Al hamdu lillah wa Salatu was Salam ala Nabina Muhammad wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa seldom at the Sleeman Kathira rubbish roughly solder a wire certainly Emery wash Lula raka data melissani of Cabo Cali Amara
big brothers and sisters Salam alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
we begin by praising Allah subhanho wa Taala we praise Him, we seek His help and we ask for his forgiveness. We send our salutations upon the Beloved Prophet Mohammed ignore Abdullah Sall Allahu alayhi wa sallam, his family and his friends. We should also take this opportunity to thank Allah subhanho wa Taala for allowing us to be gathered here together in this beautiful Masjid Masha Allah, it's been quite a while for me to be here. Hamdulillah I live in the real area. So there's quite a bit of massage it's there. But it's great to see that there is a mess to heal hamdulillah and I know that we try to organize a few talks before but unfortunately COVID hit and we had to do it online
but it is for the Yamo of Allah subhanho wa Taala that he allowed us to be gathered here today again, and we just performed the salah to another live in Jamar it's a great blessing from Allah subhanho wa taala. So I ask Allah subhanahu wa Tada to bless each and every one of us. And I asked Allah subhanahu wa taala to gather us in general for the dose, I mean,
the topic for today is the Quran, my God.
And we all know
that Allah subhanho wa Taala sent down this Quran upon our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, over the 23 years in his lifetime. And this Quran is our guide.
But a lot of us Subhanallah have forgotten the essence of the Quran.
A lot of us we give importance to the RE citation of the Quran, which is great.
But we forget to give importance to the understanding of the Quran.
And that's what the topic will be about today in sha Allah, I want to begin the talk with a little story. It's actually a little snippet from a film.
Chef, you watch a film, you watch movies, it's not really a movie from Hollywood, or Bollywood or anything like that. It is actually a snippet. It's short films that have been made by it's an it's a production studio from Pakistan. And they actually made this film to teach people Islam through scenarios, it's actually quite good. And one of the brothers sent me this snippet, and he said, You better watch this. It's pretty good. So it's about this Pakistani man
who travels from Pakistan and goes to America to study.
And when he gets there, when he lands in America, what happens is the security officers, the customs officers, they take into the corner and say, Listen, this is a random check, random search, we need to take you away his name was, I think, was Mohammed OSHA con, something like that. So they took him to the corner. And they said, we want to do some random, you know, check, you know, with you. So they took into a room.
And they asked him a couple of questions. You know, why are you here? How long are you going to be here for? And he answered? He said, I'm here for studies going to this university, so on and so forth. Then they said, Can you open up your bag, we want to check your bag.
So you open up his bag, and he was taking a few items out one at a time.
One of the items he took out was a must have a Quran.
And then the security officers they said what is what is this?
He said this is the Quran, our holy book. And he tried to explain it to them, you know, like, like, the Christians have the Bible. You know, we have the Quran, it's a way of life for us. It's a guide for us. Just like the Christians have the Bible, how to pray and so on and so forth.
So he looked at the Quran and everything was written in Arabic and the security officers, you know, they don't understand Arabic. They said, can you read the Quran?
Or can you read the Quran? They said, he said, Yes, of course I can read it.
So the man said, can you open up a page and read it for me? So you open up the page of a Quran just in the middle of someone with a beautiful smile on his face. He started reciting
and after he read a few verses a few
Two lines, the security officer said, Well, what does it mean? When I don't understand Arabic? Can you explain what you just read?
All of a sudden, the brother just went quiet.
I don't know.
And the security officer is like, what are you talking about? You don't know. You just read so fluently, a passage from the Quran? And what you don't know what it means? No, I'm sorry, I know how to read it. But I don't know the meaning. How can you read something and not understand it? It's like, if I read an English book, and I don't understand what I'm reading, how does that make sense?
So it was basically a little film that makes you realize, I am a Muslim. I can read the Quran I've been taught how to read the Quran. But I don't know what I'm reading. How does that make any sense? You know, with our children, when they go to school, they learn A is for apple, there's a picture of an apple.
