The transcript discusses the dangerous sh pattern of sh basis and sh patterning, which is a result of actions taken by individuals. It is impossible to predict how it will affect the future, but it is possible to see how it will affect the future. The conflict between Islam and the western world is mentioned, with the deaths of male children and the loss of lives being the main themes. The conflict is also related to the deaths of some people and the loss of their lives. The d union is a general principle in tafsir and the people of the fire are able to see the light of the d union.
AI: Summary ©
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed
Satan.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most
Merciful.
In the
name
of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
As a sign for them and as a
reminder for them that they may take heed
and listen from it.
So Allah sent upon them drought and famine.
He sent upon their manifestation of frogs and
lice and the plague of locusts and floods
and water that turned into blood as well
as plague.
All of these are signs from subhanahu wa'ta
'ala.
But instead of taking heed of those signs
of taking benefit from them, the people of
Pharaoh rejected those signs and they continued to
be arrogant and proud in their rejection and
they were an evil and wicked people.
So then they eventually come to Musa Alayhi
Salaam because of those ailments and punishments becoming
so difficult upon them, so hard upon them.
And they said to Musa Alayhi Salaam, if
you call upon your Lord and you ask
him to remove this from us, then we
will believe in you and we will set
free Bani Israel that they may go with
you.
And once Allah Azawajal had removed those punishments
from them, they broke that pact.
They didn't believe in Musa Alayhi Salaam and
even though they initially set free Bani Israel,
they then decided to go and attack them
and chase them down and to kill them.
And so Allah Azawajal punished Pharaoh and his
people and they were drowned in the sea.
And Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala mentions to us
how the people who truly inherited the earth,
those people who truly had Allah's promise fulfilled
to them were the people of Bani Israel.
And Allah Azawajal didn't allow Pharaoh with all
of his wealth and all of his power
and all of his armies and everything that
he had of the dunya didn't benefit him
in the end, didn't come to his aid
when he opposed Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and
the religion of Allah Azawajal.
In today's episode from verse 138 onwards, Allah
subhanahu wa'ta'ala will now speak about the
story of Bani Israel.
So this is the story of Musa Alayhi
Salaam and Pharaoh.
By now Pharaoh is destroyed and the people
of Pharaoh are destroyed.
So now the story continues with Bani Israel
and how they now progress after the destruction
of Pharaoh and his people and his armies.
And that is the Bani Israel now are
told that they must obey Allah Azawajal and
follow the commandments that Allah Azawajal will reveal
to them.
So Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala in verse 138
tells us of an incident that took place.
He says subhanahu wa'ta'ala We
took the children of Israel across the sea.
When they came upon a people who worshipped
idols, they said, Oh Musa, make a God
for us like theirs.
He said, you really are a foolish, ignorant
people.
Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala saved the people of
Bani Israel.
And Allah Azawajal saves Bani Israel from Pharaoh
because of their Iman in Allah Azawajal and
because of their belief and their obedience to
Musa Alayhi Salaam.
And Allah Azawajal allows them to escape over
the sea as we know in that story
of Musa Alayhi Salaam and Pharaoh.
The sea is parted for them and they
escape and now they have passed over the
sea or they have passed beyond the area
of the sea.
They have crossed the sea.
As they are traveling in this land, they
come across a group of people or they
come across a group of people who are
worshipping idols.
So they're making They're going to these idols.
They're taking blessings from them.
They're rubbing them.
They're worshipping them.
They're invoking them.
They're supplicating them.
This is what they are doing.
And the people of Musa or Bani Israel
see this and they say to Musa Alayhi
Salaam Why don't you form for us, shape
for us, build for us a God like
these idols that these people are worshipping?
Meaning that they have not understood the reality
of Tawheed.
Or some of those people haven't yet understood
the reality of Tawheed and what it is
and what it means and what it denotes.
And we will see a number of examples
of this in the story of Musa Alayhi
Salaam and Bani Israel after the destruction of
Pharaoh.
Because as we know, they will after a
while go on to worship the calf that
is built for them by that man by
the name of Samir.
And so they haven't yet understood that Iman
hasn't settled in their heart.
That even despite the many blessings that Allah
has just bestowed upon them, save them from
slavery, save them from bondage, save them from
Pharaoh, save them from the armies of Pharaoh,
allow them to escape and now they're going
to be promised many other things and Allah
Azawajal is going to bestow upon them many
blessings.
