My dear respected brothers and sisters with the
last 10 days round the corner,
my brothers and my sisters we all are
trying to attain something.
When we enter into the month of Ramadan,
there's something that we really really badly wanted,
and that was the monthfir of Allah
the forgiveness of Allah
When you look at the many hadith that
speak about some of the activities
and actions of the month of Ramadan,
you find that there is something connected to
it. The messenger Surah Alaihi Wasallam, He said
in hadith
Whoever fuss
with iman and also Ihtisaab.
Whoever stands in the night with Iman and
Ihtisaab,
and who also stands
on the laylatul Qadr, the night of Qadr
with
iman. Meaning, Musaddiqaambiwa'adillahi
a zawajal.
This individual
he believes firmly in the promise of Allah
a zawajal and also Ihti Saavan.
Solely seeking the reward of Allah aza wa
jal, this individual is going to be forgiven.
My brothers and my sisters,
if we want to be forgiven,
there is something that we all have to
do, and we have to change.
On the last 10 nights, we're going to
be hearing the imam
making the dua that the messenger salawahu alaihi
wa sallam taught Aisha radhiallahu ta'ala Anha.
She said,
If I come to know when Laylatul Qadr
is going to be.
What do you advise me to say? Ma'aqulu
feehaqulu.
He told them to say, Allahumma innaqaafu
went to hilbulaafwa
Faafu Ani.
Say, oh Allah,
you are Afu. You love to pardon so
pardon me.
There is a very important benefit my brothers
and my sisters that Ibnurraj ibn Hambali. He
derive from this,
And you can find in the kitab called
Latay from Ma'arif.
One of the nicest books that you can
ever read.
He says, Al Afu woman Asma'illahi
ta'ala.
Afu is from the names of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
And it is him who overlooks
the sins of his servant
and wipes it away.
He loves
to forgive
and pardon his servants.
And he also loves for his servants to
forgive one another. And here comes the catch.
If they forgive one another, then that's when
he's now going to forgive them.
That he pardons them is more beloved to
him than him punishing them. I'll repeat the
last part again.
If they forgive and pardon one another, then
that's when he's going to forgive them.
We're going to be crying our eyes out
on the last 10 days
begging Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive us.
My brothers and my sisters, there's something really,
really that we need to do about ourselves
first.
We have to learn to forgive one another.
And this is exactly what the messenger
said. He said,
Have mercy
amongst one another,
and Allah Azawajal is going to have mercy
upon you.
Forgive one another
and you're going to be forgiven. My brothers
and my sisters,
if we look at the people of the
past,
one thing that made them
the greatest of those in that time
was this characteristic
that is from the characteristics of the people
of Jannah.
Those who forgive one another and Allah
loves the good doers.
Let's look at Abu Bakr
He had a cousin called mister ibn Uzzazah.
My brothers and my sisters, when mister
made hijrah from Makkah all the way to
Madinah,
his only source of income was Allahu Akbar
radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu.
They did not have child tax credit, or
benefits,
or job seekers allowance.
His only source of income was Abu Bakr
radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu.
Mister Ibn Wazadeh
was from those who participated
in the slander that was spread about Aisha
This was before he made talk to Allah
When the ayat started coming down the verses,
freeing Allah has freeing Aisha radiAllahu ta'ala ana
from Islam.
He said before that my brothers and my
sisters,
He swore by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that
he's not
going to spend anymore
on mister.
It's serious.
We would really really struggle, right, If somebody
spread a slander
about our female relatives, whether it is the
wife, whether it's the daughter, whether it's the
mother.
I remember in secondary school if somebody says
something about your mother, the tables were going
to be flipped.
And for you not not to do something
about it, you will be seen as a
wuss.
It was shunned upon.
And likewise now,
somebody says something about your wife
that's going
to really annoy the life out of you.
We're going to struggle to even maybe see
this individual.
Tables are going to be flip, jaws are
going to be broken, blood is going to
be shed
because of the ghayrah, the protective jealousy that
a man has.
Abu Bakr radiAllahu ta'ala anhu held himself together.
All he said was,
I will not spend on him again.
Then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, he send down
a verse
when he sent that statement.