B is for ball is a picture of a ball. And they start visualizing things. They start learning things from a very young age. But we don't put that effort for our children. What about Arabic letters? What about Arabic? Arabic words? What about all of those things? What about words from the Quran, being a Muslim, or part of being a Muslim, is to have a bit of understanding of the Quran, or have a bit of understanding of the Arabic language that's just a part of being a Muslim. It comes together with it Subhanallah
even though we don't understand it, but Subhanallah the Quran is the most widely read book in the world. And we know this. But Quran is also the most widely read but not understood book.
It's the most widely read, but also the most widely not understood book Subhan Allah and of course that is mainly because majority of the Muslims in the world are non Arabs. But that doesn't give us that excuse.
Allah to Allah created all of us, and he actually called us that we are the greatest among Allah subhanho wa taala. He says, going to Pharaoh met in Oak Ridge bottlenose
that all of you are the best nation meaning all of us the ummah of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, we have been created as the best nation. Why? Because that will not be my roof. What and how national bunker were taught me No, no bill,
because we enjoy the good. We teach others about goodness about what is halal about what is right. And we forbid from what is evil, what is bad, what is haram? And we believe in Allah subhanho wa taala.
But how can we know what is good and bad? Without understanding what Allah tells us what is good and bad? How can we do that?
When these verses were revealed, of course it is known by the prophets of Allah, Allah salamander Sahabas that the people the Muslim ummah, will understand good and bad from the Quran, and that is what they will be preaching. So therefore we need to understand that Allah to Allah tells us that we must be able to understand the Quran, of course, maybe not 100% but to understand the important aspects of the Quran in order to lead our lives.
How is the Quran used today?
If we look at it, and the points that I'm gonna say, there is nothing wrong with it. It's actually good. But it's the misunderstanding of the people of how the Quran is supposed to be used. Now we know that the month of Ramadan is upon us, it's just knocking around the corner. It's almost here
and that is the time where you will start seeing Muslims finally picking up the Quran.
You will start seeing Muslims finally downloading the Quran app on their phones. You will finally see Muslims giving a bit of importance of Quran in Ramadan. Why? Because they know the verse shahada Madonna lady on Zillow V Hill Quran the heat is many times and it's a great thing that they understand that bit.
But they only think Quran is for Ramadan.
And then when the Ramadan is over, they get a notification on their phone saying your memory is full, you need to delete some things. The first thing you delete is a Khurana Tomita anymore Ramadan's over we put the Quran back we wrap it up really nicely, because we respect the Quran and then we place it up again.
That is what the Quran is useful only in the month of Ramadan.
Quran is also misused in the month of Ramadan.
And I have to say this, even though some people may not like it,
but the Quran
A lot of the people believe that we must finish the RE citation of the Quran in the month of Ramadan. I have no problem with that and that's fine. That's a good thing. So how was used to do it? But it's a misunderstanding of the people that we must finish it. So how do they read it? How do they read it? If you listen to the Imam, some of us Subhanallah when they're reciting the Quran internally.
It's like you're racing
unreliable elemina Rahmani Raheem Malik yo, Medina. Yeah, can Abdullah Yeah, I can say until the end. I actually know some people who can read read the entire 31 breath.
And then they recite the other suitors of the Quran so quickly.
And a lot of people think that's how you're supposed to read the Quran. But we forget that when Allah to Allah, and this is why we what happens because we don't understand the verses of the Quran. When Allah Tala ordered the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to recite the Quran internally or NPM will lay What did he say what till Khurana Tom Tila and recite Quran with 13 with beautification, making sure you recite with touch with making sure your marriage is great is right is good. Making sure your fluency is nice. You're supposed to recite with beautification. That is what 13 means. But we forget that because we don't understand the Quran.
So that is how it is misused. Also, Quran is used when someone dies.
