Ali Albarghouthi – Heart Therapy 7 – Hadith

Ali Albarghouthi
AI: Summary ©
The conversation covers the history and transformation of older people into new age, with the belief that older people are more likely to be affected by the age. The importance of embracing and using the "has" of Islam to achieve success in life is emphasized, along with the need to hold onto permanent life and not give up. The conversation also touches on the importance of limiting one's hope and finding one's way to achieve their goals, particularly in the face of loss of beauty and desire to stay alive.

Swing in Al Hamdulillah Muhammad who want to stay in who want to stay on our Villa Himanshu Rory unforseen our see Dr. Marina Maja de la Vela ob La La, la vida de la la, la la la la la la la la sharika wash. Mohammed Abu Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam rubeus Sylvania Karim Allah hola Nakuru when I was a Killa Nana fuson era bellami.

00:00:34 --> 00:00:37

So the seventh Hadeeth insha Allah for tonight.

00:00:38 --> 00:00:41

And this hadith

00:00:43 --> 00:00:53

is sort of linked it definitely linked to the last Hadith that we talked about shall let me read the Hadith and describe the link and then proceed with the explanation of the Hadith.

00:00:55 --> 00:01:07

Here hear which is reported by both Bukhari and Muslim Colonel Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam kulbhushan C sharp Boone, Allah has nothing to do hayati.

00:01:09 --> 00:01:27

kulbhushan, Tisha bonaga hobbiton, attaining total hierarchy we're hoping that it's a short Heidi, is that the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, the heart of the old man or the older man is young in its love of two things, long life and love of wealth.

00:01:28 --> 00:01:33

So the heart of the older man is still young.

00:01:34 --> 00:01:40

And it's young in love for two things, love for longer life, and also love the money

00:01:41 --> 00:01:43

I was afforded by the audience.

00:01:44 --> 00:01:46

So in the last Hadees,

00:01:48 --> 00:01:52

we learned about the rich heart and the poor heart If you remember,

00:01:53 --> 00:02:35

what makes a heart for and what makes the heart rich. And we said whether a heart is rich and poor, whatever happens outside the heart with the dunya is not the source of its happiness, or it's not the source of its sadness. But the source of its happiness and sadness lies within the heart itself. And its relationship with Allah subhanho wa Taala. That's what we said. And that's really very important. We're not saying that the heart doesn't need anything but what it has inside. No, it needs a last panel with Allah. But when it has a lot inside, it becomes a rich heart. And when it's devoid and empty of Allah, it's a poor heart. So in this Hadith, it tells us what happens to that

00:02:35 --> 00:02:36

poor heart.

00:02:37 --> 00:03:04

When it progresses in age, it is attached already to the dunya. Right, it is attached to the dunya. What happens to it as it progresses in age is that its attachment to dounia increases, even though the body weakens the body ages, right? Even though the body ages advances in age, but the heart doesn't advance in age in the same way.

00:03:05 --> 00:03:18

So this hadith Subhana, Allah is telling us that as far as the process of aging is concerned, body and heart have different trajectories, different paths, they don't age in the same way.

00:03:19 --> 00:03:26

They age differently. That's why you can have a young heart inside an old body

00:03:27 --> 00:03:29

or an old heart inside a young body.

00:03:31 --> 00:03:37

Right. So in this body that is telling you that it's not aging in the same way.

00:03:38 --> 00:03:47

But the heart ages differently, and the way that it looks and the way that it's attached. It has a different sort of plane than the plane of the body.

00:03:49 --> 00:03:52

So let's for that, let's talk a little bit about aging.

00:03:55 --> 00:03:59

And one of the most inconvenient facts of this life is that we age

00:04:01 --> 00:04:07

one of the most disturbing facts in this life for humanity is that we age

00:04:08 --> 00:04:52

and a lot of us don't think about it and you know this like thinking about it, especially when we are younger. We're not concerned with any of that. Because this is something that happens to other people but not us. We say to ourselves, I'm still young, I have my whole life ahead of me thinking about aging and getting old and death and you know, gray hair. Well this is gonna happen decades and decades from now. I'll think about it later. So whenever this talk about death and getting ready for it comes up. This seems to be for someone else but me. Right? So somebody else, let the old worry about it. I'm young, right? I'm still in my teens. I'm still in my 20s I'm still in my 30s let

00:04:52 --> 00:04:54

somebody else worry about it.

00:04:55 --> 00:04:58

But now me that's what we tell ourselves

00:04:59 --> 00:04:59

but the thing

00:05:00 --> 00:05:04

Is that really your age sneaks up on you.

00:05:06 --> 00:05:10

And before you know it, you've reached middle age.

00:05:12 --> 00:05:25

You're occupied, we're distracted. We're in our 20s. We're very busy with this and that we're in our 30s and busy with this. And before we know it, we've reached middle age. And then we wake up to this fact.

00:05:26 --> 00:05:39

And it surprises us. Yeah, we anticipate Yeah, I'm getting closer. I'm 30 I'm bummed out, you know, I'm 30. What, what did I do in my life? Then we forget about that. But when you really reached middle age, it really disturbs you.

00:05:40 --> 00:05:42

And it strikes us all of a sudden.

00:05:44 --> 00:05:54

And this reminds me of something that Mr. Mohammed Rahim Allah said, he said, Masha, Bathsheba, Illa, Vichy in Kenya, if you could meet.

00:05:56 --> 00:06:09

It said, youth is nothing more like something that I had in my sleeve. Because they used to carry things in their sleeves, no pockets using their sleeves, something that I carried in my sleeve, then I lost it.

00:06:11 --> 00:06:22

Right? So you know how you go out maybe to the market or with your family, and you have something on you. And you walk in walk? And then you look for it? And what did it go? It dropped it? I lost?

00:06:23 --> 00:06:29

That like that. That's what he's saying. That's what Shabbat is. Youth is like, you think you have it?

