He should be feared, and
do

you who believe, fear Allah and say the
right words, He will correct your deeds and
forgive your sins, and whoever obeys Allah and
His Messenger, he has achieved a great success
My dear, beloved, respected brothers and sisters, I
ask Allah to bless me and you with
sincerity in everything that we say and everything
that we do.
Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.
After someone takes the shahada, and after a
born Muslim hits puberty, male or female, the
second pillar of Islam, the salat, becomes an
obligation.
It becomes an obligation.
It becomes a must.
If I am sick, really sick, fasting in
the month of Ramadan will drop.
If I am poor, the pillar of zakat
will drop.
If I am poor and sick, the pillar
of hajj will drop.
But if I am sick, healthy, rich or
poor, salat will never drop.
Salat will never drop.
As a matter of fact, it is so
essential, it is so important that our beloved,
alayhis salatu was salam said, it is the
first matter that we will be questioned about
on the day of judgment.
If it's good, the rest of the pillar
will follow, and if it's not good, the
rest of the pillars will follow.
Now, when it comes to salat, people in
relationship with the salat, they are divided into
few groups.
First, the group that does not pray at
all.
Second, the group that prays only jumu'ah
and selective salawat.
Third, the group that delay, they pray the
five salawat, but they delay the salawat till
it is convenient for them.
The fourth, they pray all five salawat and
they pray them all on time, but without
any khushu'ah, without any concentration, without any
focusing.
And the last group, may Allah make us
among them, these are the group who pray
five times a day, and they are striving
and struggling and trying so hard to make
sure they achieve khushu'ah in their salat.
Let's take them one by one, because every
single one in this room belongs to one
of these groups.
First, to my beloved brother and sister that
does not pray.
Imagine you woke up in the morning and
there's no internet all over the world, no
internet, no phone calls, nothing.
You lost connection with your family, you cannot
work anymore, you cannot study, everything stopped.
Well, my brother and sister, when you do
not pray, you are disconnecting yourself from the
creator himself.
You are disconnecting yourself from the source of
mercy, from the source of peace, from the
source of love, from the source of wisdom,
from the source of knowledge.
The salat, we translate it into prayer, and
I've been saying the word prayer because this
is all we know, but actually the word
salat has come from the word silah.
Silah means to connect in Arabic.
So salat is my connection with my creator
five times a day.
And when I decided not to pray, I
have disconnected myself from my creator.
But you know, subhanallah, the creator did not
disconnect himself from you.
You still wake up with your eyes and
your ears and your hands and your mobility
and the food and the roof over your
head.
Imagine I do not pray and I wake
up in the morning and I lose my
eye, and then the next day I lose
my ear, then I lose my son, then
I...
subhanallah.
You have disconnected yourself from your creator, from
the one who gave you everything you have,
my beloved brother and my beloved sister.
I thought so much, and I'm very cautious
not to annoy you and say what kind
of shuyukh this, you know, they always talk
about the salat, and if I don't pray
I'm going to the *.
La wallahi, I'm not going to mention it,
because I want you to pray.
I'm very haris, I'm very cautious not to
upset you, because I want you to pray.
I'm really, really desperate for you to pray,
because you are risking your akhirah, your eternal
life, a huge, huge risk.
My brother and sister who do not pray,
I have a very simple question, very, very
simple question.
Why?
What did Allah do to you?
Why?
Why?
Do the people who pray, are they better
than you?
Do they have extra ear, extra eye?
Why don't you pray?
What is it that made you decide not
to pray?
Some of us, especially the youth, say I
stop praying, ya sheikh, because I don't feel
anything.
I just make some movements up and down,
I don't feel nothing.
Let me ask you, my habibi.
What kind of effort did you put to
feel something?
You are listening to the shaytan, when he
came to you and whispered, you're not feeling
anything, you're a very good guy, your heart
is so sweet, you are kind, you do
not harm anybody.
What is this five times a day, putting
your head on the ground?
No, no, no, this is just rituals.
No, no, no, Allah looks at the heart
only, that's it.
You're good.
And anyway, you don't understand anything, so why?
You're just praying because your baba and your
mama said to pray.
Forget about the salat.
What effort did you put?
You put a lot of effort to become
a doctor.
You put a lot of effort to go
to school and university and find a job.
How much effort did you put to enjoy
the salat?
Brother and sister, listen, this masjid fits thousands
of people, and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
chose these people who are here to listen
to these words.
Wallahi, Allah loves you.
Allah loves you.
