AI: Summary ©
I would like to congratulate all of you
for the coming of Eid ul Abha,
which is a gift from Allah
for all of us. But before the day
of Eid there is also a great day.
That a day that also another Eid for
us which is the day of Arafah, 9th
of Dhul Hijjah. And in these few minutes,
inshaAllah ta'ala, I wanna share with you 30
points related to this blessed day, the day
of Arafah, so we can appreciate this day
more and we prepare ourselves better. Number 1,
the day of Arafah is one of the
10 days of Dhul Hijjah. The first 10
days of Dhul Hijjah, as Nabi sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam told us, they are the best,
the greatest of all the year of the
days of the year. As a Nabi mentioned
that in several ahadith.
Number 2. The day of Arafa which is
the,
the 9th of
the 10 days of the Hijjah.
It is an indication
that these 10 days about to end.
And we know that
that always what you do at the end
is the best.
And that's how Allah
will accept you. So whoever end his life
with good deeds, his life will be accepted.
Sins will be forgiven. So Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala giving us this day right before the
end of the first 10 days of Dhul
Hijjah
to maximize our
rewards and to give us even more chance
for those who have missed to do good
in the 1st 9 days. From now, this
is 9th. Do your best. End the 10
with the strongest way possible.
As our lives
pass by so quickly, the 10 days already
passed so quickly.
Number 3.
The day of Arafah is a day of
Eid.
It is the day where Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala completed the deen for us. A Jew
once told Umar
You have a verse in your book. If
this verse was revealed to us, we will
we would have taken that day
whenever Allah send out that verse. We have
taken that day as a day of celebration,
a day of Eid. Umar said which verse
is that? The Jew told Umar.
It is where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said
Today I have perfect your deen, perfect your
religion,
and perfect my favor upon you. And I
have I'm pleased with Islam to be your
religion.
Umar said, I know when this verse was
revealed and where it was revealed. It was
revealed on the day of Jumuah, in the
day of Arafah, when Nabi
was with us in Hajj and the hadith
in Bukhari Muslim.
And Umar
told him that this is a day of
Eid for us. It is the day where
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala shows his favor upon
us by completing the religion. And completing the
religion here means the major things in Islam
were already completed. The major principles, rules, pillars,
obligations were
already established in the book of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and by through the sunnah of
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. It doesn't mean
that there is no any other rules was
revealed after that. As we know, the there
is verses like the verses in inheritance.
The issue of and
the arriba interest came afterwards.
But the point that the major issues in
religion was completed that day. So that's in
itself a virtue for the day of Arafah.
Also,
among the number 4, one of the virtue
of this day, that this is the day
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala made an oath
with. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said,
in Surat Al Buj verse 3, which is
the witness and the thing that it was
witnessed.
And the witness
thing
is day of Arafah.
As many of the mufasreen
from the early generation said and also there
is a hadith reported by Tirmidi that the
prophet
said,
the promised day is the day of judgment.
And the days witnessed is the day of
Arafa, witnessed by the people, witnessed by the
angels, witness by Allah himself.
And the witness is the day of Al
Jumu'ah. And again this hadith reported by Atir
Miri.
Another virtue for Arafah which is number 5,
that also Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala made an
oath with it in another verse. Allah said
in Surat Al Fajr verse 3.
And many others said,
is the day of nahr, which is the
10th. It's odd number. And al Witter is
the day of Arafa which is 9th.
Another thing about the day of Arafa,
which is point number 6,
that Allah
made the day of Arafah as a great
reminder for us of the day of judgment,
where people come from everywhere to gather, where
the believers will be gathered together
seeking Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's mercy and Allah
to come and descend
that day to welcome them. And that's what
we hope for in the day of judgment.
So when the day of Arafa comes, think
about that day when you will be gathered
with your brothers and sisters from all over
the world but that that day from all
the history, the past and the present of
days. It is a day remind you of
your end. Not only in the day of
judgment but your own judgment which is the
day of your death. Because in the peep
when the people go to Arafa where the,
you know, the the Haram, it looks and
similar to Al Kafan, which is what they
shroud our body with when we die. So
it's a day of remembrance
of the day that we will meet Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Number 7,
Abu Zubayr
reported that Jabir radiAllahu an said that the
prophet said
There is no more day
favored by Allah than the day of Arafah.