00:06:31 --> 00:06:37

Then you think that you're gonna always have and then all of a sudden you lose it? And then where did it go? I don't know.

00:06:38 --> 00:06:40

That's the surprise that hits us.

00:06:42 --> 00:06:59

And when we reach middle age with that type of surprise, we begin then to ponder and contemplate, because then we go back to our life and say, I had all of these goals. And I had all of these dreams and all of these plans, and I'm going to be the king of the world, right? I'm going to accomplish all of these things. And all of this is going to happen for me.

00:07:01 --> 00:07:06

But then now you review right, you review your life. And you find out.

00:07:07 --> 00:07:08

Well, that was disappointing.

00:07:09 --> 00:07:12

All of these things that I wanted to do, and none of them are have happened.

00:07:13 --> 00:07:35

And now I'm supposed to be middle aged. And now I'm supposed to be gray. And I'm supposed to be and then because of these expectations that you've had, and I have, and because they go unfulfilled and then you look forward, you look forward, right? And you say what has remained in my life is probably less than what had passed. What do I have left? Death

00:07:37 --> 00:07:49

and nothingness. And I'm gonna leave all these beautiful things that I worked so hard to collect my house in my car and my degrees and all of this what it what does it mean? If I'm going to end up dying.

00:07:51 --> 00:07:57

And when you collect all of this, you end up with a midlife crisis.

00:07:58 --> 00:08:26

you experience a midlife crisis, and it's common to experience midlife crises. And it's when you panic, panic because what's gonna lie ahead, death and old age and loss, loss of people that you love loss of your own power, your own faculties, I'm gonna hear less, I'm going to see less My health is going to go away my power abilities are going to go away. Loss of money.

00:08:27 --> 00:08:48

And also looking back at your life and missed opportunities. And that's when we start reacting to it. Right? Sometimes by depression, sometimes by acting inappropriately, but we react to it, right? by a semi have just listened recently to a person non Muslim, semi semi famous.

00:08:49 --> 00:09:16

And they were saying that I have a crisis they are in their 40s he says I have a crisis in my life. And this person has everything right has fame and has wealth and has, they can go anywhere, right? And they can see anybody that they want to see. They say I have a crisis in my life and the person asked them why do you have what what do you have to complain about? In a poor right? You're not sick? You know, you have a family? What do you have to complain about? He says death.

00:09:18 --> 00:09:19

I don't want to die.

00:09:20 --> 00:09:30

I don't want to turn into dust. And I don't know what lies ahead. I have no idea what lies ahead. So that's what happens, right? When we age

00:09:31 --> 00:09:42

and we reach that particular point. But I want to say that in the Quran, Allah subhana wa Allah doesn't treat it like that. right in the eye and sort of Allah Hakuna Allah says

00:09:45 --> 00:09:59

in a Sunnah Hello biasanya Anushka Rania matar, Cala T and Antonio otherworldy do an AMA Dasani hantuchova was the head if you don't really need to eneko Indian and Muslim. He says when the human being reaches

00:10:00 --> 00:10:05

His strength, by an age of strength will become strong.

00:10:06 --> 00:10:28

And he reaches 40 years of age, he will say, Allah give me the power to thank you for the number that you've bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I would have the power to do good things that you are happy with, and protects and fix my progeny for me, indeed, I have repented unto you, and I am of the Muslims.

00:10:29 --> 00:10:40

You see, the reaction is different. It's not a reaction of panic, and regrets, right? It's not a reaction of depression.

00:10:41 --> 00:11:11

But it's a reaction of saying, Yeah, Allah, you've given me so much so far, because this person that alas panatela is talking about his heart is attached to Allah and not the dunya. That's the difference. When your heart is attached to the needy, you will panic when you're about to lose it. Because all of you haven't been invested in the dunya. All of your time, all of your energy, right? All of your accomplishments are in the dunya. So when you tell a person that you're going to leave the only home that you have known, the only home that you've loved.

00:11:13 --> 00:11:17

You say Where? Where am I going to go? Then he panics.

00:11:18 --> 00:11:24

So as sort of as a prohibited hammer, I'm all alone. He was asked, why do we hate death so much.

00:11:25 --> 00:11:39

And he said, because you've built your worldly life, and beautified it. And neglected, you're here after. So you hate you hate to leave what you've built and beautified and go to a ruin

00:11:42 --> 00:11:52

a place that you don't love to inhabit because it's not beautiful. So all of your beauty is here. So when you tell a person I'm going to leave this is I can't leave everything that I love.

00:11:55 --> 00:12:26

But with this person in the last panel data is talking about no is saying Yeah, Allah, my heart is with you. My focus is on you. My intent and goal is to be in the hereafter where you are pleased with me. So this is a jury that I'm going towards ooyala. So when I reach out and look at everything that Allah has given to me, and thank Allah for it, give me this name and this name and this name, no regrets. No sorry, Allah give me so much. So thank you for it and keep giving me more.

00:12:27 --> 00:13:10

And he thanks a lot for the money given to his parents and also for the number of his children and helped me on my path so that I can reach you. So this becomes a pivotal moment in our journey to jury to Allah subhanho wa Taala one of our milestones is to reach that that particular age, it's not something to run away from, it's not something to dread and fear. It's actually something to embrace and use. Because you're going to meet it anyway. To embrace and actually use as a transition towards Allah subhana wa tada Abdullah knew that the high mala said hi to him, he reports about the people that live before and can head to home either. In Santa Paula theological.

00:13:11 --> 00:13:29

He said one of them used to be that when he reaches the year or the age of 40, he would fold his mattress. Right? If you you know, in some countries till today, they still do that, right? They have a mattress on the floor. And when you're done sleeping, what do you do? You fold the mattress

00:13:30 --> 00:14:02

because you need the space. Right? Not only for countries which countries are but the space is limited, you fold the mattress. So he's saying it's the same thing for the rational with the folder mattress meaning that they stopped sleeping or they sleep less and they concentrated more on the worship of Allah subhanho wa Taala so it was a transition a time of transition where you say to yourself, I'm getting closer to Allah subhana wa Tada. That's the time where you're maturity, mental maturity, right emotional maturity and also physical maturity, all of them meet together.

