Assalamu alaikum, Sheikh. May Allah bless and preserve
you and your family.
In regards to the partition in the Masjid,
I guess more in a possible American context,
not all the Islamic centers
would be near or the masajid would be
near where people live.
And,
in the Medina setting, the prophet salallahu alayhi
wa sallam, people would walk home. So many
people who would be coming to the Masjid
in America would be taking a
car coming with their whole family. So
and adding on to that, I believe I
don't remember the reference right now, but there's
a hadith of, Salma
radiAllahu anha. And she alludes to that the
woman would,
after the Rasulam, you know, led the salah,
they would get up and leave, and they
wouldn't stay for the arathkar.
But the men would,
assuming that they would be going home because
they can walk home. But in the context
of Masjid, they're not near houses. You women
would stay there, do all their dhikr,
while sitting down after the salah and they
would pray their sunnah salah, which is common
in many masjids in the US.
So they would be staying there with the
men.
Adding on to that,
you describe and I often heard your explanation,
Alhamdulillah, it's very beneficial,
often focus on the, at least from my
understanding, the ideal scenario of woman covering. But
the reality in many Masjid is that the
woman
will not be in jilbaab or they won't
be in a modest,
clothing. And even if the imam addresses that
often, it's not often followed the advice and
they still come in the dressing that's not
according to the sunnah.
So my question is that
in this scenario of a of a masajid
that the women are going to stay after
the salah finishes. They're not going to move.
They're going to do the thickr. They're going
to stay for their sunnah salah. And if
there are women who are not appropriately dressed,
is your fatwa still the same for no
barrier being in the masjid in that scenario?
You know, first thing,
you know, we may live, you know, before
the men. It was because, you know,
the space was very narrow
and exit was, you know, same entrance for
both men and women. So they're crowded, same
exit. But if there are many, many girls
and and when the prophet made the world
girls for women, things have changed. So like
now in the mosque of Madinah Mecca, nobody
said men stay and then women go.
It it it was only when if you
have a mosque,
but very small affair with just a space
and only one door for many women aboard,
certainly, we have to make an effort because,
you know, we don't want many women to
be caught on on the door. But if
there are 2 exits, 2 doors, that's for
2 different interests, 2 different. So nothing to
do with that. Men will stay, women will
stay. They want to do sunnah. They want
to stay there as long as they like
it. You know, there's no problem. Always have
been in in Haram. Both Haram. Men and
women stay. Women used to do tawaf. They
used to do,
at the in the mosque, the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the the the the the
the the the the most was very small
and only one girl. But when the made
more other girls and he allowed the, you
know, they're fine. The women can go, you
know,
as they want.
So that hadith is for that purpose. You
know, it's not that women always
it never happened Islam
that in later centuries that men stay in
the mosque and women live. This was only
early,
very, very early. After that, you know, men
and women both are going together. They're walking
together. Even Omar Khattab al Latran, he cares
for the mosque and women come for the
mosque, and he talks with them, and there's
so many incidents of his talking to the
women. The women have left earlier. How can
he talk with them?
You know, the people used to do that
was when there's a very small, narrow space.
They can't go anywhere.
Is it clear? With the clothes.
Yeah. To women, sometimes what happen?
People can come to the mosque when they
don't have prepared clothes.
But they're coming to the mosque that tells
you they're turning to Allah. You know, people
who turn to Allah, they are different from
those who turn away from Allah. Though to
turn to Allah,
then they are different. They're believers. They're they're
coming for prayer. They're not coming to to
to effort. They're coming for another purpose. Then
we should respect them. We should really encourage
them. And then gradually make effort, they will
improve. 1st time they will come, 2nd time,
you know, sometimes they will know. If you
make condition, the condition of the mosque of
coming to the mosque is this. For many
women who are coming from the society where
they know they have no idea. Not right.
Though you're covering that, but they don't learn
at home. They're not learning at home. They
don't know really this Islam. First time they're
coming, they come like they think like any
space.
So when they come in our time, encourage
them. Let them come, you know, and, you
know, encourage them, Insha'Allah, after a while, they
will do. And
I remember some some some girls, you know,
they started coming to my Bukhary class, and
they were not covering properly.
So
people people would say that that, you know,
Sheikh Jarrah is taking Buhari to the women
who are not covered properly. How can Buhari
disrespect Buhari? But I thought, no, this is
not the right way. Let them come. Bukhary
will make them to call. And it happened
after a while. Some of them actually said
to me they become the and
this and that. That how they were. All
of that make a difference between 2 types
of people, the people who paint, who is
coming to you. The painting will differ from
those who turn away from you. If
if somebody comes to the person, if somebody
comes to him and says, I kiss a
woman.
This person is different from somebody who kiss
and then he runs away. They're not both
two things. If somebody kisses the woman and
runs away,
it's different. If somebody kisses the woman and
he comes to the person, he's a different
person. Somebody coming to the mosque, it's completely
different matter. Try to understand this matter. That
why, you know, I don't like it when
the people actually make so much for the
women who come to the mosque, you know,
because they're coming from an environment which is
the ignorance.
Encourage them. You know, help them. And also
men, many men will come in not appropriate
clothes. Don't worry.
Coming to the mosque will help to one
step to Allah.
To where somebody comes one step to Allah,
Allah comes even more. People walk to Allah,
Allah runs to them. To always look at
the matter, you know, from this angle. And
that's how the prophet has been dealing. When
people come to him as a painting, then
he treats them differently. And you will see
the changes. To always be reformer. Always have
sincere adviser to the people, and always think
positively that this person has come to the
mosque. In the next time, he will be
more approved and coming to the mosque, help
the person to become more pious. And if
you make the condition only people who have
to put their cloth, they can come to
the mosque. Nothing will happen. So I I
I this is actually my opinion, and I've
been teaching the people
that when people come to Allah,
they will come. Encourage them.
Whatever condition come. People drunk. People if somebody,
you know, kills someone, any crime, coming to
Allah, will come the person. If somebody turns
away from Allah, there is a different person.
You know, this coming to Allah is repenting.
You know, it's very, very big. Coming to
the mosque is a big thing. Even actually,
when peep people said that we will, you
know, lead the prayer, you know, in the
mosque, and women only mosque.
I I I'm not a guy, you know,
I do I do think it's sooner. I
don't encourage that, but I feel really what
they're doing is they're coming to doing this
for sake of Allah. They're not doing something
wrong.
They're misunderstanding
in this matter, but they want to free
the Lord. They worshiping the Lord with mistake.
Somebody who worship his Lord with mistake is
a different person for compared to the person
who does not obey. Then now listen. To
commit to the most in any condition is
a big thing. You know, if somebody goes
in a tub
to to a pub,
we are not going to allow that because
this is turning away from Allah. Even in
a tub, by some kind to the mosque,
you know, without any covering, you know, to
build them. This heart is so so pure,
so clean, and one day, your body will
be clean. Or even understand this thing properly.
Anybody repenting or painting, coming to Allah is
always different from those who turn away from
Allah. And don't worry about their clothes, whatever
their past has been. Don't worry about that.
Because Allah is if Allah says people come
to me
with the sins full of oceans, I will
come to them with forgiveness
full of ocean.
