Biography Salah Mahmoud

Shaykh Salah Mahmoud is a highly respected Islamic scholar and educator, originally from Egypt. He demonstrated an early commitment to the Quran, completing its memorization (hifdh) at the tender age of 10. Shaykh Salah pursued his higher education at the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies. His dedication to Islamic scholarship is further evidenced by the various Ijazaat (certifications) he has obtained in Quranic studies, highlighting his expertise and deep understanding of the Holy Quran.

Shaykh Salah Mahmoud has served as an Imam in several prominent Islamic institutions in the United States. His previous roles include serving at the Jamaica Muslim Center and The Muslim American Society of Queens in New York City. In addition to his duties as an Imam, Shaykh Salah was the head of the Islamic Studies & Quran Department at Brighter Horizons Academy in Dallas, Texas. His leadership extended to his role as a visiting Imam at various Masajid in the Dallas area, where he provided spiritual guidance and support to the Muslim community.

In July 2019, Shaykh Salah Mahmoud joined the Islamic Center of Frisco (ICF) as an Imam. ICF, established in May 2007, is located approximately 27 miles north of downtown Dallas and serves as a hub for Islamic education and community services. At ICF, Shaykh Salah plays a pivotal role in the Quran Academy, Sunday School, and Safwah Seminary educational programs. The center also offers a variety of services including youth group activities, educational seminars, adult education classes, summer school, nikkah services, and Islamic counseling.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Shaykh Salah enjoys playing soccer and table tennis in his free time. He is also dedicated to using his chaplaincy skills to help others, reflecting his compassionate approach to community service. Shaykh Salah is married with one child and has been living in the USA for over eight years. He is multilingual, speaking Arabic and English fluently, and is currently learning Urdu to connect with his newborn, who has a unique American-Pakistani-Egyptian heritage.

Shaykh Salah Mahmoud’s extensive experience in both Islamic scholarship and community leadership makes him a valuable asset to the Islamic Center of Frisco and the broader Muslim community in the United States.