He wants you to come back to Him.
Let me ask you, my brother and sister
who do not pray, really, what do you
do when you're stuck?
What do you do when you have a
problem?
What do you do when you're going through
hardship?
What do you do when you're sick?
Who do you ask?
Where do you go?
Really, what do you do?
Have you ever thought of that?
Why?
Why I only go to Allah when I'm
in hardship and when Allah is blessing me
with countless blessings?
I forget about Him.
When we are stressed and depressed and anxious,
we go to the psychiatrist and he gives
us medicine to feel better.
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the sahaba said,
if anything happened to him, any matter that
is worrying him, he rushes to pray and
he tells Bilal, make the iqamah so I
can feel relaxed and rested.
One of the biggest medicine for stress and
depression, the best medicine is the connection with
Allah azza wa jal.
My brothers and sisters, do you know, my
brothers and sisters that do not pray, do
you know that you are the only creation
that does not make sujood to Allah?
Wow!
You chose to be from the only creation,
creation not human beings, creation that does not
make sujood to Allah.
Allah azza wa jal said in surah al
Don't you
see that everyone in the heavens and everyone
on earth makes sujood to Allah, even the
sun, even the moon, even the mountains and
the stars, even the animals, and many of
mankind, not all mankind, and you chose to
be from the few who do not make
sujood to Allah.
My brother and sister, please, I beg you,
repent to Allah, repent to Allah before it's
too late.
Every day there's a janazah and the ages
are varying from 2 years old, 1 year
old to 90 year old, every single day,
what makes you think that you are not
next?
Ask me by Allah, tell me by Allah,
tell me by Allah, what are you going
to tell Allah when He asks you why
you did not pray?
Because this question could be tomorrow, why you
did not pray?
What are you going to say?
And ask yourself the second question after that,
is that answer valid to the king of
kings?
Please, please brother, please sister, please say, أَعُوذُ
بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ and start praying.
Second, my brother who only prays Jumu'ah,
and I'm sure there's some of you here,
or they pray whenever they feel like praying.
I want to ask you a question, when
you picked this order from Allah, Allah ordered
to pray Jumu'ah once, and He ordered
to pray the five daily prayers over 80
times.
Why did you pick this?
Why you picked this?
Once pray Jumu'ah, which is included in
the 80, and 80 times, أَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةِ يُقِيمُونَ
الصَّلَاةِ Why did you pick this?
Wallahi, I'm not going to be from the
people, or the shaykhs who say, if you
pray Jumu'ah only, better for you not
to pray.
Wallahi, I'm not going to tell you that.
Because you could come to the Jumu'ah,
and listen to something like this, that could
change your life.
You are looking at a Jumu'ah guy.
25 years ago, I was a Jumu'ah
guy.
Imagine the shaykh said, get out of here
if you pray Jumu'ah only.
I will not be standing here today.
So please my brother, please.
Why did you decide to pray Jumu'ah
only?
Why?
Convenience?
What is it?
Because everybody in the office is going, yalla,
let me go, what the people are going
to say about me if I don't attend.
Why you chose Jumu'ah?
Imagine you go back to work, and the
bus asks you to do 1, 2, 3,
4, 5.
And you said, Wallahi, I'm going to do
only number 3.
Excuse me?
Would you dare do that?
But this is exactly what you're doing with
Allah.
Yalla, I'm going to only pray Jumu'ah.
You take it, take it.
Wallahi, you will be fired instantly in a
blink of an eye.
Blink of an eye.
But you are so worried about your rizq.
But you're not worried about your akhirah.
My brother, alhamdulillah, that Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala does not treat us the same.
And because we only pray Jumu'ah, imagine
Allah would say, you are fired from my
rahmah.
Wallahi, we'll be the biggest of losers.
Please, again, repent to Allah, and make a
decision.
That's it.
I'm praying all my 5 salawat from now
on.
Third, to the brother and sister that pray
their 5 daily prayers, but not on time.
Not on their prescribed time.
They pray fajr when they wake up.
Wake up at 7, 8, 9, 10.
This is when they pray fajr.
And the rest of the salawat, maybe when
they come back from work.
Yallah, dhuhr maghrib, dhuhr asr, maghrib, isha, all
together.
And they feel like, alhamdulillah, at least I
pray.
My brothers and sisters, if you are the
master, then yeah, you can do that.
Pray whenever you want to.
But, I'm sorry to tell you that you're
not the master.
And the master said, The salawat
upon the believers on a prescribed time.
