AI: Summary ©
O you who have believed, fear Allah and
say a firm word that will amend your
deeds and forgive you your sins.
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has
won a great victory.
After that, the most truthful hadith is the
Book of Allah and the best guidance is
the guidance of Muhammad ibn Abdillah, peace and
blessings be upon him.
And the worst of things are its innovations.
And every innovation is an innovation, and every
innovation is a misguidance, and every misguidance is
in the Fire.
Alhamdulillah, we praise Allah, we seek His aid
and we seek His forgiveness.
We seek refuge in Allah from the evil
of ourselves and of our bad deeds.
Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide.
And whomsoever Allah allows to be led astray,
none can guide aright.
And I bear witness that there is no
one worthy of worship except Allah Ta'ala,
the Exalted.
And that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon
him, is His last messenger.
O you who believe, be mindful of Allah
and die not except in a state of
submission to Him alone.
O humanity, be mindful of Allah who created
you from a single soul, and from that
created His mate, and from that scatters many
men and women.
O humanity, be mindful of Allah and do
not cut off relations with your relatives.
Indeed, Allah is the monitor over you, the
overseer, the ultimate overseer over you.
O humanity, be mindful of Allah and speak
the truth in order for Him to accept
us of our deeds, accept our deeds and
forgive us for any of our shortcomings.
And whoever obeys Allah and His messenger has
indeed achieved the greatest achievement.
As to what follows indeed the best speech
is the book of Allah, subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
And the best guidance is that of Muhammad,
peace and blessings be upon him and all
of the prophets.
And of the worst affairs of our doctrinal
system are the newly invented ones.
For every newly invented affair in the situation
of our belief and how we actualize that
belief is considered an innovation.
And for every innovation is a form of
going astray from the straight path.
And every form of going astray is in
the fire of *.
And we seek refuge in Allah, subhanahu wa
ta'ala, from that.
I have a story of someone that maybe
have considered a fugitive.
Someone that did something in the name of
justice but was on the run at a
particular time.
Someone that we may have heard of in
our life as Muslims.
We may know other people that have a
similar situation but as a matter of fact
all of us, all of us have had
a similar situation as this illustrious individual.
And all of us because of this situation
have a huge opportunity to increase our confidence.
And many of you think right now when
I say confidence and shut my mouth, it's
confidence in ourselves.
No, I mean something much more foundational than
that.
Confidence in Allah, confidence in Allah, confidence in
Allah.
Because someone may have confidence in themselves and
that could lead to them being arrogant.
Someone could have confidence in themselves and that
could lead them to polytheism.
Because they may worship their Hawa.
Allah says in
the Quran, Have you not seen the person
that takes his or her desires as their
Lord?
Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala is the one that we, inshallah, by
the permission of Allah, by implementing the Deen
of Islam to the best of our ability,
He's the one we have confidence in Him,
we go all out for Him.
And the best way of going all out,
exhausting ourselves, our anfus, our efforts for His
sake.
Because we trust in Him, His names, His
attributes.
We trust in what He says, we trust
in His speech.
That will by default, automatically bring forth confidence
in us.
Confidence in ourselves, confidence in what He has
brought, confidence in the Deen of Islam, confidence
in the Sharia.
And we have seen this time and time
again.
We have read about it in the time
of the Prophet ﷺ.
We hear about it in the sermons and
in the reminders.
We see it on the media with what
is happening in Gaza, in Jinyang, in Sudan,
in Kashmir.
We see these people that have confidence in
Allah.
They have trust in Allah.
They rely on Allah, really, not just lip
service.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions in the
chapter of Taha, the story of this individual
that inshallah, we have shared some of these
experiences when he says, after I seek refuge
with Allah from the accursed Satan, when he
starts off the chapter of Taha, when he
says, Allah says,
Taha, these are letters that Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala chooses to reveal for many different
reasons, but it's ultimately or initially or generically
to show that Allah has the authority to
mention letters, and it has a profound meaning.
Or to mention letters that we may not
know the meaning.
Or to mention letters to show our confidence
in the message that follow the letters.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, we have
not sent this Quran down for you to
be saddened.
Who is he initially speaking to?
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Revelation.
Wahi.
And he relates to all of us, starting
with him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, a story
about confidence.
When he speaks about this individual who I
was referring to, Musa alayhi salam.
When Musa alayhi salam, before he was Prophet
Musa, and what he faced.
