We've all been watching over the past couple

00:00:03 --> 00:00:07

of weeks students set up encampments in universities

00:00:07 --> 00:00:10

all over the country first and then all

00:00:10 --> 00:00:14

over the world alhamdulillah and to say that

00:00:14 --> 00:00:17

it's been you know something that we're proud

00:00:17 --> 00:00:18

of or what have you I feel like

00:00:18 --> 00:00:21

that would be too patronizing because they are

00:00:21 --> 00:00:24

actually not a source of pride as much

00:00:24 --> 00:00:27

as they're a source of inspiration you know

00:00:27 --> 00:00:30

we aspire to be like them students have

00:00:30 --> 00:00:33

become the leaders after watching for seven months

00:00:34 --> 00:00:40

our politicians fail our community leaders fail the

00:00:40 --> 00:00:44

adults so to speak fail and so students

00:00:44 --> 00:00:48

took it upon themselves to risk their careers

00:00:48 --> 00:00:52

to risk their graduations to risk their academic

00:00:52 --> 00:00:57

futures and they said in one voice that

00:00:57 --> 00:01:01

you know the our educations are not more

00:01:01 --> 00:01:03

important than the education of the children of

00:01:03 --> 00:01:07

gaza as we saw 12 universities all 12

00:01:07 --> 00:01:10

universities in gaza be destroyed as we saw

00:01:10 --> 00:01:14

their school systems their journalists their scholars be

00:01:14 --> 00:01:18

killed and what's being called scholasticity and so

00:01:18 --> 00:01:21

this is a beautiful effort and ask allah

00:01:21 --> 00:01:24

azawajal to accept from all of us and

00:01:24 --> 00:01:28

so in in line of that spirit of

00:01:28 --> 00:01:30

just wanting to support this the students in

00:01:30 --> 00:01:33

whatever way that we can I wanted to

00:01:33 --> 00:01:36

share just a couple of quick points number

00:01:36 --> 00:01:38

one the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he

00:01:38 --> 00:01:43

says he says that know that victory comes

00:01:43 --> 00:01:46

with sabr victory comes with sabr what is

00:01:46 --> 00:01:49

sabr sabr is generally translated as patience but

00:01:49 --> 00:01:51

it's actually much more than just patience it's

00:01:51 --> 00:01:53

a much bigger word than patience sabr is

00:01:53 --> 00:01:58

resilience sabr is perseverance sabr is grit sabr

00:01:58 --> 00:02:02

is is is fortitude all of that is

00:02:02 --> 00:02:04

included in the word sabr and the prophet

00:02:04 --> 00:02:10

sallallahu alayhi people who are successful in any

00:02:10 --> 00:02:13

any field of human endeavor in anything whether

00:02:13 --> 00:02:16

it's academics whether it's athletics whether it's business

00:02:16 --> 00:02:18

you will find that they are different in

00:02:18 --> 00:02:20

all of their qualities or they might be

00:02:20 --> 00:02:22

different in all of their qualities but one

00:02:22 --> 00:02:24

quality that is shared is the quality of

00:02:24 --> 00:02:30

perseverance they persevere and so when you are

00:02:30 --> 00:02:31

in an encampment one of the most important

00:02:31 --> 00:02:34

qualities that you have is the ability to

