi sacrificed, and they sacrificed everything
they have
for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Even Abdullah ibn Maktoum Al Ama, the blind
man.
He wanted to go to jihad
He wanted to sacrifice.
And then he went to and they said,
what are we gonna do with you? You're
blind.
You're blind. He said, yeah. I can hold
the banner. Because when they come at me,
I can see them, so I cannot run.
I will be here holding the banner for
you.
And he was martyred,
Radiallahu an.
This sacrifice
these sacrifices that we we we had. These
sacrifices
of the messenger of Allah, the sahaba of
Rasulullah.
And everyone, every alim, every sheikh should not
go astray, brothers and sisters. We should
honor that. We should cherish that.
We should make that so precious and adhere
to it and have our own sacrifice. When
we go through difficulty,
when our ummah is going through difficulty, we
should have that faith in our hearts.
That nothing comes with that sacrifice.
That nothing will be achieved with that sacrifice.
And we don't determine what Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala
is commanding
of us to sacrifice.
Ibrahim sacrifices his own life, his own wife,
his own son.
That is
the meaning of Eid ul Adha.
And the day of Arafah,
who will we witness tomorrow insha'Allah
is one of the greatest days of the
year.
It is the day where Rasulullah salallahu alaihi
wa sallam
made his one and only and final Hajj.
Hajjulwada.
And he gave his speech. He gave his
recommendations.
He gave us his wasiya.
He gave us his will on that day.
And then he said,
That your blood is so sacred.
Your money is sacred.
Just like how sacred this day is
in this month
and in this town, in this place, which
is Arafa, Saeed Arafa or Makkah, Al Haram
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
After I leave
and that was that's why it was the
will of Rasool Allah Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam. He
was preparing this Umma for what is to
come.
Don't be striking your at each other's necks.
Don't be spilling your own blood. Don't be
taking your own money. Don't be don't be
interfering on each other's property
because it is sacred.
Just like how sacred this month is and
how sacred that day is and how sacred
that place was.
And then he, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said
in the Khutbah, in this faith in this
will,
Fear Allah
in your woman.
You have taken these women, your wives, your
spouses
with the word of Allah.
They became halal to you because of Allah.
It's only noble,
generous,
honorable people that honor their wives
and their women.
And it's only
mean and wretched people
who do not do that.
The best of you are those who are
best to their families.
And Ahel can mean the entire family, but
also in Arabic can mean the spouse,
your wife.
And I am the best of you to
my wife. I am the best of you
to my family.
Follow my example, sallallahu alaihi wasallam said.
And then equality.
We should never look
upon each other as I am better than
you or you are better than me because
of where I come from or where you
come from. Because of the skin color.
Because of how we talk.
Or what language we speak.
Rasulullah Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam said
in this famous quote of this
Oh people, oh humanity,
everyone.
Your lord is 1.
Your creator is 1.
And your father is 1.
You all go back to Adam.
And Adam goes back to the soil, to
the dust, to this, to the to the
dirt of this earth.
That's where you came all from.
We all came from the very same origin.
So he said,
there is no fable, there is no status,
there is no rank that the Arab has
over a non Arab, or a white has
over a black.
The only way
that we have honor
is the taqwa.
That those who have most taqwa
are those are the ones who are favored
within Allah before Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. And
when it comes to that, Rasulullah salallahu alaihi
wa sallam said,
3 times he pointed to his heart, to
his chest. He said, there's this is where
taqwa is. Taqwa is not a garment you
wear. It's not a word you say. Only
Allah can see how much taqwa we have.
And when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sees how
much taqwa we have, he will honor us
depending on that. So none of us can
claim.
None of us can say, I have more
taqwa than this person or that person has
more. It's only Allah that knows that.
So reach
to Allah with Taqwa
fearing Allah, subhanahu wa
ta'ala. Watch, be watchful of Allah, be mindful
of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Let's reach the station of Ihsan where we
worship Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, as if we
see him. And if we don't see him,
then he sees us and we have that
deep belief in that.
Is to fear Al Jalil, the almighty Allah
And to be to to fit our lives,
to model our lives after the Tanzil,
after the book of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And to be prepared for the day of
departure
because brothers and sisters, this dunya is
short.