We find this in the chapter of Qasas.
But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala kind of
gives us the end story and then reminds
him of how he got there.
When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions when
Moses told his family, Moses
was in a blizzard leaving from the town
of Median.
He wasn't a prophet yet, and he was
in a cold blizzard, and he saw a
blazing fire.
He told his family, stay here.
Verily I see a fire.
Maybe I will get with my staff, I
will get some of this fire.
I will take from the staff, with the
staff, some of this fire.
And I will use the fire from the
staff to help us on our voyage, our
journey.
Allah says, when he arrived to the fire,
Musa was called out, oh Musa.
Allah told him, Take your sandals off for
verily you are in a blessed valley.
And that's what scholars mention sometimes when coming
into the masjid to take your shoes off.
But the sunnah, the sunnah is to pray
with your shoes on.
To pray with your shoes on if there
is no type of qadhara, any type of
najasa on your feet.
If you are outside, you pray with your
shoes on.
That's the sunnah.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala told Musa
alayhi salam, Verily you are in a blessed
valley.
Then he says, Verily I have chosen you.
So listen closely.
To listen with full attention.
Then Allah reveals himself.
He says, Verily I am Allah, or he
says, Verily he is Allah.
There is no one worthy of worship except
me.
Worship me and establish the prayer.
This is so foundational for us as human
beings.
Why?
Because Allah firstly revealed himself.
Firstly, each and every single one of you
asked yourself, When was Allah really revealed to
me?
For me, for example, it was 1996 when
I chose to embrace Islam.
For our youth, it probably hasn't happened yet.
Let's be honest.
15, 16, 17, they're doing things and they
want to know the answer to everything.
But when it comes to who was Allah,
explain who Allah is to me, They'll say,
you know, they're not even able to explain
who God is and who he is not.
Children, teens, do yourself a favor and take
the opportunity to read the Quran.
If you can, cover to cover, great.
If you can, one verse a day, great.
Do yourself a favor, because you're a teenager
now.
You're held accountable in front of Allah.
And don't blame your parents.
Because you are a man now.
You are a woman now.
And you're held accountable for sleeping till 10,
12 p.m. And you haven't prayed Fajr.
Adults, even worse.
Even more of a responsibility.
Allah revealed himself to Musa with that revelation
of who he is for each and every
single one of us.
Once we know who Allah is, Well, Alhamdulillah,
you're Muslim.
Well, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.
Well, I wouldn't even be here if I
was a Muslim.
How many of us have taken the opportunity
to learn about Islam and to be honest,
to convert to Islam as born Muslims?
That is a responsibility and Allah wants you
to come to him.
So Allah revealed himself.
And then what did he say?
What was the responsibility?
So worship me.
How do I do that?
So he said, Verily, I am Allah.
There's no one worthy of worship except me.
He established the faith decree.
And then he said, So worship me.
So worship me.
How do I do that?
The first thing is establishing the prayer.
What is the benefit of praying?
To remember me.
Brothers and sisters, when you establish the prayer,
this is one of the strongest ways to
establish and maintain your spirituality.
I'll just use a generic word in the
beginning.
Your spirituality.
But a strongest way to maintain your servitude.
We want the spirituality to move over to
servitude.
To where when you stand in front of
Allah, you literally feel as though Allah is
in front of you.
To worship Allah as though you see him.
And though you do not see him in
reality, know for a fact that البصير The
all-seeing sees you.
So this is the first thing.
When he chose Musa as a prophet, to
establish the aqeedah, to establish the faith, to
establish the aqeedah, to establish the strong connection
to God.
And that is the seed of confidence.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says here,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
says that he has established the prayer for
him to remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And the story goes on due to time.
I'm going to skiffle a couple of verses,
but I want to get to the point.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, after establishing
who he is, remember Moses has a staff.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala asks him, وَمَا
He asks Moses, what
is in your yameen, your right hand?
He said, this is my staff.
He says that what?
I rest on this staff, and
I guide the animals.
The sheep.
To move them in their direction.
And I have other chores and things that
I do with it.
مَآرِبُ أُخْرَى He told him, إِلْقِهَا يَا مُوسَى
To throw the staff.
So he threw
the staff, and it turned into a serpent
that moved.
A sliding snake, serpent.
Allah
told him, check this out, listen.
There's a serpent that's moving in front of
Musa.