They are still going to turn away from
Allah Azawajal at times and points and worship
other than Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And that is why me and you, no
Muslims should ever think that they are safe
from shirk.
Because there are many Muslims in the world
today who make and perform acts of shirk
with Allah Azawajal.
They make dua to other than Allah and
some of them hope from other than Allah
or fear other than Allah Azawajal in a
divine way.
Some of them, they think that others can
grant their supplications besides Allah Azawajal.
Others sacrifice to other than Allah or they
take oaths by other than Allah Azawajal.
There are a number of things that take
place where Muslims today who claim to be
Muslims and look like Muslims and behave like
Muslims for the most part, they are still
performing and engaged in acts of shirk.
So no one should think that they are
safe from shirk.
If the people of Musa Alayhis Salaam in
the presence of a prophet having seen all
of these miracles, having just been saved from
Pharaoh, can fall into shirk, then me and
you should never think that we are safe
from it.
And that is right from the beautiful duas
of the Quran.
It's the dua of the Prophet Ibrahim Alayhis
Salaam when he said and asked Allah Azawajal
وَجُنُوبْنِي وَبَنِيَّا نَعْبُدَ الْأَسْلَامِ Oh Allah save me
and my children from idol worship.
Because he understood that there's a threat there,
there's a danger there.
People will fall into that danger in one
way or another of shirk.
So he would ask Allah Azawajal to protect
him and his children from performing shirk and
from performing idolatry.
So these people, they see a group of
people worshipping idols and they want idols similar
to those idols.
And Musa Alayhis Salaam says to them إِنَّكُمْ
قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ You are a foolish people.
This is similar to an incident that takes
place in the time of the Prophet that
is mentioned in the books of hadith.
And that is that there were a group
of new Muslims that had entered into the
fold of Islam.
And the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was then
leading the companions including these groups of new
Muslims on a military expedition.
And as they were travelling they came across
a tree that the Arabs used to venerate.
They would hang their swords, their shields, their
weapons upon this tree and they would consider
it to be a blessed tree.
They would invoke blessings from the tree.
Not from Allah Azawajal, from the tree.
They believed that this tree was holy.
That it had the ability to give blessings
and to give barakah and to give some
type of protection or some type of enhancement
to the weapons that they were placing upon
it.
So these companions who were new Muslims still
have within themselves those ideas of what they
have spent a lifetime doing and that is
worshipping other than Allah Azawajal.
They said, O Messenger of Allah, why will
you not make for us a that anwat?
That was the name of the tree.
Like these people have a that anwat.
And the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Your
example is like the example of the people
of Musa when they said to Musa, make
for us an idol like these people have
an idol.
And he's referring to this verse in Surah
Al-A'raf, verse 138 in the hadith.
And so it shows that it's not just
about saying La ilaha illa Allah.
But sometimes, especially when you don't understand what
that means, shirk can creep in in so
many different ways.
And Shaytan has so many different tricks in
which he brings this idea of people worshipping
other than Allah Azawajal.
And some of it seems very innocuous, very
innocent.
Seems like there's nothing to it that is
sinister.
But in its reality, if you were to
uncover it and to remove all of its
layers, it is shirk in its essence.
People who believe, for example, that the Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam or an imam or a
saint or an angel or a sheikh or
whoever it is, can grant them children, can
cure their diseases and illnesses, can give them
an increase in wealth.
These are things that are not in the
power of anyone to do except Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
Unless that person is living and has the
physical ability to assist you along that way.
You go to someone who's living and you
say to them, I need your help in
a business, come and help me.
They have the ability to do so.
And that's something which Allah gave them the
ability to do so.
And they're living and that's fine.
That's asking someone for assistance.
But you don't believe that that person owns
the dunya.
You don't believe that that person is the
one who determines your rizq.
You don't believe that that person is the
one who commands good and evil or has,
for example, life and death in their hands
in that way.
No.
And so those are things that are restricted
for Allah azzawajal alone.
And so it is very common in our
time for people to perform acts of shirk,
not knowing or thinking or understanding that they
are acts of shirk.
And that is extremely dangerous.
Because that is how shirk becomes prevalent in
communities.
And we've all seen those videos on YouTube.
We've all seen those clips on social media
where you have Muslims performing tawaf around people's
graves.
You have Muslims making dua to other than
Allah azzawajal.
