I seek refuge with Allah from Satan the
accursed.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most
Merciful.
Welcome to another episode of our Tafseer, page
by page, and insha'Allah ta'ala today
we are on page 142 which is the
first page of the eighth Juz, Suratul In
'am.
In the previous episode, Allah mentioned to us
a number of His powers and abilities, His
names and attributes, subhanahu wa ta'ala, and
how Allah alone is worthy of being worshipped.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala told us that
these are the names and attributes of your
Lord.
That is,
Allah, your Lord, He alone is worthy of
being worshipped.
Allah azawajal tells us also in those previous
verses that we covered in the last episode,
that Allah azawajal has sent to us many
clear signs.
Signs that point to Him subhanahu wa ta
'ala that He is the Lord and Creator
and Sustainer alone, and that He alone is
worthy of worship.
Those are clear signs.
Those who recognize those signs and follow them,
they will be to their advantage.
And those who are blind towards them, then
they will suffer the consequences of being blind
to them and turning away from them.
Allah azawajal commands us to worship Him alone
and to follow His revelation and to stay
away from everything which negates that worship of
Him alone subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Allah azawajal then also in the verses that
concluded the previous episode, Allah azawajal told us
to be careful of the consequences of our
actions.
And Allah azawajal told us that from the
principles of this religion is that if by
doing something the harm that will ensue is
greater in return, then you should stay away
from doing that particular action or saying that
particular thing.
And the example is given in cursing the
false gods of others.
By doing so, they may curse Allah azawajal
in return.
And so therefore, that is something that you
should return or stay away from.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said that those
people of disbelief, even if the most clearest
of signs were to come to them despite
their assurances and their promises, they still will
not believe in Allah azawajal.
Because the believer is someone who sees even
the smallest signs of Allah and that is
sufficient.
Whereas the disbelievers are those who see the
greatest signs of Allah and that is not
enough for them to be able to believe.
And so Allah azawajal in the verse that
we begin with today, 111, gives us an
example of some of those major signs that
if they were to come and were they
to be made apparent and were they to
actually take place, that still wouldn't allow or
make those people believe in Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala alone.
Allah azawajal says in verse 111 Even
if we sent the angels down to them
and the dead spoke to them and we
gathered all of the things right in front
of them, they still would not believe unless
Allah also willed but most of them are
ignorant of this.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says as an
example because Allah azawajal in the previous episode
we mentioned those verses in which Allah azawajal
said that they take oaths by Allah, solemnly
swear that if you were to bring us
these signs we would believe.
And Allah azawajal says at the end of
But what will make you realize that
even if those signs were to come, they
still wouldn't believe.
Allah azawajal now gives us examples of this
If the
angels of Allah were to come in their
original form and to show themselves to these
people, these people who always used to say
why didn't Allah send to us angels, why
aren't the angels sent as prophets and messengers,
were they to see the angels in their
original form?
And the dead were to come
back to life and to speak to them
And we
were to gather everything that they demanded in
front of them, all of the things that
they asked for, all of these signs.
And Allah azawajal will mention by the way
in Surah Al-Isra, the many demands that
the Quraish had or the disbelievers of Mecca
had and the Arabs of the Prophet ﷺ
in terms of the miracles and signs that
they wanted to see.
They wanted to see Allah, they wanted to
see its angels, they wanted to see the
Prophet ﷺ fly, they wanted him to bring
down a book from the sky that they
could see him physically bringing down, they wanted
him to have palaces and they wanted him
to have wealth and they wanted him to
have gardens and rivers, all of these commands
and demands that they had, this is what
we want to see and once you present
to us all of this, then we will
believe.
And Allah azawajal says that even if you
were to do so, even if you were
to give them as Allah says here the
angels and the dead back to life speaking
to them and to gather for them all
of these signs that they demand, they will
not believe.
Because that demand from Allah azawajal shows that
Iman has settled in their hearts, they don't
have any belief and if you were to
see Allah and to see Yawm Al-Qiyamah
and to see the fire and you see
paradise, then what is left in terms of
belief anyway?
