Dear respective
brothers and sisters,
with all due respect,
it's all good about
speaking in regards
to the month of Ramadan because we are
inside this month.
But also that which is very, very important
is
to speak about some of the current affairs
that take place in our communities,
because it's a problem, it's an issue.
Today, insha Allahu Ta'ala,
I wanted to dedicate
much of the Khutbah to some of our
youngsters who are going to be attending the
masjid.
I'm not here
to lecture you,
I'm not here to preach to you,
I'm not here to tell you how to
live your life,
To tell you what to do or what
not to do because,
I don't think it requires rocket science to
understand
what will help a person move on in
his life, what is good for him,
and what is going to drag him into
the ground.
But I just want to share
a story,
hoping that you can maybe take a lesson
from it,
and you can ponder upon it upon leaving
today.
You know, brothers and sisters, a couple of
years back,
I had a friend,
this brother called Shamaki Hassan, and I think
I've told it to some of the brothers
here before as well.
You type him into Google, he comes up.
This friend of mine, who is very close
to me, guys,
he was shot.
Why did he get shot?
Because of a postcode.
You have that this masjid
is allocated in a place called Eli 1.
In London,
the people used to kill and stab one
another because of a postcode.
When you receive a letter, it has your
address and then a postcode at the bottom.
This group is fighting with the other group
because of what?
These guys are n w one,
and the other guys are might be l
e 19 or l
19
because of a postcode.
I have a scar on the top of
my head
because of this postcode.
I have another stub mark here on my
shoulder because of a postcode,
and another one on my finger.
All of these because of what? A postcode.
For years, the parents in that area,
place called Camden.
Type into Google and you will see this.
The parents, the Somali communities there,
they couldn't do nothing about it. But sometimes
you find that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make
something take place.
You know, you might dislike something, but Allah
ends up bringing out Allahu khair out of
it.
Perhaps you might dislike something but it's good
for you.
And you might love something and it's not
good for you. But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
knows and you don't know.
I was told about the incident that took
place a couple of weeks ago,
while I was still abroad,
and I was on my way to
the exhibition, the book fair.
When I was told this, because obviously some
of the people are involved,
one of them was
a brother, his older brother was very very
close to me.
We lived in the same area for
maybe tens of years, and
it affects you. Why? More because you know
this individual.
You know, guys, if we just contemplate and
ponder on this matter,
as to some of the reason why we
might fight,
why we might
do all these crazy stuff that Allah of
the youngsters are doing.
And in the end, you look at the
reason.
Is it a reason that
is really worth it?
The reason why I mentioned this story guys
is when
when all these gangs used to fight one
another,
sometimes when you get a phone call, a
guy he travels maybe from
the other side of London to go and
attend this fight.
When he was shot, do you know what
happened guys?
All this time when everybody was fighting for
his friend,
nobody done absolutely nothing.
No one done anything.
So one of the questions I asked myself
is, tomorrow if I get stabbed or if
I get shot, is anyone is everyone just
going to just sit back like this and
no one's going to do anything about it?
People were stabbed in order to what?
To gain a bit of street credit.
To be known on the streets that this
guy is a
individual who is hard
and all sorts.
All of these guys brothers and sisters
because of a postcode.
The moral behind the story guys is
wallahi, we really really need to think.
Sometimes we're so indulged in Maasi,
in evil deeds
and it becomes so normal. And you know
why it becomes so normal? And the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam told us.
When a servant,
he falls into a sin,
what happens?
A black dot is put on his
heart.
Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
Then the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa'alehi was telling
me if this individual then
If he makes tawba to Allah Subhanahu wa
ta'ala and he also repents and he says
is Ithighfar,
his heart is purified and is cleaned.
Baby goes back to his sin that black
dot is
put on top of his heart again.
And there's another hadith that tells us
Until the person's heart becomes
1 of 2 types,
Either his heart becomes white and pure
or his heart becomes black
and
hard.
When he sees something good, he doesn't acknowledge
it.
And the evil that he sees around him,
again he doesn't acknowledge it.
It's just become totally normal. He doesn't disapprove
of it.
It's become part of his life because he's
become so indulged in sins and Maasi.
You know guys, if we rectify
this piece of flesh that is between our
ribs,
everything else becomes rectified. This is why the
prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam told us
If this heart now, this piece of flesh
becomes rectified, everything else becomes rectified. It becomes
corrupted, everything else becomes corrupted.