00:14:04 --> 00:14:45

And the foolishness of young age is behind. So you say okay, now I am heading with more wisdom towards Allah subhanho wa Taala. And no wonder then, that the prophets of Allah, including Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, what age they receive their first revelation and become prophets for at the age of 40. And most of the other prophets or all of them also received it at that age. So it tells you that's an age of transformation. It's it's a beginning, not an age of and those of how long 14 but just you know, that's it for me. No, it's an age of transformation and the prophets of Allah were saying, Now change yourself and change your entire society when they weren't,

00:14:45 --> 00:14:46

they were 14.

00:14:48 --> 00:14:59

So that gives you renewed hope that you're not just looking at this dunya you're looking at the hereafter you don't measure your age by this dunya but you measure it actually, but you're able to accomplish

00:15:00 --> 00:15:03

For the sake of Allah subhana wa tada in the hereafter.

00:15:05 --> 00:15:46

Now, something on the side here that I think is important that one of the reasons you know a lot of people are also afraid of old age is because we have we put it down in popular culture, we really put getting old down. We ridicule the elderly, we make fun of them, like comedians and such right? Or they can't hear or they can't see how it's funny. And it's funny, right? Oh, they are so irrelevant, or they're so behind. They don't understand technology, this, so we ridicule, we make fun of them. So of course, when this is the image that we have, in our minds, right of getting old, you don't want to be that person. You want to be as young as you can, you're going to hold to it

00:15:46 --> 00:16:26

because you don't want to be the object, object of ridicule. You don't want to be made fun of. So that's happens in Western culture, at least pockets of Western culture. And that's not how our attitude should be with getting old and with the elderly. You know, I'll give you just a couple of studies from the Prophet sallallahu Sallam just so that we will adjust the attitude. So in one of them, it says that an old man wanted to come and see the profits of the law. He was cinnamon, people were sitting around the profit, right? So they failed to give him space, right to clear space so that he can come closer to the Prophet sallallahu sallam. So the Prophet said, lay seven millimeter

00:16:26 --> 00:16:38

Hansel zerona, what am you up to me? And it says the one of us or he's not one of us, if he does not have mercy towards the young among us, and respect our elders.

00:16:40 --> 00:17:03

Right. So this is your attitude towards other people. If you are to be a Muslim, it says towards the young, you have to be merciful and kind. They need that from you. How about the elderly, he says respect, right and esteem. So whenever you see someone who's older than you are, even by months, maybe or even a couple of years, he's older than you, then that person deserves what respect.

00:17:05 --> 00:17:19

And if he's younger than they, he deserves what mercy and kindness from us. And another Hadith from the Prophet sallallahu Sallam he says and Baraka to mcabee recoome. He says Baraka, you will find Baraka with your elders.

00:17:20 --> 00:17:38

Right? blessings, you will find it with your elders because with your elders, they have the wisdom they have that they have that proximity to Allah subhana wa to Allah. So, when you want to consult when you want to talk when you want us we want blessing in your life, seek it with your elders, right consult with your elders.

00:17:40 --> 00:17:41

So

00:17:43 --> 00:17:49

moving from Asia, I want to talk inshallah, about hope, because this hadith hadith of tonight

00:17:51 --> 00:17:56

is significant in teaching us something about how much hope we should have, and where should we happen.

00:17:58 --> 00:18:00

Hope I want to say and suggest to you tonight

00:18:02 --> 00:18:05

is about holding on to the permanent.

00:18:07 --> 00:18:24

That's what I want to really emphasize. Whatever we hope, like what really underlies all of our hopes, is that we want to hold on to permanence and fight off and avoid decay and loss. That's really what everything we hoped for is.

00:18:25 --> 00:18:37

And if you want to prove for that and prove that really every human being wants permanence, you go back to the first human being that Allah Subhana Allah created, which is Adam Allison.

00:18:39 --> 00:18:47

So Allah tells us in the Quran that it believes is so angry with Adam now he wants to take him away, sway him.

00:18:48 --> 00:19:05

I misguidance What does he say to him? This is the forbidden tree. What is he Satanism? Kalia? mohalla? Do Luca Allah shadow to hold the monkey Diabla? It says Adam, shall I not direct you to the tree of eternal life

00:19:07 --> 00:19:10

and a kingship or a possession that will never end?

00:19:14 --> 00:19:17

employees understood Adam very well.

00:19:18 --> 00:19:35

And that's what he does with us. And I explained that before right? It leads right right or the shaytan in general, right? He studies you he understands he understands your emotions. And so he studied Adam, he understood Adam and he knew that Adam wanted to live forever in general.

00:19:36 --> 00:19:43

So you understand from the last panel that he did not tell Adam you're going to be living forever in general. Otherwise, why would he believe 1010

00:19:44 --> 00:19:59

if at least we'll get him to come and tell him this? He said no, Allah promised me already I don't need to eat from this tree. So Allah did not tell him you're going to live forever in general. Adam wanted it. So please came he swore by Allah subhana wa Tada. And he said, I will tell you how you can attain it.

00:20:00 --> 00:20:08

Life in this paradise it from this tree. And Adam believed him. Why did he come to them from that particular point, because he knew that Adam wanted this is the most.

00:20:10 --> 00:20:11

That's what as an item's weakness,

00:20:13 --> 00:20:27

he wanted that the most. And that's why he was able to trick out and tempt him to eat from that tree. And from the time of Adam and Instagram till the time of less the last human being will be on this earth. This is the thing that we want

00:20:28 --> 00:20:29

permanent life.