That's the time when we think of the Quran. When someone passes away, says, I need you
can you please come to my house? Can we recite some Quran
and that family probably don't even touch the Quran. But since someone has died, now the Quran becomes important that man's life there was no Quran and after he's dead, his book of Giza close what the Quran has been important now for him. Subhanallah
you know, this is the mentality of people because we don't understand what Allah says in the Quran.
When a person is sick, just wanting someone to recite the Quran in front of the person is about to pass away.
You know, subhanAllah when I was younger, I think I was maybe what 1112 13 years old. I remember, my uncle gave me a call, gave my father a call and said, you know, there's a family who needs someone to come to their house to recite Quran, you know, someone is sick. I think it was either someone sick or passed away, can't remember. So they told me to go and recite the Quran for for them so I'm like, Alright, I didn't know much I went and researched the Quran. And then after reciting the Quran, they gave me an envelope. I was like, I don't know what this is. But anyways, I went home and opened it, there was some money in there. And I was like, hey, I can make some money out of this.
You know, go to people's houses recycled and find out who's sick in the family. Or you know who's sick in the community and go recite Quran. People think that's what the Quran is for. I'm not saying it's wrong.
But what about the mother of that child? Who is sick? Why can't she recite? What about the Father in that family? Why can't he recite? What about the other people, the siblings in the family? Why can't they recite? Why is it that the chef has the most importance or someone who knows Quran has more importance here? No Subhanallah Quran is not for the share for the imam or for the for the audio for the whole field. Quran is for everyone. And we forget that
you know, subhanAllah a lot of people think, you know, a person is dying, that's when the Quran becomes important.
But we forget that if that man or that woman didn't live a life of Quran didn't live a life of understanding and implementing Quran, is that really gonna benefit them inshallah it does. But we know stories there was a chef who mentioned the story, there was a man who was passing away, and a few shakes came to visit him. When they entered the home, they realized there was music playing in the background,
you unnecessary or whatever they had. And the chef would upset at the family your father is passing away, and you're you've got music on
but put some Quran on.
So they felt the shame by that. So they turn that off, they put some Quran on the man who was dying or angry.
And he said put back the music that suits my heart.
And we know this because the Hadith of the Prophet SAW Selim, you will die by the way you've lived. If you don't live upon the Quran, and you're not gonna die upon the Quran. That's the simple formula Subhanallah so Quran is being misused in these areas. All right, they can be used again, they can be used, but it's a misunderstanding of how it's supposed to be how it's supposed to be used.
Also, when we have functions, right when we have weddings,
you will see a massive wedding in a beautiful hall all decorated no problem with that. But the problem is, you'll have a mixed gathering. You'll have men and women together. You
You have music blasted as the you know people are coming in. You have ladies without a job. They blinged up they will come in. You have the bride and the groom sitting at the front you know full show for everybody music is blasted and then his belly dancers waiting on the side.
And then the speaker starts you know the the MC starts Smilla Rahmanir Rahim Salam aleikum. Everyone. You know, we are here for this auspicious occasion. I would now like to call upon Muhammad Muhammad to come and recite Quran for us. So the poor little Muhammad Muhammad comes, picks up the microphone and recites and then the MC says hamdulillah Psalm Baraka we received from Allah subhanaw taala, reciting the Quran. How is that Baraka?
When you don't understand the Quran where Allah Tala tells us in the Quran, there has to be segregation. When Allah Allah tells us in the Quran, there needs to be hijab, when Allah tells us in the Quran, there is no music. When Allah Allah tells us in the Quran, there's supposed to be no dancing, no women in front of me dancing like that. Where is the implementation of the Quran? In those gatherings? It's not just the citation that's going to work Subhanallah there's blessings Yes. But the essence we forget the essence we forget. So we are using the Quran in these areas where we've we've, it's the way we've been taught that you know, that's what the Quran is useful. The
understanding leave that to the Allameh leave that to the chef's leave that to the knowledgeable people. Why did Allah say in the Quran to the Quran is for the knowledgeable people in Allah to Allah brought down the Quran upon an unlettered man, Mohammed, Ibn Abdullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he understood the Quran and Allah to Allah tells us in Allahu Quran and our obedience, la la quinta de Lune, Allah to Allah says that we have revealed the Quran in the Arabic language so that you may comprehend, you may understand, and Allah Allah tells us that understanding the Quran is easy.
