Our ummah today,
2022.
It is as if all of these reasons
as to why
these people were destroyed
are all found
within our ummah,
On a very wide scale.
We tend to complain a lot.
We moan and we groan.
This is happening,
so and so is doing this, so and
so is doing that.
My beloved brothers and sisters,
we can sit around feeling sorry for ourselves.
However,
if we don't take practical steps,
And being a cause of all of this
filth being removed off the face of this
earth,
don't be surprised.
And I always mention this as an example.
Our kids tomorrow,
and their kids
are doubting what pronoun they should be using.
When you look at the rainbow team, my
brothers and my sisters,
even
though there are minority
on the face of this earth.
The LGBTQ
minority.
By the way, I'm not inciting violence
or harassment towards anyone.
I spread peace and compassion.
If you look at this minority,
even though subhanAllah they are
so few in number compared to everyone else.
However you go on to social media,
go on to social media,
they come across as if they are the
loudest group
that you can come into interaction with. The
loudest,
and the biggest in number.
And that is because my brothers and my
sisters, and I really want us take this
away.
I really really want everyone here
to reflect on this one point which is,
the majority of them, if not all,
are playing an active role
in standing up
for what they hold as morals and values.
They are inviting the people to it. You
see them on their marches,
on their rallies.
They do
no shyness the way they are dressed.
At every opportunity you see the rainbow team
inviting the people to what they stand for.
This is them
so proud.
That's why they call it pride month, right?
So proud of what they stand for.
Let's now compare that to us, my brothers
and my sisters, Muslims.
Umayd sitting around,
feeling sorry for themselves,
complaining,
This is happening, that's happening. My brothers and
my sisters, we need to get up on
our 2 feet.
And do something about it by doing what?
By learning
our religion.
And after learning our religion, we are calling
the people to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
I asked our Sheikh,
the boss said yesterday,
one of our brothers, he embraced the Islam.
Right? What do you think that tomorrow's should
be? He says, Speak about Dawah.
How much are we in need of us
learning our religion?
And then calling the people to what is
right my brothers and my sisters.
Right?
Every single one of us has a role
to play
in establishing this religion, my brothers and sisters.
One may think
that I only do dawah if I want
to become the next big speaker in the
city, or if I want to do khudbas
Allah azza wa jalim my brothers and my
sisters.
He gave us a number of examples. The
Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam gave us a
number of examples.
We had the companions,
some of them were extremely wealthy,
Right? They went full time du'ats.
When you think about it compared to some
of the other companions,
if you look at
those who narrated the most hadith,
who's at the top? Abu Hurayrah As Al
Arabi mentions this, Abu Hurayrah
As in Iraq, he mentions this Alfiya, the
majority
of the hadith that were narrated came from
Abu Hurairah.
I believe it's 5,340.
And then Abdulai ibn Umar. Did you know
that the 4 Cani fights,
They weren't in the top 5.
La Abu Bakr, Wala Umar, Wala Uthman, and
Ali.
They were
carrying out different roles in the community.
And you had some who would spend more
time delivering the message of Allah than others.
But everyone had a role to play my
brothers and my sisters.
Right?
We want to do something about it less
now my brothers and my sisters.
Stand
up and learn our religion.
And then we call to Allah Sometimes
I get a phone call and then the
mom is going crazy. Why is she going
crazy?
My son all of a sudden is doubting
Islam.
Or he is doubting
what pronoun he should all of a sudden
be using.
Right?
And then the mother, she wants someone to
start eating ruqih on him.
She thinks he's lost the plot. He's become
Mejnun. No, he hasn't become Mejnun.
We've taken them to these zoos. I call
it a zoo. These schools,
right? These universities,
right? It is a breathing ground for all
types of feminism,
liberalism,
rainbow, whatever it might be. This is a
breeding ground for it. And because we haven't
gone out our way to study, and then
to teach them,
let's not be surprised my brothers and my
sisters.
I want to quickly go through a number
of components that I think everyone should bear
in mind.
When calling to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, number
1,
people don't read anymore brothers and sisters,
they watch.
People don't read anymore, they watch.
Right? They are looking at your conduct.
How many brothers and sisters they became
Muslim.
And one of the main reasons that they
state is, O Masha Allah Subaraka Allah, look
at the brotherhood,
look at the sisterhood amongst Muslims.
Right?
This is what attracted them to Islam.
When they now compare it to the life
of the disbelievers,
and how they carry themselves is a huge
difference.
You might not necessarily realize but our non
Muslim friends, we can have a huge impact
on them.
By just how we conduct ourselves.
I know a brother who was running the
drug dealing industry in East London.
He wasn't just some random guy who was
what? Selling drugs. This guy was like the
kingpin.