You're going to find yourself
doing so much things and you don't even
realize it, become normal, it's become part of
your life.
This is the heart,
we are a people guys who have given
so much concern
in trying to perfect our outer appearance.
Then we might spend maybe half of the
day in the gym,
the guy is so strong they can bend
the bar in the middle That's how strong
he is.
Half of the day or even more we
spend at the gym. I'm not trying to
say it to you, don't become healthy
or don't
try, you know, look after yourself.
But imagine we gave a bit of that
time in trying to concentrate on our hearts.
This heart is the only thing that Allah
cares about.
Allah doesn't look at the way you look,
by your bodies.
He looks at your heart and also at
your actions.
You know brothers and sisters, one of the
ways to maybe soften your heart
and to come back down to earth
and to realize the situation that we're in
is to go and visit the graves.
And maybe if you go and visit the
graves
It'll be the reason why
you come back to reality
that you understand why you are actually in
this world.
Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said,
It was narrated by my Muslim. Fazuruh,
I initially stopped you from going to the
graves
but now I'm going visit it.
He gave an extra piece of information in
that which he narrated, he said it will
remind you of the akhira.
Then Ibn Umajah, he had an extra piece
of information.
He said, what is a person
overlook the worldly pleasures.
When you go and visit the grave and
you realize
that sooner or later you're going to be
10 feet down,
all them dollars and £0 that we're chasing.
And majority of the time is through a
haram way.
That is not going to enter into your
grave.
It may make you realize.
Uthman ibn Affan, he used to stand in
the grave and he would cry so much
until his beard became soaked with tears.
You know, they said to him,
You Uthman,
you don't cry when the nar and the
when the nar is mentioned,
but you cry when the grave is mentioned.
You know what he said?
That the kabr is
The grave is from the first steps of
the akhira.
If a person now becomes saved,
inside his grave, and if he goes through
an easy path,
everything else
will become easy for him as well.
Remember brothers and sisters,
there's going to be a day
when you enter into the graveyard, you're not
going to come out.
There's going to be a day when you
leave your home and you're not getting back
home.
When that brother passed away alihirahmatullahi,
we all carried him on our shoulders.
There's going to come a day you're going
to be carried on your shoulder, on the
people's shoulders.
There will be a time when you're going
to be remembered.
Today the people are going to mention your
name.
There's going to be a time when you're
going to be forgotten.
That which remains then is you and your
lord.
When you stand in front of him,
all these worldly pleasures that we're chasing,
These people that we know guys that died
before the month of Ramadan.
They weren't able to reach this. What guarantees
you that if you leave this message, you're
going to maybe last another hour?
Brothers and sisters,
there's a lot of people here.
After that incident, they wanted to change. They
wanted to start a better life
but sometimes they don't have direction.
And what a better month
to currently find ourselves in.
This opportunity that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is
giving to all of us.
Allah
wants to forgive you but
everyone else
they want you to to follow your desires.
Without the shadow of a doubt guys all
of us have shortcomings
we all have sins
We all have mistakes.
Like the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam told us
All of Bani Adam, there are people who
excessively make mistakes,
and the best of those are those who
make tawba to Allah azza wa jal.
Make this a month where you come back
to Allah aza wajal
and you ask him to change and make
yourself a better person.
Is that which we all want.
This is the month guys when the doors
of Jannah are flung open and the doors
of hellfire are slammed shut.
And the Shaitans are shackled, they're chained.
Every means has been made easy for you
to try and come back to him. So
take this opportunity that Allah has thrown
you away.
Alhamdulillahi
Brothers and sisters,
and this is mostly down
or an adjustment to the parents.
You know time and time I've seen
that parents because of how bad their kids
behave,
they are very quick
in making du'a against them.
Not in all cases, but you find that
this is present
and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala tells us in
the Quran,
The person he makes an evil dua when
he should in fact be making a
a good dua.
But you find that the insan, he's very
hasty.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
he told us in hadith,
3 invocations, they are always going to be
accepted, and there's no doubt in it.
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam
he
said,
The invocation of the oppressed one or the
one who's been oppressed,
the one who's been oppressed, you oppress me,
I'll make du'a against you,
it could get accepted straight away.
And the dua of the person who is
traveling, the traveler.
And the third one that was mentioned,
And the dua of the walid, the parents,
against his son, against his child.
There's another narration that says,
The invocation
of the parent
for his child.
Do you see the difference between the 2?
