given by the prophet sallallahu alaihi sallam in

the famous Hadith of Gabriel.

One of the meanings of this Hadith

is that the modern West was born from

Islam,

that Europe in the late antique

was sunk in the dark ages.

Violence, disease, ignorance was rampant,

and it was Europe's contact

with Islam's intellectual tradition

that begot Western civilization

and brought them out of the dark ages.

And then the West turned around and colonized

and subjugated its mother, as it were.

The point is knowledge is at the centrality

of our tradition.
