Okay, Bismillah, here's the phone for your pictures,
alright, go for it, alright, Bismillah ar-Rahman
ar-Raheem, Bismillah wa alhamdulillah, wa salatu wa
salamu ala rasulullahi wa ba'd.
So, I'm going to read an introduction for
all of you from this beautiful book, which
by the way has been translated, you can
pick it up from Makkah Bookstore, it's called
The Sublime Characteristics of Prophet ﷺ, it's probably
one of the best books you can read
in English, to visualize Prophet ﷺ, if you
are a reader, I would highly recommend, it's
probably going to be like 300 pages, but
it's probably the best visual description that you'll
be able to read about Prophet ﷺ.
I have ordered something called Khulasa, which is
the summarized version of all the characteristics of
Prophet ﷺ, inshaAllah next week when you will
be here, we will get those books, and
the way we do this class is that
every person will get to read, so you'll
read a passage and you'll read a passage,
you'll read a passage and then I'll explain
that passage, kapeesh, kapash, kapeesh, okay tell me,
give me a suggestion, no we have to,
you went to the camp with me, in
Mina, okay, yeah but this camp we added
something new, yeah we went to the last
Mina camp, we did kapeesh, kapash, unless you
guys have a better suggestion, at a Mina
camp, at a Mina camp, at a, at
a Mina camp, at a, at a Mina
camp, at a, at a Mina camp, at
a, at a Mina camp, at a, at
a Mina camp, at a, no, I'm streaming
live, people are going to be like what
kind of tafseer class is this, this is
like guys, this is a special class, those
of you watching online, we have a lot
of teenage energy here, so you know, gotta
get hype, okay, so I'm going to read
the first chapter about the word shama'il
and what it means, okay, I'm going to
skip a whole bunch of things here but
then I'll also talk about why is it
necessary for us to actually study this science,
okay, so shama'il in Arabic language comes
from the word ash-shima'il, okay, which
means at-taba'u wal-jam', so at
-taba'u which means your natural disposition, okay,
each one of us, we behave differently in
different circumstances, true, each one of us, we
behave differently in different circumstances, sometimes we behave
like, you know, when you have a dawat
at home, right, it's at home, you're in
your home and your parents are like, you
know, behave, what do you mean I've been
doing the entire time?
No, no, special behave, right, behave like, you
know, insaan banna, insaan raina, right, you get
all of that special instructions, you know, there's
guests coming, don't fool around, don't goof around,
be a good Muslim, right, so shima'il
is basically the natural disposition of a person,
okay, Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, his natural way
of living, not something that he would orchestrate
or present because there is some special occasion,
the natural way of Rasulullah's life was so
beautiful, it was an absolute perfection, it didn't
need, like he didn't have to create some
special protocols because something is happening, his natural
way was so beautiful, so that word shima
'il is first your characteristics, the second thing
that shima'il also means is from shamila,
the cloak, which means for us to be
able to visualise because you and I do
not have access to Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
so how do I know how he looked
like, how do I know how tall was
he, what was his eyes like, how did
he walk, how was his skin texture, right,
as one of the Sahabi says, I have
never touched a skin softer than silk, Rasulullah's
hands were softer than silk, so if you've
ever touched silk, his hand, the skin texture
was even softer than that, right, so all
of these things will give us this ability
to understand Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam better, so
that's the general word, shima'il, now the
author he says, laisa al maqsoodu min jam
'i shima'ilihi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mujarrad al
ma'rifati ilmin taarikhiyin tamilu ilayhi an-nufus,
the purpose of us learning this knowledge is
not so now I have so much information
about the skin color of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, how he used to walk, his sandals,
his clothes, that's not the purpose, not to
gather information, information is not the purpose of
this class, right, and our hearts we start
saying, oh yeah, now I have so much
information about Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, but the
purpose is that we learn all of this
about Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and it has
numerous benefits, the first benefit the ulema they
say, is at-taladduhu bi-sifatihi al-aaliya
wa-sh-shama'ilihi al-radhiya Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, to be able to enjoy, so when
we talk about a specific characteristics of our
Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, your heart is
filled with joy that, oh that's how he
ate food, that's the type of milk he
liked, oh wow, I did not know that,
this is how, for example, one of the
things that he Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to
be able to do which a lot of
people don't know, he was able to see
at night, the way you and I would
be able to see at daytime, he did
not need light to see at night time,
night vision, right, he had literally night vision,
right, when you know that you're like SubhanAllah,
that's so amazing, when he would be standing
he was able to see, he was able
to see whatever he sees from his front
vision, the peripheral and all of that, whatever
he sees in the front, right, he's able
to see exactly the opposite from the back
also, he's able to see everything that is
happening around him, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
would show him a vision, whatever the case
was, once he was standing and he was
facing the Qibla and the Sahabas were at
the back and they were not standing in
a straight line, so he told them, straighten
your lines, you're not in a straight line,
so Sahaba was like, how did you know
that we're not in a straight line, right,
and Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, I'm able