You have Muslims that are taking oaths by
other than Allah's name.
And those people don't call it shirk.
They don't say we're performing shirk with Allah
azzawajal.
They'll call it tawassul or they'll give it
some other name or they'll give it some
other type of justification.
But in its essence, it is a type
of or a form of shirk that is
extremely dangerous.
Whether it is minor shirk or major shirk,
it is still extremely dangerous.
And so therefore Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
shows us here in this verse that the
people of Musa a.s. succumbed to this
as well.
And Musa a.s. said to them that
this is the action of those who are
ignorant.
In verse 139, he continues and he says
to his people, The cult or these
people practice, what these people practice, it is
doomed to destruction.
And what they have been doing, it is
useless.
Meaning that this worship that they're doing besides
Allah azzawajal, it will be rendered null and
void.
Won't benefit them.
Doesn't help them.
Doesn't bring them closer to Allah.
They don't get good deeds.
It will be useless to them.
And that which they do, they hope that
they will gain by making that dua, what
they're asking for, what they're hoping for, what
they're wishing and dreaming for, they won't even
achieve that either.
And sometimes Allah azzawajal gives to them a
small amount of it to further their test
and their trial.
Allah azzawajal responds to some of those, some
of those duas are answered.
They get some of what they want.
Someone wants a child or someone wants an
increase of risk.
Sometimes they're given those things that they want.
And that is a further test and trial
for them.
Just like the Prophet ﷺ concerning the fortune
teller.
Takes one truth, mixes it with 99 lies.
Out of those hundred things that he tells
you, one comes true and you hold on
to it, you * it.
And you're like, yes, he must know what
he's doing or she must know what she's
doing.
Because you hold on to that one truth
and shaitan makes you forget about the 99
lies that he told or she told.
99% is false and there is one
truth in it.
You hold on to that one truth and
you don't see that most of what he's
doing is false.
It's a fluke.
Likewise, with these people as well.
Sometimes what you want, it's given to you
because it was decreed for you anyway.
It was coming to you anyway.
It's because of the sincere dua that you
made to Allah on those occasions that you
were sincere to Allah.
Allah granted you for it.
Allah granted you what it is that you
wanted.
But you attribute it not to Allah, you
attribute it to the saint.
You attribute it to the dead person in
their grave.
You attribute it to the shrine.
And so you start to increase in your
acts of shirk because of that's how shaitan
comes and he plays with the minds of
people.
And so Musa a.s. says to his
people, all of this is useless and it
will be rendered null and void and it
will not benefit anyone in any way in
this world or the next.
In verse 140 Allah a.s. then continues
and he says that Musa a.s. said
to his people, قَالَ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْغِيكُمْ إِلَٰهَا
وَهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ Why should I seek
any God for you other than Allah a
.s. when he has favoured you over all
other people?
Meaning why would you turn to other than
Allah a.s. when he just gave to
you all of these blessings and favoured you.
He sent to you a messenger.
He showed you the path of Tawheed.
He saved you from your enemies.
He gave to you the land.
He has given to you all of these
blessings.
Why then are you seeking this from other
than Allah a.s.? Just like me and
you as Muslims, Allah a.s. has given
you life, Allah a.s. has given you
Islam, Allah a.s. has given you family,
Allah a.s. has given you wealth, Allah
a.s. has given you health, Allah a
.s. has given you so many different things
that you benefit from.
So why then would you seek that from
other than Allah a.s.? Why are you
asking and finding it from other than Allah
a.s.? When Allah a.s. is the
one who grants it all.
And he is the one alone, subhanahu wa
ta'ala, worthy of worship.
In verse 141, Allah a.s. then reminds
Bani Israel of the many blessings that he
bestowed upon them, the many favours that they
were given, and the many things that Allah
a.s. gave to them in this time
period after the destruction of Pharaoh.
And remember when We saved
you from Pharaoh's people who were subjecting you
to the worst of sufferings, killing your male
children, sparing only your females.
That was a mighty ordeal from your Lord.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala now reminds
Bani Israel, why would you make shirk, why
would you look for these idols when Allah
a.s. has given to you so many
blessings.
From the greatest of those blessings is that
Allah a.s. saved you from Pharaoh who
used to make you suffer in the most
horrible of ways, used to torture you and
persecute you, used to oppress you in so
many different ways, made you his slaves, placed
you and your children in bondage.
Imagine generation after generation.