It's temporary.
Whether it's good or bad,
whether it we are rich or poor, whether
we are healthy or sick,
this is temporary.
This will all pass.
And it will be nothing but a mirage,
but a but a but a but a
a thing of the of that has no
value
except our deeds, except what we take before
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. So let's enrich our
status before Allah. Let's enrich our deeds, and
let's fill our hearts with taqwa.
We are let's let's make taqwa
It's our goal, not gathering the dunya,
but increasing
our closeness and our taqwa to Allah, subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
The day of Arafah
is the day
where Allah
revealed a verse
that a rabbi, a scholar of the Jewish
faith came to Rasulullah
or came to Umar
and he said,
you have a verse in your book
that if we had it, we would make
it a day of Eid. We would make
it a day of celebration.
We would commemorate that day.
And Umar said, which ayah is this?
And the scholar
said Today,
I have completed your religion for
you, and I have
perfected my my bounty, my gift upon you.
And, I am Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
I'm pleased and satisfied with Islam as your
religion. And Umar Radhiallahu Anhu said, wallahi, I
know where it was revealed
and when it was revealed and on what
occasion it was revealed. It was revealed on
the day of Arafa on Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam
when he was standing there before Allah. And
it is a day of age for us.
It is a day that we commemorate.
So brothers and sisters,
let's do our best
in our fasting tomorrow
for those who are able,
in remembering Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, and making
dua on the day that dua will not
be turned by allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And remember the best of zikr,
the best of phrases that we can say
is what Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam taught us
what to say.
Keep saying it a 100 times, a 1000
times if you can that day. His Rasool
Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, this is the
best that I've ever said on a day
like this and what the prophets before me
have said. That's the best dua.
That's the best way you get close to
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. But, yes, you can
make dua for any other thing you want
of this dunya and in akhirah, for your
parents, for your children.
Dedicate that day for dua.
Get close to Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, and
be prepared for the day of Eid,
the day of the sacrifice.
For those who are able,
do your sacrifice.
And the sacrifices after salatulayid.
It has to be done after we pray
Eid.
And it is for the next 3 days
after that.
So take advantage of it. And if you
cannot afford 1,
have another person maybe share half with you.
Or 4 people
that would do a quarter each. But if
you can do anything, do it.
That is the day when we get close
to Allah
with this particular Ibadah, with the Ibadah of
sacrifice.
And also during the Eid, we have to
remember our arham. We have to remember our
kinship. We have to connect
with those who don't connect with us.
The person who connects the Rahim,
Allah will connect him. And the wasal al
Rahim is not the person who connect those
who connect them back.
The wasal is the one who connects those
who cut him off.
So remember that. Reach out.
Be the person that will give the first
salaam,
the first
gesture
of
reconciliation
and
fill those days
with the mention of Allah
with the tahleel and a tahmid and a
tasbih.
Fill those days with dimension of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
And
make sure your families
are according to your ability, according to what
you can provide.
Give them what they need to be happy
on this day.
Spoil your children on that one day
for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
But most of all, this aid comes
with our hearts bleeding.
This aid comes
with deep
pain
that we all have, and we cannot forget
that.
We cannot
put that aside.
Muslims are suffering all over the world,
but our current wound
that is bleeding heavily
is in Gaza.
We should remember those brothers and sisters, those
families, those women and children, those elderly
on the day of Arafa.
Make dua to them as much as possible.
Remember them in your heart.
Feel their pain.
Feel their suffering.
Be with them. If you cannot be with
them with your body and with physically,
be with them with your heart,
and be with them with what you can
give. Be with them with what you can
do to ease their pain. And ask Allah
to accept their shuhada. Ask Allah to accept
their
Ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to accept their
sacrifice
because will Allah either doing the ultimate sacrifice
for this ummah. Allah either standing on the
front line
for this ummah for every one of us.
And they're given everything
with a smile, with the word of
for the sake of Allah and for this
religion and for our sake. The the simplest
thing we can do, the least we can
do is to be with them, with what
we can do, what we can give with
our hearts and with our dua.
Still
still