When you pray, whenever you want to pray,
you are telling Allah, whether you know it
or not.
Ya Allah, I have no time for you
now.
When I have time, I will pray.
Astaghfirullah al-azim.
This is exactly what you're saying, even though
maybe you do not mean it.
But this is exactly.
Allah said, you pray dhuhr now till before
asr comes.
You said, no, wallahi, I am busy right
now.
I can't.
Listen.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in surah an
-nisa, He's telling Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
Ya Muhammad, when you are, open your ears.
When you are in the battlefield, battlefield, not
watching a movie.
You are in the battlefield, performing jihad.
And the time for the salawat come.
Let part of you, a group of you
pray, and the other group will guard them.
When they finish, the guards will pray, and
the others will guard them.
If there is anyone on earth, that is
excused from praying the salawat on time, it
will be the mujahid.
And still, Allah told him, pray salawatul khawth.
Imagine, I'm watching a movie.
Imagine, I'm watching a basketball game.
Imagine, I'm playing video games with my friends.
I can't stop right now.
I will lose the game.
Can you imagine, mujahid, mujahid, fighting, he's going
to die any second.
Stop, go pray.
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.
My brothers and sisters, when you delay your
salawat, you are delaying any success in your
life.
You are delaying happiness.
You are delaying marriage.
You are delaying finding a job.
You are delaying being successful in anything.
What's the deleal?
Hayya ala al-salah, hayya ala al-falah.
I have no time.
Come to salawat, come to success.
And I'm delaying coming to success.
I'm delaying coming to success.
You expect everything to be smooth, and you
pray whenever you want to pray?
My brothers and sisters, make the intention, that
from now on, all my salawat on time.
Please forgive me if I'm yelling, because wallahi
I love you for the sake of Allah.
And this could be my last khutba, and
this could be your last khutba attending.
And if we, Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam,
some people after I finish, Shaykh, you were
screaming a lot.
Go to Sahih Muslim and look, Rasulullah salallahu
alayhi wa sallam, it said, when he was
giving the khutba, his veins are bulging as
if he's calling for war.
This is how concerned he was about his
ummah.
And I'm only trying to imitate him.
The fourth group.
You pray all your five daily prayers, and
you pray them on time, but you have
no khushu' whatsoever.
And this is probably in the majority of
us.
The main reason you did not achieve khushu'
is, you are rushing.
You're praying so fast.
You're praying so fast.
My question is, where are you going?
What is it?
What is it that you are so worried
about to lose, that you cannot extend your
salah for a minute or two?
Keep in mind that whatever you're worried about
is in the hands of the one you're
standing before.
Slow down, ya akhi, slow down.
Imagine there were two men going to see
the king for a request that they have.
Same request.
The first one walked in, Ya, your majesty,
you are very generous.
You are very kind.
Everybody knows how loving and caring you are.
Wallahi, I am going through so much, your
majesty.
And if only Allah can help me, and
then you.
I have all my dependence on Allah first,
and then you.
Please, your majesty, this is my request.
And the other guy, same request.
Your majesty, I know you're kind, I know
you're loving, I know you're caring.
This is my request.
Are you going to give it to me
or not?
Subhan rabbil azeem, subhan rabbil azeem, subhan rabbil
azeem.
Subhan rabbil ala, subhan rabbil ala, subhan rabbil
ala.
At-tahiyyat lillahi wa s-salawat wa at
-tayyiba.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah.
This is exactly the second guy, and this
is exactly what we're doing.
Where are you going?
Please, ya akhi, please, ya akhi.
Allah chose you to be from the people
who are praying all five salawat, and on
time.
And you're ruining it by going so fast.
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was sitting, and
a man walked in.
We all know the story, the hadith is
in Bukhari.
Wallahi, one of the scariest hadith.
He prayed, and then he came and said,
As-salamu alayka ya rasulullah.
Wa alaykum as-salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Go back and pray because you did not
pray.
Allahu Akbar, Salamu alaykum.
Salamu alayka ya rasulullah, Wa alaykum as-salam
wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Go back and pray, because you did not
pray.
Allahu Akbar, Salat finished it.
Salamu alaykum ya rasulullah Wa alaykum as-salam
wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Go back and pray, because you did not
pray.
He said, Ya Rasulullah, that's all I know,
teach me.
How many of us, if they prayed next
to Rasulullah ﷺ, he will tell them, go
back and pray because you did not pray.
And it will be too late because there's
no going back.
He did not tell him 10% is
accepted, 30% is accepted.