3 of his non Muslims became
Muslim. You know why? Whenever the time of
the salah kicks in, he stops the car,
takes out the prayer mat and he starts
praying.
They were like, this guy's onto something. He
never gets arrested. He's become Muslim as well.
A conduct goes a very very long way,
brothers and sisters.
Right? It's upon us to really, really take
this
into consideration.
We are ambassadors of none other than prophet
Muhammad
Right?
When you decide to make your hair a
certain way,
or you wanna pull your trousers, remember,
you are that Muhammad.
You are that Aisha.
You are a representative
of Al Islam.
Muhammad ibn Abdullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
You are carrying his religion because of you
identifying as a Muslim. People are looking at
you as a Muslim.
The next point that I want to mention
my brothers and my sisters,
when we give dua to Allah
don't think that it's going to be an
easy ride.
It is not easy.
Especially if we are giving dawah
to our own relatives.
You just became a Muslim or you started
practicing.
That zeal that you have, you want to
save everyone within 24 hours. It's a normal
feeling to have.
But remember my brothers and my sisters, the
Eiffel Tower wasn't built in 24 hours, it
takes time.
And this is a huge lesson that we
can take
from the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam's life.
If you look at
the sallam, my brothers and my sisters,
those who gave him the most
difficult time
was none other than his own relatives.
Isn't that so brothers and sisters?
The incident happened in front of the Kaaba,
right?
When the messenger of the Prophet tried to
invite
his people to Alissam, his uncle Hadith Aliyah
Jalatina,
in front of everyone humiliated him.
Is this why you gathered us?
He began to what? Insult and swear at
the messenger salallahu alayhi wa sallam. And then
sort of the message came down,
He was given a very very hard time.
But when he went to Al Medina, there
were more people who are ready to embrace
him.
Right?
It's not easy my brothers and my sisters.
I've heard statements such as,
Right? I used to clean your backside.
And now you wanna tell me what is
right, what is wrong? And sometimes even Tumab
al-'in who have gone abroad,
right? To study. Don't expect when you come
back that people are going to roll a
red carpet in front of you, ready to
accept your dawah. That all the life doesn't
work like that. It really really does it.
Like I said, it is the hardest type
of dawah.
And
it requires a lot a lot of patience.
I had an auntie who is mockni.
So after I came back, studying abroad, right?
Whenever I said something,
he brought us a new religion.
Right? Up until we went on Hajj, this
is how many years later.
And every Hajj, when we take the group,
I dedicate a whole session
just for women because they have a lot
of women related questions.
She saw people older than her,
her age, and those younger. All lining up
to answer the quest ask their questions. Only
then, okay, now I need to maybe listen.
Think it was easy my brothers and my
brothers being laughed at, being ridiculed.
Right? This is the inspiration we take from
the Quran, right? You look at Nuh alaihi
sallahu alaihi sallam.
Three prophets that really really
inspired me, my brothers and my sisters. Because
of the amount of difficulties they went through.
You have Musa Alaihi Wasallam, Noosh Alaihi Wasallam,
and none other than our prophet Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. And when the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam was going through these difficulties, Allah would
send down
these stories of these prophets to inspire him,
to make him feel better.
We know that which they keep saying about
you, oh, Mohammed is hurting you.
Right?
And then Allah will tell you, He
He would give him Allah would give him
coping mechanisms
to ease the pain that he's going through.
Right? Every time a group of people walk
past him while he was building the ark,
they would make fun
of
him.
If you continue to mock us, there will
come a time when we will have the
last laugh.
Right? And the messenger is being told this.
He's taking inspiration from it.
My beloved brothers and sisters,
something as small as smiling.
If we have the proofs and evidences, why
do we need to get angry?
You have the hujah and smile. Did you
know my brothers and my sisters,
The great Imam,
Shaikh Irrahmatullah Alaihi, used to overpower
his opponents
by smiling.
Whenever they would come with doubts because he
knows he has the evidences.
Right?
The last thing that we are in need
of is someone getting angry because he doesn't
have the answers.
And just because you don't have the answers,
it doesn't necessarily mean that they are right.
This is an important principle especially for university
students.
Just because
you don't have the answer, it doesn't mean
that they are correct. Go and ask. There's
no harm in saying, listen brother, I will
come back to you.
Right? I'm a new Muslim.
I'm someone who just started practicing. I'm sure
there's an answer because our religion, my brothers
and my sisters, is what
it is comprehensive.
We are not perfect but the religion of
Islam is so perfect my brothers and my
sisters.
Right?
Remember,
people are looking at you. Oh, this is
how a Muslim reacts,
The moment you get angry and remember
anger
is one letter less than
danger.
