I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed
Satan In the name of Allah, Most Gracious,
Most Merciful Peace and blessings be upon you
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most
Merciful All praise is due to Allah, Lord
of the worlds The end is for the
righteous There is no right or wrong except
for the wrongdoers I
do not take or follow the way of
those awliya, those opponents of Allah azawajal, those
people that you have taken rather as protectors
besides Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, Allah azawajal
addressing here, they are disbelievers, that they took
as their masters, as their allies, as their
lords besides Allah, others, and then you chose
to follow them instead, and isn't it amazing
from the traps of shaitan, that he makes
it easier for us to follow falsehood than
to follow guidance and truth, so it's easy
for us to follow falsehood than to follow
guidance and truth, so it's easy for us
to follow falsehood than to follow guidance and
truth, so it's easy for us to follow
falsehood than to follow guidance and truth, so
it's easy for us to follow falsehood than
to follow guidance and truth, so it's easy
for us to follow falsehood than to follow
guidance and truth, so it's easy for us
to follow falsehood than to follow guidance and
truth, so it's easy to follow things that
are haram, because that is from the challenge
of the dunya and its test, than to
follow what is pure and good and pleasing
to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, qaleelam ma
tadhakkaroon, how seldom you take heed, how little
you think, how little you reflect, Allah azawajal
then warns us in verse number four about
the punishment of those people who turn away
or are heedless of Allah and His message,
of Allah's words and His warning subhanahu wa
ta'ala, and he says in verse number
four, how
many towns we have destroyed, our punishment came
to them by night or whilst they slept
in the afternoon, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
says in this verse, verse number four, how
many people from those who came before you,
and you will see as I said in
this surah, examples of these nations that Allah
azawajal destroyed when they rejected His message and
the prophets that were sent to them, how
many nations and towns have we destroyed, the
punishment came to them whilst they were heedless,
whilst they were asleep, whilst they didn't accept
anything to happen to them, at night while
they slept or during the day in the
siesta time as they would sleep, what we
call the qaleel or the qayloola, and so
the Arabs as we know would sleep during
the day, they would rest because of the
severe heat and they would rest at night
and sleep as usual, Allah azawajal sometimes His
punishment can come to you at the most
unexpected time, don't ever think that death will
only come to you when you're ready and
prepared, that you'll be given fair warning, death
may come to you, how many people die
in their sleep, how many people go to
sleep one night not to awake the next
morning, and how many people are fine during
the whole day and then a single momentary
event can take place like a heart attack,
like a stroke, like something sudden, may Allah
azawajal keep us safe, may Allah subhanahu wa'ta
'ala allow us to die upon tawheed and
have the ability at the time of death
to say la ilaha illallah, may Allah azawajal
grant us a good ending, but how often
can that be the case that we die
in that way and in that state, Allah
azawajal is saying that there are lessons in
this, don't think that you will be given
the time or be told the day of
the day of judgment is in such and
such a time, so prepare yourself, or your
death is going to take place in such
and such a time, so prepare yourself, some
people are given that opportunity to know that
they're coming towards the end of their life,
they have a disease that it may be
just a few months or a few years,
or they've reached such an old age that
they know that they're coming towards the end
of their life, that may be for some
people, but it's not a guarantee for everyone,
me and you could die today, today, this
very day that you're listening to this could
be the last day of our lives, we
don't know, there is no guarantee from Allah
azawajal, and that is what Allah subhanahu wa'ta
'ala then says in verse number 5, Their
only crime when our punishment came to them
was how wrong we were, so when that
sudden punishment came upon them, then all they
had the ability to do was to realize
the wrong that they had done, the falsehood
that they were in, and that is for
the non-Muslims, because of the disbelievers, because
they live a life of disbelief, so at
the time of death they realize now, We
were the ones in wrong, we used to
criticize and mock others or look down upon
others or reject others or just heedless in
this life, but now we understand the reality,
because when the angel of death comes and
extracts that soul, then every person will know
the reality of what is correct or not,
every person will realize that actually there is
another life, that Allah azawajal does exist, that
there will be an accounting, and then they
will realize that they spent their whole life
in heedlessness, in neglect, just running after the
dunya, having no thought for the akhira, and
just as that is the case for the
non-Muslims, then likewise for the Muslims, they
will also realize at that time the certainty
of what is taking place.
They will only cry
on that day, and this is clearly primarily
about the disbelievers, when our punishment came to
them was how wrong we were, that happens
to the disbelievers, those nations that were punished
by Allah azawajal in the past, like the
people of Nuh a.s. and the people
of Hud and Salih a.s., but it
also happens at the time of death, even
if there is no destruction or punishment of
Allah azawajal that comes, that you realize or
that person realizes that they lived a life
of wrong, of oppression, of disbelief to Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Or disbelief in Allah azawajal.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala then says in
We shall certainly question those to whom
the messengers were sent, and we shall question
the messengers themselves.
So on yawm al-qiyam Allah azawajal will
resurrect us all, and Allah azawajal will question
the messengers as to what they conveyed of
the message and to whom it was conveyed
and how they fulfill the duty and responsibility
that Allah azawajal placed upon them, and Allah
will question the people to whom they were
sent.