Because you have accepted, there is nothing left
for you to doubt in.
So Allah azawajal says that that is not
Iman, this is not the Iman that they
have to have and so they wouldn't believe
anyway.
Allah azawajal willed for them to do so.
And there are people, yes, that it takes
them a long time, that they have to
see multiple signs, that it takes them many
years to reach that point of Iman and
we have examples of this from the life
of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam, some of
the companions accepted Islam after 20 odd years
of the Dawah and the mission of the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam.
And so it took them time, but those
people had within themselves some sincerity, some purity
that Allah azawajal then saw and finally guided
them to Islam.
But these people have none, so they won't
believe.
But rather, the majority of
them are ignorant of this, meaning that they
don't understand that this is their reality, they
don't recognise in themselves this.
And that's why you often find people saying
this to you.
They will say to you, well believe if
you can prove this, or prove that, or
see, show us Allah azawajal or whatever it
may be.
And so because those types of proofs, it
shows that those people in their heart have
still a long way to go in order
to reach that point of Iman.
Allah azawajal then says in verse 112
In the
same way, we assign to each prophet an
enemy, evil humans and evil jinn.
They suggest alluring words to one another in
order to deceive.
If it had been your Lord's will, they
would not have done this, leave them to
their inventions.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is now saying
this to console the Prophet ﷺ that there
was not a prophet of Allah azawajal that
came upon earth except that he had enemies,
devils from humans and devils from jinn.
And that shows that the word shaytan or
shayateen, even though it is often used in
the context of the jinn and the devils,
there are human devils as well.
The word shaytan is anything that is evil
and trying to divert people away from the
path of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And so as there are jinns, there are
shayateen and devils, there are also humans that
are devils because the prophets of Allah are
facing both types.
The prophets of Allah have enemies of humans
as well as the enemies of the jinn
as the Prophet ﷺ and the other prophets
who came before him as we saw in
their stories and we see in their stories
throughout the Quran.
And that therefore shows that there are from
humans and jinn, those that are pious.
The jinn have believers amongst them, people who
worship Allah and believe in Allah and Allah
azawajal dedicates a surah to this in the
Quran in the 29th juz suratul jinn and
Allah azawajal mentions it elsewhere and it is
mentioned in a number of hadith of our
Prophet ﷺ that there are jinn that are
righteous and pious and they believe in Allah
azawajal and the Prophet ﷺ and they worship
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala alone.
They are Muslims, they are good, pious, noble
jinn.
We can't see them and we are not
aware of them in that way but Allah
azawajal tells us their existence or tells us
of their existence and therefore we believe in
that which Allah azawajal tells us.
But likewise there are evil humans and evil
jinn and they are the ones who try
to divert away from the path of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
They
suggest to one another alluring words in order
to deceive, meaning that this is what they
do.
They say things to one another in order
to assist one another in diverting others away
from the path of Allah azawajal and that
is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
the Quran and we will see examples of
this inshallah ta'ala when we come to
the stories of the Prophets.
Allah azawajal often refers to the disbelievers and
the people that oppose the Prophets as a
Malak.
A Malak is a group of people usually
of the nobility and the upper classes of
that society that used to gather together.
Even in the story of Pharaoh and Pharaoh
is the leader of his people and he
is the Pharaoh of his people.
Allah azawajal often says that he said to
his Malak.
The Malak are his people that are his
closest advisors, the nobility, the royalty, whoever it
may be that were his essentially his group
of people that he used to use in
order to oppose the Prophets and Messengers of
Allah, whoever they were.
You will often find this in the story
of Noah, the story of Hud, the story
of Musa and Pharaoh and you will see
this a number of times that Allah azawajal
refers to these people as the Malak, the
story of Shu'aib.
And so Allah azawajal says that they always
grouped together because they speak to one another
and they encourage one another, they motivate one
another in order to take people away from
the religion of Islam and that is something
which we see in the story of our
own Prophet ﷺ.