00:20:30 --> 00:20:43

We hate impermanence. We don't want death. We want permanent life. Right? As I said before, I mean, nothing disturbs us. Rather than saying to us, you're going to lose this thing.

00:20:44 --> 00:20:50

A wonderful Mashallah a new car, I am the happiest person on this earth. But are you going to lose it okay? On the satisfaction right now?

00:20:51 --> 00:21:20

Because I'm going to lose it. And so none of our happiness can continue and can be sustained when you tell us that we're going to lose this thing. And you child, what are you going to lose it or you may lose it. I'll be terrified for the rest of my life, as a lot of mothers and fathers are right. Just not tell me that I may lose my child, never none. And that I just don't want to think about it. that terrifies. It really terrifies us, because we don't want to lose anything that we love. So we want permanence. We want all the things that we love, but we want them forever.

00:21:22 --> 00:21:23

But where is this going to happen?

00:21:25 --> 00:21:25

in general.

00:21:27 --> 00:21:38

And what is so interesting here is that the shaytan came to Adam and he told him do this. And you will get permanent life. He did that. And he loved

00:21:39 --> 00:21:40

the opposite of what he wanted.

00:21:42 --> 00:22:10

At least if I didn't listen to a police a police, I would stay here. I don't know if I'll have permanent life, but at least I will stay here. I listened to you and I lost, the best thing that I had is same thing, the same trait of the shaytan they will come to us and say oh you want permanent life or you want to live more, earn more money. Just think about that or more money. Immerse yourself in this life. And that is the same thing and the very thing that will deprive you of

00:22:11 --> 00:22:24

eternal life in Paradise is it will take you away from Allah subhana wa Tada. So you want to turn a T or eternal life you have to attach yourself and be close to Allah when you are away from him, you lose it.

00:22:25 --> 00:22:29

When you listen to the shaitaan and his whispers, this is the way that you can get it.

00:22:30 --> 00:22:38

This hold on to this life hold on to this life hold on to this life. That is the same prescription that will make you lose it and me lose it if we listen to him.

00:22:41 --> 00:22:45

And there is no question there is no question that this life is really tempting.

00:22:47 --> 00:22:49

It's really beautiful.

00:22:50 --> 00:23:25

I don't even have to tell you I don't even have to bring evidence to tell you that this life is really beautiful. Right? In the Hadith, the Prophet says hello, welcome. Hello. It's sweet and you know good looking this life. That's how he described it's a lot of us in them. Right? It's money right? It's it's pleasures, it's travel. It's a woman it's drinks and it's food and you can just move from one beautiful thing to the other one beautiful thing to the other. Right? And the loss of Hannah what the artist is doing naseeha Boucher desires have made very big they had been made very beautiful to humanity.

00:23:26 --> 00:23:29

Right had been made been made very beautiful to humanity.

00:23:31 --> 00:23:44

You know, to the extent that in the Hadith, that Allah Allah subhana wa tada surrounds Hellfire with temptations, and gibreel goes and sees it and this is an angel who has seen what's inside hellfire.

00:23:46 --> 00:23:56

And he says after we had seen the temptations after * around Hellfire, he says, I am now afraid that no one will be safe from it because of how beautiful these temptations are.

00:23:57 --> 00:24:01

And everybody will be attracted to them and from that will drop in hellfire.

00:24:03 --> 00:24:06

So it was it was made been made very beautiful.

00:24:07 --> 00:24:08

But that is

00:24:09 --> 00:24:15

the test that Allah subhana wa tada had made in a Jana out of the Xena De La Nina

00:24:18 --> 00:24:19

au Masson Amara.

00:24:20 --> 00:24:36

We had made what is on this earth, a beauty something of beauty, so that we will test them which among them has the best of these and both we are going to receive a promise from Allah subhanho wa Taala and a promise from the shapefile

00:24:38 --> 00:24:39

you're receiving two promises.

00:24:41 --> 00:24:54

One that comes from Allah subhana wa tada and one that comes from the shape and Allah says, Yeah, you unless we know at the lighthouse, all people the promise of a lie is the promise that is true. Don't believe the promise of the shape bond.

00:24:59 --> 00:24:59

Don't let this

00:25:00 --> 00:25:18

attempt to undo a phantom attempt to and delude you. He's just lying to you thinking that if you just invest and think about this life, you will get what you want. That's the promise of the Shakedown. The promise of Allah is that you listen to me and you will go to heaven, the promise of the shaitaan you will listen to me you will get everything you want, but in this life,

00:25:19 --> 00:25:23

then you have a choice to be made, which of the two

00:25:24 --> 00:25:25

you're going to believe.

00:25:27 --> 00:25:35

And Subhanallah you will find that the person who believes in the promise of Allah Subhana Allah to Allah as we said, his heart will be attached

00:25:36 --> 00:25:38

to the hereafter more than dystonia.

00:25:39 --> 00:25:43

His hope will be greater in the hereafter more than in dystonia.

00:25:45 --> 00:25:58

But the other person, the other category of people who are listened to the promise of the shaytaan the greater hope will be in this dunya than in the Hereafter, and they would not want to leave this dunya

00:26:00 --> 00:26:03

as Allah Subhana Allah says about some of the non believers in the Quran

00:26:05 --> 00:26:06

what I said you didn't

00:26:08 --> 00:26:11

see either hayati wamena Lavina Shaku

00:26:12 --> 00:26:15

Yeah, what do I how do I know you're an alpha Santa.

00:26:19 --> 00:26:24

So it's the heart of the Kava, the non believer that is empty.

00:26:25 --> 00:26:30

And when the heart is empty, it has to attach to something. It has to love something.

00:26:31 --> 00:26:33

It has to find a house for itself.

00:26:34 --> 00:26:35

Right?