Do not let those people of virtue.
Who Allah
has given them a lofty position.
Swear
that they are not going to be spending
on the muhajreen.
Forgive and forget. Turn the page.
Do you not love for Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala to forgive you?
My brothers and my sisters,
every single year somebody comes and tells me
something similar to this.
Recently I was told
about a mother and also her sister.
They're not speaking to one another.
They've cut relationship with one another.
Why?
Because the mother didn't tell her sister,
or she wasn't the first one to know
that her daughter is getting married.
She told her 2 weeks later
and by that time she already found out.
I heard it from the markets. This was
the answer
or this was a response. I heard from
the markets that your daughter is getting married
and because of that, I'm upset.
Over a year they haven't spoken.
Some of us might still be holding grudges
because of maybe some tribal issues back home
that happened with the great great grandfather,
and then he was passed down. And because
of this we still have what?
Some bad feelings in our hearts.
Some grudges that we're still holding.
My brothers and my sisters,
Wallahi if you wanna be forgiven, we really
really have to start with ourselves.
I'm not going to stand here
and talk like as if this is an
easy issue. Wallah, it's not.
I personally really really struggled
and sometimes I still struggle
to just forget about those who smile in
my face and they're stabbing me my back.
That's the type of individual who comes to
you
and he doesn't like you. And you know
this guy speaking about you because he doesn't
like you.
And then the other guy who smiles in
your face, and it is so so difficult
to forgive that individual.
But you have to do jihad on your
nafs,
strive against it.
And if you really really wanna do something
about it, Allah is going to help you
do something about it. Allah says,
Those who strive in my way then I'm
going to guide them to that which is
correct.
Allah then says in Surat Al Anfa,
If Allah sees
you trying to change something about whatever is
in your
heart. He is going to give you the
khair that you really really want.
So it starts with the nafs. My brothers
and my sisters,
just to show you that this is not
an easy matter and you wonder to yourself
why this was one of the 3 good
deeds that doesn't have a limit
on its reward.
One time the mess sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
was sitting with his companions and
he said,
They will now come on onto you guys
a man
from the people of Jannah.
And this happened my brothers and my sisters
three times.
The same individual entered 3 times when the
messenger said that.
So Abdulai ibn Amr ibn Aas, the great
companion that he was.
He wanted to be from the people of
Jannah as well. So he went to this
individual. He said, I wanna spend the night
with you.
Thinking maybe he's somebody
who stands up a lot in the night
because we know Piyam ul Layl is one
of those actions that is going to get
you into a Jannah.
So he became surprised.
In the end, he said to him, I
didn't see you do many actions.
As he was about to leave, he called
him again.
And he said something very, very powerful to
him. After he said to him,
it is only that which he saw. When
he asked him what exactly do you do
different from everybody else?
Then he said to him,
When I go to sleep,
I go to sleep not having any grudge
for my brother.
And I also have no envy
towards an individual that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
has blessed with some khair.
You know Abdulai Nair ibn Nasser said to
him,
This is what caused you to reach such
a high position.
And this is that which we find so
so difficult with.
My brothers and my sisters,
If they forgive one another, then that's when
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
is going to pardon and forgive them.
Abu Bakr radiAllahu ta'ala anawhat did he say
at the end? When the ayah came down.
Yes,
by Allah.
For indeed by Allah,
I love that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgives
me.
And that's the kind of response my brothers
and my sisters we should have.
When the ayat,
the verses,
the evidences are brought to us,
it can be really really difficult.
But this is
what makes you distinct from everybody else.
It is only
the statement of the believer
when he is now called to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and also his messenger Sallallahu
Wa Salam
to make a judgment.
He says,
I listen and I obey.
Sometimes as they say, you gotta be the
bigger man.
And the messenger Sallallahu Alaihi was telling me
he told us in the hadith,
And the best of the 2,
those individuals who have maybe, you know, had
a problem with one another is the one
who starts with the salaam. And it really
really takes a month to go after an
individual even though he's been oppressed
to do something about it.
And this is from the greatest of characteristics
the messiah is on to us.
Whoever cut the relation
ship between you and himself
from your family members,
you go and tie it.