He turned his staff into a snake.
It was a miracle.
But a miracle is normal for Allah.
How many miracles have happened in our life,
brothers and sisters?
How many miracles have happened in our lives?
How many staffs have been turned to serpents?
And we're scared.
But then Allah says, Hold
on to your deen.
Hold on to your faith.
Hold on to your religion.
Hold on to your morals.
Hold on to your principles.
Hold on to your identity.
Hold on to what Allah has given you,
and you've taken the opportunity to stick to
it, but we fall short.
Hold on to it.
Like a burning coal, as the Prophet ﷺ
gives an example.
Allah says, take it and don't be scared.
Why?
Because of that confidence in Allah.
So each and every single one of us,
the confidence comes and goes.
We're human beings.
But how many of us are making that
effort to establish or to maintain and strengthen
that confidence?
So Allah ﷻ at this point, He has
chosen Musa, as someone says, Mount Sinai in
Tuwa, where He chose Musa as a prophet,
عليه السلام and He told him to throw
the staff وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ and He told
him to throw the staff and the staff
turned into a snake and then Musa عليه
السلام saw the miracles of Allah سبحانه وتعالى
He said, He said take
it and we will return it to its
original form.
If you take that snake, we will turn
it back to a staff.
Then He tells him another,
gives him another task.
Put your hand inside of your pocket, some
scholars say, inside of his other hand, under
his armpit, his left armpit, and then to
pull it out and it will become illuminating
white as another sign, آيَةً أُخْرَى Why?
So we can show
you from our great signs.
So firstly, Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى very clearly,
when Allah revealed to a man named Musa,
who was on the run because of an
act of justice that he did in Egypt
earlier, the story with Fir'aun, you can
find it in the chapter of Qasas.
When he was on the run, Allah chose
him as a prophet because of his sacrifice
and Allah أعلم why He chose him.
Definitely we know because of his, he was
the most from أصلح الناس, the most righteous
of people as the Prophet
وسلم mentioned when he chooses the prophets.
He chose Moses.
The first thing he did, which is the
first thing for all of us brothers and
sisters, is to know Allah, our Aqeedah, our
belief, our connection, our acknowledgement, and then our
implementation, knowledge.
To know Allah and then to act upon
that knowledge.
To know Allah and then to act upon
that knowledge.
The مَغْضُوبِي عَلَيْهِمْ Some scholars mentioned the one
that Allah is angry with are the ones
that have the knowledge and don't act.
The misguided ones are the ones that
act with no knowledge.
Islam came to give you the intellectual exercise
and the spiritual exercise together.
So here he is telling Musa to act,
to establish the prayer, to throw the staff.
He showed him both of the signs.
Take time brothers and sisters and at least
choose two signs in your life.
I don't know how this happened to me.
I didn't have any money.
I was on my death.
I was very very sick.
This individual came back.
Subhanallah.
This individual passed away.
This is important.
So Allah showed his signs and then what
did he tell him?
He gave him the responsibility.
Go to Fir
'aun for verily he has transgressed the bounds.
Then Musa
Alayhi Salaam mentions here, Oh Allah, I see
this task that I've been given.
Expand my chest and make my affair easier
for me.
And take this lisp, this lisp out of
my tongue.
Musa had a lisp.
In order for them to understand me.
And provide me with
a minister.
Someone that can help me.
My right hand man.
Upon this situation.
My brother Aaron.
So make him, allow him
to assist me with my strength.
Make him strong when he is with me.
And allow him to be
someone that participates with me in this particular
effort.
Or this particular task.
Why?
So we can glorify you
much.
And we can mention you and
remember you much in this task.
So here Musa Alayhi
Salaam, he is aware of the responsibility.
But he has confidence.
He is aware that he is scared.
In other chapters of the Quran he mentions
he is scared.
It's okay to be scared when you are
worshipping Allah.
To have that fear when facing
someone, when you're going into a job interview,
when you're meeting someone that may have a
level of power.
That fear is there.
The fact that you fear at the moment
is not خَلَل في عبادتك.
It is not a deficiency in your Aqeedah.
Not in all cases.
There are some cases where it could be.
But in this particular situation, خَوْفَ الطَّبِعِ This
is natural fear.
I am facing a tyrant.
You're telling me to go to him?
He's killing off the young babies
because he doesn't want them to even compete
with them if they get older.
So Musa is scared.