But then we have a lot of these complaints and saying, We don't understand Arabic, we don't understand this. It's not for us. But that's because we don't want to put the effort in understanding the Quran.
If we asked you a question, how often do we recite the Quran, as compared to how often we use our device? Think about it for a moment.
Ask yourself the question, I'll ask myself the question you ask yourself the question, when was the last time you sat down, you opened up the Quran, you recited the Quran, and you took time to understand its meaning, as compared to when was the last time we picked up our devices. And we went on social media to check Facebook, or Twitter, or Snapchat or Instagram or tick tock or whatever it is, to compare the two, it's actually come comparatively more, because Subhanallah I'll use, I'll use spend hours and hours a day on technology and the distractions of life when the reality is not taken into account. And that is the Quran. So that is what is happening today. Subhanallah and
because of that distractions, and brainwashing of every other things that is around them, there are so many social issues.
And this is because of the lack of understanding of the Quran. Look at the social issues of today.
And let's just talk about Muslims for now. We're not even talking about non Muslims the rise of or raising our children
to give importance to this dunya
and that's a social problem that's an issue that parents and are raising the children up to cater for this dunya and not for the Astro
so we raise them up in a manner that you need to be smart in math you need to smart smart in English, I there's no issues with that. But where is the importance?
There is no importance given on Quran
there is no importance given on the Arabic language English is a must you better learn English essays you got to do that you got to pass it English is compulsory, until you 12 HSC, all of these things right? What about Arabic? We did Arabic go something that's going to help you understand the book of Allah, which will then help you into paradise. Where is that importance gone? Subhanallah and the way we are raising our kids is such that way. So when they get older, and they are successful in this life, they will have children. Quran won't even be mentioned.
Quran when we mentioned and you can see that happening generation after generation where Islam is lost in certain families, unfortunately, because we are not giving the importance and we don't understand how to raise our kids because we're not reading the Quran. We forget the entire story of Luke mantle his son it's in the Quran. There is a reason why Allah to Allah revealed the stories in the Quran for us to take heed you take lessons Allah Allah tells us where the color look man holy bunny, he wasn't where you are.
We're gonna Yala to Shrek villa in a circle of woman Alvin and he continues Yeah When are you happy masala what mobile models 100 Ivanka was with Allah ma sabak The whole Tobia of look man to his son is given in the Quran. That is what Allah is telling us use that to teach your children. Teach about the Oneness of Allah. Teach about stay away from shirk, teach about being patients teach about salah connection with Allah. Why do you think?
What's the first suitors that you memorize when you're a child?
Can someone tell me first verse first students suitors to students? What do you memorize? Yes.
Surah Al Fatiha well done. And what's the other one?
A class called hula hula had right? I mean, that's the first suit as I learned that the first students my kids learned that the first suit is probably any kid learns. And that is because those sources, they are the most important sources of the Quran festival. And that is because that Surah helps you connect with Allah, the entire surah is all about Allah and your connection with Allah.
That's what is taught to the kids by we only teach them the resuscitation and not the understanding. So they don't know who Allah is. They don't really understand what Allah is. That connection is lost. That's why the love of the Quran is not there.
Also, other social issues that happens, disrespect of the children, to the parents, to their teachers, to the elders. And you can see that all across Australia, amongst the Muslims and I'm only talking about Muslims go.
It's so rare now to see respect to the parents. It's very, very rare, unfortunately.
Because we don't teach our children and I'm not only talking about young children, I'm talking about even our age to our parents.