to see, the way I'm able to see
from my front, I see you from my
behind as well, right, so when we learn
these things, what it does, it creates this,
when we learn about these things, we start
enjoying the existence of this Nabi of ours,
like, oh SubhanAllah, he had all of these
traits, I did not even know that, the
second thing is, we get close to him,
the more we know about these subtleties about
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, the more we're going
to get close to him, the more you
will be able to feel a connection with
him, the more you will be able to
appreciate, when Rasulullah's name used to be mentioned
to the people in the past, when his
name was mentioned, what would happen to the
people, you know, it is mentioned that some
of the Salaf, when Rasulullah's name would be
mentioned, they would start crying out of the
love of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, until you
were not able to even recognize who this
person was, because they remembered all of these
characteristics and they missed him, and they would
love to see him, they would love to
be in his presence, so the second thing
is, we get closer to Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, and we're able to
attract in our hearts the love of Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam through these characteristics, and we're
able to, on the day of judgment, because
we will be filled with that love, Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is going to be pleased
with us, InshaAllah, he will be pleased with
us, right, he will be, oh these are
the people who used to, you know what
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to say, once
he was sitting with the Sahaba, and this
is something for all of you, right, he
was sitting with the Sahaba, and you know
sometimes he's like, you know man, I wish
I could meet my friends, we say something
like that, so he's like, I wish I
could meet my brothers, so the Sahaba, they
said, Ya Rasulullah, like we're all here, we're
your brothers, so Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
Antum Ashabi, you are my companions, Ikhwani, my
brothers are those that are going to come
after me, they have not seen me, and
one of them will be willing to spend
his entire life savings to be able to
lay a glimpse on me, and they believed
in me, those are the people that are
going to be my brothers, right, he Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam longed to meet each and every
one of you, I wish I could meet
my brothers, he called all of us, the
current day believers, he said, I wish I
could meet all of them, he was looking
forward to meeting you, the question is, are
we looking forward to meeting him, right, and
the other thing that happens is we learn
about Al Kamalat Awsafihil Kamila, we learn about
this absolute complete characteristics of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam and his attributes, Wa Akhlaqihil Fadila, and
his absolutely perfect Akhlaq, perfect
characteristics that he would display in every single
aspect of his life, Wa La Shakka Anna
Jam'a Shamailihi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Nashrihi Huwa
Afdal Wa Akmal Min Madhihi Bil Qasaid and
what is more profound and better is yes,
we should have, we should learn some Nasheed,
we should learn some poetry in the praise
of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, it is necessary
for us, we should have some things memorized
that talk about the poetry, that talk about
the beauty of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, we
should always have something memorized, and it's highly
recommended, but to be able to learn this
science is more better and more profound than
others, and then the next benefit is
that if Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam did not
exist, what is the greatest blessing that you
and me as Muslims have received by being
from his Ummah, the greatest blessing, what do
you think it is?
What's the greatest blessings of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam coming, what was the greatest gift that
he gave us?
Nope, the greatest gift is that he Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam Inqadihi Iyana Minadhulumati Dhalalati Ila Anwaril
Huda Before Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam came, there
was utter darkness in the world in terms
of how we live our life, people did
not know right from wrong, people would bury
their daughters alive, they would burn their divorced
wives, like it was weird, people would fight
and kill hundreds of people for one life,
battles would go on for 30-40 years
between two tribes over one small issue of
water.
So from the darknesses of our lives and
the way that people live, Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam came and he led us Ila Anwaril
Huda, he led us towards the illumination of
guidance, he told us what's right from wrong,
he told us what is right and what's
wrong, he told us that colour does not
mean anything in the eyes of Allah Subh
'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la.
There is no superiority of a white over
a black Ila Bittaqwa, the only superiority that
lies is what is in your heart and
your Taqwa.
So all of that led this entire renaissance
of revival within the entire world because of
this Deen of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
And if he Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had not
come then what would have happened?
We would have lived a life that would
be without a purpose and we would have
lived a life in which we would not
have believed in Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, we
would not have believed in Allah Subh'anaHu
Wa Ta-A'la and if we had
not believed in Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la what would have been the consequences?
We would have entered into eternal hellfire because
of that.
But since he came, he guided us and
you became from that Ummah.
Allah chose you for that, that is the
greatest blessings that you have.
To be from the Ummah so you're saved.