It's not normally just one person opposing the
Prophet ﷺ, it's the nobility of Quraysh, the
chieftains of Quraysh.
You have Abu Jahl and you have Abu
Lahab and you have Utbah and you have
Al-Walid and you have others, all of
them coming together, these are the chieftains of
Quraysh and they come together as a group
and they unite upon this evil in order
to oppose the religion of Islam and the
Prophet ﷺ.
But if your
Lord had willed they would not do so.
But leave them to their
inventions.
Meaning that the fact that they do so
is because Allah azawajal allows them to do
so and rules for it to happen and
so therefore there must be some hikmah in
it, there must be a wisdom in it
that Allah azawajal allows this to happen and
there are many wisdoms as we know for
this reason or for this to happen, not
least of which is that it is a
test for the Prophets and Messengers of Allah
and a test for the believers to see
how strong they will be upon their Iman
and when you're opposed and you show steadfastness
and firmness upon something that is pleasing to
Allah azawajal and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
therefore rewards you greatly.
Allah azawajal then says in verse number 113
So that the
hearts of those who do not believe in
the Hereafter may incline towards their deceit be
pleased with it and so perpetrate whatever they
perpetrate.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says that these
are the reasons why Allah azawajal allows for
these enemies to flourish allows for them to
often have power in the land to have
positions of and status of power to have
wealth and to have armies and so on
Allah azawajal says it is so that their
hearts or the hearts of those who don't
believe in the Hereafter may incline towards this
meaning inclined towards their rejection of Allah azawajal
their rejection of the message that Allah azawajal
has sent the revelation of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala and they think that which they're
doing is good they encourage one another motivate
one another egg one another on because they
think that what they're doing is good they
think that what they're doing is a show
of their prowess and their power and their
and their wealth and so on and so
Allah azawajal says that these are from the
many wisdoms that Allah azawajal has placed within
these types of people who are enemies to
the original enemies of the prophets and messengers
of Allah azawajal these are people who oppose
the prophets of Allah they oppose the believers
and by doing so they are a test
for the believers and the believers must show
their steadfastness in opposition to those people to
show that the Iman is true and that
these are the people and so Allah azawajal
also allows us therefore to see the beauty
of the truth when you see the evil
of the opposite of the truth which is
falsehood and sometimes to appreciate something you must
know its opposite and experience it so often
we understand the preciousness of our health when
we become sick and ill or we see
people around us who are going through disease
and hardship and illness you then appreciate that
Allah azawajal has given to you good health
you see the blessing of wealth when you
see around you poverty and around you people
who are needy and homeless people who don't
have hardly any wealth that they can use
in order to sustain themselves and their needs
and the needs of their families and their
children you appreciate then what Allah azawajal has
given to you and likewise with the believers
when you see the falsehood that other people
are on and the way that they're living
in this world aimlessly without purpose not knowing
the reason and purpose for which Allah azawajal
created them you appreciate Tawheed and you appreciate
Iman and you appreciate that Allah azawajal gave
to the Quran and sent to the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wasalam Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
then says in verse 114 وَالَّذِينَ
any judge other than Allah when it is
he who has sent down sent down for
you the scripture clearly explained those to whom
we gave the scripture know that this Quran
is revealed to you by your Lord with
the truth so do not be from amongst
those who have doubt Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala says in this verse addressing his Prophet
to them should I seek any judge other
than Allah azawajal Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
the one who is all just the one
who is all powerful the one who is
all merciful the one who is all kind
and generous why would I seek a judge
other than him subhanahu wa ta'ala because
every other judge is deficient every other judge
is lacking in terms of insight and knowledge
and their ability to know everything every other
judge is lacking in terms of their compassion
and their kindness and their mercy and their
justice and perfection and so therefore when you
have the Lord subhanahu wa ta'ala that
is all-perfect all-knowing all-merciful why