And that is why the prophet told us
salallahu alayhi wa sallam that Allah will call
subhanahu wa ta'ala Nuh a.s. on
yawm al-qiyam and he will say oh
Nuh did you convey the message, and he
will say yes.
And then Allah will call his people and
say did Nuh convey the message to you,
and they will say no messenger came to
us from Allah.
And then Allah azawajal will ask Nuh who
are your witnesses, and Nuh a.s. will
point to the prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam,
our prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam and this
ummah because of what we have in the
Quran of his story and his news.
And so the point is that Allah questions
the messengers, Allah questions the followers.
As Allah will question Isa a.s. as
we mentioned at the end of surah na
'ilah, Allah will question him and his mother,
did you ask people to worship you besides
Allah.
He will question the messengers, they will be
asked just as the people to whom they
were sent will also be asked.
And that is why Allah azawajal says in
And with full knowledge, for we were
never far from them, we shall tell them
that which they did.
Meaning the people will be held to account,
Allah knows, but Allah will question and ask.
And then there will be evidence that will
be presented, people that will come and bear
witnesses, the earth will bear witness, other things
will bear witness, and a person's own limbs
will bear witness as we mentioned previously already
in verses that are passed.
And so Allah azawajal knows, has knowledge, but
he will establish proof.
Allah knows and his knowledge will be sufficient
and if Allah chose to hold to account
based upon his knowledge alone, that would be
full of justice.
But from the greater, from the justice of
Allah azawajal also, is that people then have
no excuse.
They can't say, oh Allah, you judged us
yourself and there is no proof that we
can see that we are willing to accept.
And that is why as we mentioned Allah
azawajal will say to those people of disbelief,
who are you willing to accept as a
witness?
If you are not willing to accept the
angels, or the messengers, or the prophets, or
the believers, or anyone else, who will you
accept?
So Allah will say, will you accept yourself,
you testifying against yourself?
And that person will say yes, because never
can they imagine that they will testify against
themselves.
So Allah will seal their mouths, and their
hands, and their feet, and their limbs will
testify against them.
And so Allah azawajal will then place upon
them the punishment that they deserve.
And that is where Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala in the next verse, verse number 8
and then 9, speaks about the scale of
deeds and the weighing of those deeds on
Yawm al-Qiyamah.
Allah azawajal says,
On that day, the
weighing of deeds will be true and just.
Those who deeds are heavy on the scales
will be the ones to prosper.
Allah azawajal says that on Yawm al-Qiyamah,
Allah will weigh things.
And we know from a number of ahadith
of the Prophet ﷺ, that Allah will weigh
deeds, people's actions themselves, like the action itself
will be weighed.
Allah azawajal will weigh people's record of deeds,
so the record that's written of the counting
of the deeds of a person performed in
their life, that's also weighed.
And Allah azawajal may also weigh the individual
themselves, a person will be weighed on Yawm
al-Qiyamah.
And so Allah will weigh the people's deeds,
and that scale is an amazing scale that
is precise, to the most precisest measurement ever.
No one will be oppressed even in the
slightest, not even to the weight of a
mustard seed or an atom or a grain.
Rather Allah azawajal will hold on to this
or hold on to this accounting in the
most precisest of measurements.
But those whose scales then are good and
heavy, because their good deeds are weighed, their
They are the ones who
will be successful.
They will prosper.
They will be the ones who will be
saved from Allah's punishment and given Allah azawajal's
reward.
In verse number 9, Allah azawajal speaks about
those who are the opposite of that first
group.
And those whose good deeds
are light.
They will be the ones who have lost
their souls through their wrongful rejection of our
messengers.
On Yawm al-Qiyamah, because their evil deeds
outweigh their good deeds, then they will be
people who will be thrown into the fire.
And this is obviously after or with or
alongside Tawheed and Iman.
Because Allah azawajal, that's the first thing that
He weighs.
And if someone has shirk in their scale
of deeds, their evil deeds, even if they
have every other good, then it won't outweigh
that shirk.
And if someone has Tawheed in their scale
of deeds, then ultimately they will go into
Jannah, even if Allah azawajal chooses to punish
them for a while, to cleanse them from
some of their other sins in the fire.
So Allah azawajal will weigh the people, weigh
their deeds on Yawm al-Qiyamah.
Those whose deeds are heavier in the scales
of good will go into Paradise.
Those whose deeds are heavier in the scales
of evil, they will go into the fire.
And the final verse that we'll take today,
verse number 10, Allah azawajal then says, وَلَقَدْ
We established you on the earth
and provided you with the means of livelihood
there, small thanks that you give.
So Allah azawajal after mentioning this accounting of
Yawm al-Qiyamah and everything that will take
place, Allah reminds people of the many blessings
that He has bestowed upon them in this
Dunya, that Allah has given you so many
things and if you use those things that
Allah has bestowed you with, blessed you with
to worship Him, to have Iman, to live
in this life in a way that is
good and pleasing to Allah azawajal, then Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala will give you that
reward.
But if you use all of those things
and blessings that Allah has given to you
to show neglect of Him, to turn away
from Him, to reject and deny Him, then
those are the people that are shown little
to no gratitude to Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala, and they will be the people that
Allah azawajal will punish.
And with that we come to the end
of today's episode.
BarakAllahu Fikum
