When we've done a sin, how can we repent?
Assalamu alaikum
about this, I'm speaking to you from the blessed city of Mecca. Many of us feel trapped in sin and feel like there's no way out. And some even have a negative perception of our Creator when it comes to repentance. Now it's important for us to understand the mercy of Allah in the right context. Firstly, we have to know that every one of us since the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said Coulibaly, Adam kata were halal. In a taboo, every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent, narrated by Timothy so we all sin. As humans, we all make mistakes. But when we sin, what should we do about it? Firstly, we need to pick ourselves up, not just remain in that
state of sin. Also, we must never lose hope in Allah and give up no matter how great the sin is. Allah is more merciful to us than our own mothers and fathers. Allah himself has said that his mercy overcomes his wrath. Allah says in a Hadeeth Guzzi, Oh son of Adam, so long as you call upon me and ask of me, I shall forgive you for what you have done. And I should not mind Oh, son of Adam, even if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky, and were you to then ask forgiveness of me. I would forgive you, all son of Adam, were you to come to me with sins similar to the earth? And were you to then face me ascribing no partner to me, I would bring you forgiveness similar to that Allahu
Akbar. This Hadith was narrated by Timothy, in another Hadith kotse. Allah says, if my slave comes nearer to me by a hand span, I go nearer to him by an arm span. And if he comes nearer to me by an arm span, I go nearer to him for the span of outstretched arms. And if he comes to me walking, I go to him running. And this hadith is in ohare. In the Quran, Allah says, when you remember me, I remember you, my brothers and sisters, from one soul to another, he forgives our sins from one Juma to the next, he forgives our sins from one onra to the next, he forgives our sins. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, when a Muslim or mortman slave of Allah makes will do when he
washes his face, every sin that his eyes have committed wash away with the water, or with the last drop of water. When he washes his hands. every sin his hand has committed is washed away over the last drop of water. And when he washes his feet, every sin that his feet walk towards is washed away with the water, or with the last drop of water until he finishes making widow free of sin Subhana Allah, this hadith in Sahih, Muslim, these are just a few of the countless times where Allah is Forgiving our sins over and over again, in so many ways. Look how merciful our Lord our Creator, Allah is. But the real question is, are we willing to take up the offer that Allah is giving us all
the time on a daily basis? It's important to understand that many scholars believe that the sins mentioned in the Hadith that I just quoted, refer to the minus ins for major sins, we must make sincere repentance we must turn back to Allah. So how can we repent from our sins? Well, there are four conditions to repent to Allah for sins. Number one, regarding the past, we must have remorse for it, we must feel real sorrow and sadness for what we did. that's to do with the past. Number two, to do with the present, we need to stop doing that sin straight away. Number three, we should make a firm resolution about the future and promise to Allah not to make the same mistake and commit
that sin. Again, one of the ways we can do this is that we change our environment, or change our company or friends. Or if we have a problem with certain apps, we should delete those apps. Or if we have a certain problem with our phone, then get rid of the phone, whatever it may be. Change your environment, change your company of friends and the fourth condition
Have a repentance is that if we have committed a sin against someone else, then we should ask for forgiveness from them to and rectify the wrongs that we did. If we owe them money, then we should pay them back. It's important to understand that when it comes to the rights of people, Allah will only forgive us. After those rights of other people have been fulfilled. It's also important to understand that if we have back bitten someone, and there's fear that if we tell them, there will be more harm than in that case, we should at least make to offer that person in private, and speak well of them in the same gatherings where we had that bit. And then another thing to bear in mind is that
we may fall into the same sin again in the future, even though we initially made a firm resolution to avoid that sin again, when we repent. But even if you fall into the same sin again, we shouldn't lose hope or despair, from the mercy of Allah. The key thing to understand is that we should be sincere each time we repent. Anytime we fall into sin, we have to repent again, and we should continue repenting for everything we do, until we leave this world. As I mentioned, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu Sallam said, all the children of Adam are sinners. And the best of the sinners are those who repent, brothers and sisters. We can't imagine how merciful Allah is. Did you know that
once we repent sincerely, not only does Allah forgive us of our sins, but he can also convert our sins into good deeds? Stop. Think about that. The sins that you did because you repent for them sincerely, and promise not to do them again. Allah will convert them into good deeds, Allahu Akbar, how amazing how great is Allah? Finally, it's important to understand that Allah's mercy shouldn't be mis interpreted, Ally's extremely merciful and forgiving, but he is also severe punishment. Allah's mercy doesn't mean that we have a green light to carry on sinning, and all we have to do is just repent. No, we must sincerely try our best to avoid sinning. So let's make a resolution to
sincerely repent from our sins, whether they are major or minor sins, and let's strive to be better Muslims by making more effort in righteous deeds. I'm your brother Assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