would you seek a judge other than him
subhanahu wa ta'ala and that is why
some of the Salafis used to say that
if on Yawmul Qiyamah we were given a
choice between our own mothers being our judges
and between Allah azawajal being our judge we
would choose Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala over
our own mothers there is no one more
kind or merciful to you in this life
than your mother in this world no one
more kind to you from the people that
you know than your mother that will sacrifice
more that will do more for you that
will give more to you that will that
will that will go to the effort that
the mother goes to for her child but
on Yawmul Qiyamah or in comparison to Allah
azawajal that person is nowhere near and that
is when the hadith the Prophet salallahu alayhi
wasalam he was sitting with a number of
companions and the lady had lost her child
and so she's running around looking for a
child she's distraught she's looking for a child
and because she's also overcome with fear and
with emotion she finds a small child and
she takes that child and she hugs it
thinking that it's her child but then she
realizes that's not my boy that's not my
child she leaves him and she goes to
the next one she does this a number
of times until finally she finds her son
or her child and she takes that child
and she squeezes him and she hugs him
out of love out of compassion out of
kindness and the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam is
sitting with the companions and he's watching this
unfold before him the Prophet said salallahu alayhi
wasalam do you think that this mother would
ever willingly throw her child into the fire
of * this mother who we just saw
with these traits and this compassion and this
kindness and this love do you think that
she would ever willingly go to a fire
and take her child and throw him in
they said never or messenger of Allah never
a woman like this with a child never
the Prophet said salallahu alayhi wasalam Allah azawajal
is more merciful to his slaves than this
one is to her child Allah has more
mercy subhanaw taala but why because that woman
with her mercy and every mother with all
of her mercy and kindness and love that
is one part of the 100 parts of
mercy of Allah azawajal Allah kept 99 for
himself a normal Qiyamah for the believers one
part was descended upon this earth for all
of humanity and all of creation to share
humans jinn animals plants everything shares this from
the beginning of time to the end of
time so me and you have the smallest
smallest minutest portion or percentage of that one
part of mercy that one percent that Allah
sent down to the ground to the to
the earth we have the smallest portion of
that only Allah knows what that would be
in terms of percentage but it is miniscule
but despite that you see the signs of
love and perfection and affection and compassion that
a mother has towards the child even in
the animal world the mother of an animal
child will show that same type of love
same type of protection same type of because
that's the child and that's what you will
see sometimes in these documentaries when there's a
predator that comes and there's a mother that
has a new child and the predators going
for the child the baby but that mother
even though she's not a predator it may
just be like a cow or it may
be an animal that's like normally easily preyed
upon but the fierceness and the ferociousness of
that mother in protecting a child will ward
off even a lion or a tiger and
that is the mercy that Allah sent down
99 belongs to Allah for the believers and
that is why the scholars said if we
have the choice we choose Allah because the
odds and the percentage is that Allah has
99% and Allah is perfect subhanahu wa
ta'ala in all ways and so Allah
says why would you then seek a judge
other than Allah when it is he who
has sent down to you the scripture clearly
explained and that is from the mercy of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala from his goodness
upon us that Allah gave to us revelation
in scripture that is clearly explained with the
signs that show us the path of salvation
show us what you need to do in
order to achieve goodness in this life and
in the next وَالَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ
And that's why the sincere
from amongst them believe and believed in the
و جل says that you know that it
is the truth You know that what the
Quran brings confirms the truth that was given
to you And you know that it is
something which is مُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْي That it has
supremacy over the revelations that came before Just
as the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم Has
supremacy in that way over the prophets and
messengers who came before him صلى الله عليه
So do not
be from amongst those who doubt Allah سبحانه
وتعالى then says in verse 115 وَتَمَّتْ كَلِيمَةُ
The words of your Lord are complete
in their truth and justice No one can