He told him, whatever you just did, I
have no clue what it is.
This is not what I taught you.
And then the Rahim, Rasulullah ﷺ started explaining
to him, إذا ركعت فاطمئن راكعا ثم إذا
رفعت فاطمئن قائما ثم إذا سجست فاطمئن ساجدا
When you get up, make sure that you
are at peace.
And when you make ruku'a, be at
peace.
Have you seen our ruku'a?
Boom!
You get up from ruku'a, سَمِعَ اللَّهُ
لِمَنْ حَمِدَ As if you are diving in
a pool.
Boom!
Straight!
To the sujood, no focus, no concentration, no
nothing.
I just want to get it over with.
I want to be done with this.
يَلَّا خَلَصْ دُهُرْ Check.
عَصَرْ Check.
What did we achieve from that?
Doesn't matter.
Doesn't matter.
Rasulullah ﷺ, he said, إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُصَلِّي سِتِّينَ
عَامًا وَمَا تُقْبَلْ لَهُ صَلَاةً Allahu Akbar.
A person will pray for 60 years.
60 years of salawat.
And not one salawat was accepted.
Why, ya Rasulullah?
لَا يُتِمْ رُكُوعَهَا وَلَا سُجُودَهَا He does not
complete his ruku.
And he does not complete his sujood.
Where are you going?
Why are you rushing?
Why are you rushing?
I thought we love Allah the most and
I am meeting with the one I love
the most.
That means I do not want the meeting
to end.
Slow down, slow down.
It will change everything.
الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا
كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ You are praising Allah.
What kind of praise when you say, سُبْحَانَهُ
وَبَعْدِهِمْ سُبْحَانَهُ وَبَعْدِهِمْ What kind of praise?
Really, what kind of praise?
You gave me a gift and I said,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You tell me, what kind of thank you
is this?
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي Imagine your
son did something wrong and he comes to
you, Baba, forgive me, forgive me.
You say, what?
But why when it comes to Allah, it's
okay?
Why?
My brothers and sisters, please, please, slow down
and do not become a thief.
Do not become a thief.
Rasulullah ﷺ said, The worst of thieves is
the thief, is the one who steals from
his Salat.
He said, Ya Rasulullah, how can someone steal
from his Salat?
He said, لَا يُتِمْ رَكُوعَهَا وَلَا سُجُودَهَا He
does not complete its ruku' and its sujud.
My brothers and sisters, finally the final group.
I just want to tell that group, if
you are here and listening, if you are
watching us, هنيئًا لكم.
Congratulations.
May Allah bless you and may Allah protect
you and may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
continue to bless you with this huge, huge
favor of being able to pray five times
a day, on time, and you're struggling and
striving.
Khushu' is not a push of a button.
Khushu' is a constant 24-hour effort.
But at the same time, I want to
tell you, don't feel very safe.
It could disappear.
Beg Allah to keep you like this till
the day you meet Him.
Because some people feel like, you know, خلاص
I'm there, look at my salat.
They start having ujub.
They start being conceited about their salat.
And then, you start to decline.
Always remember that you are able to pray
such a salat because He permitted so and
He saw how much effort that you are
putting.
Finally, when your children become adults, when they
hit puberty, I beg you, I beg you,
wake them up for fajr.
You are so eager to wake them up
for school and if they miss school, you
go crazy.
You are so eager to wake them up
for work and if you don't wake up
for work, I'm going to show you.
But if they skip fajr, it's okay.
إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ لَا حَوْلَهُ لَا قُوَّةَ
لَا Please, please.
I always mention this story.
A woman was waking up her 14-year
-old daughter for fajr.
And the daughter kept on saying, Mama, leave
me alone.
I want to rest.
I want to rest.
Leave me alone.
The mother said, Wallahi my daughter, I'm only
waking you up so you can rest.
I'm only waking you up so you can
rest in the dunya and in the akhirah.
Make this dua.
The dua in surah Ibrahim.
رَبِّ جَعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ
دُعَاءٍ Ya Allah, make me from the people
who establish salat.
Not just pray.
Establish salat.
Not only me.
Not my children.
My grandchildren.
No, no.
My dhuriya.
My offsprings, Ya Allah.
Look how beautiful is dua.
And who said this dua?
Allah.
Allah is telling me how to ask Him.
Beg Him.
Beg Him.
May Allah make us all from the people
who establish their salat.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgive all
the years that we missed or ignored or
neglected our salat.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala unite our
hearts.