Why? Because we forget verses or we don't understand the verses in the Quran. When Allah Allah tells us what God or Buddha Allah taboo. Illa Yeah, we're Bill Wiley Dany sana in May a blue one nine circle Kibera. huduma Oklahoma, Salah Trakula Houma. Well, let's learn how to have our Kula Houma Colin Karima. We don't understand these verses we recited in Ramadan every year. But we don't know what we're saying. We forget that Allah to Allah says, and it is decreed upon you to worship number Allah and to be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age do not show any sign of disrespect even the word of we forget the importance of that. Because we're not
understanding the Quran.
A modesty among Muslims.
And that's on the rise.
The way we wear our clothes, the way we talk to others even in modest fashion.
The way our sisters are dressed these days, the hijab is off. It's going up, it's going away. And on top of that, the husbands don't care.
Where is the lira gone? The extreme jealousy of your wives gone? Where is it gone?
Where is the understanding of the idea when Allah Tala tells us Yeah, you have NaVi Koleos words Coburn antic, when he said what meaning you will need Allah in Abuja we begin the understanding of Allah to Allah telling the Prophet tell you why is tell your daughters tell the believing woman to put a cloak over themselves to cover themselves in modesty. Where's your understanding when Allah Tala tells us to lower our gaze to be modest to God, our private parts? We forget all of this because we don't understand the Quran. And that is why today our sisters are taking off the hijab. And what's big and what's on the rise? Is Tik Tok videos. Have you noticed this? Have you seen this?
Our sisters, and yes, some of our brothers, but it's a majority within our sisters, where they put on their phone or their devices. And the hijab might be half open or no hijab, tight clothing, moving their body in front of a camera, and then posting it for the world to see
Subhanallah posting it for the world to see. I know it's hard to take these in. But these are the realities of life.
These are the realities of life. immodesty. It's happening now. Why? Because we forget what Allah the One who created us, tells us we forget what he tells what he's good for us. We forget all of these issues.
Also not not upholding our roles and responsibilities. Husband and wife issues. Husband Doesn't take care of the family while she makes money. You know, she can spend on this she can spend on that. What do I have to spend a woman forgetting that's the role of you, that's your role? And at the same time, culture plays a big role and we mix culture with religion, right? And we say hey, I've got the power.
Our I'm in control and therefore you do something wrong slap across your face.
Right? I mean abuse and we think that's okay and we think that's fine because we mix culture with religion. And we know for a fact that Allah Allah tells us not to disrespect or hits or anyone. Allah Tala tells us a regional Munna Allah Nisa that men, they are the protectors, their caretakers, the ones who should look after the women. And yet we disrespect them we dishonor them we hit them. We we show signs of, of physical abuse towards them. Likewise the women the wives towards their husband, we live in a time the Western world feminism is on the rise. I don't need to respect my husband anymore. Are we to have it my husband anymore? What you're telling me to obey my husband?
How dare you told me to obey my husband?
The word obey we can't even use anymore because it doesn't sound right. And that's the word the prophets of salaam used and it's the understanding of the Quran that the men should understand what it means to be obey. You don't take advantage of that.
You tell them what is right. You're responsible Allah to Allah tells us in the Quran, here you will Alina Ahmed who, who and Fusa como Alikum. Nara were all to her NASA will hedgerow. Oh you who believe Save yourselves and your families from what from the Fire whose fuel is men and stones?
Why is this happening because we don't understand the Quran. We have left the Quran. And the social problems are happening.
backbiting, slandering, mocking, bullying, all of this is on the rise, breaking the ties of kinship, my brother, my sister, you know, I don't like you. Because you have a bigger house in me.
I don't like you, because you have more money than me, the car you're driving, I'm jealous. I'm not gonna say it. I'm thinking. And that's why I'm not going to talk to you anymore.
You married a more beautiful wife than I have. I'm not I'm not gonna talk to you anymore.