00:02:34 --> 00:02:38

just persevere to overcome obstacles that are going

00:02:38 --> 00:02:41

to come your way and allah subhanahu wa

00:02:41 --> 00:02:43

00:02:43 --> 00:02:46

00:02:46 --> 00:02:47

subhanahu wa ta'ala says oh you who

00:02:47 --> 00:02:51

believe have sabr and out sabr the others

00:02:53 --> 00:02:56

be more patient than everybody else and hold

00:02:56 --> 00:02:59

fast and then have taqwa of allah with

00:02:59 --> 00:03:01

all of that have taqwa of allah and

00:03:01 --> 00:03:03

in that you'll be successful so the first

00:03:03 --> 00:03:05

thing is the importance of sabr and then

00:03:05 --> 00:03:08

the issue of how is a person steadfast

00:03:08 --> 00:03:10

upon the truth this is the truth that

00:03:10 --> 00:03:13

we're upon that i mean it sounds silly

00:03:13 --> 00:03:14

that this is a truth that needs to

00:03:14 --> 00:03:16

be declared but that the children of gaza

00:03:16 --> 00:03:19

deserve to live that the women of gaza

00:03:19 --> 00:03:21

deserve to live that the men of gaza

00:03:21 --> 00:03:24

deserve to live that the elderly of gaza

00:03:24 --> 00:03:25

deserve to live and that they all deserve

00:03:25 --> 00:03:29

to live with dignity but how is a

00:03:29 --> 00:03:31

person steadfast and what do we see to

00:03:31 --> 00:03:33

be the causes of steadfastness in the Qur

00:03:33 --> 00:03:35

'an and I'll share with you four quick

00:03:35 --> 00:03:39

points how can a person be steadfast in

00:03:39 --> 00:03:40

a time when people are opposing them how

00:03:40 --> 00:03:42

can a person be steadfast upon the truth

00:03:42 --> 00:03:45

the first thing is to ask it from

00:03:45 --> 00:03:47

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala because Allah is

00:03:47 --> 00:03:49

the ultimate and the greatest cause of steadfastness

00:03:49 --> 00:03:51

in fact Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says

00:03:51 --> 00:03:54

about the Prophet ﷺ himself

00:03:54 --> 00:03:58

Allah

00:03:58 --> 00:04:00

says about the Prophet that if we did

00:04:00 --> 00:04:02

not make you steadfast you might have been

00:04:02 --> 00:04:04

inclined to the mushrikeen a little bit you

00:04:04 --> 00:04:05

might have kind of just you know let

00:04:05 --> 00:04:07

me just negotiate this and negotiate that and

00:04:07 --> 00:04:10

let me you know but Allah subhanahu wa

00:04:10 --> 00:04:11

ta'ala says we made you steadfast and

00:04:11 --> 00:04:13

so recognizing that a person isn't steadfast because

00:04:13 --> 00:04:16

of their own integrity or their own values

00:04:16 --> 00:04:18

or their own strength of character but rather

00:04:18 --> 00:04:19

because it's from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:04:19 --> 00:04:21

so when you're in an encampment like this

00:04:21 --> 00:04:23

you need to be asking Allah subhanahu wa

00:04:23 --> 00:04:25

ta'ala and reminding each other to ask

00:04:25 --> 00:04:27

Allah for steadfastness that's number one number two

00:04:27 --> 00:04:29

is to actually make a lot of dhikr

00:04:29 --> 00:04:29

of Allah.