Whoever deprived you of something, you go and
give it to him.
And forgive that individual
who oppressed you.
My brothers and my sisters, an individual called
Hasan al Basri was from the salaf.
And when I say salaf, I intend by
the early generations.
Who the messenger
prays,
The best of the generations
are my generation.
And those who came after them from the
Tabi'in,
and then those who came after Tabi'in.
They are the people that we need to
try and be like.
Those who the messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam spoke
about,
and those who Allah mentioned in the Quran.
From those who followed them up in goodness.
Allah is satisfied with them and they are
satisfied with him.
So Hasan Al Basri, my brothers and my
sisters who was from the most tremendous of
the Tabi'een
would stand up in the night and he
would make a particular dua.
My brothers and my sisters, we all know
how difficult it is
to stand up in the last 3rd of
the night.
It's the pleasure that we all want to
taste.
When Shirkuh Alaihi Salim Al Baytayhi he
mentioned,
In this dunya there is a Jannah, there
is a paradise.
Whoever doesn't enter into this paradise,
he will not enter into the paradise of
the akhirah.
Some of the scholars they differ, some of
them they said that the intended purpose between
the intended purpose behind Ajahnahya is of the
dunya
is qiyamulay.
Some of them said the Jannah was salah.
Some of them said the satisfaction
that a person puts himself through when
he goes through a calamity the river
that he has after being patient.
My
brothers and my sisters,
it is a Jannah when a person wakes
up in the night
and he's calling on to Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala and everybody's sleeping.
And when we do manage to wake up
my brothers and my sisters, we have what
a whole list
of things that we really wanna ask Allah
azza wa jal for. And rightfully so. If
we don't ask Allah who we're going to
ask?
We wanna utilize
them couple of minutes that we have.
It's a messenger
of Allah said, doesn't ask Allah
He becomes angry with him. So we wanna
please and satisfy Allah
by throwing all our questions towards him.
My brothers and my sisters will stand up
in the night
and he would make his dua.
Oh
Allah, forgive the individual who oppressed me.
And he would keep repeating this.
One time a man, he walked past his
house.
He was in the middle of the night
making this dua.
He kept on repeating it so much. The
man went up to him and he said
to him,
I began to wish that I was from
those who oppressed you.
I repeat that again my prophet Mas'ud is
saying
I began to wish that I was from
those who oppressed you because you're making so
much dua for them.
Maybe if I make dua, I might not
necessarily accept my dua.
But you who is making this dua in
the last 3rd of the night,
where the dua is most likely to be
accepted.
And Imam al Shirk said,
the dua that a one makes in the
last word is like the arrow that doesn't
miss his target.
So he asked him why is it that
you do that?
He said,
Whoever forgives and pardons,
then indeed his reward is with Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
So my brothers and my sisters, these are
the type of individuals
who enlighten the world,
who were an example
or who are an example
for every one of us here today.
If we wanna be part of the same
sect, we have to try and be like
the lights of Abu Bakr Radiallahu ta'ala Anhu.
Right?
And the rest of those
who follow them up on goodness from the
tabi'ayn, the tabi'ir tabi'ayn,
from the golden generation.
And this month my brothers and my sisters
maybe somewhere where we could stop.
Some months have changed, right? We hear all
the time
and the scene has been set for us.
This is when the hearts
are the most softest.
If we wanna maybe implement something into our
lives, introduce something into our lives, or rid
ourselves from bad habits,
it's maybe this month.
The Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam he said,
When the month of Ramadan ended,
the doors of Jannah
are swung open.
The doors of hellfire,
Haslam shut And the shayateen are chained, they're
locked up.
Sometimes someone asked the question, why is it
still that people are sinning?
Even though the shayateen have been locked up
people are still doing bad things.
One time I heard an explanation from a
Sheikh he mentioned
because people still have these bad habits before
the month of Ramadan
even while the shayateen are locked up.
It has become so instilled into the attitudes
and into the behaviors
that it still carries on
in the month of Ramadan.
And my brothers, we should really ask ourselves,
we can't change some of these habits in
the month of Ramadan. When are we able
going to when are we going to be
able to do so?
When everything is calling you to go and
do well,
to do better in your life.