And you break the ties of kinship. And we forget the verses of the Quran that tells us the danger of breaking the ties of kinship. Subhanallah is because we don't understand the Quran. inheritance, parents pass away such a tough time. Then someone says that's all my money. The parents unfortunately didn't write a will. So it's dispersed how they like we forget the verses of the Quran, where it tells you who gets what, you don't have a say.
It's the right of the person to get that Allah to Allah tells us because Allah knows if that is not written, there'll be a rift and problems between siblings and family.
But we forget those verses SubhanAllah. Because we don't know we don't read we don't understand it. So all of these problems is happening. So how, what can we do? How can we resolve these issues?
We can resolve these issues by first of all, accepting there is a problem.
We need to accept I have a problem. I don't understand the Quran. I never used to give importance. But you know what? I'm going to start now.
So the first way to resolve this problem, it's you it's me. What can I do? How can I fix myself? You know what I'm intending now? And Allah the Prophet SAW Selim tells us in the Malama Lavinia the first Hadith you will find in Sahih al Bukhari riada Salah hain. The first Hadith Hadith of the 40 Hadith of Imam and now with every action depends upon your intention if you intend good now, you know what your hola I'm a Muslim, you chose me to be a Muslim. And I love that I'm a Muslim. And I'm going to put in my effort to understand your words to connect with you better.
So I'm going to put in my font now. I'm going to use this Ramadan that's coming up to understand the Quran. So the first step is to change yourself. You see Allah to Allah says in the Quran, in Allahu Allah you Rama be Omen, Hatha Yoga Euro maybe unfussy him, Allah to Allah will not change the situation of the people until you change what is within yourself. The problems in society, the issues and problems that we just talked about. Also the greater problems around the world, Muslims are dying in other places, because there's no unity anymore. The lack of understanding of the Quran the lack of connection with Allah subhanaw taala.
And if we change what is within ourselves and now focus more on deen and understand the words of Allah, then you will see changes coming in slowly, slowly, but ignore Allah.
So that's the first thing that we need to do. Secondly, we need to understand that we must connect with Allah by Allah telling us in the Quran, who will the Bertha fill me in are Sol Amin whom yet Lu Allah him
If it were you, sir Kim, where you are Lee Mohammed Al Kitab al hikma when can I mean Abdullah Ali Mubin. Allah subhanahu wa taala he tells us, it is him it is Allah to Allah who will lead the basophil Amin or Sulan.
Allah to Allah sent to the unlimited world, people who didn't understand
a prophet, a messenger for what you have to do I lay him I yell at him, to recite upon us the words of Allah subhanahu wa taala
the words of Allah subhanahu wa taala the Prophet was sent to teach us this Quran Why use the key him and the word of user key him is to change to become purified to become better to become understanding
is the key in why you are leaving whom will Kitab al Hikmah and to teach us the book to teach us this Quran and the wisdom behind these verses from the Sunnah of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam. So we need to accept that the first change that I must do is now focused on the Quran. Because that is what Allah says to do. When you focus on the Quran, doesn't your Salah become better when you can understand bits and pieces of the Quran, your your Salah becomes better and when your Salah becomes better because the essence of Salah is Quran. When your Salah becomes better you will see how the sins go away. Because Allah says in salata turn her annual fascia you will monitor that
verily Salah prevents you from committing indecency and sins.
If you're committing sins if I'm committing sins regularly, it's because my salah is no good and my salah is no good because I don't understand what I'm saying.
There is no connection with Allah subhanho wa Taala so that is why we need to connect with Allah subhanahu wa taala
you know, the excuse we always give you know, but I don't understand Arabic. I don't understand Arabic. I'm not going to put in effort. Can I mention a verse in the Quran? Allah Allah tells us Yeah, you have Latina Amano, la takanobu salata, WA untung su cara had to
look at this verse. This was when the first prohibition of alcohol came. We all know alcohol was Halal before during the time of the Prophet SAW Salem Sahabas used to drink alcohol, that was normal. And Allah Tala gave the first prohibition, this was the first prohibition, he said, Will you believe do not come close to Salah let Sakurako salata what Entomb tsuchiura, when you are drunk, right, don't pray when you're drunk. Why? Because when you're praying while you're drunk, your mind is not in it.