00:04:30 --> 00:04:32

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sent Musa and

00:04:32 --> 00:04:35

Harun to one of the greatest pirates ever

00:04:35 --> 00:04:37

and that is Fir'aun and he said

00:04:37 --> 00:04:41

00:04:41 --> 00:04:44

Allah says you and your brother go with

00:04:44 --> 00:04:46

my signs and do not be lax in

00:04:46 --> 00:04:49

remembering me the dhikr of Allah strengthens the

00:04:49 --> 00:04:51

body and it strengthens the spirit and so

00:04:51 --> 00:04:54

while you're here

00:04:54 --> 00:04:58

00:04:58 --> 00:05:00

سيد محمد right it strengthens your body and

00:05:00 --> 00:05:02

it strengthens your spirit so that's the second

00:05:02 --> 00:05:05

and that's literally an ingredient that the Prophet

00:05:05 --> 00:05:06

that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave to

00:05:06 --> 00:05:08

Musa and Harun you're going to a tyrant

00:05:08 --> 00:05:09

what should you do make a lot of

00:05:09 --> 00:05:12

dhikr remember me a lot number three is

00:05:12 --> 00:05:14

to make istighfar to seek Allah subhanahu wa

00:05:14 --> 00:05:17

00:05:17 --> 00:05:20

00:05:20 --> 00:05:23

00:05:23 --> 00:05:27

Oh Allah forgive us our sins and forgive

00:05:27 --> 00:05:30

us our transgressions regarding your right and make

00:05:30 --> 00:05:32

our feet steadfast and give us victory over

00:05:32 --> 00:05:36

the disbelieving people and so making istighfar becomes

00:05:36 --> 00:05:38

a source of steadfastness and success and if

00:05:38 --> 00:05:40

you reflect on the last verse of Ali

00:05:40 --> 00:05:43

Imran where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says

00:05:43 --> 00:05:46

00:05:46 --> 00:05:48

I always used to remember

00:05:48 --> 00:05:50

I always used to reflect on and question

00:05:50 --> 00:05:52

why is it that Allah subhanahu wa ta

00:05:52 --> 00:05:56

'ala is asking us to seek forgiveness and

00:05:56 --> 00:05:58

then says you are our protector so grant

00:05:58 --> 00:06:00

us victory over the disbelieving people at the

00:06:00 --> 00:06:05

end of Ali Imran no Ali Imran you're

00:06:05 --> 00:06:06

right Al Baqarah you're right so at the

00:06:06 --> 00:06:09

end of Al Baqarah why is that because

00:06:09 --> 00:06:11

and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows best

00:06:11 --> 00:06:13

there's nothing that causes defeat more than a

00:06:13 --> 00:06:16

person sits there's nothing that causes defeat more

00:06:16 --> 00:06:17

than a person says Omar Ibn Khattab used

00:06:17 --> 00:06:19

to write all over the Muslim world and

00:06:19 --> 00:06:21

he used to say that

00:06:21 --> 00:06:23

السماء he would say to them you are

00:06:23 --> 00:06:24

given victory in the frontiers of the Muslim

00:06:24 --> 00:06:27

lands you say you're given victory because of

00:06:27 --> 00:06:29

the heavens not because of your resources not

00:06:29 --> 00:06:31

because of your strategy not because of your

00:06:31 --> 00:06:34

wit you're given support because of your your

00:06:34 --> 00:06:37

your support from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:06:37 --> 00:06:40

and so securing support from Allah subhanahu wa

00:06:40 --> 00:06:42

ta'ala through istighfar is the greatest and

00:06:42 --> 00:06:45

then the last thing that I'll mention is

00:06:45 --> 00:06:47

by reflecting on the Quran a lot reflecting

00:06:47 --> 00:06:49

on the Quran a lot Allah subhanahu wa

00:06:49 --> 00:06:52

ta'ala mentions that one of the reasons

00:06:52 --> 00:06:54

why the stories of the Prophets in general

00:06:54 --> 00:06:57

was revealed like why do we know the

00:06:57 --> 00:06:58

story of Musa and why do we know

00:06:58 --> 00:06:59

the story of Yunus and why do we

00:06:59 --> 00:07:01

know the story of Yusuf why all of

00:07:01 --> 00:07:03

these stories Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says

00:07:03 --> 00:07:08

00:07:08 --> 00:07:10

Allah says we have revealed to

00:07:10 --> 00:07:12

you the stories of the Prophets that which

00:07:12 --> 00:07:18

will give your heart firmness it gives you

00:07:18 --> 00:07:20

resolve and so the stories of the Prophets

00:07:20 --> 00:07:22

gives us resolve you see that Rasul Allah

00:07:22 --> 00:07:25

ﷺ was expelled from his city the Prophet

00:07:25 --> 00:07:30

ﷺ was outcasted Musa was outcasted Ibrahim ﷺ

00:07:30 --> 00:07:32

was outcasted they stood upon the truth they

00:07:32 --> 00:07:34

stood alone at times they were ostracized at

00:07:34 --> 00:07:36

times they were mocked at times they were

00:07:36 --> 00:07:39

belittled at time they were considered to be

00:07:39 --> 00:07:42

insignificant at times you see how the wicked

00:07:42 --> 00:07:47

maneuvered as well and so that gives the

00:07:47 --> 00:07:49

person resolve that they know that I am

00:07:49 --> 00:07:51

walking a path that was walked before me

00:07:51 --> 00:07:53

and I know that at the end of

00:07:53 --> 00:07:56

the day العاقب لجن التقير that the people

00:07:56 --> 00:07:58

of taqwa are the ones who win and

00:07:58 --> 00:08:01

so these are our four quick points may

00:08:01 --> 00:08:03

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala bless you and

00:08:03 --> 00:08:06

bless everybody who participated in building this encampment

00:08:06 --> 00:08:08

and supporting it and may Allah subhanahu wa

00:08:08 --> 00:08:09

ta'ala give us all a reason to

00:08:09 --> 00:08:13

be proud when we meet him inshallah