00:26:36 --> 00:26:49

So what house will I find for myself? If it's not Jenna? What attachments will I have? If it's not Alice Hanlon with the Anna, what hope will I have, if it's not the hope of meeting Allah, all of that will be in this life.

00:26:50 --> 00:26:58

So the thing that I hate the most is leaving it and Allah says about them, you will find them most eager to stay in this life.

00:26:59 --> 00:27:05

Even more than the pantheist Allah is talking about some of the People of the Book even more than the polytheist they will love this life.

00:27:06 --> 00:27:10

To the extent that they would want to live there for 1000 years.

00:27:11 --> 00:27:16

But even if they live for 1000 years, that is not going to save them from the punishment of our last panel.

00:27:19 --> 00:27:22

There is and this is really something that is really revealing about this dunya

00:27:24 --> 00:27:24

we want to live

00:27:26 --> 00:27:28

so Allah is telling you how long can you live?

00:27:30 --> 00:27:46

100 years is the maximum really that we can live the prophets of Allah Allah He will send them says, the ages of my alma mater Alma Team avena City No sir no aluminio juicer delicacies, the ages of my own, on average, are between 60 and 70. Few of them live longer than that.

00:27:48 --> 00:27:59

Now you can hope with advances in science and better care, maybe I'll live to 80 or so maybe 100. A few really, like have good genes, right? I'm alive essence that you live, you can maybe live to 100.

00:28:00 --> 00:28:01

But then you have to die.

00:28:03 --> 00:28:09

Then Allah tells you Okay, suppose that you live for 200 years, he lives you suppose if you live for 500 years.

00:28:11 --> 00:28:13

Suppose you live for 1000 years.

00:28:14 --> 00:28:20

As long as long as you know how to live, what happened to my cat today.

00:28:21 --> 00:28:48

Even 1000 years are going to end 2000 years are going to end. This life was not built for eternal living was not designed like that. It's going to end no matter how, no matter how long you live on it. So you're going to lose this life. So what benefit does it bring you to the 4000 years of ultimately you're going to meet the punishment of Allah subhana wa Tada. That's what's going to happen. So rather than really cling to the slough and say, I want to live as long as I can in it.

00:28:50 --> 00:29:01

Say to yourself, I want to really invest in the next life so that when I die, and I will die, I can live for eternity, happy for eternity satisfied

00:29:02 --> 00:29:05

for eternity, not in need of anything.

00:29:08 --> 00:29:12

So the heart that is distracted of this life is the heart of an unbeliever.

00:29:14 --> 00:29:19

The heart of the week was slammed with a week a man does not have a person who is distracted by this life.

00:29:20 --> 00:29:22

Allah says about them. They're homier.

00:29:27 --> 00:29:27

Let them

00:29:28 --> 00:29:33

let them eat and let them drink and let them be distracted by false hope they will know.

00:29:34 --> 00:29:35

They will know.

00:29:36 --> 00:29:45

Right? I like to eat this and that's what I'm worried about. I like to drink that and that's what I'm worried about. I'm tomorrow I want to do this. And tomorrow I want to do that.

00:29:47 --> 00:29:55

distract yourself with it. Keep distracting yourself with it. Allah subhanho wa Taala saying because you're gonna wake up rudely to the fact that now My life is done.

00:29:57 --> 00:29:59

So one of the things that this hadith is origin has

00:30:00 --> 00:30:06

to do is limit your hope in this life, what you expect out of it limited?

00:30:07 --> 00:30:10

And don't expect that you can live a long life.

00:30:11 --> 00:30:20

You may end up living a long life, but what do you expect what type of Hope you have? Don't expect that you're going to live for a long time. Don't do that. That is good.

00:30:22 --> 00:30:23

That is total amateur.

00:30:25 --> 00:30:30

Here, there's a nice incident here in Mohammed Nabi Toba says.

00:30:32 --> 00:30:40

A person named model he said he called the karma for the sada and he called this person Mohammed, he says you lead, as he said.

00:30:43 --> 00:31:07

So Mohammed says, To him, it seems to be like he's pushing him Go ahead, leave the salon leave the solar. So he says, you know, in a month to complete it. So that dilemma, he says, If I will lead you in the salon only to another salon. If I'm the mom now, I'm not going to be the mom of the other salon. So what is he said, tells him, he says wanted to have the throne of soccer on to Sunday. So that and Oprah

00:31:08 --> 00:31:11

told me in Ohio lamina.

00:31:13 --> 00:31:17

He says, and you're telling yourself that you're going to live till the next Salah?

00:31:19 --> 00:31:25

How do we learn from having such an extended hole? Because indeed, it wastes the best of deeds?

00:31:26 --> 00:31:26

Right.

00:31:27 --> 00:31:31

So it was to that extent, to that extent,

00:31:33 --> 00:31:52

you know, you hear some of the you know, Imam sometimes remind you pray as if it's your last, that's what he's saying. But actually, he's applying it saying to himself, no, you actually prayed. This is the last issue of prayer, I'm going to pray I'm not going to reach you. If you really believe that, you will see how you pressure.

00:31:53 --> 00:31:59

But actually believe that this is, this is it, this is the last slide that I'm going to have, you will see how you will pressure,

00:32:00 --> 00:32:09

how much you will see in your suit and how much you've seen in your code. This is the last time that I'm going to be speaking to a last panel without the insula on the face of this earth. You go ahead and pray

00:32:11 --> 00:32:27

and as he says the impact of having such an extended tap of hope that it miss it forces your sort of it forces you compels you to waste time, because he will say, Yeah, I did wasted but next next Salah.

00:32:28 --> 00:32:35

Yeah, maybe I didn't do it right today, tomorrow, next week, the week after. So there is this this week, there is this delay.

00:32:36 --> 00:32:48

But if you say that I'm going to die, tonight, I'm going to die this morning, there is no other time for you to do what he was supposed to do. It's now or never. So you will do your best not.