Right? Your mind is not in it, you can't understand the Quran had
until you understand what you're saying. Look at the verse. Do not approach Salah while you are drunk, until you understand what you're saying. What about me and you that doesn't understand the Quran? Should we pray or not? Now some of you think about, that's about someone who is drunk. So in that verse, you know, that you must understand what you're saying in your Salah.
You should understand what you're saying in your Salah. When you say Allahu Akbar, what are you saying? When you say the Surah Al Fatiha? What are you saying? When you're reciting either Raja and Azula? He will fit? What are you saying? Allahu Akbar? Subhana Robbia lousy. What does that mean? Semi Allah holy man. Hamidah What am I saying? Robina Allah Cal hum Hamden? Kathy ronto Even MOBA autoconfig feed? I don't know what I'm saying. I'm just saying it because I was taught it.
If the drunk person is told to know what you're saying, then you come and pray. We should, we should know what we're saying. And we know later on alcohol became completely haram.
Subhanallah is something to think about.
Also the Quraysh
the calf the kuffaar of Quraysh, the leaders of Quraysh, who hated the Muslims, who hated the Prophet SAW Salem, who wanted to kill the Prophet SAW Salem, they were telling people don't listen to this madman. Don't listen to him, he's a soothsayer. He's a magician is This is that? Don't listen to his words. You know, the old magic Don't listen to him. But they didn't. So there's a hadith that three leaders of the Quraysh used to at night go near the house of the Prophet sallallahu sallam, and they used to quietly listen to the Quran because he actually moved them. It's something happened to them. And it's also mentioned that some of them used to cry.
It had an impact. When was the last time we cried when we recited Quran.
When was the last
time we shared a tea, because we recited the Quran. i It's very hard to remember. But that's the reality it moves them. But because of the stubbornness, they didn't want to change.
So when will it move us? That's something to think about.
Lastly, oh, a few more points in sha Allah. The Quran as we know is our guide.
And, you know when you buy certain appliance, right, it comes with a manual. I remember we moved into a house recently. And we were building a garden shed at the back. Now I'm not I'm not a handyman, but I bought a garden shed from Bunnings.
And it comes in a box.
My son and I, we were we took it open. And the first thing what I look for the manual, how to build this thing, right? So the manual says step one, do this. Step two, do this. Step three, do this. You know, son, get this. Let me get that for me. Which tool? Should I use that tool? Which screws should I use D one, D, two, D, two D one, pick up that one. Right. That's the one I'm going to use. Once it's finished, perfect, beautiful, put into place by done successful, because I use the manual. Imagine if I started building on myself and I'm going to knowledge it's going to be the wind will blow this flood will take it away that we had. Right but somehow it's true. When we are looking for
success of the akhira we don't open up the manual that will take us there. We don't you want to go to a place you turn the GPS on. Right? Because you want to get to your destination. Where is our destination? Jana? How do we get there, don't worry about the GPS Don't worry about the Quran. And we think we're gonna get to Paradise. So these are the things that we can think about. Lastly, just want to give some practical tips in this month of Ramadan.
One thing that we can do in sha Allah, since Ramadan is coming up,
the short suitors that you know,
the short tours that you that you've already memorized.
Take some time to sit down with your family and go through the meaning of the of those sorts. Understand that the seed of the suitors sit down as a family there's books available, sit down as a family have a Holika and talk about Okay, today we're going to do sudo to also to Nasir Elijah and Sula, he will fetch. Let's see what it means. Let's look at the first verse asking kids the question, look at the keywords, highlight them, learn them in sha Allah. Try to do that in the month of Ramadan. And you will see that when you're praying next time and you're reciting Elijah, you're gonna start picturing it. And your Salah will be special at that time. So that's the first thing we
should do. The second step that we can take, memorize keywords of the Quran. There's so many keywords, Jana, Johanna Ophira, mouth in son, all of these keywords, many of them out there, try to because it keeps on repeating. Make sure you understand what that means. So next time when the Imam is reciting, and he says Jana, you know what it is, when he says mode, you should shake a little bit. Right, at least that should help you. And then you will start to understand more and more and more keywords are important. Third,
start to memorize sources. Now leaving the short tours out, you've already memorized them a new Surah that you want to memorize. Now, memorize it with understanding.
