Also due to bad news, can I start
by praying standing up and then sit on
a chair when it's time to go down?
You see, let me explain this in a
bit of detail.
If the way the Hanafi Fuqaha have determined
this is that standing has only been legislated
so that you can go into Ruku or
Sujood from it.
If you can't do proper Ruku or Sujood,
then you don't have to stand essentially.
So this idea that if I'm going to
sit and do my Ruku by bowing, so
basically the way you do Ruku if you're
sitting down is that you bow a bit,
you just make a slight movement and then
you make more movement for your Sujood.
You don't have to go all the way
down.
It's just basically the head movement, Ruku and
Sujood more and maybe just move your back
slightly.
So if you're missing Ruku or Sujood anyway,
you don't have to stand up at all.
You just sit and pray.
I might as well mention there's some people
who like to bring something on their face
like that.
The Fuqaha said that there's no such thing.
Now if it makes somebody feel good and
they put something there like a pillow and
they actually go down like that on it,
then that would be okay but it's not
recommended.
The recommendation is that you just move your
head.
Imaa bi raasihi.
Basically gesturing with your head and a bit
with your shoulder.
That's all you have to do.
I do want to mention though that it's
not allowed to sit and pray on a
chair if you can sit on the ground.
A lot of people, they don't even bother
trying on the ground.
The Asal in all the books classically speaking
never was a chair used apparently.
You don't have any records of that.
People used to sit on the floor as
mentioned in all the books and you basically
stretch your legs out towards the Qibla.
It's the only time that's not bad adab.
And you basically make a movement like that
and you sit and pray like that.
Only if you cannot sit on the ground
like that is it allowed on a chair
but most people just sit on a chair
nowadays.