00:32:50 --> 00:33:02

Not at an imagined point in the future. That's what this week or sort of delaying repentance is all about. That's an imagined point in the future where you will say to yourself, I'll be good, then

00:33:04 --> 00:33:06

everything will be fine, then

00:33:07 --> 00:33:08

I'll fix myself.

00:33:10 --> 00:33:12

And it's always a point in when I get married.

00:33:13 --> 00:33:20

That is gonna fix everything in my life. Go and as the married people have that fix everything in their life, maybe for some but did it?

00:33:22 --> 00:33:38

No, this is not you know, putting it down. I'm saying that every phase in its life brings with it its extra responsibilities. When I get my job when I when I want to graduate from school, get my job, settle down. Go ask people who just got jobs if that really helped.

00:33:39 --> 00:33:50

Right? When I have my first child, yeah, good luck with that. You know, when they graduate when when when it's always when when when, when Why? Because you live that you think you're going to live till then

00:33:51 --> 00:33:54

you think that you're going to live and that ruins the heart.

00:33:55 --> 00:34:06

What happens to the heart is that you begin to neglect Allah commands, because they are later Later later. And the heart becomes hitless. There's God's law, right the house sleeps

00:34:07 --> 00:34:08

and becomes stiff and hard.

00:34:09 --> 00:34:13

Because it's later later Later, and it's not responding. The heart is not responding.

00:34:15 --> 00:34:22

No, if you believe that you're going to die, now, your heart will wake up. It will be alive and will listen.

00:34:23 --> 00:34:29

And here is a statement from an evening of the Allahu Allah. He says in

00:34:30 --> 00:34:35

equals nothing to do with Emily What about our family, man?

00:34:41 --> 00:34:50

He says the things that I fear most for you are two things. This is the statement from Allah even if you find it. The first is having hope that he will live for a long time.

00:34:52 --> 00:35:00

And the other one is following our following desire as for having extended hope it will make you for

00:35:00 --> 00:35:01

Get about the hereafter.

00:35:03 --> 00:35:05

Your focus is all about the dunya.

00:35:07 --> 00:35:09

I'm collecting because I'm going to build my house.

00:35:11 --> 00:35:14

I'm collecting this a story that somebody tells me.

00:35:15 --> 00:35:51

He says that somebody came and he wanted to manufacture a bed is an awesome country manufacturer, but to build that from scratch. So he goes to that bed manufacturer, and he said, I want it to be from this particular word, this particular design. And he says, Every time he changes his mind, and he wants it to be the best of the best, the best wood, the best bedding, right? The best of everything. And he says it took us months, right? It took us months to find what he wants months to make it. And we keep asking him come and pick it up, come and pick it up because it's expensive. He says, Okay, okay, I'm coming, come, we're gonna come. Then he calls the family and he says, if

00:35:51 --> 00:35:57

you're not going to come and pick it up, I'm going to drop it in your hole is expensive. He says that

00:35:59 --> 00:36:00

he's there.

00:36:01 --> 00:36:26

So if you think about it this way that anything that I'm collecting everything that I'm collecting, I may not have the opportunity to enjoy it, you will look at it differently. If this man was actually told, right, that particular bed that you were manufacturing for yourself, you're not going to see it, you're not going to use it. What do you have spent all that time all that money on it or not? Or what are the priorities change?

00:36:28 --> 00:36:43

It doesn't mean of course, whether you're not supposed to enjoy anything in this life. But when you think that your death might be imminent, and in fact it could be imminent, you will change your priorities, what you spend your time

00:36:44 --> 00:36:47

what you invest in, all of that changes

00:36:48 --> 00:36:56

and in a hurry. Numero Uno says after a famous Hadith he says either unsafe Allah subhanho

00:36:58 --> 00:37:06

wa holdeman statically model decoding hierarchical haemolytic He says, When you reach the evening, don't wait for the morning.

00:37:08 --> 00:37:10

Don't tell yourself I will live till the morning

00:37:11 --> 00:37:13

says this is my night when I will die.

00:37:14 --> 00:37:16

And when you reach the morning, don't wait for the evening

00:37:18 --> 00:37:26

will have been so hectic and moderately thick. Take advantage of your health before you are sick and take advantage of your life before you die.

00:37:27 --> 00:37:33

Now how can you take advantage of your life before you die? If you always think you're going to be living.

00:37:36 --> 00:37:55

This can only happen if you tell yourself my death is close. And it's going to happen. Now take advantage of it. Only then will you be able to take advantage of your life on this earth. And only then will you be ready. That one day comes is not going to surprise you as much

00:37:57 --> 00:38:11

as some of the sellers have said about someone else he said located Allah in Nakata, mucho cada lasagna, see the family. If he were to be told, you're going to die tomorrow, he would not be able to do anything extra.

00:38:13 --> 00:38:17

That he has done everything that he can he's doing everything that he can.

00:38:18 --> 00:38:27

If one sceptical user would come to tell him not your death is going to come to mores that there will be no time, no place for him to add anything extra he already had filled everything.

00:38:28 --> 00:38:30

So this is how we prepare ourselves

00:38:31 --> 00:38:34

for the next life by having

00:38:36 --> 00:38:53

a hope that our life or I will hope that our life is not going to be long. If it is this is an AMA from Allah subhanho wa Taala. But as my, as far as my hope is, as far as my expectation is, my life is going to be short. And it could end tonight. It can can end in the morning.

00:38:55 --> 00:38:56

Now what helps us

00:38:57 --> 00:39:03

understand this is that all of our hope, right?

00:39:04 --> 00:39:15

Or a lot of our hope and the things that we hope for, we're not going to live to see. And this is a fact our hope extends our mn extends beyond our lifespan.