There's more virtue in a day like the
day of Arafah.
Allah will descend on that day, the almighty
subhanah, the way it belong to him as
he wish, as he
wants
to the this
to the
to this world the world is sky, the
sky that
we have.
And he will tell the people of the
heavens, the people of the skies which is
the angels,
look at my
people on earth. Look at those who have
come into the day of 'aruf.
Umu Salamah radiAllahu anha, she used to say,
this hadith report was ibn
ibn Salamah used to say,
this is the day of Arafah. This is
the day of Arafah. And what a day
when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala comes down. What
a blessed day when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
comes down. And this narration of Umi Sanamat
reported by Darim
and
the narration that came in relation to Allah
descending in the night of Arafah or the
day of Arafah to,
to look at the people who gather in
the mountain of Arafah are so many and
authentic as Sheikh Islam
said.
Number 8, among the virtue of this day
that in this day Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
frees so many people from hellfire.
Many people will be freed from hellfire. And
Allah
SWT. They free them from hellfire
and not only the people that standing in
the in the mountain of Arafa but everyone
witnessing that day with good deeds, with humility,
with Tawba, with Istilfar,
with dua,
with good deeds, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will
set them free from hellfire. There is no
day where Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala free so
many people from hellfire
like the day of Arafah.
Number 9, it is the day when you
should
have so much
hope in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's mercy and
trust in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's forgiveness. And
it's a day where you think nothing but
positive of your Lord.
When Abdul Laden Mubarak came to him and
he said, what do you think of this
day? Can Sufyan at this moment
and kneeling down and raising his hand, praying
and in tears?
Then he said,
Yeah,
Sufyan. And Sufyan
is a major
scholar.
Respected him so much. So Daulayb al Barak
was a great scholar himself. He said, what
do you think,
what is the worst sin that can be
done today that prevents someone from being forgiven?
He said, the sin of not thinking that
Allah will forgive people.
Just to lose that hope and Allah forgive
me is a sin. That's the worst thing
you can do that day. So make sure
that day you fill your heart with Husnu
Bambilla, with nothing
with expecting nothing but good from your Lord.
Also number 10,
I want to make sure to understand that
the virtue of this of this day, the
day of Arafah, is not restricted to the
people who witnessed the
Arafah
among the Hijad or standing on the mountain
of Arafah. No.
It's actually related to the day itself from
9th, from the fajr all the way to
Maghrib, no matter where you at. No doubt,
those who are standing in Arafah,
they have combined between the virtue of the
time, the blessing of the time and the
blessing of the place, and the blessing of
a status because they are in the status
of Hajj. And that's a great act of
worship in itself. So that's why their ajer
is way more rewarded
than anyone else. But it doesn't mean that
those who are not going to Hajj or
not there at Arafah are excluded from the
Hajj and reward from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Number 11. It is recommended for Muslim in
that day to increase their good deeds. To
increase the deeds that it will lead to
freeing them from * fire and
to be
even creative about it as well as it's
Sharia and
one of the good example I can give
you, Hakim El Hizam and others did the
same thing. Hakim El Hizam used to bring
the slaves at that day that he he
has or he he found and he purchased
them. Then in the day of Arafa, he
will said, you are all free. 100 of
them.
Okay. Sometimes he will bring a 100 camel,
and he will
sacrifice them or kill them and offer food
to everybody in Hajj.
And he said, You Rabb, this is just
very little
from my side to You.
So
You Allah, if I'm able to free these
slaves
and to feed people, so You Allah, free
me from hellfire
and free those people from hellfire. And people
will be in tears and crying so loud
when they hear Hakim Nkizam doing that. And
many things like that. So make sure that
that day you you meet Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala that day with the deed that is
so special. Something that you say you do
it and you said, you Allah, I did
this for you. So free me as you
have freed
free me from *
fire. You might say,
you
know, okay he used to free if you
free a slave, Allah free you from *
fire.