change His words, He is the all-hearing,
the all-knowing Allah سبحانه وتعالى after mentioning
the Qur'an And how it was revealed
in truth And how Allah عز و جل
has given the clear words of the Qur
'an The revelation as a sign for the
people As a means of them knowing the
truth and turning to Allah عز و جل
The words of your Lord are
complete in their truth and in their justice
Everything which Allah عز و جل says is
true Every word that you find in the
book of Allah عز و جل is true
From the stories, from the commandments, from the
affairs of the unseen From what will happen
on Yawm al-Qiyamah All of it is
true And all of it is justice In
terms of the commands of Allah and the
prohibitions of Allah سبحانه وتعالى All of them
lead to that which is good And all
of them lead to salvation and success And
all of them lead to the reward of
Allah عز و جل And His pleasure and
His mercy سبحانه وتعالى لا مبدل لكلماته No
one can change His words Because the truth
cannot be changed And the justice of Allah
عز و جل cannot be changed And the
universal laws of Allah سبحانه وتعالى cannot be
changed So no one can come and say
That instead of death I will remain alive
in this world I don't want there to
be a day of judgment So I will
keep this world here Or they can't change
the laws of Allah عز و جل That
the people of Iman will go to Jannah
And the people of disbelief will go to
the fire The commands of Allah عز و
جل are true And just no one can
change them From His will
He is the All-Hearing, the
All-Knowing Allah سبحانه وتعالى then says in
If you obeyed most
of those on earth They would lead you
away from the path of Allah They follow
nothing but speculation They are merely guessing Allah
سبحانه وتعالى says that If you were to
follow and obey those Upon this earth The
majority of people Then the majority of people
don't worship Allah عز و جل The majority
of people are upon shirk And so this
is a warning to the Prophet صلى الله
Because sometimes as humans we look
at numbers And we think that the majority
must be correct And even though there are
some instances When that may be the case
and that may be true It is not
always the case Especially when it comes to
belief in Allah عز و جل and Tawheed
Because Allah عز و جل tells us elsewhere
in the Quran وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِاللَّهِ إِلَّا
The majority of people do not
say that they believe in Allah Except that
they commit shirk The majority of people are
not upon Islam But they are upon shirk
As the Prophet told us صلى الله عليه
وسلم About يوم القيامة That Allah عز و
And he
will say Oh Adam And Adam will say
I am here responding to your command of
Allah And Allah عز و جل will command
Adam And he will say take out from
your progeny Your offspring بَعْثِ النَّارِ The portion
that will go to the fire And Adam
Will say Oh my Lord What
is the portion of my offspring That will
go to the fire The Prophet صلى الله
عليه وسلم That Allah عز و جل said
From every thousand Nine hundred and ninety nine
Meaning one of every thousand goes to Jannah
Nine hundred and ninety nine go to the
fire So the overwhelming majority don't believe And
that is what Allah عز و جل says
Concerning or saying to the Prophet
Beware of the way that other
people think The standard is not to do
with numbers It's not to do with might
or power Or any of those worldly metrics
that we use It is Iman and it
is good deeds And Taqwa of Allah عز
If you were to follow the vast majority
They will
take you away from Allah's path إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ
Because the reality
is that they don't follow Revelation or truth
or certainty Rather what they follow is speculation
and guessing They simply use what they think
in their minds Because of the deception of
Shaytan To consider what they consider to be
true And that is not the case In
terms of what is the reality That Allah
عز و جل has revealed In verse 117,
the final verse that we'll take today Allah
Your Lord knows best who strays from His
path And who is rightly guided So Allah
عز و جل says That it is not
about the numbers It's not about the majority
or the minority But Allah عز و جل
has best the knowledge of those Who are
upon Iman and guidance And those who are
upon disbelief and misguidance So Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ
تَعَالَى is the one who will judge It
is not the place of anyone else to
judge Or to make that distinction Or to
say decisively that these people are in Jannah
Or those people are in the fire But
rather it is to do with the commands
of Allah عز و جل And so the
numbers are not a proof For something or
against something But rather the proof is knowledge
The proof is the signs of Allah عز
And the evidence that Allah سُبْحَانَهُ
وَ تَعَالَى has given And that is why
in our religion Our religion goes back to
the sources of revelation The Quran and the
Sunnah of the Prophet
And Allah عز و جل has most knowledge
Of those who are rightly guided And with
that we come to the end of today's
Thank
you for watching!