He could either make dua against him and
it could be the reason why he never
becomes guided again or he could make dua
for him
and you ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to
rectify that child
who has
driving you crazy,
was driven you crazy,
rugged.
And it could be the reason why Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala accepts your dua.
You know, there's a story guys,
you know
that
one of the famous A'imah
of the Haram previously,
the dark skinned imam called Al Kalbani.
There's a story that he mentioned and he
used to go around WhatsApp all the time,
some of you may have seen it. He
was a very, very naughty child
when he was young.
You know, his mother,
she always used to make duay for him
every time he done something evil
or he dived her mad,
she would shout to him by saying, oh
Allah, may Allah make you
the imam of the Haram.
Until one day he became.
And this was a naughty child as he
mentions it by himself.
Regardless
of some of the issues revolving him,
the Ibrahim with the story that I mentioned.
You have
also
another prophet I heard one of the masha'i
and sirudia mentioned,
he was a student who was studying in
Umar Qura,
the famous University in Makkah.
Before exams
he's really striving,
most of you don't know how a person
strives before the exam and the hard work
that he puts in.
What happens guys he asks
his dad to allow him to leave in
the night to go and you know,
get some fresh air, to go walk around
a bit.
But the father was a bit possessive, he
didn't want to let him go out because
he was late,
and he kept on persisting
until he went to his mother. He told
his mother
that he wants to leave so the mother
now intercedes for him to the father.
The dad gets upset
he says go and may Allah not return
you back.
And what do you think happened?
He ended up getting hit by a car,
the father doesn't know, he's waiting a couple
of hours, he doesn't come back, He waits
till Fajr is not here. He goes to
the Bele Adia,
and they tell him, you know, there was
an accident here and there, you know.
He goes, and he finds that a kid
that was hit was
and you understand from the hikmah of these
guys
a very powerful statement and I'm going to
conclude with this
what Fudayil ibn Iyad he mentioned.
Fudayil
ibn Iyad, the great Tabi'i, the individual who
met the companions,
he said,
if I had one
accepted dua, a dua that I know that
would be accepted.
I wouldn't have made that dua except
for the ruler
because if you make dua against him, you
ask Allah to do halak,
In Samali they call it Hawar and Inkar.
Against your son or the Amir, even if
he's from the west of the people, what
do you expect
for him to happen if he's oppressing you?
He's likely to become more worse.
This is why they said,
you know,
if the ruler becomes rectified,
The country
and also the people become rectified
just through making dua to this oppressive ruler.
This is how the salaf back in the
day. This is how they thought the tabi'ayn,
tabi'ayn, tabi'ayn.
You know, brothers and sisters from the Khosusiyyah
of this month is a dua, and I
benefited this from one of the masaikhin al
Madina coach Shekadir Zaqal Badr.
You know, when you look at the Ayatul
Siyam and Surat Al Baqarah
talks about what,
then the next Ayat, ShaharuRamaman,
3rd
ayah,
The 4th ayah, again, it talks about siam.
So you have 3 ayaats
that sandwich the ayah about the dua, when
my servant he asks
about me, I am close.
I will respond back to him.
It's one of the months, guys,
this month
that which is special to it is the
issue of a dua.
So we need to strive guys to try
and make as much of much much dua
for our kids
those who have passed
those who Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has decreed
that they passed away
our kids who might be all over the
place.
When the month of Ramadan was coming people
were looking as Ramadan as even say Musiba
They were saying
When do you
say When
When a Mosayb calamity befalls you, you say,
17 hours, how am I gonna fast 17
hours?
Rather guys are blessing in disguise.
17
hours, you have the chance to make dua,
to put your hands up to him.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, he said,
3 people that dua won't be rejected. Al
imamil Aadel wasawihata
yafturah
watawatilmagrum.
1 of those that was mentioned was the
individual who is fasting until he breaks it.
Some of us might think my dua might
only be accepted at the time of breaking
a fast.
The Prophet said, Asayim Hatayaf Torah,
the one who's fasting until he breaks it.
So you have 17 hours to ask Allah
Azza wa Jal for whatever you want for
rectification,
for guidance
and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala won't reject your
dua.
Insha'Allah Ta'ala on Sunday after the lecture,
I'm going to have an open session with
the kids
you know, to maybe encourage your kids to
come, they have any issues privately they wanna
discuss,
we can sit down and we can discuss
it because also another issue that people have
is they don't feel comfortable going to the
people, they don't there's not people available for
them to talk to.