00:39:18 --> 00:39:36

And this is if you've seen the video that I posted on Facebook, that's why I posted it. The Prophet sallallahu Sallam has a hadith and I'll try and Chatelet to explain it explain it. He drew on the sand a diagram he drew on the sand a square right so square

00:39:37 --> 00:39:44

and he drew inside that square a line that is inside the square but extends all the way outside of that square.

00:39:45 --> 00:39:50

And then to the top and bottom of that line that's in the middle of the square. There are smaller lines.

00:39:51 --> 00:39:59

So you have the square. You have that long line coming from inside the square and exiting and then small lines that are on the side of that

00:40:00 --> 00:40:09

Where, and he says, this square is one's destiny. This is your life or your destiny that surrounds you.

00:40:10 --> 00:40:15

That part of that line that is inside this square is your life.

00:40:16 --> 00:40:20

The part of that line that is outside of that square, this is your hope.

00:40:21 --> 00:40:27

So you see, you hear the Prophet sallallahu wasallam is say, your hope extends way beyond your lifespan.

00:40:29 --> 00:40:51

Right? Because that, that square is your destiny, this is your life. And the line that is inside, this is your life inside of it. But you're always looking for more always looking for more, but this comes and stops, right? That's the end of that square. And what lies beyond that line that lies beyond that square, that's your hope.

00:40:52 --> 00:40:55

And he says these small lines that are inside the square, these are

00:40:56 --> 00:41:17

the afflictions and the tests. If one misses you, the other one won't. So this is our life. And this dunya we are between this test and that test, this anxiety and that hardship, this is always what's going to be like we have done in the ultra, there's a lot of good in it. But this life is also filled with tests.

00:41:18 --> 00:41:25

But look at our hope, it always lies beyond always ahead, always looking for something.

00:41:26 --> 00:41:28

Even when we reach old age,

00:41:30 --> 00:41:33

even when we reach old age. Now you expect

00:41:34 --> 00:41:44

maybe with a person who has reached old age, right, would relinquish right would give up their hope in a long life, he would not desire it anymore.

00:41:45 --> 00:42:06

Do not hold on dearly to it would not love money, so more. But the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is saying that this is not the case, at least for most people. This is not the case. For some, it will be that they said I don't want to live anymore. Right. But he's saying that for most people, this is not the case. Why?

00:42:07 --> 00:42:25

Because we have nurtured and cultivated the love of this life in our hearts for all of our life. And this is the thing that we know. And this is the thing that we love the most. And now that we are closer to the end, and know that we are closer to the end, and we panic, we hold on to this life as strongly as we can.

00:42:27 --> 00:42:33

I don't want to leave, leave to what leave in phase one. So you hold on to it as fiercely as you can.

00:42:35 --> 00:42:38

And you hold on to wealth which serves this life

00:42:39 --> 00:42:40

as fiercely as you can.

00:42:42 --> 00:42:49

So though the body is getting older, the heart is still young and strong and its love for this life.

00:42:50 --> 00:43:16

And in fact, panelized says and another ration that you will find in Bukhari is that it doesn't only remain strong, it even grow stronger. So he says, Yakubu Adam Smith and he says the child of Adam grows. And two things grow with him. Love of this life and love of wealth. So they don't only remain strong, at least for some people, they don't only remain strong, they become even stronger.

00:43:18 --> 00:43:21

And this is here, you know, a point of caution for us

00:43:23 --> 00:43:28

that let us not say to ourselves, you know, I'll do it. When I'm older.

00:43:29 --> 00:43:47

I'll just repent and I'll pray and I'll be a good person when I'm older. When you listen to this hadith and the prophets will allow you to send them he's saying that your hearts love for this dunya will be most intense. When you're older, it may be difficult for some people to change their heart Dennis.

00:43:49 --> 00:44:23

You may not have access over it. You may not have control over it because I spent all of my life loving dystonia How can I change now? Now it's true Al Hamdulillah Allah allows a lot of people or some people to change when they become older and they become closer to Allah and they die like that. This is an AMA from Allah subhanho wa Taala and this is likely because they've done something right, they've done something while they were younger, that Allah Subhana Allah, Allah knew that they have something good inside of them. But you can't say to yourself, no, I'm not going to do anything.

00:44:24 --> 00:44:35

And I'm not going to care for my heart and my heart is not going to love Allah not love this religion and not practice any of it won't just wait for the time to like be older first. We may not reach that time.

00:44:37 --> 00:44:59

Second, even if we reach it right, while I'm one ally holder been in Iraq will be know that last panel data can stand between you and your heart. Know that the love of this dunya can stand between you and your heart you want to repent but you love it so much. You want to give but you love money so much. You want it you want to love Allah subhanho wa Taala but the love of God

00:45:00 --> 00:45:01

Had overwhelmed you so much.

00:45:04 --> 00:45:09

So you don't want to do that. And you want to fix your heart as soon as you can. And as fast as you can.

00:45:12 --> 00:45:12

Now,

00:45:16 --> 00:45:19

there might be in our minds in contradiction

00:45:20 --> 00:45:21

between saying,

00:45:22 --> 00:45:24

How can I have peace or

00:45:26 --> 00:45:34

hope? Or think that I'm going to die soon? And the same time I plan for anything long term?

00:45:35 --> 00:45:42

Right? I don't know if that had crossed your mind or not? No, if it did, right.

00:45:46 --> 00:45:50

Right there is that say it's not a Hadith, actually. But it's a saying that says that

00:45:51 --> 00:45:55

plan for your denier will work for you denier as if you were living forever, right?

00:45:57 --> 00:46:01

So is there like a contradiction between saying either MC developer

00:46:03 --> 00:46:20

does about development or the Messiah. So if I'm a person who is flat, who's thinking like this, I'm gonna, I may die in the morning, I may die in the evening, this is my last slide. Does that contradict the fact that I'm planning something for next week and planning something for next year, and so on.