Today we don't have slaves to free.
You know what? Some ulama said freeing people
from debt. That can be like or people
who are in doubt because of debt and
you help them and their debt is for
halal reason.
That's also
like a freeing imam. But also there is
something else maybe you should pay attention to
it, which is, Innabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
said,
whoever says
a 100 times in a day, it will
be equal like freeing 10 slaves.
That means you free yourself from hellfire 10
times
and a 100 hasana will be given, a
100 will be forgiven. The Hadid al Sahih
Bukhari were Muslim as well. So maybe that's
a dhikr that you can do that day
a 100 times.
Number 12, make sure to increase
your adkar
and especially the dhikr of tahleel.
The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in the hadith
of Tirmidi, he said the best dua in
the day of Ara the dua of the
day of Arafa. And the best thing to
say in that day,
And another narration,
and the other one in Muslim Ahmed
Also,
another number 13. In that day,
even we say
but also subhanAllah, alhamdulillah,
Allahu Akbar, is recommended to do it all
day long because in Nabi salallam said in
the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah
increase your
Also number 14. In the day of Arafah,
the restricted takbir which is comes after salawat
start after fajr.
So after the fajr of Dayif Arafa for
those who are not doing hadd, after sal
fajr, you say
Then after that you you continue your adkar
according to the vast majority of the scholar
of Rahimahullah Ta'ala. And that will continue the
day of Arafa, the day of Eid and
3 days after until the asr of the
3rd days after Eid. We would call a
yamu at tashreeq. And this this is the
restricted
takbir.
But also during the day, you should make
takbir. Number 15, a dua in the day
of Arafah. As you just heard the prophet
said, the best of dua is dua the
day of Arafah reported by Tirmibi. So make
sure that you increase your dua in that
day.
Number 16, when you make dua that day,
make sure that you are full aware of
what you're saying.
Make sure that you understand what you're praying
for. Make sure that your heart and your
tongue come together
when you asking Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Can
you feel that closeness of Allah
That mercy and gifts and breaks that Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gives in that day.
Number 17.
It is good for you now.
If you hear me now before Arafah or
if it's day of Arafah already,
prepare some of the dua in the Quran
and Sunnah.
Write it down
if you don't memorize them.
In the sun Allah
I promise you will not be able to
pray for yourself something better than what Allah
and his messenger sallallahu alaihi wasalam taught us.
If you can't memorize it, you can't have
time. I want you to understand the following.
When the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
when we look at the dua of that
came in the sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam, we will find and by the
way, you can make a quick search some
apps like my dua app,
the Adkar,
the fortress of the Muslims, and you look
at for general Dua.
And you just look at them and you
can use them and make Dua with them.
But if you look at the Prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam, the dua of the Prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, focus on the following,
asking forgiveness, Allah's mercy, freeing from hellfire,
being forgiven,
granted a class, granted guidance,
you know, make the person's
soul sufficient, independent,
make the person's
sins covers or false covers,
provide provisions,
protections,
health,
victory,
security
and the top of all that ask Allah
Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and what leads you to Jannah,
protection from hellfire and what can lead to
it to ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
to make sure that you end your life
and goodness.
Number 18,
make sure that you pray for yourself,
for your family, for your friends,
for your relatives. I can't emphasize enough on
that.
And also make sure that you pray for
the Muslims and for the Ummah, for the
community that you're living in, for the country
that you're living in, that Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
blessed and make it good and righteous.
Number 19.
When Arafah comes on the day of Jumu'ah,
it became a great day because this is
Tuhid, the Jumu'ah and Arafah.
And basically your alafa
will end up at the end of jumu'ah
and the end of jumu'ah is more likely
for your dua to be the end of
the day of Jummah where the dua is
more accepted. Can you imagine if this is
Arafah that's adding more virtue to the virtue?
