Sisters, I'm recording this video on the 31st
March,
one day before the day that a lot
of people call April Fools Day,
which, while Allah has absolutely no basis in
our religion, if anything, it goes against the
religion of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
due to what it consists of.
Brothers and sisters, there was a time when
I remember I think a couple of years
back,
I didn't actually know the date and
I woke up,
someone phoned me telling me that
their parents had dropped
off the balcony and they had died.
And obviously, that's going to bring a big
shock to anyone that knows the individual who's
saying the statement.
It'll bring a big shock to a person.
Things like that, brothers and sisters, you find
that it is very very common, especially on
days like this.
Is this something that the Sharia allows
someone to joke about his parents dropping off
a balcony?
And whatever it might be, any statement
that is attached to a lie.
Firstly, brothers and sisters, we need to understand
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave a lot of
emphasis when it came to sitq.
1 to be truthful in His statements Allah
Azzawajal says,
And be from those that are truthful.
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has told us
that lying is a means of you not
getting that guidance that you're looking for.
Sometimes we search for guidance, but that guidance
doesn't come to us. There's reasons why that
guidance doesn't come to us.
Allah says,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala doesn't guide the individual
who lies excessively.
Even if it is a joke, it is
something that has been prohibited in Islam.
We see it to be something very small.
Just uttering it, it might take a few
seconds. The prophet
told us
For indeed lying,
it leads to wickedness.
And wickedness, it leads towards the fire. And
a person keeps lying until he's written down
with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to be from
the liars.
Fana jaa Allahanatallahi
Al kardibeen Allah says, and we
put the curse of Allah
upon those who lie.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has quoted those when
they have gathered to do Mubahala
when it comes to the issue of lying.
So you understand from these ayat
These
verses from the Quran and these ahadith from
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, the danger of
lying. It's a major sin
because you have the threat of the hellfire
upon it, And Imam Ad Dabi
mentions it in his kitab al kaba'ir.
Lying when joking.
Brothers and sisters,
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
he told us in
Woe to the individual
who when he speaks, he lies in order
to make the people laugh.
Isn't this
in accordance
to what the people are doing today?
Especially on April fools day, that which they
call April fools day.
One comes, he lies about his parents dying.
One comes,
he lies about his car crashing.
One comes,
he lies about his sister, he lies about
his brother, whatever it might be.
And he might even cause shock to a
person.
Imagine the shock that a person gets.
That shock that he gets. That could be
the reason why he ends up suffering
in his health.
How many people have you seen?
They are told that the son has died.
He becomes shocked.
He ends up getting heart problems.
Mental illness
due to that which has been told from
the get go.
Or he might even end up getting something
called shalal, which means that one faints,
drops to the floor and then he's not
even able to get into the
same position that he was in before. It
has a detrimental effect on a person's health.
Let alone joking about it brothers and sisters
In this regard.
So the prophet he
said
after that he said woe to him, woe
to him. He gave emphasis to it. He
repeated it twice.
In another hadith, the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam said,
I promise a person
a house in the middle of Jannah.
If he leaves off lying, even if he's
joking.
And he came in another hadith, the Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said
It is not permissible
to lie
in times of being serious and also in
times of joking.
And it is not permissible for a person
to promise his kid
something and then he doesn't accomplish it.
The hadith was narrated by Imam al Bukhari
in
his kitab
So as you can see, brothers and sisters,
it is not something that a Muslim should
participate in.
And you can see that it can have
a detrimental effect on a person's health and
likewise it has a detrimental effect on a
person's religion. Allah told us to be from
those that are truthful.
For indeed being truthful, it leads to a
person being
pious,
one having piety and then it leads to
Aljannah
as the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam told
us.
Brothers and sisters,
we hear the advice.
It's upon us to act upon it, to
implement in our lives and be from those
who the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said.
Whoever calls the guidance for him is the
reward of everyone that follows Him on that
guidance and it doesn't take anything away from
his reward.