00:46:22 --> 00:46:36

And the thing that I'm going to say is that there is really no contradiction between the two. And in fact, that type of thinking only enhances your long term plans. Right? Because not, you're not going to delay the thing that you need to delay.

00:46:38 --> 00:46:41

Right? If you're thinking to yourself, right.

00:46:42 --> 00:46:44

I want to plan something.

00:46:45 --> 00:46:57

Remember, also some of the stuff that we said before I want to plan something, you first have to ask yourself is this for me for this dunya or for the sake of Allah subhana wa Tada, that's the first thing that you want to ask.

00:46:58 --> 00:47:12

If it is for the sake of Allah subhana wa Tada, then it really doesn't harm you. Whether you die before you see its conclusion or not, because Allah writes that intention for you, unlike the rights that activity for you.

00:47:13 --> 00:47:39

So he said to his Prophet, sallAllahu, wasallam in the Quran, why? What are we going to take your life before you see what is going to happen to them or not their matter, or their affair belongs to us that he's telling us a lot he was in a, it's possible that you're not going to see the conclusion of all of this, you just deliver the message. It's possible that if I plan something that is big, I want to memorize the Quran,

00:47:40 --> 00:47:49

that will take me maybe a year or two or more. But I don't know if I'm going to live a year or two or more, should I not plan it? No, you plan it.

00:47:50 --> 00:48:28

But if you think that you're gonna die tomorrow, you say to yourself, I want to meet Allah subhana wa Taala having having done my best today. And my plan is to memorize the Hold on, or to build this hospital, or to whatever, whatever, you know, take care of this huge project that I have. So I'll do everything that I can today that I when I meet a licl I've done everything that I can to make it successful. And when you meet Allah with such an intention, and having done all that you can to make this project successful, Allah will write it for you as if you have actually accomplished it.

00:48:30 --> 00:48:30

You follow me?

00:48:32 --> 00:48:50

So maybe you have not memorized the whole the entire Hold on, but that's my intention, my sincere intention, and I have been doing every day all that I can, without overwhelming yourself, right without panicking, you know, oh, my goodness, memorized, you know, 20 pages for No, no, you know, with a focused, steady effort.

00:48:51 --> 00:49:02

But I have done my job for today. And you die before reaching that objective. A lot of our data will write it for this person, as if you have accomplished all of that.

00:49:04 --> 00:49:32

So it doesn't actually stop you from thinking big, it actually pushes you to plan big, and it organizes your life for you. So here, Abdullah, Abdullah, you're going to be dying tomorrow. What about this project of yours? Okay, I will take care of it as much as I can today. Then the next day, Abdullah, you're going to be dying today. You're going to be done tomorrow. What about you, I'll be taking care of it and so on and so on and so on. And this is by the way, how your heart stays young.

00:49:33 --> 00:49:59

So this is another description of the heart that I want to ask add for tonight. The young, vital, hopeful heart, not hopeful in the dunya going to have more money, I'm going to be rich and I'm going to be famous. Not that hopeful in the hereafter. Hoping from Allah subhana wa Adana, having a young heart, it doesn't really matter if you are 80 or 90 or 100. You will see them somehow

00:50:00 --> 00:50:37

Allah, you know, ask Allah Subhana Allah to give us all hearts like these when we reach and if we reach that type of age, he is 90 or 100 and he's going and learning the Quran and you say to yourself for somebody who is a cynic or a skeptic, why are you doing this or trying to memorize the Quran at this age? says yes because I want to meet Allah subhanaw taala on this effort on doesn't matter if I actually memorize this, but on this effort on this path, that's how I will meet Allah subhana wa Tada. You find him going to the masjid, right. And some people are carrying into the mustard. Why are you doing that because I will meet Allah subhanho wa Taala doing this, and on this

00:50:37 --> 00:50:40

path and on that effort, that's a young heart

00:50:42 --> 00:51:02

doesn't pay attention to how great hair is and how old the body is. That's a young heart. And that's the kind of heart that we have versus another heart, right? The body could be very young, but the heart his side is depressed and has given up hope. Nothing works. In my heart is dead. You know, love isn't love me that a heart that is very old indicate.

00:51:04 --> 00:51:12

So another description or another state of the heart is the hopeful young vital heart and the dead heart that had lost hope.

00:51:13 --> 00:51:20

And the thing that in life is the heart again is what a loss of Hannah what to add and having hope in Him. So don't have hope.

00:51:22 --> 00:51:29

In this dunya don't invest your hope in this dunya it's worthless, and it will disappoint you.

00:51:30 --> 00:52:07

You want to turn a life out and he said I wanted to turn on life I wanted to own life, you can get this eternal life from Allah subhanho wa Taala in the hereafter in general. Right? So this is our hope. And that is the hope that brings the heart closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala and detaches it from the temptations of this dunya and the shavon. Opposite the whole that this hadith is talking about the older you get the more attached to this dunya you will be and the greater the sorrow will be when the Angel of Death comes and says to the soul cart.

00:52:09 --> 00:52:11

And where are you going to take me

00:52:12 --> 00:52:43

and other than sin or piety or impiety? Right? Other than piety and impiety. right because of the soul when the soul actually is being received by the angels of mercy, right and it sees that it wants to exit to the angels of mercy, right? And when the soul sees the angel of punishment, it doesn't runs away from them, but other than piety and impiety a soul that had been attached to Allah soprano data and is waiting to meet him. When you tell it come and meet Allah says yes. That's the thing that I was been waiting for.

00:52:44 --> 00:52:52

That's my hole. And the soul that had been attached to the slide utilities come and leave it turns back into the body.

00:52:53 --> 00:53:16

So we ask Allah Subhana Allah to make us of those souls that are attached to Allah subhana wa tada and hopeful of everything that he had promised not to make us of those who put all of their hope in there didn't believe the deception of the shavon Desert long Hydra at least America mahalo economy Allah reward you. I say satanic along with behind the shadow of the ADA in the