That's an excellent memorize a new Surah with understanding even if it takes you a while there is narrations that has been mentioned that the Sahabas usually take years to memorize certain students. And that's okay, take your time, you're in the right way, right track, your intentions are good. It might take you years, but that's fine. Because you want to make sure you understand those verses you apply those verses in sha Allah. And lastly, and this is the hardest, but in sha Allah with determination, it's possible. Learn the Arabic language,
the amount of importance we give to English. Let's give that importance to Arabic. Learn the Arabic language. And I you know, hung out at school. I'm a school teacher. So I when I talk about this to the students, I stopped for a moment I'm gonna say Arabs. Stand up for me please. No disrespect to anyone. Arab stand up, please. So the Arabs stand up. And I say to the Arabs, I say there's something special that you have something special that you have. You have the Arabic language, even if it's a different lecture, even if it is let's say it's a it's Lebanese Arabic, or it's Iraqi Arabic or it's Egyptian, Arabic, whatever it is. At least the words are close enough to understand
the Quran. Don't lose it. I told him don't lose it. You've got that speak to your parents in Arabic. Speak to your grandparents in Arabic. Speak to your siblings in Arabic. Continue speaking in Arabic. Don't lose that inshallah.
Then I told him to sit down, I told non Arab stand up.
Do you think they have an advantage over you? They said yes, they have an advantage over us. They they know Arabic, I said, No,
it doesn't matter. You know what, you have an advantage because you're a Muslim.
The other population out there, they're not, you're a Muslim. Your job is to put in that extra effort and you'll be rewarded for it. Learn bits and pieces here and there. Try to understand Arabic Inshallah, if you can go to class, go to classes of Arabic, but try your best to at least at least, in your Salah. You know exactly what you're saying. That for me is the minimum requirement. The Arabic, which is the minimum requirement, is what you're praying in your Salah, you understand it. And if you can do that in sha Allah, you've done well, and then continue on in sha Allah. And there is everything that I'm 60 7080 years old, I can't study anymore. No, no, no. Age doesn't matter.
When I was doing my bachelor's in Malaysia, in the Sharia, there was a man who was in my class, 92 years old.
He was 92 years old. And I asked him I was young and I even asked him like, what are you doing here? But you're 92 years old. And he looked at me with a smile on his face and he said, You're never too old to study the deen of Allah. You're never too old to study the deen of Allah. And he taught me a lesson. It's so true. You're never too old. So do your best in sha Allah, Allah Allah Allah knows your intention. We ask Allah subhanahu wa taala. To help us understand the Quran. We ask Allah subhanahu wa taala to help us understand the meaning of the Quran to apply the Quran in our life, to love the Quran. Because remember my brothers and sisters, this Quran will be a Hijjah for you or
against you on the Day of Judgment. They will say to the Quran will say to Allah Allah, I kept him up all night because he was reciting me. Yeah, ALLAH forgive him. The Quran will say, or the Quran might say, Oh Allah, this guy. He never opened the Quran. He never opened me never recited me, you know? He never cared for me. You never loved me. What do you think's gonna happen? So we asked Allah subhanahu wa taala to make us love the Quran. And we ask Allah subhanho wa Taala through the Quran insha Allah for our understanding and our efforts to grant us all Janna to for those of Honolulu become the Hispanic Aloma will be humbling shadow Allah Allah Allah and still Furukawa to be like
Salam aleikum wa rahmatullah here.