Bani Israel couldn't buy their way out, they
couldn't sell their services to him, they couldn't
find freedom in one way or another.
They were slaves from generation to generation.
They are slaves, their children will be slaves,
their grandchildren will be slaves, their forefathers were
slaves, their ancestors were slaves.
That is the type of evil that they
were living on.
Not only that, but He treated them in
the most evil of ways.
يُغَطِّيرُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ On a whim, on a desire,
on a dream that he saw, he dictated
that all of the males should be killed.
Every male child, no one should be spared.
وَإِسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ And on the same whim and
desire, he allowed the women to live.
وَفِي ذَٰلِكُمْ بَلَاءٌ لِلرَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ And then with
that, there was a mighty ordeal for you.
Meaning that was from the greatest test that
you had to endure.
Allah saved you from that.
Allah a.s. made things easy for you
after that.
And that is from the greatest blessings that
Allah a.s. bestowed upon Bani Israel.
Also from what Allah a.s. gave to
him or gave to Bani Israel is then
what Allah a.s. mentions in the next
couple of verses.
And that is that Allah a.s. would
further honor them and bless them by giving
to them revelation, the Torah.
Allah a.s. would honor them by giving
to him his word and his book that
they would be able to take and use
and find guidance and mercy through.
Allah a.s. says in verse 142
We appointed
thirty knights for Musa.
Then added ten more.
The term set by his lord was completed
in forty knights.
Musa said to his brother Harun, Take my
place amongst my people.
Act rightly and do not follow the way
of those who spread corruption.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave to
Musa a.s. this Miqat or this appointment
with him.
That he should go and that he should
go to the mountain of At-Tur.
And there he will meet Allah a.s.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will give
to him the revelation of the Torah.
And that journey would take for him a
number of days as we can see and
weeks.
Thirty days was set for him initially.
And then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala added
further ten.
And it became forty days in total or
forty nights in total.
And the scholars of Tafsir have a long
and varied discussion as to when those days
and nights were.
Which month did they fall in and so
on.
From amongst those positions for example of the
thirty nights was the month of Dhul Hijjah.
Which is the month of Hajj.
And then the ten nights would be the
first ten nights of Muharram.
That would bring your day to the tenth
of Muharram which is the day of Ashura.
That is one position Allah a.s. knows
best.
But the point being that Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala placed for him these forty nights.
And so Musa a.s. went and he
sought seclusion with his Lord for forty nights.
And whilst doing so he appointed in his
place his brother Harun a.s. Harun as
we know is from the prophets of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
He is mentioned here and there in the
story of Musa a.s. and Pharaoh.
And one of the places in which he
is mentioned is in this particular incident.
And that is that when Musa a.s.
is absent.
He places his brother Harun another prophet of
Allah a.s. in his place.
And he says to him take my place.
Meaning lead the people of Bani Israel.
Wa Aslih and do good with them.
Wa La Tattabi' Sabeelul Mufsidin.
And do not follow the way of those
who do or have corruption.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the final
verse that we'll take today.
Verse 143.
It then tells us what took place when
Musa a.s. came to him subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
Allah a.s. says Verse
143.
When Musa a.s. came for the appointment
and his lord spoke to him he said
My lord show yourself to me let me
see you.
He said you will never see me but
look at that mountain.
If it remains standing firm then you will
see me.
And when his lord revealed himself to the
mountain he made it crumble.
Musa fell down unconscious.
When he recovered he said glory be to
you.
To you I turn in repentance and I
am the first to believe.
So Musa a.s. comes to his lord
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Comes to speak to Allah a.s. Comes
to receive the revelation that Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala will give to him.
And when he comes his love for Allah
a.s. And his longing and yearning for
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala prompt him to
ask Allah a.s. something.
He makes a request from his lord subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
And that is that he asks Allah a
.s. Oh Allah allow me to see meaning
in this dunya in this life unveil yourself
to me that I may see you subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
So Allah a.s. responds and he says
You cannot see me meaning in this dunya.
In this life no human is able to
see Allah a.s. No human has the
capacity or the ability because our creation is
too weak.
Our body and our mind and the way
that Allah a.s. has created us in
this dunya in this realm.
It is too weak for us to be
able to see Allah a.s. directly.
And so Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says
you cannot see me.
