And therefore you if you want to be his wives need to be patient. And that is why
the next verse will say that if you want Allah and the next life, then you must be patient with that which Allah azza wa jal has decreed upon you. And the scholars often take from this verse and these verses therefore, the same principle applies to many of the people of knowledge. Throughout the history, the vast majority of the scholars and people of knowledge are people who are generally poor. One of the things that we often forget is how their wives and their spouses and their children, their families also had to be very patient with that state. Because they have to also go through that same level of difficulty. And that is why amongst the setup, when someone is to come
and say, I want to be a student of knowledge, they would say, then prepare for a life of poverty. That's one of the things that they would say, because if you don't have the patience upon that your family doesn't have a patience upon that your wife your child, difficult. If your wife saying to you, I can't do this. It's too difficult for me. It's difficult, what are you going to do so hard position to be in? So hey, Allah azza wa jal says, You have the choice to the wives of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam choose one or choose the other, or the problem escalates in an inappropriate level. But if you seek Allah and His messenger and the final abode, that is, if these
are your goals and ultimate aim, and if you prefer Allah and His Messenger, sallallahu alayhi, Salam and Paradise and you do not worry about whether you have plenty or little in this world, or if you have ease or hardship and you're content with whatever the messenger of allah sallallahu alayhi salam can give you and you do not make demands on him and put pressure on him, then verily, Allah has prepared for those among you who do good an immense reward. The reward is connected to their being among those who do good because the promise of reward is connected to doing good, not being not to being the wives of the messenger. So the Lord is saying, simply being his wife is not enough.
Rather, nothing is to any avail without doing good. So the messenger of allah sallallahu Sallam giving them a choice, and they all chose Allah and His Messenger SallAllahu Sallam in the final abode, and not one of them differed, may Allah be pleased with them all. terms of a husband, there's a right that is upon you in terms of what you provide for your family, your wife, your children, and so on. But what we benefit from this also, is that if the other party says or compromises or gives away some of those rights or is willing to negotiate some of those rights then or is permissible, because here the wives of the Prophet some have certain rights that they were asking for. Allah azza wa jal says, but you need to be patient and seek Allah's reward because for you, there's a greater golden objective, and they were happy to do so. So therefore, in marriages, often it is an issue of compromise and negotiation and hoping for Allah's reward and what
is better in this life in the next this was a demonstration of their high status and high ambition because Allah, His Messenger SallAllahu Sallam in the final abode, where they go, now this world and its transit games, offering this choice prepare them to attain the most sublime levels in Paradise, and to be his wife's boss in this world. And hereafter demonstrated that there was compatibility between him and them, because he was the most perfect of people and Allah wanted his wife to be perfect, good and obedient. Good women offer good men and good men offer good women, this choice would bring about contentment by means of one
by means of which one would feel at ease and comfortable, and it will take away stinginess and discontent that will lead to anxiety, grief and worry, this choice of theirs was a means of increasing and multiplying their reward
and enabling them to reach a status that no other woman could attain. Hence, Allah Subhan Allah Allah subhanaw taala gave to the wives of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam a high status because they chose to be patient and they chose Allah, and the reward of Allah subhanaw taala. And this is the surah that most speaks about the status and the virtues of the wives of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So some of those virtues have already proceeded from the beginning of the Surah, such as that being the Mothers of the Believers that title that station that they're given, that's from the result of this choice that they need for the sake of Allah azza wa jal, and