Right?
And then, this is the greatest bounty that
he has given you and me.
That you have become worthy of eternal paradise
as long as you die on Islam.
What better gift can he give given to
us than this?
Right?
So that is why when we study the
Shama'il, it's like a drop in the
ocean towards us telling Rasulullah, we appreciate this
greatest gift of yours.
So hence we would want to learn a
little bit about you.
What's going on guys?
How are you going to run a household
bro?
I'm not my wife.
Your wife is going to be like, is
that going to be one of your conditions?
Wife must not be scared of a spider?
Ajeeb.
Is it done?
It's going to smell up your room and
just kill it off.
So then eat it.
It's not allowed.
You just went through all this stuff.
You killed it?
No, it's flying around.
It's gone.
Okay.
You can sit down.
It's okay.
People online that are wondering, just a spider.
Okay.
Okay.
Alhamdulillah.
It's okay.
We believe you bro.
Alhamdulillah.
Don't kill it.
It's a stink bug?
How do you know?
They live in your backyard?
You have such, you're such hospitable person.
Like please all spiders, come on down.
I won't kill you.
Some of the other benefits, you know,
Imam al-Shafi'i rahimahullah.
Guys, guys, guys, let it, Hashir, let it
go.
It's not going to say anything to you,
man.
It's okay.
Prophet ﷺ, he used to say, oh my
God.
What kind of guys are these?
They're all guys.
They're all grown men.
Okay.
Okay.
Guys, guys, it's okay.
This statement that Imam al-Shafi'i used
to say, may Allah ﷻ give jazaah to
Prophet ﷺ for the greatest gift that he
has given us, that he has saved all
of us from eternal damnation and hellfire.
Okay.
That's the greatest gift that he has given
us.
Okay.
And the last point that we have, that
when we know his characteristics, when we know
how he looked like, how he walked like,
what he dressed like, how did he travel,
when we know what was in his vanity
kit when he traveled, right, there's like even
to that detail.
Whenever he would travel, he used to have
a pouch.
What would be in that pouch of his?
What would he always travel with?
When we learn these things, what does it
do?
It automatically pushes us to love him even
further, right?
So it creates this intrinsic love for him
ﷺ.
And lastly, And what happens is
automatically you are filled with this unconditional love
for him, but that love, the consequence of
that love is what?
It propels you to follow.
So you don't feel that following Rasulullah ﷺ
is a burden.
You don't feel following or doing something that
he has asked you to do.
You don't feel it like a burden.
It feels like you feel joy because you
know who this individual ﷺ is and you
know when you love him, when you have
that intrinsic love for him, then following becomes
an automatic action.
You will be filled to food.
Inside you will be happy to do this.
Nobody will have to tell you, go ahead
and do this.
It will become a natural process, okay?
So those are some of the benefits of
the shama'il of Prophet ﷺ.
We'll stop in the next five minutes.
I don't know where our guest is, but
we'll see.
Yeah, we have a guest, inshaAllah.
I don't know if he's outside.
We'll stop over here, inshaAllah.
So next week, we will all have a
book, inshaAllah.
We'll read from that particular book.
I will be augmenting some of the information
from this book too.
So for example, if there's a chapter about
the eyesight of Prophet ﷺ or the physical
descriptions, then I will also have some additional
information that I'll be using to describe.
I'm hoping that around the fourth week, you
will be able to have a very clear
visualization of Prophet ﷺ.
In your minds, you'll be able to see
a very good picture of what he was
in layman terms, right?
Like in English language, so you can go
and talk to somebody about it.
And you can go and tell them that
when Prophet ﷺ, his wives used to say
that when he ﷺ would take off his
shirt, right, his stomach, his torso used to
be like what?
Crushed paper.
Right?
What are they alluding to?
So if you crush a paper and you
open it, what happens?
Wrinkles.
What are they telling us?
He had abs.
Good.
MashaAllah.
No guy who goes to the gym is
like, yeah, he had lots of abs.
Okay.
Then now you're going to be like, sunnah,
sunnah, sunnah.
He doesn't care.
He's like, I work in the gym.
I see sunnah every day.
InshaAllah.
So we'll do that, inshaAllah.
The person who's supposed to be coming, he
is a nasheed artist.
So he sings.
He's a nasheed artist and he's going to
bring his daf, huh?
I don't know if he's, I don't know
anything.
No, no, I don't think it's Nadir Khan.
It's somebody else.
But again, he's a nasheed artist and he
will sing some nasheed for us, inshaAllah.
Okay?
BarakAllahu feek.
AsSalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah.
Okay.
We'll end over here.
Oh, he's here.