But also when Arafah comes on the day
of Monday Thursday, that's also special days. Because
on Mondays, Nabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam loved
that these 2 days and he loved to
fasten these 2 days as the nasa reported.
Why? Because he said these the days were
things presented before Allah. So can you imagine
your deeds and your good deeds and your
repentance and your Tawba and your request represent
before Allah Subha Tawla twice and multiple times
that day.
Also number 20,
the fasting the day of Arafah for those
who are not doing Hajj is highly recommended
and it's a great opportunity.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said in the
hadith report about Imam Muslim, when you fast
the day of Arafah, Allah forgive you the
sins of 2 years. And one narration, the
previous one and or the narration says
the previous year and the coming one. Some
erelema said it means a forgiving of 2
years total.
Some said the previous years and the year
that you are about to start ahead of
like a start,
any head start. You know, you're starting before
anybody else.
And that's in itself a great
blessing. Al Ulam, the majority said that has
to do with the minor sins. But even
some said even the major sin
would be forgiven.
Number 21.
The best way if you've been fasting this
day is basically to have the intention from
the night
to have a full reward.
But if you did not know and you're
listening to this talk right now I know
already it's the day of Arafah and you're
not fasting. You had a breakfast. You had
coffee. You had water. You still can do
it. You can now have the intention to
pray because fasting,
it doesn't have to be from the night
according to the strongest opinion. And you even
if you ate or you drink, you can
start your from now stop eating and drinking
and inshallah Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala give you
the ajer for that.
Number 22,
Sayed ibn Jubair used to say make sure
you wake up your family members, even your
maids and servants to make suhoor in the
night of before Arafah, so they can fast
the day of Arafah. And I'm saying to
you, make sure you talk to your children,
to your family member, to encourage them to
fast that day. Number 23,
if you have days from Ramadan, you have
not made it up yet.
It doesn't matter. You still can do the
day of Arafah, even if you did not
fast all the missing days of Ramban.
According to the strongest opinion among the scholars,
especially
the the the volunteer
fasting
that comes for a reason like Arafa, Ashura.
It's not this Monday or Thursday that you
can do it anytime. No. This is an
opportunity only once in the year. And if
you did not
finish the missing days of ramadan, you can
fast your mala'rafah and you can make ramadan
later on, insha Allah. Because making the days
of Ramadan, you have choice
of big period of time versus Arafah, just
one specific date. It's 9th of the Hajj.
If you missed it, you missed
Number 24,
what if I want to combine between the
two intention? I want to fast the day
of Alafa and to make up one of
the days
in Ramadan. You
know the majority of the scholars said you
should not do that, but some scholars said
you do and among them, Sheikh Rashayr Nathimir
And I lean towards that
too. You know, if you have the both
intention, insha'Allah, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will accept
it from you as a making of one
of the days of Ramadan.
But also Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala will reward
you because it happened during a very special
day. But the best is to separate the
two intention, is to make this specifically for
Arafah.
Number 25,
even if you are traveling that day, you
should fast. I encourage you to fast. You
know Salaf used to fast these days and
not to miss it. Ibn Abbas
was seen fasting the day of Ashura which
is lust and virtue than fasting the day
of Arafa. And he was said he was
asked, now in Ramadan you don't fast when
you are traveling.
Why you
fast in Ashura, which is not obligatory?
Ibn Abbas said for Ramadan, Allah said
In Ramadan, you can make it in any
other days. But Allah didn't say the same
thing about Ashura.
And bay obviously here we can say same
thing about, you know, the day of Arafah.
That's why Zuhriyab Zhabiz
Suvei
and others said similar to what Ibn Abbas
radiAllahu an said.
Number 26.
If you have an excuse not to fast
the day of Arafah, due to sickness, you
have your menses,
you're breastfeeding
or pregnant
and you are in the habit of fasting
the day of Arafah every year, I have
a glad tiring for you. I have a
good news for you. You will take full
ajer as if you already fasted that day.
In Nabi
said, when my if a servant of Allah
gets sick or travel,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will give you the
same ajer of what you used to do
while you are healthy or resident.