And so no one in this dunya is
able to see Allah a.s. But there
are numerous hadith and numerous verses of the
Quran that show and indicate that on Yawm
al-Qiyamah the believers will see Allah a
.s. Because when they are resurrected Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala builds them and fashions them
and creates them or reconstructs them in a
different way, in a stronger way.
And that is why the people of Jannah
are able to do what the people of
Jannah are able to do.
And that is why the people of the
fire will suffer and bear what they will
suffer and bear.
If even a portion of that punishment was
to be given to a person in the
dunya, they would die and they would collapse
and they would be destroyed.
They wouldn't be able to bear it.
But on Yawm al-Qiyamah Allah creates people
in a certain way that they will live
for eternity.
And they will bear the punishment for eternity.
And likewise also the delights and rewards for
the people of Jannah.
And so there are two different ways that
Allah a.s.w. makes people between the
dunya and the akhirah.
In the akhirah the people are stronger and
bigger and have the ability to cope with
things that they couldn't cope with in the
dunya.
And that is why on Yawm al-Qiyamah
the believers will be able to see their
Lord.
And it will be the greatest blessing that
Allah a.s.w. will bestow upon them.
So when you have verses of the Quran
and this is a general principle in tafsir,
in hadith, in the sunnah.
When you have verses and hadith and texts
that seem like there may be some contradiction
or they're saying one thing and another one
saying a different thing.
Always there is a way that you can
reconcile.
That there is a context by which it
can be understood.
And to deny or to reject some of
these attributes of Allah or some of these
rewards of Allah or some of these hadith
that speak about for example the seeing of
Allah a.s.w. on Yawm al-Qiyamah.
That is not the way of the people
of the sunnah.
Nor is it the way of the people
of knowledge.
But rather what the people of knowledge do
is that they understand and they reconcile.
And it's an easy reconciliation.
The difference between the dunya and the akhira.
And that is something which is a general
principle that is understood if you study all
of these different texts of the way that
the human lives or the children of Adam
live in the dunya and the way that
they will live and exist in the akhira.
So Allah a.s.w. said to Musa
a.s. You cannot see me.
But rather look towards that mountain that I
will unveil myself to it.
And if I am able to and if
the mountain is able to withstand me then
you will be able to see me as
well.
Because the mountain is the most formidable of
Allah's creations upon the face of the earth.
A mountain is big and it is strong
and it is formidable.
And so if the mountain can withstand it
then you can withstand it as well.
And if not then that shows to you
that you won't be able to withstand what
a mountain cannot withstand.
So when Allah a.s.w. revealed some
of himself to that mountain and it is
said in some of those narrations that Allah
a.s.w. only revealed the smallest portion
of himself subhanahu wa ta'ala.
The smallest portion of himself he unveiled towards
that mountain.
What happened to the mountain?
It crumbled from the magnificence and the majesty
of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And when Musa saw this he fell down
unconscious as well.
That shows that if the mountain with all
of its strength and power can't withstand seeing
Allah a.s.w. even the smallest part
of him subhanahu wa ta'ala then how
can a human in this dunya be able
to see all of Allah a.s.w.
in all of his magnificence and glory and
majesty subhanahu wa ta'ala and nobility.
And so Musa falls unconscious a.s.w.
And that is why in the hadith that
speak about the resurrection and the falling of
unconsciousness when the trumpet is blown on yawm
al qiyamah the prophet s.a.w. said
that I will be the first one to
awake and when I regain consciousness I will
see before me Musa a.s.w. clinging
to the throne of Allah a.s.w.
and I don't know did he wake up
before me or was he exempted from this
falling unconscious because he fell unconscious on the
mountain of At-Tur and that's what this
is referring to in verse 143 that is
what the prophet s.a.w. is referring
to this incident.
So in Musa a.s.w. when he
recovers when he wakes up again he glorifies
Allah a.s.w. glorifies Allah s.w.
makes tawbah to him I repent to you
and he reaffirms his iman in Allah a
.s.w. that I am the first of
the believers of Allah s.w. because he
has just seen one of the greatest signs
of Allah a.s.w. and then inshallah
ta'ala in the next episode we will
continue and speak about the Torah and what
Allah a.s.w. gave to the people
of Bani Israel and the way that they
responded when they turned away from the commandments
of Allah s.w. but for today's episode
inshallah we will conclude here barakallahu feekum wassalamu
ala nabiyyina Muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi
ajma'in wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