Then Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى says, you know, to
do this, in order for you to have
Aaron so you can mention him a lot,
mention us a lot, and glorify us a
lot.
For verily, we are watching.
We want to do this.
For verily, you are someone that watches over
us.
You are the overseer.
And he understood that.
Allah says,
verily, you have been given your request.
So Allah tells him that he's been given
his request at the moment.
And then Allah reminds him of the situation
like, look, I showed you miracles.
I'm choosing for you as a prophet.
I showed you miracles, two miracles, right, with
the staff and with the hand that illuminated.
And then I gave you a task.
You ask me for something, I grant it
to you with this task, your artillery, how
you're going to move.
And then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala reminds
him of how he got there in the
first place.
Allah reminds him of how he got there
in the first place.
When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is addressing
the fact that his mother was told to
throw him in the river or the Yam.
And Yam is like the deep sea or
someone say deep river.
Right, so he throws him in, to throw
him in the tabut.
To throw him in
the tabut and he will return.
As Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions in
That Allah tells
Moses' mother, put him in a wooden box
in the deep sea and let him go.
If that's not confidence, when were you tasked
with a wooden box to put something that
you value and let it go?
Mothers watching our sons go off to college
to a different state.
Fathers watching our daughters to leave school or
to go and come back home.
There is that type of example.
Similar.
So the question is, how were we raising
them before that happened?
Look at Moses' mother, how she raised Musa.
Because before Musa was a prophet, he accidentally
killed somebody out of justice, of wanting to
see justice.
And he didn't mean to.
And because of that Allah chose him.
So Allah gives him that first reminder that
his mother was someone that was told to
go in the tabut, told to put Musa
in the tabut and will return him.
The second reminder, when Allah mentions after that,
when your sister, because Moses was captured by
Fir'aun, the wife of Fir'aun, Asiya
was one of the believing women.
And she said, let's take him in.
They took him in, they raised him until
he became of age.
And then Musa, that's when he was older
and saw the injustice, accidentally killed the person
and then went on the run.
He was in Fir'aun's house because Fir
'aun found him.
Out of all people, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Al
-Alim, Allahu Al-Hakeem.
Allah is the greatest, Allah is the most
knowledgeable and He is wise.
And we are listening to the wisdom in
action in this chapter, in these verses.
So when they saw Musa,
Asiya tried to find someone to breastfeed Musa.
Musa was refusing as a young baby.
And his sister said,
I know someone that he may accept.
Subhanallah.
And then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,
and we returned you to your mother.
Listen, listen fathers and mothers.
We returned you to your mother
So she can have a level of
sakinah and tranquility because she sees my baby.
She sees my baby.
I've missed him so much.
Oh Allah, I trusted in you.
I believe that you'll bring him back safely.
I believe that you'll bring him back with
the deen because I've done my best and
that's all I can do.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
here mentions two beautiful blessings, reminders.
Stop for a minute brothers and sisters.
As Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions in
the chapter of Rahman
And which of the signs of your
Lord will you deny?
It's called an ayah because an ayah is
a sign.
It is a sign to remind you of
the blessings of Allah, of the glory of
Allah, of the blessings of your health, your
wealth, your family, everything that you have.
Things that have been taken away from you
that you don't even probably know that could
have been harmful for you but Allah stopped
it before you even encountered it.
So many things that we don't even know
could have happened to us.
So many things that have happened to us
and as I mentioned, we forget about more
sins than we remember.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is reminding
Musa these two situations.
I got you covered Musa.
As a matter of fact, how you got
here I know, let me tell you.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has brought us
here today, Yawm al Juma'ah, in the
masjid, in AC, in good health insha'Allah.
But most importantly, in good spirits.
And those good spirits is remembering Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala's blessings and allowing that to
strengthen our wherewithal, our faith, our allegiance, our
trust, our confidence in Him.
So may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make
us of those that are confident in Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us
of those that use the instruments of strengthening
that confidence by holding firmly to the Quran
and holding firmly to the sunnah of the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us
of those that when we make a mistake
because of our confidence in Him, we turn
back to Al-Ghafoor, the All-Forgiving, Al-'Alim,
the All-Knowing, Al-'Afood, the Pardoning.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us
of those that when we make a mistake
because of our confidence in Him, we turn
back to Al-Ghafoor, the All-Forgiving, Al-'Alim,
the All-Knowing,