Number 27.
Make sure
by the beginning of this day, the day
of Arafah, in the middle of this day
and definitely by the end of that day,
it's the end of these major sins that
you commit. The sins that you insist on
doing it, that you are careless about.
That's the if you've taken somebody's rights, give
it back to them. If you harm someone,
ask for forgiveness.
Make sure that you repent to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and you leave the Haram because
leaving the Haram
is very important
for the Muslims to do in order for
him to receive all these blessings from Allah
subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
As Nabi
said a person go to Umrah and do
all this effort and make dua but is
not accepted from him. Why?
Dua is rejected. Why? Because he consumed Haram.
He fed himself with Haram.
So make sure that you repent to Allah
Number 28,
every Muslim this day
should seek forgiveness from Allah Subhana Wa Ta'la,
seek
to be free from hellfire. But remember,
make sure that this day, if this is
what you're seeking, to free yourself also from
sins and don't do sins these days as
much as this day as much as you
can. Nabi said
this is a day if you control your
eyes, you control your ear, you control your
tongue, you will be forgiven.
So make sure you control these 3,
Your tongue, your eyes, your
ears. Don't listen to haram. Don't watch haram.
Don't say what is haram. Say what is
right.
Say hear what is right. See what is
right. So Allah swanahu wa ta'ala forgive you.
Number 29.
This is the day of freeing from hellfire
and forgiveness, as I said early. But I
want to emphasis on this as we end
the points.
In Sayyid Muslim, there is no day Allah
frees so many people from hellfire like the
day of Arafah.
He will come closer to the people of
Arafa and he will say what he asked
his angels, what those wants?
What those people want. When Allah
he said what they want, he knows what
they want.
He's
saying look
what they came here for. They left their
family, they left
their homes, they left
their their their business, they left everything behind
them and they came to me.
They're seeking what? Allah's forgiveness.
So Allah
grant them what they want. And another narration,
Allah will be proud of them and telling
the angel look at my servant.
Because angels are his servants in heaven. But
these are his servants on earth. He said,
look at them. So proud of them.
And Al Ulamar Rahimullah said that hadith shows
you that the people of Arafah will be
forgiven.
Why? Because their sins will be completely forgiven,
wiped out. Because Allah will never be proud
of someone who sin
sinner.
And Allah will not be proud of someone
who committing sin. He will be proud of
those who are sinless, pure. That's why Allah
purify them first
and forgive them all first, then
he will be proud of them. Like in
Jannah, proud of you when you are in
Jannah. Because when you enter Jannah, everything will
be forgiven.
This is a great thing
that you should reflect upon in that day.
Make sure that Allah is proud of you
by the end of that day. Proud of
your commitment and your
your your your repentance to him. And finally
my 30th point, what Ibra Rajal
said, He said in his book, Latayf ul
Ma'arif, something very beautiful. He said,
could be also.
If you missed it, stand up
that day in the mountain of Arafa.
Stand up for the truth.
Stand up before Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And if you couldn't spend the night in
Musdalifa,
make sure that you spend the night, every
night
committed to the worship of Allah Subhana Wa
Ta'la.
If you can be
praying
at Al khaif,
make sure that you
complete
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala or fulfill Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala rights upon you anywhere.
If you couldn't sacrifice your hadi and mina,
make sure that you sacrifice and offer your
hawai, your desires
and you will reach with the people of
Makkah reach. If you couldn't reach the house
of Allah in Makkah,
make sure that you reach the house of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
You know, in the in any other places,
the minor houses of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
The major one, the bigger one is the
one in Mecca. But also Allah has houses
everywhere. Make sure you're among those who go
to it, attend it, be part of your
community,
be proud of you being a Muslim and
be grateful and thankful to Allah Subhana Wa
Ta'ala for this blessed day. You Allah, we
are thankful and grateful for you for all
these opportunities.
You Allah, we ask you to forgive us,
to accept us, to shower us with your
mercy, and to keep us on the straight
path until we meet you.