People go crazy at one another because of
something as small as this.
And then you are portraying Al Islam in
a very very negative light.
Next point, my brothers and my sisters.
Let's stop looking at numbers, my brothers and
my sisters.
Sometimes and I can understand
that we feel extremely demotivated
at only a few coming to our classes.
Or only maybe a few listening.
Right?
Allah
to these people, how long do you stay
with them?
900 and 50 years.
950 years.
He was inviting them to Allah to stay
away from shirk.
How many believed in him?
Those who believed in him were only a
few. A few in number.
Right? Some scholars said 60, some said 70.
Right? It takes time.
And don't expect like I said before, that
everyone is just going to enter into the
religion of Islam wholeheartedly
the moment you start giving dawah to
them. Right? Someone that always sends to touch
me, my brothers and my sisters, is
who was the black Mufti of Mecca.
So if he had a story, he says
about him,
When he passed away, he was the one
that the people were most satisfied with.
Right? And those who used to attend his
classes were none other than maybe what?
7, 8, 9 people.
But he continued.
And now you find him
mentioned in the books of Tafasih just about
on every other page.
He continued, right?
He didn't say, You know what? There's only
1 or 2 people, let me call it
a day.
Right?
Something even more touching, subhanAllah, is
mentioned. He said,
in the year 13 95,
when Ibn Basrah Matullahi Alay Asha Abdul Aziz
Mbas came to Riyadh,
we sat with him. And he said, the
most that would attend his classes were 10
people. It's Abd al Aziz al Imbas.
And this continued all the way to the
year 1400.
Which is what? 44 years ago, right?
Likewise, Ibnu Jibrin.
Maybe one guy would sit in front of
him and he wasn't even Saluti.
But sheikh Abdul,
the the sheikh in Njibreen, he would continue.
He would continue teaching.
Right? The sheikh then goes on to say,
The scholar must be tested
He must be tested with just a few
people coming to his classes.
And this test is to see as to
whether
this individual
is going to be truthful, he's going to
be sincere, he's going to continue.
And then after that, the people will be
sent by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to attend
the gatherings of this individual.
Right?
We all hear about his books and his
works, right?
This man, my brothers and my sisters, is
a reference point for just about every student.
Right? At the beginning,
only some would attend 3, 4 people. And
then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala one day open
the door for 100 and 100 to go
and attend his classes.
Right?
Don't be demotivated by just 1 or 2
people listening to you. It could be that
2 individuals
or that 3 people
that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala makes them a
source of benefit.
Right?
And the evidence in all of this is
that the scholars
took away
from these points. The messenger
one time he was given a Khutba.
As he was given a Khutba, a caravan
came pass.
They all got up except 12 people.
But the messenger
continued giving dua.
Right? He continued giving dua.
To conclude, my beloved brothers and sisters,
Allah is
Allah tells us,
Call to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Call to Allah, not to yourself,
not to your organization,
Not to your masjid, but to Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
Right?
And it has to be done with basi'ah.
It has to be done with insight.
Learn your religion.
And learning your religion, my brothers and my
sisters, takes time.
Even if you did a little bit every
day, I don't care what your background is.
Even if you are the biggest drug dealer,
right? You're the one who's carrying out the
most major of sins. Learn a little bit
every day.
Everyday, inshallah, you will see these raindrops
will end up becoming like a huge sea.
10 minutes everyday.
Get a playlist, add videos to it, perhaps
inshallah, it'll be a source of guidance.
Right?
And every time you teach someone, my brothers
and my sisters, remember,
this is the legacy that you're leaving behind.
Right?
Don't exchange it for anything.
Remember brothers and my sisters, whatever work we
are doing,
whatever university
degree that we are pursuing.
And I say this as someone who went
to university.
Moment we enter into that grave, you are
not taking your civil engineering degree with you.
Think about your legacy, my brothers and my
sisters.
The cemetery in Saffron Lane is open too
late.
Right?
Go and take a visit.
Stand over the grave.
Right? And think about how you might end
up losing everything at any moment.
Any moment, my brothers and my sisters, and
that what's really going to matter is what
you are leaving behind.
There is hadith that isn't commonly mentioned. Right?
Where the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam, he said,
And he mentioned 6
things. The first one that he mentioned, my
brothers and my sisters, was this is the
saying this.
Right?
A knowledge that you learned which you then
spread.
Let me give this example and I will
conclude with this
Teaching your child
or someone who just became a Muslim
Every time he reads
my brothers and my sisters,
you are getting the reward for it.
This is the legacy that we really really
want.
That is going to continue after we are
well admitted into the grave.
And nothing else would really count when you
think about it.
